Good… Now Both Parties Have Lied to Us Equally

I was perusing the news again tonight as I often do when I a) don’t know what I want to write about or b) Have some subjects in mind but don’t have the time to fully research those and write them so I have to find something with a little less research. Tonight was B. I have lots to say but not tons of time to research tonight and I wanted to point out this little piece of heaven. I felt it was a lie when John McCain said it back in September. So the Republicans were lying to me then. Now, after mocking Republicans for it on the campaign trail, the Democrats are now telling me the same lie because it fits their current agenda. The point is… I think they are both lying rather than Democrats finally admitting Republicans were correct.

You may recall that back in September we were seeing the first hints of an economic problem starting to fester. It was the turning point in the election (well that and the combination of stupid voters and, even worse, racist voters who now admit they only voted for him because he was black, because showing someone preferential treatment for someone based on the color of skin is wrong, right?). John McCain suspended his campaign and rushed back to Washington to help figure things out. But before he rushed back to Washington, he went on national TV and stated to the American people that they shouldn’t worry because the “Fundamentals of the American Economy are strong”, but then abruptly added that the fundamentals are “at great risk.”

Democrats seized the moment to prove that Republicans didn’t have a grasp on reality. How could they help fix this country when those dumbasses actually were idiot enough to believe that the fundamentals of the economy are strong? You may recall these moments from back then:

Nancy Pelosi’s partisan rant referenced last night when she stated: “they have no credibility. How else could John McCain, in the midst of the greatest financial crisis since the Great Depression, tell the American people the fundamentals of our economy are strong?”

Or perhaps the President himself, Mr. Obama, who on the afternoon of McCain’s statement said, “I just think he doesn’t know. He doesn’t get what’s happening between the mountain in Sedona where he lives and the corridors of Washington where he works…. Why else would he say, today, of all days — just a few hours ago — that the fundamentals of the economy are still strong? Senator — what economy are you talking about?”

And from some of the Democratic Blogs out there at the time:

  • un****ingbelievable. God help us if the geriatric psycho wins.
  • It’s appalling McCain would even make such a moronic statement. Clearly he is removed from the troubles this nation is about to face.
  • Maybe Mr. Greenspan can talk some sense into Sen. McCain?!?! Very strong? “Divorced from reality”, indeed.

And now comes today’s White House News. On Sunday, that optimistic message came from Obama economic adviser Christina Romer. When asked during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” if the fundamentals of the economy were sound, she replied: “Of course they are sound.”

From President Obama last week: “If we are keeping focused on all the fundamentally sound aspects of our economy, all the outstanding companies, workers, all the innovation and dynamism in this economy, then we’re going to get through this,”. On Saturday “There’s a reason why even in the midst of this economic crisis you’ve seen actual increases in investment flows here into the United States,” Obama said. “I think it’s a recognition that the stability not only of our economic system, but also our political system, is extraordinary.”

Boy how the tone has changed. Perhaps now is the time where John McCain should be going on television and mocking the President by repeating the exact statement the President made about John back in September. “What economy are you talking about, Mr. President?” McCain won’t do that of course. He has too much class to take a cheap shot at the President of the United States. You can bet your sweet ass if the situation were reversed, Speaker Pelosi, with the least class of any Democrat, would have already had two press conferences and a rant on the House floor.

But here is my point. I will call it even because now they have both lied to us. The fundamentals of the economy are NOT strong the way that I see it. The financial sector is a mess. State run banks are becoming a reality. The stock market is in a free fall. The big Three are all struggling. The housing market is still shit. Retail sales are continuing to decline.

But here is the fundamental that is least strong: American citizens. Americans have little to no fiscal discipline. We have lived on credit for years and spent far more than we can afford. On top of this we are moving towards socialism, which will further degrade the free market and put generations in debt in America. Socialism bankrupts every group that tries it. Just ask California. Way to go liberals.

So I submit that the fundamentals of the economy are not strong. While I have advanced education in economics, I am open to someone telling me where I am wrong here. So what do all of you think?

  1. Hmmmmm. Since I have personally watched my retirement nest egg crack and leak out into the ether over the last twelve months, I will not challenge you on this one. I do believe that it will continue to get worse before it gets better. Maybe if the bummer will keep his mouth shut we might see some minor improvements over time, but since this imbecile loves to hear himself talk so much – we are in deep kimshee.

  2. Poiticians lying is not news,it’s the norm.Expect it and you’ll never be disappointed.
In Nov,2007,I took my money out of the stock market, put it somewhere a lot safer and predicted a severe downturn of 5 years duration,so according to me we have about 3.5 years left until things get back on an even keel.
A recovery can start as soon as the big boys feel they have stolen enough money to satisfy them, whatever the sum may be.When that magic number is reached, things will turn for the better, and not until.
The public needs to recognize red herrings when they appear. The insurance giant AIG is paying their executives millions in bonuses and the public and the politicians are up in arms over it.Meanwhile,AIG is paying the big banks billions in stimulus funds, the same banks that all ready have received billions in stimulus funds and barely a peep out of anyone.
The public is focused on 8000 plus earmarks, worth a few billion while the entire United States Treasury is being pilfered for a few trillion.
    Politicians lie–it figures.

  3. Politicians lying? Say it isn’t so! That is of little suprise, but the hypocrisy of the Obama administration shines through again. Everything was falling apart until someone clued him in on the fact that that kind of talk was not getting him anywhere, and presto chango, the 180 degree turn around. I voted McCain, and often wonder if we would be better off, or not. Bottom line is that most politicians are lawyers and lying is a prerequisite for that profession. Politicians tell the public what they want to hear to get elected…it is a sad, but realistic truth.

    • Even though I voted for him,I am not a big McCain fan. That said, there is no doubt we would be much better off with him. There would not be a multi-billion tram being built LA to Vegas.

      • True…and there most certainly not have been a pork filled bill of any type that would have passed with his signature…

  4. there are only two political parties in the USA: (1)all politicians and (2)the American people
It seems to me that the American people are beginning to figure this out since the blind date with Obama is almost over – and most Americans now truly wish they never agreed to that blind date. The majority of Washington bureaucrats are so far removed from the typical American family/life/struggle that they know not what we need or want and honestly I believe they no longer care what we need or want. They are more concerned with their own power (i.e. Nancy Pelosi flying around in excess on our dime). We as Americans need to realize that quite possibly 98% of our government officials are not on our side – we need to stand up and speak up – and remind them THEY WORK FOR US!

Live the way they want the rest of us to live….maybe we would see some change.

    • Black Flag says:

Sadly, it is only an illusion that they “work for us”. They do not.

Political force works only one way – from the government onto the people.

There is not one good thing government or politicians do – they are a force of violence – and must be resisted or avoided at all possible.

      • Dream on.

        • Black Flag says:

One would hope that there would be more argument from you, but that is an illusion too.

Instead of just complaining, try offering a viable and realistic solution to the problem that you are complaining about. Anything other than that is just a waste of time and energy.

      • USWeapon says:

More babble… The key is finding better politicians. You cannot eliminate government and to say there is not one thing government does that is good just says that you are bitter towards government and unable to see reality well. Don’t bother with your inevitable question of “name one thing”. I have learned that doing so does no good with you.

    • Glen Beck did a show called WE Surround Them. As a continuation he started a new web site called 912 Project. The day after 9/11, and how America united. Its worth a visit.

Beck is becoming one of my favorites to watch. He is full of fire and pissed off in the way that the average American is.

    • USWeapon says:

      Candy,

I think that this is the first time I have seen your name commenting on my site. So I want to formally welcome you. I love your analogy to the blind date. I see Obama more as a date from an internet chat room. Once you go out to dinner you realize that 90% of the profile that attracted you was bullshit, lol. There seems to be no truth to anything that Obama says at this point. I simply cannot find the ability to any longer trust him at his word on anything. If he said he had to go take a leak, I would assume he was actually going to try and pick up my wife….

      • Thanks for the welcome and thank you for website – it is enjoyable to read and contains intelligent, well articulated viewpoints. I noticed you like Glenn Beck – and I agree he displays the anger the American people are feeling. As for not trusting Obama – my advise to you is keep your eye on your wife and I will keep my eye on my husband!

  5. Barney Frank has been quoted that paying bonuses to AIG executives is “rewarding incompetance”.I think Barney should know all about incompetance.

    • USWeapon says:

He knows better than most. I find it amazing that the American public gets up in arms about a couple hundred million in bonuses but seems to passively watch the federal government squander trillions. More on this coming soon.

It’s no suprise that the politicians are lying to us. It’s what they do. We MUST take our country back from the Lying Bastards before it’s too late. And Obama saying intiatives such as green technology and Universal Healthcare and raising taxes (by taking away their deductions)on all those making over $200,000 per year is neccessary to help the economy recover. Come on Mr.Obama. Did your mama drop you on your head when you were a baby thereby causing permanent dain bramage? The only people stupider than him are the idiots who voted for him.

    • Esomhillholler, it may already be too late. I personally do not believe that you could muster enough people who have the stomach to do what it would take…

      • esomhillholler says:

        Terry,
It may indeed be too late, but I refuse to give up on my country! I won’t just roll over and quit on it no matter what. The folks who don’t have the stomach for this fight don’t deserve to live here. Let ’em move to frackin’ France!

        • I won’t give up either, but worry we are in the minority. I hope and pray i am wrong…

          • USWeapon says:

I don’t think we are in the minority Terry. I do think that people have gotten lazy, like a hornets nest in the winter. All it takes is a good shake to get that nest fired up again. When it happens the Obama administration is in for a jolt.

You never did answer the question. Why? You do not have an answer to that question. Simple as that.

I did answer it, but you just don’t like the answer.

You want to know how free people will deal with each other without government.

    My answer is:

How did you deal with your neigbhor today? Was there government force there to compel him or you?

How did you deal with people walking down the street? Did they run into you? Or was there government there to compel everyone to make space for you to walk?

The way free people deal with each other is so common that most don’t even it see it.

    • Try this on for size . . .

I submit the area known as southeast Los Angeles aka Gangbanger heaven. Also little Saigon. Then there are those other places, like Little China, Little Tokyo, and the like. Anarchy? No. These are places where peaceful people are being held hostage by drugged out thugs and mafia wannabe’s, too terrified to tell the police who the drug dealers and home invasion people are because they will be punished severely by NON-GOVERNMENT. Just ignore government and it will go away? Maybe, but open your blind eyes and see what my eyes have seen as to what will replace government if it does just go away. And you question me as to why I think you are either drunk, on drugs, or just plain nuts? You have no idea just what one human is capable of doing to another human when there is no type of authority to answer to!

Explain that way of how people deal with one another! Explain away what happened in Bosnia after the Soviet Union collapsed!

You need to have seen what my eyes have seen, you need to have been where I have been, then you just might have a different idea as to how people would deal with one another without some sort of authority to answer to.

Your theory of just letting government dissolve into nothing is nothing but an imbecilic pipe dream. Wake up, BF! This is the REAL world I am talking about!

      • Black Flag says:

What Non-government are you talking about?

The last I looked Los Angeles et al had a city government, state government and a federal government.

Oooohhh, you were pointing to the failure of your systems as a reason against my system! Very strange argument strategy.

Just ignore government and it will go away?

What is the difference between a government and a criminal gang?

You have no idea just what one human is capable of doing to another human when there is no type of authority to answer to! You label yourself an anarchist? You have no idea!

Sure, do. 300 million dead in the 20th Century, killed by their government.

No mafia hit squad is even in the same game, let alone bush league with that score by government.

So, let’s sum up your argument.

You point to the utter failure of violent authority in preventing evil as a reason against freedom.

        Very strange argument, sir..

        • And no authority what-so-ever would accomplish what? Tell me and the rest of the world just what no authority would accomplish! Please, all-knowing-and-wise-guru, enlighten those of us whose eyes have beheld the inherent evil that humans bestow upon their fellow beings, your amazing vision of the absolute peace and tranquility of how humans would live in your fantasy world without some sort of authority to answer to.

Is it the drugged out fantasy world of the 1960’s era hippie generation?

How about the 1920’s flapper era?

          Or the 1930’s dust bowl?

Just what is your vision of a world without leadership, without any kind of system to provide a moral base?

        • USWeapon says:

          BF,

To use your own logic, government is not capable of killing anyone. Only people are. 300 million dead? All government can do is issue an order to kill someone. The person at the helm of the gun does the job. So it isn’t government that is to blame, it is the people who do the act. And I submit to you that if no government existed that told them to kill, someone else would tell them to and they would anyway. People are flawed in that they are controlled by government. And that flaw will not disappear with government disappearing. It will only become more justifiable and have less consequences.

      • USWeapon says:

        G.A.

Good examples of some of the places where government either doesn’t exist or has lost complete control. We cannot, under today’s realities, operate without government regardless of how much we all wish that it were true.

    • USWeapon says:

      BF,
I am throwing the shenanigan flag. You are simply over-simplifying the situation to avoid answering the question. You and I both know the question is how is what you are saying accomplished on the macro level. No government doesn’t have to tell us how to deal with our neighbor, but there are repercussions to doing so badly, because you live near him. They don’t have to tell us how to not run into someone, there are repercussions. But there are many things that the government is needed for, at least at this point in time. You have always avoided the questions with these answers of “you know the answer already” or “I provide you the ability to find your own answer”. I think G.A. is calling you on the fact that you always have something negative to say at every other suggestion made yet offer no solutions yourself. I think it is fair of him to do so.

  9. Black Flag says:

    G. A. Rowe

And no authority what-so-ever would accomplish what?

Why do Statists always ignore adjectives? (Must be public schooling)

    Violent authority, G.A.

There is plenty of natural authority – again, refer to your relationship with your mother – a relationship which even USWep in his mixed up demonstration correctly identified how that non-violent authority worked.

Please, all-knowing-and-wise-guru, enlighten those of us whose eyes have beheld the inherent evil that humans bestow upon their fellow beings, your amazing vision of the absolute peace and tranquility of how humans would live in your fantasy world without some sort of authority to answer to.

    Follow this link, G.A. –
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem

After reading that, please come back with your argument.

Just what is your vision of a world without leadership, without any kind of system to provide a moral base?

    AH!

A system with a moral base!

Well done! You’ve got my interest!
    Now, you’re talking my language……!

Are you really ready to accept a system with a moral base?

    So, let’s start softly, sir.

    1) Do we agree that a rational position, earned on reason and logic, must trump and supplant a position based on belief, myth or faith (the latter earned by emotionalism and irrationalism)?

    2) Do we believe in the pursuit of truth?

    3) Do we believe that all men have choice?

    I eagerly await your responses!

    USWeapon

To use your own logic, government is not capable of killing anyone. Only people are. 300 million dead? All government can do is issue an order to kill someone. The person at the helm of the gun does the job.

    Correct.

That is why I’ve said, and I repeat again, it is a dangerous illusion that government is your friend. It entangles the minds of human beings and subjects them to massive contradictions.

When people are confronted with contradictions while unable to articulate their core moral principles, others use this confusion as an opportunity to infect their minds with evil.

Thus, the killing of millions is for the “greater good”…. even you, to a degree, believe killing innocent people for the greater good. The infection is quick and painless, and corrupts the best of people.

And that flaw will not disappear with government disappearing. It will only become more justifiable and have less consequences.

I agree that most people are merely herd animals. That won’t go away.

However, you have it backwards in your second statement.

It is because government legitimizes its killing makes it justifiable and more common – when government is no longer seen as legitimate, the killings become unjustifiable and less common.

The Mafia kills. But we do not see that as legitimate and thus, it is not common.

The Government kills. But most see that as legitimate and thus, 300 million die.

No government doesn’t have to tell us how to deal with our neighbor, but there are repercussions to doing so badly, because you live near him.

I do not assist my neigbhor shoveling his walk because of government orders.

I do not open doors for people with arms full stuff because of government orders.

I do not go to work and provide my skills to my clients because of government orders.

But if you do, I have great pity for you.

  10. Black Flag says:

    I missed responding to this…

You have always avoided the questions with these answers of “you know the answer already” or “I provide you the ability to find your own answer”. I think G.A. is calling you on the fact that you always have something negative to say at every other suggestion made yet offer no solutions yourself. I think it is fair of him to do so.

No, I do not respond negatively to answers to my questions.

I respond negatively to answers to questions I haven’t asked.

I respond negatively to no answers to my questions.

He asked “How something works?”, the evidence surrounds him – and it is far more important for everyone to figure out why it surrounds them and how it works, because it is in that discovery which will answer millions of un-articulate questions these very same people have about a great deal many things.

Learning is a process one puts ones own self through. Me providing answers gives nothing.

“Give man a fish, he eats for a day. Show a man how to fish, and he eats for a life time”.

By forcing a recognition of the real world around them – and questioning “Why?” will provide the basis of making rational and moral decisions on their own, instead of abrogating it to a disinterested and evil third party.

  11. What a true story. 90% of all the people in politics in the last 20yrs have lied greatly to all of us. No matter what side of the line you may stand on. It surpirses me that we have forgotten that its us that has the power not them. If your person in Congress is not doing their job, time to shop until you find one that does do their job. After shopping for a few they will get the hint. These people who spend 60 yrs in Congress have to go. Lets not forget that on election days.
