A special counsel has been put on the job to investigate all the allegations against Trump. Maybe this is just what the doctor ordered and it will finally silence the Democrats and their lapdog media. This is the credibility check the Democrats and fellow Liberals have needed for a long time and when it’s over, I’ll go on record that the Left will have no credibility after the collusion nonsense is put to rest. Me, personally, I happen to believe that Trump and his staff weren’t communicating and Trump went off-script in an interview. As far as the democrats’ “lie” is concerned, I happen to believe that they were still trying to sort out the intel, gave what theories they had at the time, and clarified once they knew more. I attribute both to disorganization and incomplete information.
The only other factor is that it took Obama’s team longer to straighten out the story.. and that’s fair in my mind because it was just that much harder to get all the facts cleared up. Whereas Team Trump could have, you know, just asked the boss.

It seems clear to me that Russia was involved with manipulating the election. Whether and how much Trump or his staff were complicit, I cannot say. Thus, I support efforts to investigate.

Benghazi was a multi-year political witch hunt whose primary goal was not truth, but to harm her political prospects ahead of the 2016 election. As Mr. Colonel stated, the Benghazi investigation was over in 24 hrs. Everything after that was milking it for political ends. You think it’s a coincidence that it wrapped up and published the results in the height of her campaign for President?
To that end, the Trump/Russia investigation should proceed in a non-partisan fashion as quickly as reasonably practicable. It should release it’s results when they are ready, without spin. And we should arrest those who need arresting. Shoot those who need shooting. And then everyone else should move on with their lives.

I concur with most but not your accusations against the Benghazi investigation. The House Committee would have been able to conclude its findings much earlier if not for stonewalling by the Administration, as well as political games played by the Democrats on the committee. Mr. Cummings be a prime culprit.
In fact, the FINAL report was not issued until December, following the election. The final was delayed, the draft released during the election season last summer, because the Administration would not de-classify some information the Committee felt essential to public understanding of their findings. By withholding this “evidence” the Democrats could feign “bias” in the Committee’s final report. Because those documents supported the conclusions.
This was not just a witch hunt. It was a relevant and justified investigation into a catastrophe and what appeared to be a political motivation for obfuscating the facts to the public immediately afterwards.
And for the record, I would have supported a similar effort regardless of who was in the big chair.

As to one other point you alluded to. That being the why of the Democrats howling about Russians. I do not think it is because of their refusal to admit defeat. I think it is because of the very nature of those who now control the Party. RAGE is part of their nature and they believe that fomenting RAGE will help them regain seats in Congress and maybe POTUS. So far it appears to be working as the fundraising on the RAGE is bringing in tons of money.
And before you pull one of those “yeah but the other guy” routines, let me point out that Trump also ran on the RAGE agenda. Although he also provided some HOPE along with it. So far there has been little hope coming from Dem. leadership other than “Impeach Trump”.

But you are correct. Rage is a powerful tool. It worked very successfully for the conservatives under Obama. There is no reason to suppose that it will not serve liberals well under Trump.
As a political tool, sowing discontent due to a belief (justified or otherwise) that the election was “stolen” from the rightful winner is a good way to generate enough outrage to bring in dollars and votes.

This is the premise of the DNC and Clinton people. Yet the term “manipulating” infers some definitive outcome. X was manipulated by Y into doing ABC.
There is a lot of evidence, provided by the Govt. agencies and one private firm, that the Russians INSERTED themselves in the election by taking and releasing emails about the DNC and how they colluded to get Clinton the nomination over Sanders. Of collusion between certain media consultants and the Clinton campaign.
It is ASSUMED, again because govt. agencies tell us, that Guccifer 2 was a Russian in disquise. That Russia was funneling the info to Wikileaks. Assange claims he got the info from someone in the USA, not any Russians.
During this time the Russians supposedly did all kinds of other cyber attacks and hacks, along with the Chinese, if you remember. Apparently, the Russians hacked Mr. Obama’s campaign back when he first ran, or maybe it was his second race.
Now I ask you to remember what the agency people said when first asked why they thought the Russians did this. Their response was that the primary reason is to undermine American confidence in our election process. The idea they wanted Trump to win came later and was a secondary point. So as of today, WHO is doing the most damage to the American pubic’s confidence in the election system? The Russians or the US media and Democratic Party???
Also remember that the Russians tried to hack the RNC as well. And that the FBI’s first warning after the DNC hack was that the Russians had the DNC’s “opposition research on Trump”. This has never been proven as true, nor have many of the claims.
I am just pointing out that to claim they manipulated or interfered with perpetuates this narrative that the Russians actually impacted the outcome. All the time the Dems were claiming the email releases had little impact and the real damage was done by Comey. Now they claim the Russians “hacked the election”.
At this point I must also remind everyone that there were in fact hacks of certain State elector data bases. It was discovered that this was done by the NSA, which Clapper denied and then had to apologize for causing panic in the State(s) involved.
I do love hypotheticals.
Let us suppose that it is proven, in a court of law, beyond any reasonable doubt, that Mr. Trump knowingly and deliberately conspired with Putin to manipulate the election. Let us suppose that Trump gave a heartfelt confession on live TV before turning himself in to the authorities and subsequently pleaded guilty. There can be no doubt.
There is no evidence to suggest either Pence or his staff were aware or complicit any any way.

Under ordinary circumstances, Pence should become the new President. HOWEVER, as he was the direct beneficiary of a criminal activity, I would suggest that a special election is in order.
Now, this is not what the Constitution says. But let’s suppose did have the authority to make such a decision.. to do “the right thing.”

One other thing missing. Your hypothetical would have to imagine that Trump colluding with the Russians would actually be illegal. Thus involving a court of law and an admission of guilt.
The key principle at play here is two fold. Pence is innocent and should not be punished. And the election of the vice president is a separate ballot race than POTUS. The Veep job is elected separately from POTUS. If there were no majority, in the Electoral College, the Senate would elect the Vice President.
If Trump resigns, and Pence is promoted he will nominate a Veep replacement which will have to be confirmed by the Senate. Can you imagine how that will go in this day and age of politics???

WaPo then stated they had a transcript. Ryan said the transcript was fake or altered or otherwise incorrect.
WaPo then disclosed that they had a recording. Ryan then stated that he had made an inappropriate joke.

Now, were they being sincere or just cracking jokes? I can’t say. I am inclined to believe they were joking, but had a kernel of truth in it. And, as far as I can find, WaPo hasn’t released the recording – though Ryan’s claim that it was a joke cements its veracity.
What I can say is that Ryan was caught dead in a lie denying the conversation. And nothing is going to come of it. I suppose it is easy to forget a one-off joke from a year ago, though. I certainly don’t remember every word that has ever come out of my mouth. So… take it for what it’s worth.

The other interesting thing is the probable reason for Ryan trying to distance himself at the time. He was trying to make nice with Trump after declaring him perona non grata when he got the nomination.
I met a minor actor a few years back – can’t remember his name – he had played a character called, of all things, Donkeylips on a minor afterschool show called Salute Your Shorts. In fact, I had watched the show on occasion as a kid and enjoyed it. I didn’t particularly care for his character – he was just an oaf who was always in the way, but whatever.
As it turned out, I had met him at a poker table and, apropos of nothing, he had informed me of his childhood role within moments of my sitting down. He then followed it up by trying to engage me in trivia about the show and his character – how many seasons (only one, by the way), his character’s real name (nobody cares), etc. He would splash the pot constantly and each time say something like “I’m such a donkey” – a clear reference to his role as Donkeylips. It was insufferable.
Mr. Trump reminds me a lot of Donkeylips. A man so insecure that he has to perpetually puff himself up by constantly reminding everyone around him of his Great Achievement.
Just as, I’m sure, to this day, Donkeylips tells everyone he meets about his 15 seconds of minor fame, Donald Trump can’t even talk about the importance of the FBI without shoehorning in the successfulness of his campaign.
I doubt he can place a lunch order without bringing it up.
I bet it’s why Melania insists on living in New York – he probably brings it up during, err, the horizontal mambo.
very interesting interview with law professor Alan Dershowitz today: Supposedly a very respected expert on the Constitution. The subject matter is Russian collusion.
He says: Even if Trump talked directly to Putin and said, I want to be PResident, can you help me. This is not collusion and is not illegal. He further stated that if Trump asked Putin to release ONLY the wikileaks stuff on Clinton….it is not illegal.
He went on to say, there is nothing in the law or the Constitution that prohibits talking to any head of state asking for help to get elected.

We now have a headline on almost all internet news sites claiming that the Russian investigation has now “turned into a criminal investigation”.
If I had not heard a Senator who attended the closed door meeting with the Asst. AG today I would not have dived into this already. But the headline doesn’t match with what the Senator said happened. And he was reluctant to say it was a criminal investigation, stating only that it could turn that direction and the Deputy AG would not discuss things that “might become part of an investigation by Mr. Mueller.
So where did this headline come from? Another FAKE news story? It looks like it was Lyndsey Graham that caused this. By stating that it was “his view” that this was “inferred” somehow. I remind everyone of my constant bashing of Republicans being able to undermine their own party. Deep within the story I read on this, at The National Memo, was this:
“Graham acknowledged that Rosenstein did not explicitly confirm that the department was now looking into possible ties between Russia and the Trump campaign as a criminal matter. ”
So he dropped the innuendo, acknowledged there was no explicit confirmation, then allows the Press to run the FAKE headline without challenging it. Instead doubling down in other interviews.

Last night on NPR, Madeline Albright, not one of my favorites, stated emphatically that WE ALL should wish Mr. Trump good will and success on his international tour. Because his success is not only good for him but essential to the well being of the United States.
It was very refreshing to see some adults discuss Mr. Trump’s foreign policy efforts. Of course Judy Woodruf kept trying to drag the discussion back to “Russians are coming” but the two diplomats wouldn’t bite.
Thought for the morning coffee break.
The most damaging, and disconcerting, thing about the Russian efforts during the election was NOT the hacking of the DNC nor the release of emails.
It was the broad effort to create fake news stories and drive opinion on the internet via use of trolls and expansion of said fake news. This effort led many somewhat credible outlets to carry this fake news, thus adversely affecting their credibility.
Now think back to the many stories about Mr. Obama when SUFA first got going, where I offered evidence they were FAKE. We speculated then as to who was doing this. I assumed political operatives within the US trying to make “right wing” sites and pundits look stupid. What if it was the Russian even back then???
Remember, the goal is not to insert any particular person or party. It is to harm our confidence in the system. To impair the legitimacy of the Govt. and our other institutions on which we depend for governance. This includes the Press. Although the press is certainly doing a good job of destroying its own credibility.

Too much of the popular press (yes – including Fox) are entertainment outlets. You can hate Taibbi but he occasionally makes some salient points worth noting.
Let’s first look at the evidence available. The DNC server was NOT investigated by the government, but by a private company who are walking back previous statements about being hacked. That’s because most people thought it was an inside job and the leaker, Seth Rich was murdered. There is clear evidence Rich was in contact with Wikileaks. The hacking story is falling apart fast.
Next, Podesta’s email were taken by a phisher, not a true hacker. Technically, they weren’t even stolen since the password was provided by staff. Phishing is NOT hacking, that is already a false narrative. It is also strike two and they have only swung twice.
There is NO evidence, almost a year into the Russia collusion swing. There isn’t likely to ever be any evidence, it’s all bullshit. That is strike three as soon as the umpire calls it.
I’m also not buying the fake news by the Russian’s nonsense. Anybody can put out fake stories these days and there was plenty during the election……including big ones by the MSM.
I think Russian influence is a Liberal pipe dream and just another excuse for losing, just like the last few losses, as I have posted.

What if the whole leaking email stuff during the election is actually due to “all of the above” instead of the binary choice of The Russians vs. Insider Leaks.
What if the Russians did hack the DNC, but the leaks were given to Wikileaks by an insider. The Russians, aka Guccifer got to Podesta, but Wiki got the inside information. Remember, the RNC said it’s computers were not accessed, even though the Russians tried.
It is very possible that both things actually happened. Which would explain why there seemed to be two sources predicting future “bombshells”, only some of which actually involved Clinton.
Just going to add – it is child’s play to gain access to any of those systems. If someone truly wanted access/data they’d have it. All the best/expensive technology in the world will not keep out even moderately talented computer criminals.

The goal of the establishment is to get Mr. Trump under oath before either FBI investigators or a Grand Jury. Then ask him a series of questions involving his judgment.
He will not be able to keep himself from lying about something. He will have to undermine some previous public statement, one way or the other. He either gets indicted for lying under oath or ridiculed for lying about something else. Like how he and Putin got along so well when he was trying to do business in Russia.
While some hold out hope Mr. Trump will be absolved of the “Russian connection” garbage, I suspect this will not end well for him. The only question remaining is how fast they want Mr. Trump gone. Will they allow this to stretch 3 years until the next election? Or will they prefer having Mr. Pence sit in the big chair.

But he was not convicted because “obstruction of justice” and “lying to a Grand Jury” was not deemed a “high crime or misdemeanor” to the Democrats on the Senate. Some of which are screaming for Trump’s impeachment today. For “obstruction of justice”, because he asked Comey if he could see fit to lay off Flynn now that he had been forced out.
Many also seem to forget that Bill and I think Hillary both lost their license to practice law as a result of their respective investigations back then.

I heard a statement today that I think fits the situation perfectly. Washington does notsuffer from Trump….it suffers from “incumbent disease”. It is PARTLY due to Trump and his personality. His policies, many of them, are closer to the left than the right, so they can’t find him the devil incarnate for that. It is his “uncouth” behavior and atrocious way of speaking. And then there is the bragging and lying, which I consider simply Grand Bragging.

While I do think that the Special Counsel will not find anything to prosecute except maybe Flynn, I do not have any confidence that the Repubs will have the brains to exploit the situation. I think it is absolutely unfair that states like TX & ID are allowed to poach businesses from CA by using favorable tax codes and regulations. There should be a federal law outlawing such predatory practices. We have both trout and beef plus all the lettuce you could want. Sunshine, surf, forests and snow too. You make the usual Texican mistake. You see Idaho has ALWAYS been this way. We did not have to decide to change.
What has changed in the move of different type companies to the State, creating more diversity. For those that do not know, the “Magic Valley” is a very long and wide valley which has the Snake River running along it. It included the cities of Twin Falls and the Boise/Nampa/Caldwell metro area.
And it seems companies do not mind the corp tax rate and citizens do not mind the multi layered income tax. At least not until recently. Because the Republicans have started taxing all kinds of other stuff, raising the total tax burden. Which shows you that the income tax is not a killer in itself. It is the “effective rates” that matter.
Will have to look at Total Tax of Idaho vs. other States.
And let me remind you that Idaho did not fall for that “come join the Union” crapolla you Texicans fell for………TWICE. We held out for as long as we could.
The irony of the Idaho business success is that in the 70’s it was still known as the most beautiful State in the Union where you could starve to death while being fully employed.

Now to be fair and balanced. I have some serious questions about how they calculated the “percentage of personal income” for each category.
Notice Montana’s property taxes are closer to Texas than to Idaho. Despite the massive increase in real estate values here. You see, in many towns when the values increase they decrease the mill levy to allow only a small growth in tax revenue. Plus you get the first 60% of your personal home value deducted from the appraised value, with an upper limit on the deduction. Idaho also gives a 50K income deduction for Federal Employees on full retirement.
And, we do not tax the money paid to the Federal Income tax. It is a deduction just like State taxes are on the itemized Federal Return.
Yes sir…….we do have a high property tax rate….and we do not necessarily like it…as I pay school taxes without children in school. We also have a fairly high sales tax….but the belief here, is that everyone has skin in the game. No one is exempt and that is down to the lowest income earner….we do not like free rides, even though there are still some available but not state money. Everyone should have skin in the game…..but we do not like progressive taxation at all and believe that just because you make more does not mean you need to pay more.
We have high fees for several things but they are user fees. If you do not want it, do not buy it. If you want to go to a camp ground, you will pay a fee. We prefer to be a pay as you go state, consequently, some fees are higher than adjoining states BUT, it is a choice. You can either do what you want and pay the fee or not.
I will, however, grant you that the best trout fishing I ever did was a float trip on the South Snake ( never been north for the steelhead ) using dry fly for Brown Trout. THAT was fun. My late dad loved fly fishing. Being a bass fisherman myself, I did not do any fly fishing until I came back from Vietnam in the 70’s and we floated the Snake, Idaho, and the Green in Wyoming. Then I got hooked ( pardon the expression ) on dry fly and learned it pretty well….my largest Brown was about 20 inches and around five pounds…it took me the better part of an hour to land him as we were only on 3 pound test, if I remember correctly. I love to catch and release crappie on a three pound test….I like the fight. The problem here, though, is our rivers have what is called alligator gar. Someone had the bright idea that alligator gar is a great combat to Asian Carp. Well, they are but they are also prolific and go after everything. We do not see many of them in the lakes but the rivers have them….very aggressive and will attack a fish caught on a line before you can get them in. Very sharp teeth…..if you fish the rivers here, consider wire leaders.
Anyway, hang in there JAC. States like Idaho and Texas may lead the way. One thing…..be thankful you are not a border state…..however, you do deal with the West Coast….probably not much difference. I have warned T Ray once again……but, alas, he may already be infected with the California Zombie madness.
Now, make no mistake, Texas fell for the “join the union” crappola BUT did manage to do it with some preservation issues and we do not deal with the BLM very much, even though they try. You always have stories about Texas, so I have no idea why this particular story triggered my memory enough to have me typing this right now, and it doesn’t even have anything to do with anything but my own personal memories, but here goes…
I was visiting my sister in Houston in 1981 when Reagan was shot. Her (ex) husband was a cop there, so by nature he was a suspicious type and overhyped the shooting…worried that all hell would break out in the US over that event. He cut short our fun, he was so worried about our safety, and since he was working most of the time I was there, he couldn’t physically protect us. Whatever!. We did manage to get a day in playing around in the Gulf at Galveston, and I was able to see my first musical, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. I had a ticket to go on to Florida from Houston, to visit my grandma. The night before I left, we got a call from home saying my mom was in a terrible car accident. All I wanted to do was go home, but nobody would let me… I had to go comfort Grandma, since she was alone in Florida. I was heartbroken, but I took one for the team. It really sucked because Grandma spent her time being a soldier for me, so I wouldn’t be worried, plus I missed all the fun of my family’s shinanigans in the hospital with my mom, who had a baseball seam stitch wound on her scalp. My family dressed her in a clown wig and red nose as a disguise for the baseball seam. I just got to see the pics. Drat! Mom was a trooper though. Bigger bummer was it was a court baliff that hit her on the highway, on his 4th drunk driving offense, whose buddies got him a very light sentence, probation if I recall. So the whole trip kind of sucked. The End.
Sorry about your experience……and, yes, I have a lot of stories about my state. Very proud of it. I have to live up to the Texas Bragadocio…I would not be a good Texan otherwise.

You do have a coastline and we do not. Lots of rivers and lakes but no ocean.
Yes, it is interesting looking at taxes by state. We are bordered by two States with no sales tax. Yest refuse to give ours up.
There was a good move to eliminate property tax, which is the biggest tax on businesses by the way, but then all the outsiders started driving up real estate prices and buying second and third homes. Property tax is the only way to get them to pay towards the infrastructure and schools, because they are not residents.
Then it became cheaper for many to live here. Now they commute to California and other places to work.
Idaho has a minimum flat tax of $10.00 for EVERYONE. Including those who file but show no taxes due. I also forgot, our Constitution requires a balanced budget. We also often have a “cash reserve” held for emergencies, like the last recession.
We also have user fees, on almost everything. Cars, boats, hunting and fishing, parking in a state or county parking spot, parks and recreation stickers, stickers to launch a boat (state, country and city). I spend almost two days each spring gathering up all the “user fee” stickers and permits I need for the year. These fees used to be included in our “income tax”, vehicle registration and hunting/fishing license fees.
Idaho loves to brag about it’s low taxes but in my view they are far higher than they should be. We have a heard of Republicans up here that love to spend money. Just enough of the “fiscally conservative” types to keep them in check most of the time.
You do have us one one very BIG account. Because we held out on that “union” thangy, we got stuck with a massive amount of federal land. If Congress would just fix the laws to allow some commercial uses, like they used to have, there would be no controversy. The vast majority of us like the Federal Land because it remains wide open space. But the more the Feds close it down the more the cries for turning it over to the State.

Like the Mary Jo Kopekne family, and the Vince Foster family, they want the investigation called off. Amazing people! There are families who are the basis for books and movies who have spent years and even decades trying to find out how their child died in combat. These people want to just fold the tent and go home.
SCOTUS strikes down two Congressional Districts in N. Carolina for being “racially based”. Putting that issue aside, I find the following by Justice Kagan both very interesting and disturbing.
“”The Constitution entrusts states with the job of designing congressional districts,” Justice Elena Kagan wrote for the majority. “But it also imposes an important constraint: A state may not use race as the predominant factor in drawing district lines unless it has a compelling reason.””
You see it does not “entrust”, it grants outright authority over rules for Congressional elections to the State. It was the Court that TOOK this authority away for ITSELF. Notice that Congress never gets involved in this issue. ONLY THE COURT.
There is not a distinction of the authority in the Constitution for any reason. This “constraint” comes from the Amendment requiring all privileges and immunites be the same between states.
The Court took on this authority under cover of the Civil Rights ACT, not the Constitution. AT least not literally.
Now think back to my comment on the irony of using race in gerrymandering. The two Districts that were struck down were drawn to give them a MAJORITY Black population. The lawyers claiming “racism” in this think they won by overturning these two districts. As the State AG said, they are stuck between a rock and hard place. If they do not draw lines to “assure” Blacks are represented they are racists. If they draw them to do so they are racists.
What the real problem is, is that the Republicans benefited from creating a majority Black District. This reduced the “proportion” of hard core Democratic voters in the remaining districts. If the Black population was so hard core Democratic Party line voters this issue would not really exist. Because the Democratic Party wouldn’t be helping fight these gerrymandering issues.
This is how you keep NEGATIVE things in the news while trying to look “fair” or unbiased. Note the headlines, the lead and most of the discussion is about “bowing”. Only at the end do we get the idea the anchor is viewing this as stupid. But she doesn’t say it herself. She lets her guest say it.

Along similar lines, I saw yesterday that CNN was reporting that “Trump is exhausted” by his trip. Apparently a White House staffer made this comment in response to a question about why Mr. Trump used the word Islamist instead of Islamic when referring to radical terrorists.
This garnered not only news coverage but editorials as well. Another SELF INFLICTED wound by the White House. Also evidence of the over blown negative coverage.

I actually believe their viewership has gone through the roof, that and the MSNBC crowd. There are two excellent reasons. #1The anti-Trump forces just cannot get enough “reinforcement” of their belief system and have to be reassured each and every day that the Prez is a threat to the known galaxy. # 2, they dumped O’Reilly. Blowhard or not, the guy had a major following of people who found his style to their liking. I, as a known right-wing-extremist, may have gotten annoyed when he gave a “pass” to some obvious BS but most folks, moderate right to centrist liked the fact he did not crawl down their throats to rip their hearts out (loud sigh!).
The way they fired him left a lot to be desired too.
Instead of going with “the Five” at 9, I think they should have left Tucker in place (he is an acquired taste) and hired/tried out Laura Ingram. How about having “suspended” O’Reilly till investigations were completed. Just because you have been intimidated into paying does not necessarily mean you are guilty and the two ladies who publicly came forward and said they were harassed by Bill’s comments on their attire or looks, are way too sensitive. They have to understand Bill is OLD, VERY OLD, like me, he appreciates an attractive woman and might just say so because he was raised in an era when it was a complement for a young man to tell a young lady so. You are correct. They had the same legal team that handled the Ailes situation do the investigation. Obviously something was there. But it is also true that two Sons partly brought this on by settling out of court on other cases. Daddy told them it would cause more litigation, and it did.
Fox is also now being accused of “racial” issues by one of their key reporters. Either something was wrong with their corporate culture or they have a bunch of primadonnas working there.

Roger Ailes, The Father of Fox News, passed away last week at the age of 77 which was caused by complications from a fall he suffered days before. Ailes battled from hemophelia since he was a child.
Ailes developed the network scratch and built it into the most watched cable news network featuring conservative stars like Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly.
He departed the network earlier this year after some allegations about his conduct with some of the networks female anchors and employees. None of these rumors have been substantiated or proven true in the court of law.

Third, why are people being interviewed making statements like, ” How could it happen here?” or ” I don’t understand this.” And then crying as if they lost their pet airdale. ( unless of course they did lose their pet airdale ).

They shouldn’t be “shocked.” No one should be shocked. It’s not shocking anymore that there are people like this out there.
That said, what some of the “shock” factor comes from is that, as I understand it, the concert was highly populated by minors. That is, the singer’s fan base are young teens. So, therefore, the target of this attack was (generally) children. Rather than your “standard assholes killing people,” this was closer to “extra special assholes targeting kids.” So, more on par with blowing up a school than a Simon & Garfunkel concert.

Of course, with all that said, terrorism is a rounding error in terms of risk factors. The real threats: heart disease, cancer, driving, raptor attacks, stroke, etc. They’re ignored. We’ve blotted them out of our collective consciousnesses so that we can function from day to day without thinking about the constant and impending threat of horrible death and dismemberment. Maybe it’s for the best?
But humans are terrible at evaluating risk. It’s the shiny, attention-grabbing anomalies that we fear: sharks, spiders, lightning, quick sand, and, of course, terrorism. The day-to-day real threats… well, we just shrug them off.
I am, of course, orders of magnitude more likely to die everyday on my commute to work than I am at the hands of a terrorist. But if I had to think about that threat every time I turned the key in my ignition, I’d probably never leave the house (or I’d drive an Abrams..).

Employers currently spend between $100 billion to $150 billion per year, which could be available to help offset total costs, according to the analysis. The idea behind Senate Bill 562 is to overhaul California’s insurance marketplace, reduce overall health care costs and expand coverage to everyone in the state regardless of immigration status or ability to pay. Instead of private insurers, state government would be the “single payer” for everyone’s health care through a new payroll taxing structure, similar to the way Medicare operates.
Lara and Atkins say they are driven by the belief that health care is a human right and should be guaranteed to everyone, similar to public services like safe roads and clean drinking water. Interesting perspective on health care…….I went to a civilian hospital because the VA could not do it for another 8 months……it was a day surgery with no meals and no overnight stay. Went in at 0700 and went home at 1130…..4.5 hours.
Just saw the bills…… $21,000 and change. No emergency room. This was a simple umbilical hernia operation that under the government run VA system would not have happened for 8 months. Glad I did not have to wait on the government.

I did hear one pundit a few days back say that every American president’s visit to the Pope creates the appearance of a “win” back home. I don’t agree but I found that interesting. If that is how politicians view it then are they not just using the Pope as a photo op?

Bout time! But a big thing about Trump, and what gets me about why people don’t like him… There’s no ulterior motive except to MAGA. There are no hidden intentions. That’s why nothing sticks. He’s not looking to advance his political career, and he can use exactly that AGAINST his opponents, because that is their motive.

Don’t mistake my posting this for you as me supporting all that is Mr. Trump.
Frankly, I find some of his “supposed” accomplishments a bit empty at this moment. This being the many Executive Orders which in and of themselves do little. Which is why, Mathius, I have not criticized him for the number of EO’s after criticizing Mr. Obama. The former POTUS actually was making or changing laws with his. Which is why he kept losing with SCOTUS.
Time will tell but I am betting he gets kneecapped by the establishment over most of his proposals.
My biggest complaint so far is the tendency I see for him to need to claim victory, even if he is losing. I offer up the health care debacle as my evidence. I expected him to notify Congress of his key requirements and then threaten to veto anything that didn’t comply. I did not and do not support his view of health care, but it was HIS after all. I expected to see him fight more strongly and openly to get what he wanted. Instead it looks like he simply tried to claim credit for what was handed to him by a bunch of slimy Progressive Republicans. Or should I say “simply gutless Republicans”. People who do not need a jock strap to go jogging. Gonna love that one for a long time. 🙂
So, Mr. Brennan testifies that he saw that there was “contact” between Mr. Trump’s people and Russian “officials” during the campaign. That he did not see the nature of these communication, at least not enough to determine if there was collusion or coordination but he felt and “investigation by the FBI” was warranted.
I go back to the comments by the Clinton supporting lawyer who asked, “what crime is being invetigated”??
Why would an investigation be warranted by the FBI if the CIA or NSA did not see any comments indicating a crime had occurred? And Mr. Brennan has in effect admitted no such potential crime was evidenced by the “contacts” he saw.
And anyone believing he did not see the full content of the discussion between Russians and Mr. Trump’s people should look for El Dorado.

Instead, allocate seats to the various “Registered” political parties in the State. The total number of seats for each party are based on the “VALIDATED” voter registration roles at time of the Redistricting process. Or the census year.
Oh, and eliminate counting NON CITIZENS in the allocation of Congressional seats.
Better yet….do not pay attention to the SCOTUS ruling and do it your way.
