  1. 😎

  2. Happy Fathers Day to all! I will be away in DC this week babysitting the whiner. I probably should not say that, he may have improved. I have him all by my lonesome, the wife bugged out, from 12 to 6 every day. In the AM he is taking a Spanish immersion course in preparation a bi-lingual pre-K program in the Catholic School (it is a very long story) . In the next 18 hours or so, anybody got an idea where I can take a 3 1/2 year old in DC, just me and him, that might keep him entertained? He lives close to the zoo and knows it like the back of his hand. I figure I will take him to see the big planes at the big Air and Space museum at the Airport and may walk his little butt off at Arlington.

    • In the Smithsonian tech building they have a steam loco. It comes with authentic sounds and a vibrating floor. There is also the dino exhibit.

      • Dale A Albrecht says:

Have they set it up to actually have the moving parts and drive wheels working and not just sound?

Geez, I remember old steam locomotives in PA on the Lackawanna rail line. Thinking about the old whistle blowing and the sounds of wheezing and huffing and rumble of the power…they were a living and breathing machine.

      • Air & Space had an IMAX theater that was terrific forty years ago. It is probably all PC now. They had a movie called “To Fly”. One of the scenes was a through the prop WWI dog fight. The screen fills almost your total vision so when they did the first roll, you’re grabbing the armrests because you have the sensation of rolling with the plane.

    • Just A Citizen says:

      SK

Check if the Museum of Natural History has its DINOSAUR display up. They are live size so that may keep the child awe struck for a while, like thirty minutes maybe. Best O’ Luck!

Otherwise I suggest a stroll around the vet. memorials so the young one can see the Park Rangers and their horses. Horses are always good for another 15 minutes. And then of course there is ICE CREAM.

  3. Since it’s Father’s day-some good advice seems appropriate.

    http://thefederalist.com/2015/06/19/3-ways-to-know-whats-actually-offensive/

    • Offense and its response over the years have changed. My Dad talked about his first 2 weeks in the Army. During that period, if someone called him an SOB and was not smiling, they would get decked. My Grandfather would deck anyone that called him and Englishman, he was Welsh but two generations removed from the old country. In the old days, insults usually got a physical response so were infrequent. The boomer generation was taught to ignore most insults. However, the later generations were taught to never hurt anyone’s feelings hence we now get the PC police in adult communications where we must label the “offender” as some sort of phobic.

      • You have it so right. Was talking to some young folks who were tossing the F-bomb back and forth. Remarked that in my day, that would have cost someone some teeth.

        • The old man was not particular fond of the expression “dumb Polack”. Partially for the Slavic insult but mostly because he was Russian.

          • Dale A Albrecht says:

Stephen….you might like this….I do have many relatives who are Polish, not some residual from an occupation…one night we were telling ethnic jokes and nobody was left untouched. The Polish side obviously had heard them all…but the joke that ended the ribbing was when on of the polish uncles turned to me very seriously and asked me if I spoke any polish? I answered no….He then asked if I could write any Polish?…I said no I didn’t…He then asked if I understood any polish at all? I again answered no….He then capped it all off by saying..”How does it feel to be stupider than a Polack”…there was absolutely no comeback and we all had a good laugh and went on with our party. Nobody was offended in the least, because none was personal.

            • I have a wonderful book published in the 1920’s full of ethnic humor. Everything from he “Sheenies” to “negros” “Micks”, “Polacks”, “Wop’s”, “Spics” and even “Wasps”! Thrifty New Englanders and Scots come in for a beating too.

Every now and then I take it out and secretly enjoy it. Couple years back went to two Don Rickles shows in AC. Young people walked out., Did not get the humor, found it “offensive”. As you point out if it is not personal and favors no particular group, it is just funny not mean spirited.

Funniest thing I ever saw, twenty years ago was in Brooklyn. I was driving down East NY Avenue on my way home in early summer through one of the most devastated black neighborhoods in the city. Blocks away, I could see this huge line snaking around the block in the distance. I then saw a very beat up semi in front of the line. When I pulled up even with the truck, guys were selling watermelons out of the back! Truck had SC plates.

Stereotypes exist because they are true!

  4. Replaying some comments in my mind about who is and owns what and how long ago does it have to be before you lose a claim. Attached is the Map of Europe 215 years ago. How many places look familiar to you? Amazing!

    http://www.euratlas.net/history/europe/1800/

  5. Just to show you how the PC crap infects people, even me. Downstairs doing some work before when I realized that nobody in the media has bothered to make the link between the Church shooting and the coverage of Ferguson and Baltimore. How many days did it take me to put myself in the place of that dumb POS shooter and come to the conclusion the race war was already on?

    • Dale A Albrecht says:

My opinion….when the Pope gets some stones and really cleans house on the pedophiles that they still are protecting and obstruction of justice maybe I’ll take him seriously…..today, there also was a big article on a speech by the Pope decrying that the big powers during WWII did not do much to stop the genocide of the Jews and undesirables…he made no mention that the Catholic led government in Austria prior to Hitler’s invasion made life as a jew impossible..they were severely persecuted and driven out….tell me this how long would it have taken the germans to repair a small stretch of rail to the camps? The effort went to beating the germans and their allies and stop the war and genocide in a much more effective manner….I want to see a lot more information on how the church and the pope at the time really stuck their neck out to stop it themselves. They kept their cossacks pretty clean……when I see lots of evidence how the church really pushed to stop the genocide in their backyard in Bosnia, Serbia and Croatia, maybe I’ll listen….the current pope kept pretty quiet and head below the radar in Argentina to save his skin during the vicious dictatorships

parts of my family are from Oberstdorf Germany (formally in Austria). The towns website flat out said that being a non-catholic got you severely persecuted and prosecuted. My family was Lutheran. The 1st non-catholic church allowed was in 1905.

      • Cassocks not Cossacks!

Actually I’ve known a lot of older Austrian Jews, maybe it was because they were from Vienna (as was Freud) but the society was pretty welcoming to them. Lilly Belitz, now gone was a university graduate in 1912!

During the war, the Church did a lot to spirit Jews away from the Nazi’s in France and Italy. Don’t get much credit for it since Hochuth’s play came out in the early sixties. There is quite a bit of BS about “cooperating” with the Nazi’s.

Couple months back pointed out that a lot of the BS about dropping the A Bomb on the poor Japanese was actually Commie propaganda aimed at the Japanese in the 1950’s and 60’s. Considering the effectiveness of the triumvirate of Reagan, Thatcher and John Paul II in ending that particular scourge do you find it surprising that there were beau coup stories linking Pius XII to the Nazi’s while downplaying the very real stories of heroism in rescuing people?

There is a lot of good info out there on the subject if you dig. I’d pay particular attention to Israeli sources.

Can’t say much about the pedophile thing other than it has brought down a great institution. While priestly offenses are in no case any higher than educators let’s say and cover-ups just as common, the fact that these are priests is a horror. There was this time in psychology when everybody thought pedophiles could be treated. Used to tell us that back in the mid ’60’s. Turned out not to be the case, some just cannot be rewired. The church fell into the same trap on that one. But I, as a catholic must hold them to a far higher standard and they did not meet it. Like to think and I am pretty certain it’s true that the do your own thing, liberal, Post Vatican II thinking which had been in the works since at least the late ’40’s had a lot to do with it too. I do believe in God and I do believe that there is a devil and he has been very busy, very, very busy.

        • SK, correct me if I’m wrong, but shouldn’t the Pope be sticking to non political talk, rather than give people a reason to call him a “Marxist in Pope’s clothing” and the “Globalist Pope”?

        • Dale A Albrecht says:

I have friends who were driven out of Austria during the 30’s. The Father was a professor in Vienna. The Mother was an opera singer who toured all over Europe. That said they were allowed 1 small box of personal possessions that could be mailed. They did not arrive where they were heading to in France. Started with zero. Escaped from France when Hitler struck and the French were very cooperative with the transportation to the camps. Needless to say they did wind up here in the US via Canada. The Father had a tough time finding any teaching position…one side wouldn’t hire a Jew and the other side wouldn’t hire a germanic. This was well into WWII

One should not have to DIG and DIG to find out a overall policy by the church, much less any church in Europe that would really stick their neck out in condemnation of the persecution of the undesirables in the 30’s and 40’s under Hitler. There were individuals for sure…….Now in defense of actions in Poland. The population in its entirety was considered a lower species and everyone had to fight for survival. They got it from both sides by socialist wonderlands of Germany and Russia.

    • I would post a comment-but I simply don’t know what to say– except I have been surprised by many things the Pope has said-not sure what is true and what is taken out of context-but I’m not Catholic and I do not believe in Papal Infallibility. Course, it’s possible that I do not understand the actual meaning of the Pope being infallible.

      • I will probably be sent to hell…..but the Pope needs to stick to spiritual things. Well, can’t be sent to hell..have already been there……

        • Ditto

        • Dale A Albrecht says:

Maybe and that is a maybe maybe…when the church apologizes for the persecution and prosecution of scientists like Galileo…maybe when they apologize for the inquisition…maybe when they apologize for the slave camps called missions in California. Or any of the church endorsed actions in Mexico and latin america. The pope back dividing the world between Spain and Portugal and it not be for spiritual domination.

When God designed the world he had the forsight to make plants that live on CO2 and create Oxygen for us the breath. But the other month the National Science council after a big pow wow in DC said the planting trees is not a viable option to combating climate change. IT’S TO EXPENSIVE….my answer to that is planting trees does not make GE rich. So a solution that has no political cronyism so not a solution. Figures

        • Dale A Albrecht says:

Different subject….have you a specific recommendation of vineyards in Texas? Have you heard of Brennans?.

          • THere are several great vineyards in the Texas Hill country. Brennan’s is a great Vineyard to visit. If you are looking to tour Vineyards, there is what they callTexas Wine Trail….and it lists all the vineyards in Texas and it starts in Grapevine (DFW)…..Brennans is located in Comanche, Texas and the best time to visit is early spring or early summer……being in Comanche in August or September is ok….you just have to like heat and humidity. They make a great Cabernet….

I favor White Burgundy’s myself but have grown to like the light Zins…..Llano Estacado in far west Texas gets a bad rap from time t time but they do make a great Zin…but for a tour…it is disappointing….the Vineyards are hard to get started out there as high as it is…3300 ft MSL…..is a little high and in the winter it gets very windy and cold. Llano Estacado winery buys its grapes from central and southern Texas…..but if you are looking to travel wineries…take the Trail…..if you are interested in just buying some wines…Brennans is as good as Texas has to offer….the wineries on the Trail are all great. Barking Rocks is pretty cool as well …..in Granbury, Texas. My son got married out in the vineyards there…but having a bottle with a label of Barking Rocks or Turning Stone….is pretty funny but good wines.

            • Dale A Albrecht says:

I pulled a great article about the wines in Texas and the wine trail. Brennans topped the list. First I’ll sample wines by having them shipped. That limits the selection for shipment to NC. Again Brennan’s tops the list….thought I’d try them 1st…….heat and humidity…what’s that? The air during the summer on the coast in NC can get pretty thick and oppressive.

              • Yeah…I know that the humidity can be pretty high there……I will be in Charlotte from Aug 25 to Aug 30……are you anywhere close by? I am playing in the US Masters disc golf tournament that week.

( I know JAC…it ain’t round ball but my son got me started in this and it is a really great sport that he and I play together as father and son doubles…I am an amateur and he is the professional..actually makes pretty good money at it )

              • Dale A Albrecht says:

Sir….right around 3.5 hours drive…all interstate…like to meet you if time in your schedule can be arranged,

      • Quick lesson, Pope speaks on Faith and Morals he is infallible. Done very, very rarely. Puts on the crown, sits in the throne of St. Peter and speaks. The rest of this stuff is just a letter, an encyclical. Recommendations you should abide by because they are “good”. Please note what the press has NOT covered. There are several prominent anti-abortion messages in the encyclical . the only coverage I’ve seen of that is decidedly crazy left pointing out, how can you save the planet if you don’t kill off the excess babies?

I think as a Catholic, the Pope is sticking his nose where he should not. The press coverage is mostly an interpretation of what the press thinks he said. For example, he never said dogs go to heaven. Somehow everybody jumped on that bandwagon. Turns out a Pope did say something like it once, it was the very stiff and unprogressive Paul VI in the 1970’s.

As a good Catholic I would never say dogs don’t go to heaven because I would never limit what God can do. I fully expect that my old man at age 21, nose unbroken, is running around heaven right now followed by his adoring dog.

        • Thanks-figured there must be more too it-no man is free from the influence of sin.

        • Dale A Albrecht says:

One of my firm beliefs is that the communist/socialist/progressive state has to destroy religion and faith. Blame it for all ones percieved ills. It is just a matter of time that the socialist mantra will be unable to fulfill its promises of creating heaven on earth or a workers paradise for all people….we have enough examples of that fallacy already. We just have not had it affect us YET in an in your face collapse. That is what happens to the other guy. In other words we are in denial of the inevidable.

Stephen…I do not in any way let the Lutherans off either…..As I dug into the church that my relatives founded in Scranton PA, One of the major reasons for the split off from the other neighborhood church was that there were just getting to be to many “Poles”….go figure when they themselves in many cases emmigrated to America to escape persecution…This information is not from any blog, but actually from relatives that still remember the real reason.

  6. “Employees are being told “to help create an environment for open and honest dialogue.”

Sure that”s what they are doing-trying to have an honest dialogue-I’d say they are trying not to get sued.

    http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/06/21/exclusive-goldman-sachs-tells-employees-wife-insults-gays-and-transgenders/

    • Dale A Albrecht says:

IBM once did that and when the honest dialog occurred the career destruction began and honest feedback ceased

  7. Thank you for the poll idea. I can assure you that no more than 2 or 3 percent of the Personal Liberty audience would “vote for Hillary” regardless of the GOP nominee, and that few if any of those who would would consider themselves “Republicans” or conservatives. But most of all, thank you for this little insight into the establishment’s mindset. I have been telling my readers about this for many years, but your mistaken missive puts it into a whole new light for readers having trouble shaking the false left/right paradigm.
    http://personalliberty.com/a-revealing-d-c-oops-moment/

  8. I am sure that Stephen and Dale will back me up on this…..But the racial strife in the 50s and 60’s was never settled and will never be settled. Lyndon Johnson was wrong and he was, unfortunately a Texan…..whenever you tried to sit down and talk with other races….you cannot pretend that differences do not matter….you cannot take a magic stick or a spell or pot and make a racial Mulligan’s Stew. Look at today…in all the public schools….go look into a lunchroom of school kids and you will see segregation. Water seeks its own level, to coin a phrase.

How many of you played an organized sport.? Everybody worked together as a team on the field and in practice…but what happened afterwards…..everybody seeks their own little space….on the basis of race. YOu cannot force living together…races are different in how they live. Everyone knows this as well as I….drive around your own city and look at the “enclaves” of people. Music is different….dancing is different, customs are different….

What HAS happened…is that this great society that LBJ tried to build…..has done the opposite…it has created a society of dependent classes….

A quick personal observation….this took place in the 80’s. My son in high school had a very good black friend. I did not raise my children in a discriminatory fashion at all..,,His friend’s name was Devon…my son’s name Paul….They were in ROTC together, played basketball together…you get the idea. Devon was welcomed at our house and spent many a night there and even travelled with us on a vacation. Devon was accepted by all Paul’s friends. However, Paul was never invited over to Devon’s. Paul was never introduced to Devon’s friends….in short, Devon had to lie to his own parents when he spent the night with my son. Devon’s explanation to Paul was that his parents would be very upset because Devon was a friend of a “white boy”….Deveon would be called “Uncle Tom” just like Sharpton has been calling the blacks that are not supporting rioting “Uncle Tom”. Devon even told my son that he would be accosted and beaten if he went to Devon’s…

The whole point,….you cannot make oil and water mix….you will not make races mix. Nothing has changed except….the slavery of blacks in a welfare system designed not to help but control.

    • Dale A Albrecht says:

So true…you may have individuals mix but not the overall group. It’s nature, What is the old saying…”Birds of a feather flock together”

Anyway…school for me was pretty much upper middle class “white” populated schools. They reflected the neighborhoods 100%. After I left school and the “forced” busing the school became at least 50% black. They were bused, the locals went to private school and were not bused. The neighborhood remained as it was. Upper middle class and housing costs landing and leveling off later to around $1.2 M. Today….the school has become a charter school licking the busing and forces integration. Regardless of who you are and want to take the curriculum…you get yourself there. The school actually reflects the demographics of the overall San Fernando Valley…OK….but the neighborhood is still upper middle class and white with rare exception.

But also has the tag by the LAPD as having one of the highest crime rates in LA. B&E and auto theft….that is NOT a locally driven crime stat. The community is a target.

      • THe fact is that nothing has changed in 50 years….nothing…..except the progressive party is keeping them down and keeping them in chains.

        • Dale A Albrecht says:

I agree with the keeping them in chains, but unfortunately they are voluntarily putting the manacles on this time. A generalization but valid

A side story about racism. In the 50’s when my Father was working on the “Sage” project, he traveled to DC with a co-worker named Augie (August) Baptiste. A very well spoken and articulate and an engineer. When they went to check into the hotel in DC, Augie was denied a room due to segregation and the good old Jim Crow laws enforced even in the nations capital. Needless to say my Dad walked out also.

          • Yes, we had a gentleman working for us….His name was John Henry (first name)..he did not know his last name. Really nice man….we took him on every hunting and fishing trip…he loved it. But, in Dulce, New Mexico on the Jicarilla Indian Reservation, they told him he had to sleep in the boiler room and had to eat his meals outside…..these were Apache Indians that did this…..so we left and went to Farmington not too far away…and stayed there. THey would not let him stay in a room either….so we sneaked him in one of ours. This was in 1965.

            • Dale A Albrecht says:

Racism and bigotry has no exclusivity…regardless of what the MSM says….The next time I go to the big city (Raleigh) I’ll go into the library at NCSC. In a small book of essays by Jose Marte a cuban revolutionary (pre-1898) had a good one on racism. It is in spanish so I’ll have to translate it again. The blacks in a college in Durham went ballastic. The presentation at the school was by a Black women who was pre-med. She was shocked by the reaction. I had helped her with the translation, because to translate literally missed the thrust of the essay….I can post it in Spanish or translate…which do people prefer?

            • Dale A Albrecht says:

Sir…maybe the Apaches have along memory. Weren’t many of the soldiers that eventually “pacified” the Apaches, Buffalo Soldiers?

  9. Just announced……the EU and Greece have broken off talks and that Greece will be in default very shortly…..If that happens….watch what will happen to Italy, Spain, and France.

    • Dale A Albrecht says:

Is that new news this AM? Weren’t the creditors demanding a mandatory “buy-in” whereas the government and banks would seize a certain percent of people saving above a certain value. Over the weekend I was seeing that the people were pulling their money out of the banks in droves. Like what occured in Cyprus?

      • Yes…..heard this morning. It was a news breakin…

        • Dale A Albrecht says:

My news this AM was that they are all optimistic of a deal by the weeks end. “US Stocks trading higher on the news” ????? bit of manipulation maybe?

          • It is possible that this was an old news cast but I dont think so…You have to look at the which stocks are trading higher…..those not tied to Europe are doing pretty good…but the investment in the Euro dollar is not popular. Our family does not deal in Euros…we want nothing to do with them. We are still investing in China Silver over other currencies. We are not investing anything in Europe….it is a lost cause. Even Buffet and the Kochs and Soros is pulling out of the European markets…

Everybody is in arms about China buying gold and silver…..which is true…but it is taking its gold and silver purchases and casting coinage and bullion and selling it back out on the market….the OPEN market, I might add. It is not hoarding gold and silver in its own treasuries…..

Russia is doing exactly the same thing….and they are pegging the coinage to the USD. Not their own currency….

@ Buck…..you might be seeing some of this? I am not sure it is reaching to shelters….but do you see sheltering in Europe anymore…especially the Swiss, whom is devaluing their currency this year.

            • Oh, and someone asked me te other day about gold storage in Texas….the answer to that is yes we are….(I just found out where it is) and we, Texas, will be pulling all of our gold out of New York and bringing it here….and we are hearing that if we do this….other states want to do this as well and bring it to Texas. I wish I knew what was going on in New York to spur this but I have no information on it. As far as family investments in metals…we have possession of our ownand not in Federal Institutions…they are untrustworthy.

  10. JAC…..what an amazing golf match…….WOW !!! Kudos to Fox for their presentation of the match….they made it happen so everyone could watch live…the first time use of technology where you can listen to how much the caddies and the golfers talk and plan….to the tracer on the shots…to the camera positions that allowed the public to actually view the undulating fairways and greens and not some one dimensional view…..absolutely amazing.

    • Just A Citizen says:

      I am sad, I missed it. 😦

Was hanging with friends at Diamond Lake, Washington.

Did see a few minutes on Saturday and I agree. The ball flight tools was outright cool. To see how much those guys work the ball. And the arrows showing green slopes explained the approach shots. Like the first hole where guys were hitting to the hill on the right side.

      • Yes..and the par 4 that was only 240 yards long…but the players hit the ball way right and it looked like a miniature golf hole the way the ball reacted…..but the stint on the green was cut to 12……like putting on a glass table top.

        • So sustainable golf, huh? That course was horrible and it was difficult to watch. Based on the players’ complaints, guessing a major won’t be played there again. But happy for Speith!

  11. Texas announces deep fryers return to schools……..Jun. 22, 2015 – 3:22 – Regulation failed to turn obesity tide….obesity went up instead of down with the elimination of fried foods….Texas says: Welcome back French Fries and donuts…and good bye Obama’s lunch program…..it is gone….kids can bring anything that they want from home or buy at the cafeteria….it is a personal preference and the State should say nothing.

    • Dale A Albrecht says:

Good for Texas…Bring back PE….let the kids roam free…lock out TV and computer games until 2200 or weekends. The paranoia caused by the constant drumbeat of the 24 hour news cycle where to fill time they have to pick news of all sorts that is totally not relevant.

I was just looking at a B&B to spend my birthday at up in Charles Town WVA. Near Harpers Ferry. It is against State Law to rent a room to anyone under 18 years old. How much of that is nationwide I do not know. I suspect lots. I wonder when I traveled back when I was 16 what I would have done when heading up to the mountains to the ski resorts…sleep in the car or park bench and get arrested for vagrancy…or stay at home and get FAT.

    • gmanfortruth says:

This is wonderful! I’ve been following this closely. Hopefully this is only the beginning of telling the government they can’t just take stuff because they think they can.

    • Just A Citizen says:

I urge everyone to read this summary again and focus on where the two Obama appointees landed on the issues.

If you cannot believe how out in left field these two are, relative to Constitutional protections of freedom, liberty and property, then you had better to everything to keep another “Progressive” out of the White House and the Senate.

    • Dale A Albrecht says:

Maybe the government actions to keep prices high for food will start being dismantled….like the huge subsidies to divert corn to ethanol production instead of food. Which has a net zero affect on energy and the production of CO2

One of the overt actions of FDR’s economic packages was to increase prices by eliminating competion and generally corrupting the free market. Maybe some of the legacies of the progressive economic policies of the 30’s will start going good-bye….It’s to bad that Congress will not procatively go after the policies, but then to many of them are in the pockets of the big agricultural producers. They then can come away with their hands clean and blame someone else. The unfortunate thing is that there are not that many smaller producers that can take their case through the court system and that is only if you can show harm to you personally….not just that the law is wrong and unconstitutional.

    • In a win for privacy Monday, the Supreme Court ruled that police must obtain a warrant before forcing hotels to hand over information about guests.

The court, in a 5-4 decision, struck down a 116-year-old Los Angeles law that required hotels to record and store and make available to police information including guest names, addresses and vehicle descriptions for 90 days.
      http://personalliberty.com/supreme-court-strikes-warrantless-hotel-record-searches/

      Two strikes against Progressive!

      • Dale A Albrecht says:

Now if they will make it 3 for 3 with the ACA subsidies…..I truly am against the health care law as it is today, basically a budget busting unlimited care bill and a boon to the insurance industry and health care givers in reality.

Back when I lived in Italy years ago the universal healthcare was very basic. It was minimalist in nature. It was not a no care withheld program. One of the catches was…..you had to work in some way. Part time something. They were able to keep the cost sort of within bounds. Obviously as part of the EU that can not exist anymore but even so there are limits. A friend from Italy who lives here now, sends 100% of her income back to Italy to assist her family there. Like medical procedures not covered, tuition short falls, and in the case of unemployement all expenses which is frequent. Property taxes do not cover school. That’s extra. Property taxes are paid on completed houses. Somehow most stand alone houses never seem to get completed totally. never in an unhealthy way, just lack of stucco on a wall they don’t look at anyway.

    • He was so proud of his slimy behavior, he got real cocky and broadcasted it everywhere he spoke-not even a speck of shame for his actions-obviously he thought it was all totally acceptable until he got called out -now he’s all self righteous, calling people liars and denying his own words.

But hey, he made a fortune and the little bit of bad press probably won’t cost him any significant damage. And if it does-it won’t be because he did underhanded slimy crap-it’ll be because he was stupid enough to admit it.

    • Dale A Albrecht says:

Kathy…It is sad. Wasn’t Pelosi’s quote “You have to pass it to see it” Totally flies in the face of just about every out take from Obama speeches in the video.

I was just thinking (scary thought) The progressives do hold themselves usually as intellectually superior. My thought is the reason why they refuse to explain or discuss honestly is that they feel us clods are to stupid to understand anyway so why waste their breath. That is why in my belief to many of the liberals resort to name calling instantly and use push button phrases that are guaranteed to shut the opposition up. Or is it possible that they themselves not understand the full impact of the policies being enacted and are just automatons “God wills it” therefore not to be questioned…..Active liberal SUFA members exempt from the my generalization.

  14. Please tell me that this last speech by the Pope did not say that you are Christion if you support freedom of choice, and that you are not Christian if you sell weapons and you are not Christain if you sell ammunition….and that you are not Christian for you possess seame?

tell me he did not say this….

  15. Just A Citizen says:

Why would any AMERICAN give a rate behind what the POPE has to say about anything.

American Catholics overwhelmingly do NOT adhere to the Church’s doctrine. And the rest of us should care less what a man appointed by other men claims to be the TRUTH of God or Jesus.

Now for a thought of the day relating to religion.

I saw what initially looked like a good argument about the reality of Jesus’ existence and the story about him. It went along the lines of: “Why would Christians, Peter and the others, subject themselves to vitriol, ridicule and death, if they did not absolutely belief what they were saying?”

Like I said, kind of makes sense doesn’t it! Until you consider the thousands if not millions of people in other religions who have done exactly that same thing. This included the heretics of ancient Greece and Rome, several Hindu sects and of course the Muslims.

The former is relevant because virtually every human today recognized Greek and Roman religions as MYTH. Including those who were preaching for their own versions and gods over the establishment’s favorites.

That last one was the key to this comment. Millions follow the word of Muhammed, as written almost two thousand years ago. He claimed to have talked to God directly and was bringing the people the “true word of God”. And thousands all marched off to whatever end they might meet in the name of this new thing they believed..

Do not confuse this for some hating on Christians thing. Just pointing out the flaw in what I initially thought a good defense.

    • Just A Citizen says:

Along these same lines, one of my favorite short arguments:

      Supernatural, by definition cannot exist.

      • Dale A Albrecht says:

So anything “above” nature can not exist. Therefore to “exist” everything must be a part of nature….Or looking at it another way, anything outside of nature will shortly cease to exist…like Kaitlen.

        • LOL…you are a sly one,

        • Just A Citizen says:

Kaitlen is not outside nature. The LABEL he/she has selected is simply a lie.

    • I’m not Catholic. I’m not one that anyone would call religious. I believe as I do, that’s all I need. As to your comments, I know LOTS of Catholics who are pissed about what he has said. The local Catholic church on Sundays is packed, and this is rural. Several in Youngstown Ohio, have been packed on Sunday’s with cars parked on the roads. They may not be in numbers where you live, but they sure are here. Central American countries are huge Catholic countries, just watch the TV when the Pope shows up. Do not discount what he has said, although we both disagree. This is propaganda at it’s finest. I’ll say it as I see it….the Pope is a fraud. He shouldn’t be Pope. He is led by the nose by Globalist’s. His message was FULL of contradictions. The problem is that people will believe. Can you see why I believe little?

      • Just A Citizen says:

        gman

I did not say there are not a lot of Catholics. I said that most do not follow the Church’s dictates. Contraception is forbidden……………….. how many AMERICANS adhere to that one?

        • Where are you getting your info on Catholic’s? But, to be fair, I was not just talking about Americans, because far more Catholic’s are to our South. But for the record, Most Cathoilc’s in my neck of the woods are devout. Maybe those in your part of the world are not, which would not be a surprise, considering how things are so different from place to place.

For example, here, during Lent, Friday night fish dinners are easily the number one meal, and every place offering them are packed. I like an occasional fish dinner and love Walleye, but Friday’s are crazy around here during Lent. I don’t actually have any facts about contraception usage by Catholic’s, do you?

          • Dale A Albrecht says:

Wrong spot for the reply to the Colonels question about institutional racism……does any one else remember the mandatory fish sticks on Friday from the school cafeteria? The only way to avoid them was to bring your own lunch…..they should go down as a crime against humanity.

        • how many AMERICANS adhere to that one? Shouldn’t the question pertain to Catholic’s, rather than American’s ? Really a poorly written question considering the subject.

Try to stay focused please! I raised the question about American Catholics. I shouldn’t have to repeat myself every time when continuing a discussion on the same topic.

  17. Oh, boy, here we go again…..Institutionalized Racism……what a crock of poop. So, I have taken to task to ask people to define “Institutional racism”…

So let us start here…………..I am sure that everybody will look it up, but what is institutional racism…

    • More garbage from the Progressive propaganda machine that the parrotmonkeys repeat over and over, not knowing what it is. Something to think about. If the powers that be were to “make” a financial collapse, with the idea of pointing blame to a certain group, is that “blame” part not already done? Everything is about blaming whites, by the Left Wing media. There is no “institutionalized Racism”, no more than there is a “vast right wing conspiracy” about Clinton getting some head in the oval office. The difference is one thing….The minorities are getting turned against us crackers. There is a reason. That reason is not votes. It don’t take a monkey to know that a divided nation will fail.

    • Dale A Albrecht says:

Mandated by law covers it. Example would be the Jim Crow laws. Or to exist you have to convert to a specific sect of Islam. Or one is insured of guarenteed things by virtue of their gender, race or ethicity.

    • Just A Citizen says:

      Good morning my Texican friend.

There absolutely IS institutional racism in the USA.

The media is an American institution, and it is clearly racist.

The NAACP is an American institution, and it is clearly racist.

The Universities are an American Institution, and they are clearly racist.

Now all these institutions who are virtually praying for the day “whites” become a minority have not thought their plan through. As usually is the case for Progressives.

What happens when those angry, bible toting, gun loving whites become an “OFFICIAL MINORITY” in the USA?? Is their plan to put their thumb on this minority to seek revenge for their perception of century old offenses? How do they think this well armed “minority” will react to being put down by the man?

      • Dale A Albrecht says:

Any job that is restrictive by quotas based on race gender or ethnicity is racist. That covers government jobs. Not the best candidate but just keep lowering the standards until you reach the “CORRECT” racial and gender mix. When this comes to public safety jobs like being a fireman,,,being PC be damned…I want the best.

  18. Here are some statistics that are being roundly ignored by a media eager to push the lies that ooze out of Al Sharpton’s mouth on a daily basis: The real statistics show that cops kill whites at almost double the rate that they kill blacks.

Talks show host and columnist Larry Elder did some actual research (something the old media establishment avoids) and found that the claim that blacks are killed by cops more often than whites are killed is simply untrue. In fact, he found that the death by cop for blacks is down 75 percent since 1999.

So, not only is the “Hands Up” saying based on a lie, the entire, racbaiting movement against the police is based on a lie.

In 2012, according to the CDC, 140 blacks were killed by police. That same year 386 whites were killed by police. Over the 13-year period from 1999 to 2011, the CDC reports that 2,151 whites were killed by cops — and 1,130 blacks were killed by cops.

Police shootings, nationwide, are down dramatically from what they were 20 or 30 years ago. The CDC reported that in 1968, shootings by law enforcement — called “legal intervention” by the CDC — was the cause of death for 8.6 out of every million blacks. For whites the rate was was .9 deaths per million

By 2011, law enforcement shootings caused 2.74 deaths for every million blacks, and 1.28 deaths for every million whites. While the death-by-cop rate for whites has held pretty steady over these last 45 years, hovering just above or below the one-in-a-million level, the rate for blacks has fallen. In 1981, black deaths by cop stood at four in a million, but since 2000 has remained just above or below two in a million.

So what’s driving this notion that there is now an “epidemic” of white cops shooting blacks when in the last several decades the numbers of blacks killed by cops are down nearly 75 percent?

    • Are you NOT seeing the same stuff that started the Arab Spring occurring here? This is all so typical of what the US has done to so many other countries, how can anyone not see what is happening? This Obama and his minions trying to establish the grounds for an American Spring.

    • Dale A Albrecht says:

Political control and power. Divide and conquer comes to mind. Didn’t the old Soviet Union to keep control for so long used that tactic very effectively with an ample amount of terror thrown in. Nobody could trust anybody even their own children.

    • Just A Citizen says:

      d13

They are not actually lying, per se. It is the killings per million or per hundred thousand “RATE” to show a higher “PROPORTION” of blacks killed.

But if the statistics utilize the number killed per criminal contacts the numbers switch again. Showing a slightly higher proportion of whites to blacks. The proportion is higher for Blacks in the teen to mid 20 age groups and declines over time with whites being much higher in the older age brackets. The theory is more whites killed by police on domestic violence and other such domestic dispute cases as they get older.

Here is the very UGLY truth. Violence is much higher among YOUNG BLACK men than among their white counterpart. It is also growing among the YOUNG HISPANIC population, due to gangs. If the Black Community want their children to stay out of prison or not get killed by cops then they need to stop rationalizing their children’s violence. THEY need to put a stop to this behavior.

The “Silent Man” or “The Quiet man”?…if so one of my all time favorites…..what always impressed me about Miss O’hara was she did her own stunts and sword fighting in films. I have a DVD of the movie with a separate disk containing the movie with voice over by Miss O’Hara. She narrates the movie from an insider’s viewpoint. She talks with nostalgia and sadness about “Duke”, Ward Bond and others who have passed away.

  20. Isn’t it amazing how the Confederate Flag has been turned to a symbol of hate….It is further amazing that the reason for the Civil War was solely an issue of slavery. It is really interesting to read Wiki’s definition and reason for the Civil War….and it is a wonder how many people put their faith in Wiki…it is wrong for more than it is correct.

So, a flag is a symbol that actually says something…..so, would somebody point me to a definition of where any Confederate Battle Flag is a symbol of HATE.

So, if there is no definition, then the Confederate Flag has become a symbol of hate in whose mind…blacks and politicians that want to be elected? So all of these young and old blacks, who have no idea of the concept of the Civil War or why it actually started….who “claims” that all blacks are descendants of slavery…..the same ones who claim that white servitude also did not really happen…..have been able to change the focus…..but have they actually changed the focus? They and others claim that they are “offended” by any Confederate Battle Flag and, therefore, to spare their feelings. it should be removed from wherever they fly. So….in conclusion, any symbolic flag that anyone finds offensive, should be taken down. Ok…fair is fair…….so, when there are parades and things where flags are flown or disallowed, any offensive flag should be taken down……The Gay Rights Flag, I find offensive…I do not have to have a reason..it is offensive to me…..The LGBT flag is likewise offensive…..so is the Black Panthers flag..I find that offensive. I also find that any KKK Flag is offensive….get rid of it, As a matter if fact, I do not want the Mexican Flag on any flag pole…I find that offensive…..wow…nice slippery slope.

Oh, yes, and I might ask those of you who feel that whites were the first slave owners…..look up Anthony Johnson. See what you find AND see who first went to court for the right to own slaves…..

    • Just A Citizen says:

Your feelings do not matter unless you have the left wing political machine, the media and the self righteous “liberal Yankees” on your side. Then and ONLY THEN do your feelings about such things matter enough to take action.

I watched Chris Matthews going ballistic on Rubio and Huckabee last night because they did not simply say the flag should be removed. They had the audacity to say while they would not fly the flag the issue was up to the people of South Carolina. Matthews and his black guest immediately launched into a tirade on “This is just States Rights in disguise” and of course “We all KNOW what States Rights is really about!”

My viewing of said discussion lasted about 20 seconds. Then I turned to a History channel special on the REAL pirates of the Caribbean.

    • Just A Citizen says:

      d13

I did have one question on the Confed. battle flag displays. One of the comments repeated constantly by the left on this is that the flag was not sanctioned by any southern states until passage of the Civil Rights Act.

That the “southern states” reacted to the act by allowing the flag to be displayed over capitols and other “public places”.

I recall seeing the flag quite often in those days but do not know myself about his claim of “state” sanction.

Trivia for those who are curious. Nevada was a Yankee State. Slave free, state motto is Battle Born as statehood was granted along with California during the Civil War. The union wanted the gold and silver.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas sports teams are called THE REBELS. Remember those great basketball teams, national champions?? The Runnin Rebels of UNLV. Now guess what “flag” would be waived by the students of this Yankee university during football and basketball games in the 60’s and 70’s.

Now a couple years ago the “self appointed self-righteous” decided the mascot of UNLV was no longer acceptable. Banning displays of “that flag” years ago was not enough. They needed to get rid of the “colonel sanders” looking character. TOO OFFENSIVE. Wonder how UNLV was able to recruit all those great BLACK basketball players when “that flag” and “the colonel” character were on display everywhere?

    • Dale A Albrecht says:

I wish this question would be broadcast loud and clear over and over again……WHO sold the Africans into slavery? Sure a hell wasn’t “white” europeans. Where did the vast majority of the “Black” slaves go to? Sure a hell wasn’t to North America. Most went to British territories in the Caribbean and Spanish and Portugese colonies after they ran short of the indiginous populations to work the cane fields and mines.

What also is neglected is the black owning blacks on slave run plantations. One big famous black in NC has an exhibit in the museum. He was a “Free” black who was a much sought after wood working artisan. He also owned a large plantation and slaves.

When were the “sanctamonious” europeans finally driven out of their colonial empires in Africa and Asia. Mid 1960’s. Why are the problems still persisting in Africa…the insistance by the europeans and UN agreement that the colonial borders will stay the same and not revert back to the original tribal boundries.

We do have our problems here but as we have all said…nowhere has a country ever been so inclusive as ours and actually had so FEW problems…

  21. Just A Citizen says:

Re the Confederate battle flag and such things.

I have read many comments on the left wing sites this past week, about the SC shootings, the flag, etc, etc.

One thing was absolutely shocking to me. There is a large segment of our population, calling themselves Progressives and Liberals, who out right detest all things “southern”.

The “South” are a bunch of traitors and those civil war figures should have been “hung” immediately at wars end. The venom and vitriol of people posting TODAY is more vile than much of what was written during or immediately after the war.

Although most of it does match up with the propaganda from the North at the time. Where southerners were in fact portrayed as “traitors”, etc. etc.

There were MANY comments about how the US should “invade the South” one more time to “clean out the vermin once and for all”. As one person said, “to kick their ass and teach them a final lesson”. Couldn’t help noticing the irony of the statement “final lesson”.

The “LEFT” is convinced that the Republican party is RACIST because all the RACIST democrats in the south are now Republicans. They don’t even discuss the northern migration to the south in the past two decades, or that many of those northerners vote Republican as well. They are convinced the South is not much better than it was in the 1950j’s.

Now I found myself having a distinctive “rebel” feeling deep down as I have read these comments and listened to the garbage on TV. I was born and raised in Yankee country. As far as I know, no family member of mine has ever lived in a State farther south than Virginia. And that was back in the 1600’s. Today this Yankee Boy is seriously thinking about acquiring a Confederate Battle Flag to display in my front yard.

One thought on the flag itself and those who howl about it. They simply cannot stand the idea that perhaps those flying the flag are doing so over their “REBEL” feelings towards an oppressive Federal Govt. It is easy for them to link the racist factor to this flag. But notice they had the same reaction to the Gadsen Flag. They even tried to link that flag to the “racist southern mindset” by trying to portray the “Tea Party” as being mostly “southerners” who are obviously “racist”.

Down deep they are reacting against a growing population of REBELS. Those REBELLING against their oppressive self righteous rhetoric and behavior.

    • Today this Yankee Boy is seriously thinking about acquiring a Confederate Battle Flag to display in my front yard.

JAC, get out of my head! I’ve been thinking the same thing! I can relate to every word.
One of these days you will make a good Rebel. 🙂

By the way, I read that Walmart is pulling the Rebel flag off their shelves and discontinuing online sales as well. Hmmm, that’s kinda coincidental.

      • I would fly one too, except no one will see it! 🙂

But once you discard reality and truth you allow people to create as many Universes as they wish. Whether they are true is not relevant any longer. Only that they BELIEVE what they keep telling themselves.

We are also witnessing the victory of Emotion over Reason, Rationalization over Logic, collective hysteria over thoughtful purpose. Apparently emotion is much stronger than reason as it appears no amount of “reason” can dissuade most people from their destructive emotional path.

Good read and good question at the end. My answer is NO, it will not work out so well for the “establishment” elephants.

    http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2015/06/why_is_the_democratic_party_so_disciplined.html

Here is my read on “parties”. The two party system does work better than multiple parties, until one side becomes entrenched. It only takes one, and that one has been the Dems up until Mr. Obama was elected. Funny how the Dems screamed foul when the Reps started acting the same.

Anyway, if the Dems keep up their hard left stance and control and if the R establishment continues with its hard core control there is a chance of a Third Party forming which is comprised of the moderate Dems and Libertarian/Tea Party republicans.

This third party would soon be a major party and most likely the establishment Republicans would fall by the way side. The Dems would then be the minority “Socialist Party”.

Otherwise we will see the same story playing out for decades. Dem and Rep delineated by the hard core on each side and those getting elected being a range of values, depending on which state they run in and how they come across to the majority who become “independents”.

I can see Buck or Mathius voting for a Rubio or Paul, but not a Huckabee or Cruz. There are some “western Dems” I could see voting for….if they did not change their spots to get King Harry’s and Queen Nancy’s blessings.

QUIZ time. The following includes several definitions of “liberalism”. Please identify which statement is in contradiction to the others. For those in Terra Linda…. which ONE doesn’t fit.

    Liberalism, a political ideology

Classical liberalism, a political or social philosophy advocating the freedom of the individual, parliamentary systems of government, nonviolent modification of political, social, or economic institutions to assure unrestricted development in all spheres of human endeavor, and governmental guarantees of individual rights and civil liberties.

Conservative liberalism, a variant of liberalism, combining liberal values and policies with conservative stances, or, more simply, representing the right-wing of the liberal movement

Economic liberalism, the ideological belief in organizing the economy on individualist lines, such that the greatest possible number of economic decisions are made by private individuals and not by collective institutions.

Social liberalism, the belief that liberalism should include social justice and that the legitimate role of the state includes addressing issues such as unemployment, health care, education, and the expansion of civil rights

I believe SK is a big collector. I had a several thousand book collection going back to the mid 1700’s…I’m down to around a thousand now. I had a 1st edition of “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” by Harriet Beecher Stowe, The two volumes were buried at the bottom of a box of books bought at an auction. No one knew they were there. I kept core collections that I read over and over and got rid of the ones gathering dust. I’m currently fleshing out missing books.

    • Sounds like some good reading! 🙂

Since Congress has been in the control of the GOP since the last mid-term election and their vow to really hold Obama in check, they sure are batting a 1000. Obama has gotten everything he’s wanted without much fight and in-fact fast tracking bills with serious implications to the US. Trade bill will be a done deal by Wednesday.

The States and the SCOTUS seem to be reading and doing the peoples will just a little bit more accurately

    • This is a perfect example of why voting is useless. They are all the same, they just talk a different tune. What a complete joke they have made of those that think voting works.

The sanctimonious “left” who are so quick to preach tolerance, diversity and inclusion are the 1st to scream “you can’t say that” and are the 1st to promise violence if anyone speaks on any topic other than their view of how things should be.

  31. I did read that JAC said we are in a Fascist point in time, which I agree with. In less than five minutes with the TV on, it was about getting rid of the Confederate flag. The Progressives are trying to control everything, and FOX news is right there with them.

    Eyes are opening finally!

    • Dale A Albrecht says:

I have not watched Fox in quite some time. Though there were some select programs that were well done. Unfortunately, I feel that they were coerced into a more MSM view after the Rupert Murdock dust-up a few years ago. During the investigation and “dialog” there were threats of loss of their FCC license. I think a deal was struck…..much like during the later part of the Bush administration the disclosure of the aiding and abetting tax evasion by numerous Swiss banks, the DOJ promised full disclosure. So far under the Obama administration there have been ZERO disclosed other than the banks agreeing to pay fines. Not one individual procecuted….my bet, quiet side payments on the QD and aquiecence (sp) to just about anything the government wants. Like the billions paid by banks like BOA to make things go away and not one dime went back to the treasury and to any of the peope. $’s only went to the activist groups who support Obama and his legions. I’d also bet that many were very big DEM contributers. If the the violators were republicans I’d wager it would be all over the press about the GOP and their adherants are stealing from the poor…..No charges against Corzine as an example.

Sales of the “Stars and Bars” sky rocket. Maybe the flag will take on a new meaning other than the battle flag of the confederacy. That is REBELLION against slavery….how’s that!!

  33. Just A Citizen says:

Watched History Channel on the Mob tonight. It ends with Fed agents stating that there will always be organized crime BECAUSE…………………..wait for it…………………..Capitalism necessarily creates black markets and organized crime.

Also tonight I had a thought on how to deal with all this propaganda and stupidity. I think the civil discourse of ideas and showing the fallacies, etc. does not work. I felt this as I watched some Donkey talk over Megan Kelly on the issue of the Southern Poverty Law Center identifying conservative women on their “hate crimes list”. Yep, women from Fox news and Pam Geller are on the SPLC Hate List. So apparently is Dr. Ben Carson. Why? Because these people expressed a differing opinion on Gay Marriage or dared denounce Radical Islam.

This guy just denied the whole BS the SPLC was committing and spouted his talking points from who know who.

So I thought, Megan should stop trying to argue or ask questions. She should have simply said “you sir are a liar, you are deliberately slandering people for your own sick agenda, and you are supporting a left wing terrorist organization”.

But instead Megan declared at the end of the interview that this guy is “a good guy and I really like him”.

Now I wonder what would happened if everyone started calling all the crap weasels out on National TV every time they pulled their silly garbage. Huckabee tried the other night on the flag issue. But he should have gotten outraged at Chuck Todd for pulling an ignorant trick by accusing Huck of supporting racism because he said the NC flag was a NC issue.

Response instead: “Well Chuck, why do you support pedophiles having access to young children in bathrooms? And now that you mention it, have you stopped beating your wife?”

    • Dale A Albrecht says:

It is something how just disagreeing and being in opposition is being labeled a “Hate” crime.

So the FBI says that Capitalism brings on the black markets and organized crime etc….Well, in a way that is true, but it’s a reaction to liberal progressive policy. We need to save you from yourself laws. example…prohibition a progressive law really put the exclamation point to the criminal underworld. In a word, the mob gave the people what they wanted and that is capitalism…..the only thing that held the Soviet Union from imploding many years before it did was the underworld at least getting the people some goods on the black market…..

….since when does the NC flag have the confederate battle flag associated with it?

      • Just A Citizen says:

        Dale

Yes, so the correct answer is that Organized Crime is created by INTEFERENCE in the FREE MARKET of human life.

Oh, and the correct answer to the quiz yesterday was Social Liberalism. It was the one that was completely in conflict with all or most of the others. Because its implementation requires imposing upon the civil and human rights of others. It is the only definition which creates groups or classes of people with different treatment under the law.

        • Dale A Albrecht says:

I’ve gotten so used to skimming articles…I re-read the “liberal” definitions real close….of course you are correct with the bastardization of “liberalism” flipping and becoming “social liberalism”

Could this also be akin to civil rights are being violated if you are placed in a mental institution under close supervision as in the past. or quick analysis, here take these psych altering drugs and released unto society without supervision…..how many of these mass shooting these past several years meet that condition….also you notice the flag issue so quickly was brought up and it completely deflected the discussion away from the mental/medical side of the root cause of the shooting in Charleston and elsewhere.

Some how my cat knows to stay away from a bee or wasp and I know she has never been stun or bitten by one. But yet a fly no matter how big is gone and all you hear is the smacking of her lips….If I saw that guy on the streets (based on the published photo’s) I’d have my antennas up and never turn my back, if not cross to the other side of the street.

I find it ridiculous that they will blame coal electric generation for anything. To clarify, why is the air I breathe everyday so clean, but when I lived in the city, it was so dirty? Hint, it wasn’t coal fired electric generation. There is no food problems here, not likely to happen. The garden is BOOMING! The deer herd is the best it’s been in years, as far as numbers. Livestock is thriving. Do these climate change monkeys ever leave the city? It don’t appear so.

    • Speaking of livestock, the neighbors Black Angus herd is in the field bordering the back yard, and a calf was just born.

    • Dale A Albrecht says:

They have not ever traveled to the Wyoming Valley where Scranton/Wilkes Barre are. Back when people just burned coal for heat it was rated the 2nd worst polluted cities in the country…..back in the 60’s when LA was at it’s worst. LA was like # 20 and it was bad back then…..Now the Scranton are since the power companies switched to generating electricity in power plants that really scrub the emmisions and the people stopped burning coal in their home furnaces….the valley is clean….In LA back as a kid the yellow puke really killed trees and people. The tops of the mountains were the only clear areas. If you’d look down into the valleys you could not see far, because they were full of the densest smog imaginable. Summer was worst due to the wind directions….The last time I was in LA was 2000 in the middle of August. Not only did your eyes not burn, but you could not smell the smog like before. It used to hit you coming in on an airliner it was so bad. In 2000 I went to the top of the San Gabriels and looked down into LA and you could see the Civic Center….the environment is so much cleaner.

Is this another example of a Liberal Progressive LYING ? Is this not becoming something (lying) much a part of what comes from the mouths and pens of liberals that nothing can be taken without questioning it’s validity?

    • Just A Citizen says:

      Gman

Who do you think lied in this situation? The prosecutor never said the autopsy was definitive only that based on it she filed charges.

I saw the interview last night. The good Doctor on the panel pointed out that there is something OFF about this autopsy. It dives into areas it has no business. Such as the speculation about when or how things happen. The autopsy is supposed to deal with biological and medical FACTS. And as he pointed out, there is no discussion of medical conditions from the time Gray was admitted to the Hospital. There should be detailed reports of his FACTUAL condition by the doctors and surgeons that treated him.

As the Doctor said, don’t jump to any conclusions based on the Autopsy or anything that has been presented so far.

      • gmanfortruth says:

While the article and interview shows speculation, I’m using recent historical evidence that would coincide with ewhat many of us probably thought. Add “don’t release the document to the public” that the prosecutor is fighting so hard for and we have a classic example of a liberal progressive who is likely lying, both in the charges and to the public.

Justice for the “black victim” has been blind to true justice in the minds of the Left. Trayvon, Brown, etc. But at least the Left has a white racist to prey upon. Keeps them from talking about Gruber and all the other lies being spewed.

        • Dale A Albrecht says:

Keep the audience watching the left hand, while the “magic” trick is done with the right….I agree that autopsy reports and photos should not be released to the public. Like why in god’s name would the court allow a newspaper to sue for the release of Dale Earnharts autopsy after his fatal crash…that’s just plain morbid.

        • G!

One problem on not releasing public information before trial. What happened to the right to a speedy trial? It’s now a standard tactic by the government to delay trials. The accused are forced to come up with enormous sums of money for bail, legal and living expenses all while being rendered unable to work. Only the already rich can afford to fight the government. And during this time, the same government officials can trash the character of the accused.

If you are a defendant, you want to be able to force the government to trial in a court instead of in the media…..

          • gmanfortruth says:

If I’m a defendant and I’m innocent, I damn sure want this stuff released. The last thing an innocent person wants is a trial. Get the info out and put pressure on the lying government. Its a great way to get a better attorney or raise money for one.

      • But the autopsy does confirm the supposed “witness” statements that it was self inflicted. To me. one thing is clear. She has no grounds for charging all six officers. It was either during arrest or during transport.

I know that I am way behind on men’s fashions….With the exception of business attire (before) retiring and my military service, I have generally worn the same style of clothes for 47 years…shorts, t-shirt of a “columbia” style shirt and sandals…..but what is with the “white” boys wearing the knit hats pulled way down just above the brow and 1/2 over the ears in the middle of summer? Is it an off-shoot of one of the minorities fashion statements of a nylon stocking?

  41. Texas, this morning says…..there were 6 flags that flew over Texas…..one of the six flags was the confederacy….live with it and don’t even think about touching it. In addition, we are not removing any confederate statues nor moving any confederate cemeteries. It was part of our heritage and if you do not like it……please move to another state where you do not feel offended.

    • I’m so happy that somebody in America still has some stones.
However, our rulers (corporate America) have determined that the subjects should not have a ‘Stars And Bars’ flag. They are not gonna be happy with Texas….

      • I think that I will go by the local Walmart Supercenter and see if the flags are off the shelves. I am willing to bet they are not and will take a picture.

        • Just did an internet search. Can’t find a flag anywhere. I get either a dead link or they say they are sold out.

I’m just wandering what is going on that ‘they’ don’t want us to see and are using this as a distraction. I am thinking they were voting on the TPP again today.

    • Dale A Albrecht says:

We have a large portion of the “old” city cemetery, here in New Bern, devoted to the Confederate war dead. The Union cemetery is way out on the city’s edge in what used to be a swamp. It floods during heavy storms.

  42. The Texas Senate Hispanic Caucus weighed in on the flag controversy. The Mexican Flag once flew over Texas…we like it where it is even though Texas won its independence from Mexico.

    • CNN’s Chris Cuomo zeroed in on five state flags that have supposed “strong Confederate references” on Monday’s New Day. Cuomo cited unnamed experts on flags and symbols who claim that the state flags of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, and Tennessee – along with that of Mississippi and Georgia (which incorporate two different Confederate flags) – have such “references.” He later wondered, “Do all of these flags have to go? Does each deserve separate consideration? Is there a ‘too far’ involved with something like this?” – See more at: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/matthew-balan/2015/06/23/cnn-hypes-state-flags-strong-confederate-references#sthash.bb9kKPHG.dpuf

I think this shows, once you give in to them, they just keep taking. Debating with a friend yesterday who did not like our former Gov. Huckabee’s answer. I did and still see it as a state’s rights issue. If you think it’s racist, move to another state or run for office with the stated goal of removing that flag….

      • gmanfortruth says:

Next up, Old Glory. They already say it stands for oppression. I’ve never thought of the Rebel flag as racist. Thought it was just a Southern thing and more about the Civil War than slaves. Today’s history teachings are more about agenda than reality.

As I posted last night, ever single icon of American history is now at risk.

Imagine traveling to The District of Columbia to visit all those monuments, which will no longer exist. Only the righteous who opposed slavery and lobbied to undo the USA and return to Europe will be seen in the Capitol. No Washington, Jefferson, Madison, etc, etc.. How can Lincoln be tolerated when he openly stated he did not give a damn about slavery, only protecting the Union?

Custer did not exist and Mt. Rushmore will have to be destroyed. Maybe they will finally get the Crazy Horse monument done so the tourists will have someplace to go.

It is not a conspiracy “theory” when Daily Kos posted an article last night calling for the “re-evaluation” of all American icons, as in flags, monuments, statues, etc., etc..

I wonder if they will ban the Constitution because it allowed Slavery to go unchecked for 20 years?

            • It is not a conspiracy “theory” when Daily Kos posted an article last night.

That is laughable. So the Daily Kos isn’t Conspiracy Theory in your mind. The whole phucking Left Wing is CT for God’s sake.

Was there a proposal to what we are to replace them with? Even France kept their symbols of royalty because even though the leaders were despots the PEOPLE built them and are a source of everlasting pride. I’m not Catholic but stood in awe of the Vatican. Or the Sistine Chapel as examples…alway thinking of inspite of the obvious suffering of poor living conditions of the masses….they still produced the most lasting and beautiful things that exist in this world. Including music. Have you noticed that the more socialized the world has become the the building are more sterile and lifeless?

  43. Just A Citizen says:

There are two ways to end a Civil War.

One is to reconcile. Allow some degree of honor for the losers and then bring them back into the Institutions of the Nation. This usually results in some “modification” over time of the cultural memory of the war. Gradually moving away from the root causes and towards family members, heritage, a pride in being different even if “we lost”.

The second is to kill off the leaders of the rebellion, subjugate the people, denigrate and otherwise rub the victory in the face of the vanquished. Destroy everything you can relating to the rebels civilization and/or cultural values. If the conquered begin to exhibit pride or even express acceptance of their past then attack again. Destroy, destroy, destroy.

One of these methods results in a reconciliation with the two sides living peacefully together but recognizing certain differences in their history and culture. Even if it is “modified” it acts to bind the larger people while not trying to destroy the ego which is attached to the past. Something all humans seem to seek by the way. A linkage to the past seems to provide some sort of happiness and resiliency in the present.

The other creates animosity that will, or could, erupt into rebellion again in the future. Or at least violence perpetrated by lone wolves, striking out in anger about the oppression they see against their fellow citizens. Trying to destroy those who wish to destroy all memories of where they come from and who they are.

Both mindsets existed in 1864 just as they do today. Despite much incompetence and some deliberate acts against the notion, the leadership of both sides and especially the victors, recognized the need to pursue reconciliation. If the WAR was about Saving the Union, then action must be such that reconstructs a Union.

If the modern Progressives had been in charge of the North back then we would have probably fought another Civil War by now. There would have been a long history of terrorist acts against the OCCUPYING force which was stationed in the southern States. We would look much like the Middle East.

  44. No opinion on Tom Brady. I do think he was tried by the media and as a result, will forever be thought guilty. John Lott has presented some info of which I was unaware. • Just A Citizen says:

That is easy to address. The other teams had their balls checked the same way and did not lose the air pressure that New England seemed to lose.

There is more to this and that is evident when the Patriot’s owner met with the Commissioner and suddenly reversed his decision to challenge the league.

      • gmanfortruth says:

Yes, there is much more to this than is being “regularly” reported.

      • Dale A Albrecht says:

1st off….they crushed the Colts after the ball pressure was brought into spec..
2nd ly….the NFL officials touch each ball, wipe it, rub it and place it each and every down. They are equally culpable for “negligence” for failure to uphold their part of the game.

        • The deflate issue is TWO years old!. This was forthcoming a long time ago. Rumors about this started two years ago.

          • Dale A Albrecht says:

Bottom line…it is not exclusive to the Patriots….they get the scrutiny because they win….like what team does not film their opponents and gather all the “Intelligence” they can. Sports is nothing more than symbolic war where the fans can sit in the stands and watch instead of having incoming bombs or artillery landing on their heads.

            • Modern Day Gladiators…..only thing missing is a television spot saying ” those of us about to die…salute you”……

but it really does not matter much anymore….they have turned the game into power puff football…..

At least in ice hockey, you can still hit.

  45. Judicial Watch reports it has obtained FBI documents that show family members of top White House adviser Valerie Jarrett were “hardcore Communists” investigated by the government.

According to the report, Jarrett’s father, pathologist and geneticist Dr. James Bowman, had a lengthy FBI file showing extensive ties to Communist organizations and individuals. One of those was the Communist-sympathizing group Association of Internes and Medical Students.

Jarrett’s maternal grandfather, Robert Rochon Taylor, had a business relationship with paid Soviet agent named Alfred Stern, according to Judicial Watch. Stern also had a contact with Bowman.

Jarrett’s father-in-law, Vernon Jarrett, also has an FBI file, the group reports.

“For a period of time Vernon Jarrett appeared on the FBI’s Security Index and was considered a potential Communist saboteur who was to be arrested in the event of a conflict with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR),” according to Judicial Watch.

His FBI file reveals that he was assigned to write propaganda for a Communist Party front group in Chicago that would ‘disseminate the Communist Party line among … the middle class.'”

Jarrett, who has been called President Barack Obama’s closest adviser, still has connections to many communist and extremist groups, including the Muslim Brotherhood, according to Judicial Watch.

  46. Interesting “bruhaha” erupting here……Hard left and right is lining up to have the name of military bases changed….Fort Hood is the first target and it ain’t gonna happen. John Bell Hood, for whom Fort Hood, Tex., is named, led a hard-fighting brigade known for ferocious straight-on assaults. During these attacks, Hood lost the use of an arm at Gettysburg and a leg at Chickamauga, but he delivered victories. The Pentagon weighed in today saying that the Army posts named after Confederate Generals are not going to be changed. North or South, they were still soldiers.

Army Brig. Gen. Malcolm B. Frost, chief of public affairs, said the naming of these bases “occurred in the spirit of reconciliation, not division.”

He also said that “Every Army installation is named for a soldier who holds a place in our military history. Accordingly, these historic names represent individuals, not causes or ideologies.”

There are 10 U.S. military bases that are named after Confederate figures:

    Fort Lee
    Fort Hood
    Fort Benning
    Fort Gordon
    Fort Bragg
    Fort Polk
    Fort Pickett
    Fort A.P. Hill
    Fort Rucker
    Camp Beuregard

Also, stated by several Texas Legislators…..confederate statuary and grave sites will remain unchanged. If confederate statuary comes down, so does Martin Luther King, Frederick Douglas, Ceasar Chavez and others.

    • I will take a quick look at the available airports for me….just a sec

      • Looking at Charlotte Monroe Executive Airport…know where that is?

      • Dale A Albrecht says:

As an Army guy you just might take a swipe at MCAS at Cherry Point or AFB Seymour Johnson on your way by….can’t have an inter service incident.

    • Dale A Albrecht says:

Stuffed with Crab…outstanding…..I’d come to Charlotte….no sense in coming further east. I can’t handle the deliver charges UPS is cheaper.

      • Where are you located?

        • Dale A Albrecht says:

New Bern….I’ll come west to Charlotte. Good excuse for a road trip….besides you’ll be tired after playing all day……That is unless you really want to see land that is flatter than Texas anywhere but the hill country. The high point are the road beds so they will not flood as readily. If the roads go under everything almost to Raleigh will be under water.

          • Dale A Albrecht says:

Besides, just east of Charlotte is the Uwharrie. I can do some panning for gold.

          • We are coming out earlier to spend some time….New Bern is just a hop from Charlotte…can land at Coastal Carolina or Oak Grove….anything to see there?

            • Dale A Albrecht says:

Are these satellite military sites that allow retires landing rights free of charge?….Exactly where are these two fields. What are you interested in? New bern is the old colonial capital of NC. Much of downtown is restored like Williamsburg….but the city is so small, if you multiplied it by 4 we might fit into the Cowboys new stadium with seats left over. Picture Boliver Peninsula….that’s the coast here. Flat with a capital F.

              • yep…free of charge….but Charlotte is ok…..I am sure there is something to do there….besides, I will probably have a plane full of wine……so there is incentive,,,,,

              • And since I do not drink…it will arrive in tact.

              • Dale A Albrecht says:

That is while you’re flying….you have said you like some whites…This is almost like the fly-boys used to come around and say what their flight schedule is, as long as it was not a classified flight…is there anything you want us to pick up? More stuff got flown by the US Military that we just could not get locally.

              • Dale A Albrecht says:

Naw…just some samples if they are obtainable before the new releases…..what city are you near?…you do realize that the western end of NC is almost 1/2 way to Texas.

This is a response from this vineyard about the wines they sell outside of their estate or through wine club members. As a club member they only send 3 different wines each quarter. It’ll take two years to get through their available wines at the vineyard itself.

It just may be worth a birthday trip and take a drive on the Texas wine trail in the fall.

We have 3 wines available in distribution- Our GSM, Texas Tempranillo and Texas
Viognier. Goody Goody, Specs, Whole Foods and Twin Liquors carry our wine.

My email is dale_albrecht@suddenlink.net so we can take this off the blog….that way I can send photo’s.

              • You got it,…I am in Fort Worth,,,,,and we have goody goody and Specs and whole foods…I will get with you later on your email….got a couple of things to do…talk at ya tomorrow.

              • Dale A Albrecht says:

Have to finish “Red River” Catch you later.

  52. I will put up a new thread in the morning. You folks are great 🙂

headline….Confederate monuments are being vandalized…..I think this country today is more divided and hatred spewed now, than even during the strife of the 60’s and early 70’s.
Could it be the repeat of Ft Sumter in Charleston Harbor all over again? I hope not, My awful thought, though is that this time humpty dumpty will not be put back together again nor will it want to be….there is NO group of peoples that have no immigrated to the continent including the indians, or forced inservitude. But I only have to look at those that continue to really have trouble getting on track are those peoples that the “government” has basically made wards/slaves of. Ergo incapablable of handling your own issues. I’m talking the Indian reservations who are allegedly sovereign nations (hah). It is so easy to blame others for your problems…so make something of yourselves individually as opposed to taking the daily special…..Maybe one will get more respect….how many more generations will it take…been close to three since ’64

    • Dale A Albrecht says:

The government has enforced the lower class status on the native americans. They are enabling the same for the blacks. Look at how that has turned out. That is what is in store for the rest of us if things keep going the way they are.

57% if the country think Mrs. Clinton is NOT HONEST AND IS NOT TRUSTWORTHY!

    YET

47% if the likely votes intent to vote for Hillary NO MATTER WHAT. She is currently beating EVERY Republican when polled one on one.

If the country is divided as it looks the last two POTUS cycles, Mrs. Clinton only needs to pick up a couple of those “purple” states to win. Because those 47% give her a near lock on the Electoral College.

Sorry to ruin yer evenings, but this just baffles me. That 47% would vote for her no matter what, while finding her untrustworthy!

It might reveal why her and the DNC work so hard to damage the “trust level” of the Republicans. They know that if the public finds a likable and trustworthy opponent that does not scare them, Hillary would lose. So they must do everything they can to destroy the perceived integrity of the R’s who run.

We are about to experience a Texas summer in late June. Temps climbing to about 108 here on Sunday and then hanging at 100 for the next two to three weeks.

These temps are about 25 degrees above the averages for late June. And we have had little moisture. In fact the weather pattern is setting up just like that of 1910. For those who don’t know what that could mean, google up 1910 fires.

Sad part is this will kill the summer fishing because we had such poor snowpack.

    • JAC, you are in Idaho? I thought that area was under huge snows……

      • Just A Citizen says:

        d13

Not this last winter. There were places near average and others around 40%. But it stopped snowing in early January and then turned warm.

Rivers all peaked before mid June. Often the high water is late June to mid July.
