I Shouldn’t be Subjected to Yankee’s Fans, Either…

Posted by USWeapon on December 31, 2008

Today we see in the news that the Freedom From Religion Foundation is suing to keep Barack Obama from using the phrase “So Help Me God” during his official taking of the oath of office on January 20. Additionally the group is suing to keep Pastor Rick Warren from giving the invocation. According to the group, failure to eliminate these things is a violation of the separation of Church and State. Nut Jobs in America pushing themselves on the rest of us is what I say…

The Mess in Israel and Gaza

Posted by USWeapon on December 29, 2008

So we now see it again. We have gotten so used to the violence that I don’t even see people getting upset about what is going on in the Middle East, specifically Israel bombing Gaza and as I write this, massing troops on the border to get ready for a ground assault. I am not going to get into this a lot here tonight, but I do want to get a pulse of those who read here about how you are feeling about this mess.

Playing the Blame Game… So Let’s Review Some Realities

Posted by USWeapon on December 27, 2008

So recently the New York Times published an article that basically did the standard liberal newspaper thing… they took the time to write a scathing article blaming the Republican President for the sub-prime mortgage “crisis” that recently resulted in a pork filled 850 billion dollar tax payer raping. Don’t get me wrong, I am used to the liberal media taking these shots and it has become easy to figure out what parts of the story they leave out or twist in some way. So I was happy to see the White House actually fire back at them and set the record straight partially. But I want to present a third option and maybe even a fourth…

Returning From a Christmas Break

Posted by USWeapon on December 27, 2008

I can see by the number of visitors that many of you have been checking in every day, used to the regular routine of a new posting every night. As is a tradition for my wife and I, we were fortunate enough to host my in-laws for the holidays. I don’t often get the opportunity to sit with my father in-law and talk, so I have to take advantage when I can. Unfortunately that has left me lacking in time to research or write much of anything. I will return to posting soon so that I give you all plenty of ammunition to fire at me with. In the mean time I will be responding to comments and posting an interesting article or two. I hope that you all had a nice break to spend with your families.

What do You Mean You Used it to Buy Crack?

Posted by USWeapon on December 23, 2008

I am beginning to get a little more pissed about the Financial Industry’s handling of funds from the Pork Barrel free-for-all that we know as the Financial bailout bill. It wasn’t enough for the government to take 700 billion dollars of tax money to bail out financial firms that made bad business decisions. It wasn’t enough that Congress, while claiming to save us from disaster, took 150 billion more in pork barrel bills, because they weren’t voting to save the country unless there was something in it for them (because Congress is filled with the lowest form of scum there is). Now the banks don’t want to tell us what they did with our money.

In Defense of Our Military

Posted by USWeapon on December 21, 2008

OK, if you have been reading consistently over the last week or so, especially in the Libertarian Act VIII thread, you know that one of the readers and frequent participants in our discussions, and he knows who he is, made some statements in a recent post that I found hateful, baseless, and fairly ignorant. But more than anything, I found them to be personally offensive. So I am going to answer his charges as best I can here, although he isn’t interested in any ideas that don’t fit within his personal belief system. But I give all readers the chance to state their own views below…

Saving the Government’s Soul

Posted by USWeapon on December 19, 2008

I feel like I am a good person twenty three and a half hours a day. Not a perfect person, mind you, because I certainly have my share of flaws. I say 23.5 because my wife will tell you that the first half hour after I wake up I can often be far less than nice. “The Great Grumble Grrr” would be her phrase for that 30 minute period of time. In my house you don’t mess with G cubed (who she has the power to impersonate every now and then). So maybe I am not the guy you want answering that infamous 3:00 am phone call that The Messiah and the New Secretary of State were bickering about, even though lately the world would be safe because I haven’t gone to bed yet at that point. But I digress…

Government Reform versus Government Elimination

Posted by USWeapon on December 18, 2008

I was responding to a reader today and had this flash of thought. It seems that those readers who have a somewhat more anarchist twist to their belief system consistently refer to government as a single beast that must be slain. So that got me thinking about whether that is a fair comparison. Then I began thinking about all of the discussions that have happened on this site around “eliminating the government” because the government is broken and corrupt. Which leads me to this post….

Should Government be Reformed or Eliminated?

Libertarian Party Act VIII

Posted by USWeapon on December 17, 2008

libertarian-party-sealThe Dissection of the Libertarian Party platform enters the final section, which will be comprised of three Acts. Here are some tougher topics that I look forward to the conversation around. National Security and Individual Rights are the topics in this section, which means that some of you are going to have really strong opinions. But I find that this section gives me a lot of unanswered questions.

Won’t Global Warming Lead to Global Cooling?

Posted by USWeapon on December 15, 2008

Just a thought here…. If global warming is all that they say, and the earth continues to heat up, won’t we all find ourselves in a position to no longer need to use our heaters in the winter? And won’t a lack of heater use eventually bring the temperature down? I know that is a ridiculous idea, but no more ridiculous than the madness that I call global warming hysterics. I am beginning to worry about this again based on the reports coming out of Al Gore and the new President Elect.

Stuart Smalley versus the People of Minnesota

Posted by USWeapon on December 14, 2008

Another article that I have tried my best not to write, but I simply cannot help myself. And the pictures below are simply too good to pass up. You guys all remember Stuart Smalley right? Stuart was a character on Saturday Night Live played by comedian Al Franken. He had no self esteem and would talk to himself in the mirror, affirming that he was “good enough, smart enough, and gosh darnit, people liked him”. My favorite skit was when Michael Jordan hosted the show and he had Michael look into the mirror and say the self affirmation speech. Jordan could barely keep a straight face. Well it seems that Stuart thinks he is good enough for the United States Senate…..

Copperfield and Chris Angel have Nothing on These Guys

Posted by USWeapon on December 13, 2008

I was over reading Coup D’etat’s blog a bit ago and she had an interesting post about the bailout bill. It seems that there were some things in that bill that no one wanted to talk about. I certainly hadn’t heard about it before. It made me annoyed enough to decide this was my topic for tonight. I didn’t have enough free time to research a big topic anyway. So the point of this post is that I want a bill to be only a bill, and nothing else…

Chicago Stinks… and We aren’t talkin about the Cubs

Posted by USWeapon on December 12, 2008

I initially told myself that I wasn’t going to write about this subject. “Too much of a layup” I said. “Too easy to take a shot at this” I told my friends. But see that is the beauty for a guy like me, who spent most of his youth getting rejected by basketball players far better than I. A layup is an awfully inviting thing. I mean it is a slam dunk in the box score, right? So I am taking the shot, and letting myself vent on not only sleazy Illinois Governor Blagojevich, but the entire Chicago machine, which I think once or twice has given us a national figure…..

A Bit of Levity… Thanks Dave

Posted by USWeapon on December 12, 2008

We can be a bit intense on this blog. With good reason. We are discussing important and powerful things here! But I like to every couple of days or so add something here that will bring a bit of levity to the table. After all I want you to enjoy this site for more than just my witty prose.

Libertarian Party Act VII

Posted by USWeapon on December 11, 2008

libertarian-party-sealAs promised, we move directly into Act VII of dissecting the Libertarian Party Platform. That last part was fairly tough for me. I had been cruising along and starting to think that maybe I could get behind this party, and then I hit a financial roadblock. That hasn’t ruled them out, but I certainly need some convincing that those parts can work.

Libertarian Party Act VI

Posted by USWeapon on December 10, 2008

libertarian-party-sealTime to get back to the Libertarian Platform. I am going to be doing the next couple of sections in quick order, as it does seem that we got away from it a little too long. We want to cover it all without too much interval in order to make sure everyone gets to see it all. So on to finance, money, and monopolies…

I Am Suing My Readers for Disagreeing With Me

Posted by USWeapon on December 9, 2008

I understand that this is a bit of rant rather than the “hard core” politics that we have been covering here. But every now and then I have to just vent, and this is my blog after all. So while I am intensely grateful for all of you who come to read it, I sometimes have to just go my own way and rant. Thank you for indulging me. And besides I did a lot of research tonight for the Cabinet Selections post only to realize that it is too much to make into a post….. and I surely didn’t want to disappoint anyone by not having something for you to wake up to….

Cabinet Positions are Too Tough to Keep up With!

Posted by USWeapon on December 9, 2008

I had a request tonight for a running update on the selections for the President Elect’s Cabinet. Initially this looked like a good post topic, as I have had a lot of people calling me to ask about the people selected. While others have no idea who I am talking about when I mention one. However after some contemplation, I have decided to not do separate posts for these picks. They would simply be too long and update too often. I have instead decided to have a page up there at the top of the blog where the picks will be updated as they are announced along with my thoughts and analysis on each one. The page will be titled “Obama’s Cabinet Picks”. We can have discussions there around the picks and it will keep that page right up here near the top where it needs to be. So Check it out as it gets updated over the next couple of days and learn who these folks are that are being chosen to be in Obama’s new Cabinet.

The Threat of Violence… Justified Politics or Meddling?

Posted by USWeapon on December 8, 2008

I was perusing the news today while on a dinner break at work and stumbled upon this article about how India was poised to attack Pakistan over the recent terror attacks in Mumbai. I will link to it below. Apparently the US and Britain talked them off the ledge. But that got me thinking about the discussions that we have had on this blog about the United States constantly being involved in the affairs of other nations. Furthermore I was wondering how we can define the line that our country should not be allowed to cross….

Let the Oil Companies Bail out Detroit (UPDATED)

Posted by USWeapon on December 8, 2008

You know, I touched on this briefly in the past, in the “Dude, Can I Borrow Some Cash to Buy Your Car” post. But now it seems that the potential bailout of the big three automakers has become a much bigger issue in each day’s headlines. So I am going to revisit it a bit. I have a real problem with the bailout on principle because if my business started failing the government wouldn’t take your money to bail me out. Yet the “big three” seem to think they are worthy of such a crime….

For Ruben… Taking My New Vice President to School

Posted by USWeapon on December 7, 2008

So in discussing some topics for what people want to learn I stipulated that the topics had to be something that the people wanted to learn about in the political world, as opposed to trying to understand the illogical minds of far left liberals. Because this blog is about people getting involved in politics and understanding the issues. Then Ruben reminded me that perhaps the one who needs to understand politics the most might be our new Vice President, who doesn’t quite seem to know exactly what this new job he is taking is all about…..

A New Social(ist) Standard…No more “F”s

Posted by USWeapon on December 6, 2008

So I started the thread the other night to discuss the public education system in America. We didn’t even get a couple of days away from that and this new story pops up in the news today. Remember how we discussed the fact that we eliminate sports games so that there are no winners and losers? Wel now there are no failures in the academic portion of school as well. When will we stop coddling our children and teach them what the real world holds?

Thoughts On Another Series

Posted by USWeapon on December 5, 2008

OK, so far this series on the Libertarian Party has been working out really well. Great Discussions and debates. Revolution and I were talking and we were frustrated with how many people we talk to who really have zero idea about how the government really works. So that inspired the idea for another series about this. But I cannot do this one alone. So tell me this…..

Libertarian Party Platform Act V

Posted by USWeapon on December 3, 2008

libertarian-party-sealWell we have certainly had our fair share of interesting conversations about the Libertarian Party platform thus far, haven’t we? A lot of opinions and disagreements. But that is what this is about: talking about our differences. I am finding that I am gaining a much better perspective on each of these issues through the conversation around them. So on to the first section of the Economic Liberties Section…

My Education is Making Me Dumberer

Posted by USWeapon on December 3, 2008

The Libertarian dissections have been good, and Act V is written and ready for posting tomorrow night. However, there have been quite a few discussions in the comments around Education and the state of our public school systems. I have tried to reign them in to save them for this post but I decided I needed to get to writing this before I lost control. I think this is a very important subject so I expect a lot of conversation around it. So here is the post dedicated to the public school systems in America…

The State of the Modern Shopper

Posted by USWeapon on December 2, 2008

I must admit that is difficult to keep up with a blog every single day. But with the growing number of readers I find myself feeling the need to provide new content daily. Not that I am complaining, I love that so many are coming to read and discuss political issues. However today I have not had time to do any research and thus cannot contribute coherent political dialogue. But I wanted to give you all something to read and discuss and this issue is one I face daily….

Time To Take Action!!!!!!!!

Posted by USWeapon on December 2, 2008

This is a Call to all Patriots! CALLING ALL PATRIOTS! Revolution2010 added another important post to her site this evening. I am not going to re-post it here simply because you will need to use the links in her site to act. And act you must. A fine representative from Texas has drafted legislation that would return the remaining $350 billion from the bailout to the people via a tax holiday for two months. That’s right 25% of your paycheck could be given back to you! But Crazy anti-christ Nancy Pelosi is already vowing to make sure this bill never sees the light of the House floor! You don’t like the bailout, then now is the time to take action. Go to her site and find out how. Do it now and take the steps. This is the first step in demanding our voice be heard! A Great Posting on Another Site

Posted by USWeapon on December 1, 2008

Well, I had to have a night where I worked on schoolwork or I would put at risk that 4.0 average that I have managed to keep until age 38! As some of you may know, or maybe you don’t, a dear friend inspired me to start this blog in the first place. And I owe her for it tremendously. Recently, we decided that the Libertarian Dissection I am doing is a great topic for her readers as well, so we have been doing dual posts so that her readers get to have our discussions too! But tonight I went to her site and found this amazing post….
