Using Fear to Get Government’s Way

Posted by USWeapon on January 30, 2009

So how many of you read that headline and said, so he is going to write about Bush and his use of terrorism as a fear mechanism to take our rights away? Well he did, but there is no point in writing about him now. Instead we are going to talk about how Barrack Obama and his party are doing the same. Using your fear around the economy to get you to buy in to the economic stimulus plan. This is a sham and should have Americans rioting in the streets. Unfortunately too many of you will be hearing this for the first time. Shame on you… now pay attention class. This will be a long lecture….

Living in Their Own Reality….

Posted by USWeapon on January 29, 2009

Democrat Leaders, that is. I got a comment today that made me sit back and evaluate whether I was being fair for judging the Messiah’s actions so quickly, before they had a chance to succeed or fail. It was a fair comment based on what I had written in the “RUSH” post. But what I really started thinking about was the alternate reality that the Democratic Leadership is living in. So I figured I would open it for discussion.

New Polls on the Left!

Posted by USWeapon on January 29, 2009

I know it has been a while since I updated the polls that I have on the left hand side of the screen. I apologize as I felt as though I was barely finding time to write my oh-so-interesting posts! But I have updated them tonight and added the new ones to the past polls page as well. Don’t forget that you can always go to the past polls page and still vote on any poll that I have ever had up and see the results of all past polls as well.

A Quick Thanks

Posted by USWeapon on January 29, 2009

I don’t want to take a lot of time from all of you. I just wanted to say a quick thanks to everyone who has been visiting the site and adding their thoughts or even just perusing my random thoughts. I especially wanted to thank everyone who is passing the site on to friends. As some of you may have seen recently, I have reached a few milestones I set for myself, and I reached them far earlier than I expected. We have had over 1,000 comments on the site (over 1400 if you count the deleted ones!) and we have had over 10,000 page views! Both were big milestones to me and both were accomplished in less than 3 months. So a heartfelt thanks to every single one of you for helping me accomplish these goals. I hope that interest continues to accelerate, so keep telling all your friends! And don’t forget to leave me comments on what I can do to make the site better! Thank you again!

“RUSH”ing to Spend Our Tax Dollars

Posted by USWeapon on January 28, 2009

It seems that the Democratic party just isn’t quite sure what to say when a member of the media is not lauding them for their accomplishments or telling us all about the savior and why we are good and righteous people for electing him. They have actually commissioned an online petition against Rush Limbaugh for his comment that was directed at the new President. His comment: “I hope he fails”. I am not one to stick up for Rush very often. I think he and Ann Coulter have gone off the deep end a bit, but let’s look at the last 8 years, shall we?

Holding Barrack Obama Accountable

Posted by USWeapon on January 26, 2009

I saw this news story the other day and I knew immediately that it fell right into the wheelhouse of what I have been discussing on this site since I began: Government Accountability. It seems that an editor of the St. Petersburg Times decided he would research, document, and track every one of the 510 campaign promises that Barrack Obama made during his campaign for the Presidency. I initially thought, “yeah, right. Some newspaper will realistically track this…”

Is This What a “Post-Racial” America Means?

Posted by USWeapon on January 23, 2009

I have to admit that I sit here at the moment a little bit stunned. I just viewed a video on youtube that someone sent me. The video is of Rappers Young Jeezy and Jay Z doing a concert the night before the inauguration. I am the first to admit that I am not a fan of today’s rap. It is ignorant and demeaning. Vulgar and disrespectful. But this is not about having anything against rap. I am not a fan, but I don’t dislike it. I loved rap back in the day, before this fake gangsta crap started to move in. What this is about it the sentiment that is running through America in the days leading up to and following Barrack Obama’s inauguration….

An Uproar Over the “Racist” Prayer

Posted by USWeapon on January 22, 2009

A full day has passed since the inauguration of President Obama. I thought it all went pretty well. I have some thoughts about the speech he gave, but this is not the post for that. What I am amazed by is how many people are talking about the prayer given towards the end of the ceremony where the words “where white will embrace what is right” were incorporated into the prayer. It seems many people are angry about this. It seems others are feeling it is dead on accurate. I am not in either of those camps…

Transcript of Barack Obama’s Inauguration Speech

Posted by USWeapon on January 21, 2009

I know that not everyone was able to watch the inauguration of Barrack Obama today. I was fortunate in that I was able to watch the entire thing live. I was waiting to hear what his speech would cover, and what he would say now that he has the office and cannot be defeated in an election for saying the wrong thing. I have to say that I liked the speech, although I did see some hedging of bets and some things I didn’t like. But I will save my comments for later. I wanted to post the entire transcript of the speech here so that those who missed it might have a place to easily read it. We will be referencing it in the future blogs as we watch his first 100 days unfold.

Where Do Republicans Go From Here?

Posted by USWeapon on January 21, 2009

I had some good comments on yesterday’s post, but one commenter really struck me. They were angry, but wanted to have hope, and wondered “where do I go from here?” This struck me because so many people have asked me lately what the next step for the Republican Party is. They figure I am more politically active than most so I will have an answer. I don’t have an answer offered by the Republican Party. But I do have an answer for where I intend to go from here. So I figured I would share it and hopefully help others sort their own feelings out as well.

Reflections on the Inauguration

Posted by USWeapon on January 20, 2009

presidential-sealSo here we sit on Inauguration day. In a couple of hours we will swear in a new President and bid goodbye to George W. Bush as Commander in Chief. I do so with mixed feelings on the matter. I am sad to see George W. Bush go away. I liked who he was despite his flaws. But I am also looking forward to President Obama and learning about how he is going to change our country. So I thought I would share my thoughts as we move on to the next chapter in American history.

UN-American Civil Liberals Union

Posted by USWeapon on January 19, 2009

So I have made my way through the holidays with work and school and now I can get back to focusing on writing a bit more often. As we have seen, there have been a lot of distractions keeping me from my purpose here. So a bit of re-focussing for me. Today’s topic is the American Civil Liberties Union, better known as the ACLU. What a disgusting group masquerading as a group “protecting Americans”. In fact, all that they are doing is protecting Liberal ideals.

Heir to the Throne… America’s Royalty?

Posted by USWeapon on January 14, 2009

We have been hearing a lot lately about Hillary Clinton’s soon to be vacated New York Senate seat. We have also seen a lot of discussion around the Roland Burris appointment in Illinois. I am going to focus on New York here, but my conclusion will apply to both situations. It looks more each day like Caroline Kennedy will be appointed to the Senate. To me this is a bit agonizing. Can’t the Kennedy’s just go away?

Is Obama’s Economic Stimulus Plan a Good Idea?

Posted by USWeapon on January 13, 2009

The Office of the President Elect (a truly made up office for the record) has issued several statements over the last several weeks that clue us in to the intentions that the messiah has for fixing the economy. One of the most covered and almost universally accepted in the media is the trillion dollar plus economic stimulus plan that he intends to get through Congress within the first couple of weeks in office. The question is: Is this a good idea?

Sarah Strikes Back

Posted by USWeapon on January 10, 2009

PALIN CABINETI understand that this probably isn’t going to get a lot of comments. But I wanted to write about it and it is my blog after all. And in the end, I think she took a bad rap and it seems that no one wanted to stick up for her when they should have. Plus she took a shot at the media and that always makes me happy. Sarah Palin spoke up a bit recently. Portions of an interview conducted January 5 for a documentary about how bad the media is were released today. I stumbled upon them on Fox News and had to take a look…

UPDATED!! And The Hits Just Keep on Coming!

Posted by USWeapon on January 7, 2009

OK, let’s refresh our memory on what the federal government has already bailed out. We know about the failing big three in Detroit. Even when the Senate said no, the White House made it a priority and made it happen. We know about the failing financial companies, who refuse to detail what they are doing with our money. And we know about the airline industry a couple of years ago. So who else is begging for taxpayers to pony up and pay for their mistakes or lack of fiscal responsibility. The list might surprise you. Update in red below.

Should Burris be seated?

Posted by USWeapon on January 7, 2009

We are watching the petty bickering in the United States Senate over the embattled Illinois governor’s selection to replace Barack Obama’s Senate seat. Today they refused to allow him admission to the United States Senate. Harry Reid led the charge. So the question is, should he be seated or should he be barred from being the next Senator from Illinois?

Libertarian Party Act IX

Posted by USWeapon on January 6, 2009

libertarian-party-sealWell we are finally out of the holiday season for me. And that means we can get back to business. The next to last section of the Libertarian Platform. We have certainly covered a lot in all of the first 8 acts, and we now near the finish line. But we aren’t done yet. There are some inportant areas still to be covered and analyzed. I look forward to your thoughts on these three areas…

You Can Always Leave if You Don’t Like It Here?

Posted by USWeapon on January 3, 2009

I have wanted to make this post for a while now and I figured tonight would be the time I take to tackle it. Many times in these conversations, I have made the point to different folks that being in America is a choice. The response is usually hostile and often taken as I am telling them to leave the country. So I wanted to take a moment to discuss this rationally and without any emotion and without directing it at anyone so that no one gets their feelings hurt thinking I don’t like them…

Let’s Discuss a Free Market

Posted by USWeapon on January 1, 2009

As we have worked our way through the Libertarian platform and subsequent topics that involve government, we have discussed many different areas where there are disagreements about whether government should be involved, and if so, at what level. One of the most interesting to me and the most relevant to today’s current events is the idea of a free market. So I figured that it would be a good time for us to talk about how it can work, or how it cannot, depending on your position.
