Is this Justice? Part Three.

Man arrested for a crime that he did not yet commit.

This is a good news story as it is very likely that many lives were saved. A man was arrested in Florida for preparing to engage police in a shootout. Apparently because his drivers license was suspended. Of course The Hill uses the “wanted to start a war” lead in but you will find in their own story his war was with the police. Following is the link to their story:

Florida man arrested after planning to ‘start a war,’ deputies say

Of course the underlying question is whether arresting someone for a crime based on their supposed intent to commit such a crime is really legitimate. That is in the sense of actual justice. Per the story he was arrested while approaching police with guns and body armor. Yet he was arrested without incident, then charged with “aggravated assault.” Key point here is he DID NOT assault anyone.

Does this fall under the “Clear and Present Danger” category of justified use of force? Or are we on the slippery slope to the dystopian world depicted in the movie Minority Report?

Other Stories Related the the Justice Question:

New York has issued a report claiming that a mass shooting was caused by radicalization of someone on the internet. The report calls for clamping down and regulating the internet to prevent such crimes in the future. This requires monitoring the conversations of individuals, pretty much constantly. I don’t think it will be long before monitoring individuals conversations will lead to pre-emptive action against them. As in arresting or detaining them for a “potential” crime which has not yet been committed. Is that really all that far fetched?

Over the past couple of weeks the Federal Governments DOJ and FBI have arrested people for demonstrating against abortion clinics. For supposedly interfering in others access, by standing on a sidewalk and shouting things. These people were arrested almost a year or more after the States involved determined no crimes were committed. One involved a father pushing a counter demonstrator who had gotten in his son’s face while shouting nonsense. Again, the State determined no crime was committed. Yet the Feds have arrested him, and a preacher. That is the world we live in today. So just how far will this use of force go? How long before people are arrested for spreading disinformation about Global Warming?

  1. That is an interesting picture you have up there. That weapon is a wannabe “something”….obviously a knock off AR15 with a rifle sight (for deer hunting) and not a snipers sight mounted on a frame intended for lightweight shooting, with a folding stock, a flashlight (or laser dot), and what appears to be an m203 grenade launcher mounted underneath (probably some civilian knock off shooting a 20 mm). Not to mention a flash suppressor that will certainly blind the shooter on the first round being fired if looking though that scope. This lad took a basic weapon and ordered off market products to mount on a civilian type rail along the barrel. First of all, this “sumbitch” must weigh 1,000 pounds. If he hip fires this thing with the folded stock, he will have to pick up the pieces from 20 feet back. If he shoulder fires this thing fully extended while looking through the site, he will only do it once and then wait 2 1/2 minutes for his sight to come back. If he fires this thing at night looking through the sight, he will not regain his normal eyesight until the next morning.

In short…an idiot. But, it is a lethal looking thing and will do damage.

  2. Now, on to the article. With the way things are going today, it would not surprise me at all if people start getting arresting for….welll, saying anything. SK, in the last thread, made a comment to Charlie that he could ask me everything about SOG and the Special Forces but then I would have to kill him afterwards. Is this a threat? Would he be subject to arrest? I cannot count the number of times I have told people….”Well, I could tell you but then I would have to kill you”……all said in jest but……is it?

Are we now going to have thought police? How many times have I heard people say that they have a number of weapons and you never know when we may have to take our country back! Is this a threat? Is this possible insurrection talk? Do you take their guns or arrest them for assumed assault that has not occurred as yet?

How many times have you heard….somebody needs to shoot the bastard…..is this a crime?

Is having thoughts a crime? I know that if you even joke about shooting the POTUS, even though no act has been committed, it is considered a crime.

    This is a tough question.

    • I’m dead a couple dozens times from the street, Colonel. Insurrection talk only becomes a crime when there’s an actual insurrection (see January 6, 2021) … other than that it’s keyboard warrior (or telephone or text) bullshit and who cares?

      • Exactly, who cares. However, when Sir Mathius is ever found, he has an insight to this…. as to DPM…..he has no insight to this because he just shoots on sight, if his cutlass is not handy.

  3. Boy if they come after AGW skeptics, I am in big trouble. Now reading “Global Warming: The Great Deception” by Guy K Mitchell, Jr. Good book, heavy on the physics. He approaches the topic from thermodynamics and physics including spectroscopy. Remember from geometry, any theorem is proven false with just one counter example. AGW is/has been proven false by many counter examples but that does not sink in with the AGW crowd. There is no existential threat and CO2 is not the bad guy they make it out to be.

  4. As in arresting or detaining them for a “potential” crime which has not yet been committed. Is that really all that far fetched? Not far fetched at all….How far does this go…like interpreting political statements as a threat. Perhaps the threats made by politicians….could those be interpreted as “future” problems.

Or the Tweets and things hoping for death from disease or befalling accidents that kill you….are these, in nature, now going to be threats or potential threats from the users that post them? If so, you better lock up the progressives in mass and the Trump supporters that say the same things…..

Wow, that was painful to watch. A good lesson in how to use snark and sarcasm to affect opinions, even if that is in opposition to the story your are telling.

That aside, this fella has a lot of good things to say. Even if he could have done it in half the time.

On the bigger issue, I do not know why we would ever try to control family members, beyond a spouse, from doing business just because their parent is in high office. Seems like what we need is HONEST investigations into any business relationships to make sure no actual conflicts are occurring. And we need to do this for all of Congress.

It might be easier to just skin em and hang their hides on the fence. I expect the number of innocents would be minimal and the cost worth the benefit.

    • Just A Citizen says:

Oh, one other thing. I think your claim that “The Left” is thinking this way is a little overstated. The lefties I know all think the whole Hunter Biden thing is a hoax created by the Republicans.

And your guy completely did not address the Intel Agency heads and ex heads who produced a letter claiming this was all Russian Disinformation. Which the media happily carried.

      • The Dread Pirate Mathius says:

Without condoning or condemning the reporting when The Laptop first arrived on the scene, I think you’d have to agree that the process by which it came to light was INCREDIBLY sketchy.

Someone drops off three laptops for repair at a fanatical Trump donor’s computer repair shop.. the owner doesn’t see who it is… H. Biden never returns for them and ignores attempted communication.. then the shop owner decides to “investigate” them(?).. and there’s no encryption or two-factor security.. then he turns them over to Guilliani right before the election.. and Guilliani swears they’re real because he had ‘his guy’ verify an email (something we could all do if he just released an email.. but he doesn’t release an email for some reason)..

Frankly, it’s so stacked that it’s hard to countenance that it NOT “fake news”… given that at least SOME of the emails have since been independently certified, the only conclusion I can reach is that the Powers That Be behind this deliberately played it this way for some opaque reason. That or staggering</b. incompetence.

Anyway, getting people to change their minds is an order of magnitude harder than convincing them in the first place. Everyone paying attention wants Biden charged and tried like an ordinary person. I have never met a single person who thinks that Biden should get special treatment. Everyone (on the left) who is not paying close attention had their impressions formed by the initial claim which, again, stunk to high heavens: they accepted it was fake and never bothered to update their opinions.

        ——————

Adding: no one in H. Biden's UHNW strata uses a rando's repair shop for their needs. They all use cybersecurity firms. I would be absolutely stunned to find that Biden actually dropped them off rather than them having been stollen or some such.

        • Just A Citizen says:

          DPM

I agree that the way it became public was sketchy. First smelling like just another political dirty trick. But it was also made available and word had gotten out more than “just a couple weeks before the election.”

From the early reporting the shop owner contacted the FBI first. They had the information and sat on it. That is when he gave it to Guilliani. But yes, how ironic it was just before the election and it was Guilliani of all people. Let us just agree that the guy who had it, however he came to have it, was probably not a fan of the Bidens and maybe a fan of Trump. Otherwise why give it to Guilliani, right?

As for your last comment. You are talking about a drug addled mind here remember. I understand the doubt but Mr. Biden has never claimed it or they were stolen. Which brings me to: The first story was about A laptop, as in ONE. I did not even know there were now 3 laptops in question.

          • The Dread Pirate Mathius says:

My understanding is that it was three “water-damaged” laptops.

As with so much else here, this never made much sense to me… who uses three laptops? Who brings them to a rando’s repair shop? What UHNW person doesn’t have a trusted IT guy/team? Why did he not have security on the laptops? Why did the shop owner feel justified in “investigating” them (except, of course, for nakedly partisan reasons). Why did he turn them over to Guilliani of all people? Why were they given to the FBI? WERE they given to the FBI? Why are they only showing us bits instead of dumping the whole thing? Why did Guiliani originally only let his one IT guy look rather than releasing easily verifiable proof to the world? It’s all just… baffling.

What all this appears to be is a hit job. A trial in the media by proxy.

Unless or until Guilliana feels like laying his cards on the table and letting us make our own informed opinion, I’ll continue to find the whole matter incredibly sketchy (re Guilliani and Hunter) and irrelevant (re Joe).

            • Two of Hunter’s business associates confirmed the emails were accurate by providing emails they received. One, Bobolinski, gave a lengthy interview to both the FBI and to Tucker Carlson. All of this was done in Oct. 2020 before the election. The reason you do not know about this is because your news sources suppressed the story and lied to you.

              • The Dread Pirate Mathius says:

I know that some guy – let’s assume it was this “Bobolinski” (which is how I’ll be referring to Charlie from now on, by the way) – confirmed one of the emails before the election.

I am unfamiliar with anything beyond that.

I have many media sources, not the least of which is this lunatic asylum, you may recall.

Nonetheless, I’ll reiterate my position. To the best of my knowledge, SOME of the emails have been independently verified. Consequently, the data – or at least some subset – is legitimate. That doesn’t mean ALL the data is legitimate, complete, and unaltered. Nor does that tell us what ALL the data says.

I’ll reiterate that the narrative for how this came to be in the hands of Guilliani stinks to high heaven – I think even you’ll agree with that. I trust it about as far as I can throw it. But where things have been proven true, they are true. Notwithstanding the above, I find the whole thing highly suspect given the incredibly questionable providence. (Would you trust data on Trump’s it was somehow dug up by Nancy Pelosi who found it while dumpster diving in the back of Piggly Wiggly?)

I will reiterate, further, that H. Biden is a coked out piece of shit who – absolutely – traded on his father’s name to enrich himself. And that, further, he likely committed crimes. (Though, of course, as a pirate, I do not recognize the authority of “law” per se). Yet, still, I know of no person who believes he should be held to a different standard than any other civilian.

I will reiterate, lastly, that I have seen nothing here that impugns J. Biden. By all accounts, he is a loving and caring father deeply concerned with the health and safety of his son. I have seen nothing other than one vague reference to a meeting with “the big guy” (while Joe was a lame duck) that could possibly reflect on J. Biden. So what is the big deal here?

                • Bobolinski says: He’s as guilty as the day is long, both Papa and sonnyboy. That said, nothing happens to them until there’s justice for the Orange Jesus and his sycophantic entourage of morons (lawyers included). The shit is starting to pile up on OJ … now we can add conspiracy to defraud the United States to the dozen other charges … and if it’s true Ms. E. Jean Carroll has some clothing with OJ’s gunk from 20 years ago (thank you, DNA), he Orange God may be facing rape charges in NY in a few more months. Question: does a former president lose his executive perks once he’s a convicted felon (and a piece of human waste (i.e., shit))? I would think so and certainly hope so because the shit that will slide out rom OJ’s diapers if he’s to perform a perp walk from the courthouse to a lockup would be worth $100 pay per view (the proceeds of which go to national health insurance). Bobolinksi has spoken. All bow … and what do you mean “he’s wrong” colonel? This site is ground zero for WRONG. 🙂

            • What all this appears to be is a hit job. A trial in the media by proxy.

          • The shop owner also had a receipt with H. Bidens’s signature plus his lawyer eventually asked for them back after it became public knowledge. He also had the FBI receipt for when they picked it up.

Also there was a large amount of public knowledge about Hunter’s connections to Barisma and the Chinese long before this story broke. This was just corroboration of the dirt already known. They evidence against Hunter far exceeds anything that the Steele dossier every had against Trump. Conspiracy theories work both ways and people believe what they want. You Mathius are not immune.

Perhaps, but, again, the accusations are against H. Biden and I am aware of NO ONE who is defending him.

These attacks and allegations against PRIVATE CITIZEN and well-established dirtbag H. Biden are being used to attack and smear J. Biden.

                    • S Kent Troy says:

Why are you talking science again? That went out the window with covid. Feelings are now rated higher than facts Mr. T. Or as Dion would have said, “Here’s a story that’s sad but true”.

Must give you a whole lot of credit. Reading your stuff has dredged up a whole lot of memories about my four year High School Science curriculum, all taught by the LaSallain Christian Brothers who were sticklers for proof!

Also an experiment in college in Experimental psych was designed to duplicate a prior, published study on Critical Flicker Frequency (CFF)and the use of tobacco. The published study “proved” the negative effect of nicotine, our closely monitored replication proved the exact opposite. It heightened your sense. Giving credit to our Prof, Dr. Daniel Dillon, he did not say we blew it but rather studied our method then questioned the validity of the published study.

” Critical flicker frequency (CFF) is a test of retinal gliopathy (that occurs in patients with HE) that can be performed using a portable machine. During this test, the patient is asked to indicate the maximum frequency at which they can still perceive the light as flickering while changing the frequency over time.”

        • I think you’d have to agree that the process by which it came to light was INCREDIBLY sketchy. Yes. But not unusual. It seems that anytime things turn up to the media, it is always sketchy no matter who.

and there’s no encryption or two-factor security.. Hmm….I don’t know about this. People who think they are untouchable overlook things like this. And who said HB was smart? He is addle brained.

then he turns them over to Guilliani right before the election.. Strange but not strange…..no different than turning things over to Adam Shithead….er…Shiff or Pelosi. It is the way of conspiracy theories in Washington.

Frankly, it’s so stacked that it’s hard to countenance that it NOT “fake news”… given that at least SOME of the emails have since been independently certified, the only conclusion I can reach is that the Powers That Be behind this deliberately played it this way for some opaque reason. Correct….much to “pat.” Sure is the same coincidences and things that all Washington conspiracy’s are built on.

Adding: no one in H. Biden’s UHNW strata uses a rando’s repair shop for their needs. They all use cybersecurity firms. I would be absolutely stunned to find that Biden actually dropped them off rather than them having been stollen or some such. Much like the English Pound sterling…..I would not bank on this assumption.

I’ll reiterate that the narrative for how this came to be in the hands of Guilliani stinks to high heaven – I think even you’ll agree with that. I trust it about as far as I can throw it. Yes…..but I will have to say that this type of thing stinks no matter who it is. I have to admit, that there is no media to be trusted. No whistle blower to be trusted. No informed source to be trusted. No committee to be trusted. No Washington insider to be trusted. ( And just so you and everyone knows, I include conservative media the same.) I am seeing that everything is tainted.

Yet, still, I know of no person who believes he should be held to a different standard than any other civilian. I will agree with your statement but it is not what your now missing counterpart thinks. He thinks because of position that people should be held more accountable and to a higher standard. (But that is why you probably have him locked up).

          =================================

One thing that really stood out to me is the nepotism and the insider trading and the profiteering off Big Daddy’s name…no matter who it is. I have a real problem with any Washington politician buying and selling stocks, bonds, land or anything where insider knowledge gives them an edge up. Children of POTUS’, no matter whom…..should not be allowed to do this either. I personally feel that all politicians should have their assets relegated to a blind trust. There is no question, in my mind, that Big Daddy Biden knows and knew about Hunter’s trade deals, access deals, and board sittings. ( I know how boards work. I sat on a bank board for one year. I was there because I was connected and my family was a large depositor. )**** The same works for large boards of corporations. It just sucks.

****Credit back to me that when I figured out how Boards worked (and yes, you get paid for being a director) I resigned my position because I actually have ethics (even though I am a friend of DPM)…

          • What was the shop owner supposed to do? He took it to the FBI and they buried it. If he goes to the NYT, they will bury it because they are anti-Trump and pro-democrat. He waited over one year for the story to break. The FBI knew that the Bidens were dirty in the Ukraine during the impeachment trial and could have cleared Trump. They stayed mum. What would you do?

            • The exact same thing he did. I never said he was wrong…..but anything given to guiliani is suspect because of Trump.

            • The Dread Pirate Mathius says:

What was the shop owner supposed to do?

Not go snooping through another person’s private data?

Even pretending that this is all on the up-and-up, completely legitimate, that H. Biden dropped off the laptops, asked for data recovery, and then never returned, data recovery is a 99% digital process with specialized tools. It is NOT a human reading each file – at best, if the guy is very thorough, maybe, he’d do some spot checks. There is no plausible scenario where the guy “had” to read through years of email history.

That doesn’t make H. Biden innocent of anything, but let’s not pretend like the shop owner is some paragon of virtue here. Either he’s in cahoots to receive and “launder” stolen data in order to attack J. Biden or, at the very best, he’s an unethical snoop who chose to turn over dirt to politicians rather than the proper authorities.

              • Not go snooping through another person’s private data? Standard operating procedure. One of my good friends (I actually have a couple) has a son who is a Geek Squad Specialist in Oklahoma for Best Buy. When repairing computers, he claims that there are mandates (from DA’s) out there to peruse picture files for child pornography. He said that they routinely spot check emails and browsing history when debugging things. He also says that if a computer is left over 90 days, it becomes their property.*****

The one thing that really bothers me about the lap top or lap tops….is why would he turn something like that over to a non law enforcement person?

Don’t know the answer, DPM. But I am not going to look under the bushes of conspiracy….I am really getting very tired of all the conspiracy theories out there.

***This particularly bothers me in that someone may have private photos of the wife on their computer….But, I just this very minute talked to one of my computer gurus who says that if you are eliminating viruses, trojans (get your mind out of the gutter) , worms, etc, it is standard procedure to scan and check sources of contamination and that means scanning origins and destinations of emails. Do not get me started on this because I barley know how to turn one on….and, if the now missing Mathius was here, he would tell you that he has instructed me on several things on the computer when I asked him. I admit to being a computer illiterate and have no inclination, at my age, to become a computer guru. But, I am smart enough to not store personal and private pictures on a computer nor keep sensitive information on my computer. This is also why I am not on the social media except here. One you are digital, you cannot expect privacy.

You are shooting the messenger because you do not like the message. This is exactly what happened with the DNC/Wiki email leaks. You have a spill on aisle three, clean it up. Don’t kill the kid that made it.

But that doesn’t mean I need to pretend that the other side of the equation is pure as the driven snow. It stinks to high heaven and I’m going to call it like I see it.

                  • “Yellow” snow?

                  • I find this comical. Hillary creates the Steele Dossier out of thin air and pushes to the media and the FBI who run with it. the laptop guru takes legit intel to the FBI who bury it but when he takes it to the opposition party and eventually to the press, it stinks to high heaven. All this because the MSM told you what to think.

Somehow, when the Pentagon Papers went to the press, nobody was very upset in MSM were they?

Can you not see how the discovery side of this seems hinky? I am not saying anything was wrong, but the whole affair seems bizarre. But part of that is the lack of action by the FBI.

The question is why did he go to Guilliani of all people, after the FBI did nothing?

                    • S Kent Troy says:

I would say that Rudy was the obvious choice. DOJ and FBI were lame, the major media wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole and despite Rudy’s association with Trump, he has a reputation for terrier like toughness that gets the job done. For his efforts, he has been disbarred in NY State.

Make a few suggestions about who else he could have brought it to if you would? One might say the Republican leadership, McConnell, McCarthy but do you really think it would have had legs both because of their ambivalence about DJT but also their willingness to bargain almost anything away to “go along, get along”.

Having lived through the Giuliani administration and happily watched his cops run the drug dealers out of numerous neighborhoods and cut municipal corruption to the bone, frankly, despite the “revisionist” views of his tenure, I cannot think of a better choice. Obviously our small businessman didn’t want the story buried. Rudy is paying for it though which leads to yet another question, Who else has the stones?

                    • Regarding Nosferatu (Giuliani) “For his efforts, he has been disbarred in NY State.”

He’s been disbarred because he’s a hack who lied in courts of law over and over again. “We have lots of theories and no evidence.”

    • Well, I watched it…..and all I can say is…..wow. I think the best thing to do is not believe anyone on either side. This is so cloak and daggerish.

Thought. Maybe what we need to do to deal once and for all with the BS about insurrections, coups, etc. etc. is to ……………… wait for it ……………
ELIMINATE all laws dealing with these supposed crimes.

Why does a country born of treason, insurrection and violent revolution have laws making the very same acts illegal????? Comon man!

Treason is a much easier legal term to define and enforce. It involves working for another country against our own. Direct cause/affect.

    • He lies …. he lies …

    • “Thought. Maybe what we need to do to deal once and for all with the BS about insurrections, coups, etc. etc. is to ……………… wait for it ……………

Wouldn’t THAT be convenient now? 🙂 You guys paying attention to OJ’s legal problems the last few days? Of course you are.

      • Just A Citizen says:

Not convenient at all. I made the same suggestion on this site a couple other times over the past ten years. I find the whole notion of sedition laws hypocritical given our founding and stated belief in Liberty.

        • “our founding and stated belief in Liberty.”

Talk is cheap (i.e., liberty) … it depends on whose ox is gored … the lifeline for corporate America is the fog the American taxpayers live in. They don’t care that the government/corporations don’t care. Capitalism at its best. 🙂

          • S Kent Troy says:

            Correction, FASCISM.

            • Yes, fascism … by corporations. They run the joint.

            • S Kent Troy says:

Corporations operate at the behest of the government. In many instances they believe that they “control” the government but the reverse is true. The government has the power to regulate or even shut down a corporation which the corporation does not. If you study Italy or Germany before the war, you will see that the corporations thought they were “using” the government for fun and profit but, when the merde hit the fan, they had no power to influence things. As near as I can tell moves to eliminate Hitler and Mussolini were orchestrated through the military or governmental offices but neither Krupp, IG Farben or their ilk backed them.

What’s that old expression, “they knew what side their bread was buttered on”.

              • “Corporations operate at the behest of the government.”

Only in our dreams. Corporations run the show here. They OWN the government. Government may have the theoretical power to regulate corporations, but Defacto they are merely the levers of power corporations use to their own benefit. The American Government was bought and sold a long time ago, SK. The scare Sanders gave the government with his populist movement had to be crushed for fear of the people have some say again. Trump’s populist movement had ZERO ideology and a ton of bullshit (like helping working men/women and “draining the swamp” … sure). Corporations right their own legislation and the government rubber stamps it.

      • Just A Citizen says:

P.S. I could give two hoots about Mr. Trump’s legal problems. They are his to deal with.

I will offer, however, that if your side keeps this up you may just get the guy elected again.

        • My side has ZERO skin in the game. Trump will never be elected again (unless Biden runs again). He’s toxic. That said, the Democrats will fuck it up with their Superdelegates because they’re idea of “democracy” is allowing the party AND LOBBYISTS to pick their nominee. A total joke. I just sit back and watch, cherry picking again those I deem pure criminals (like Trump). You are 100% correct in stating they are his to deal with. The moron did this to himself and now it’s up to the DOJ to find a pair of balls and finish him off.

      • You guys paying attention to OJ’s legal problems the last few days? Of course you are. No, the real question is…..why are you? You are wasting time on Trump. He lives rent free in your Plutonian brain.

        • Isn’t it weird, don’t you think, that it’s the SOCIALIST who is concerned with Justice and NOT the Republicans? I must be the “law and order” socialist. Trump has sped the plow to the end of democracy (as we’re used to it) and now instituted a potential overhaul of democracy by F’G lunatics with his MAGA candidates. Won’t it be great (for yous) when/if Arizona loses the next Presidential election and Kari Lake refuses to certify it? You know what’s coming with the assholes and yous applaud and/or ignore it. Why? Because deep down, I suspect you kind of like the idea of fascism, as long as it’s your side doing the bullying and suppressing. Shame on all of you.

I agree generally that State Legislatures have sole authority over the manner of their own elections. Including drawing district boundaries and conduct of Presidential elections.

However, this State supremacy argument that even a State’s Constitution cannot govern the Legislature is flat out contrary to our entire system of laws. If a LEGISLATURE passes a Constitution then that Legislature should damn well be held accountable to its terms.

    https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/19/politics/luttig-supreme-court-independent-state-legislature/index.html

With that said, I did not follow the particulars of some of these cases where the State Courts intervened, like taking on the redistricting maps themselves. Seems that is a far reach from ruling the Legislature violated some rule.

But funny how this kind of intervention by the Courts was OK with the Dems when it suited them.

Bottom line, the legislature (including Congress) should adhere to the Constitution(s) under which they function.

    • “I agree generally that State Legislatures have sole authority over the manner of their own elections. Including drawing district boundaries and conduct of Presidential elections.”

Until there is a nationalized standardized method of voting (and all that goes with it), it will remain a joke. Same goes for states with less than 1,000,000 people have the same number of Senators as states with +40 million. It’s time to update the entire pathetic system.

Reading an interesting study of the main players in the Korean War on the US side. Apparently, from mid-1952 on, as we were stuck in a political stalemate we bandied about, quite publicly, the use of tactical nukes. That held true through the end of the Truman Administration and the beginning of Eisenhower’s. The main push was not from the military leadership on the ground but from State and the JCS. We wanted out, we wanted a truce and the unrelenting pressure from NK and PRC causing constant casualties seemed to give us few options other than escalating the war to WW 2 proportions. Fortunately, Stalin died and the USSR wanted out too.

  13. Okay, this is an amendment they want to add to my state constitution. Opinions would be welcome. Feeling a little hinky about this one.

    Article III

    Text of Section 12:

In case of the removal of the governor from office, or of his death, or resignation, the powers and duties of the office shall devolve on the speaker of the Senate; and in case of the death, removal from office, or resignation of the speaker of the Senate, the powers and duties of the office shall devolve on the speaker of the House of Representatives.

Whenever the Governor transmits to the Secretary of State, the Speaker of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, a written, signed declaration that the Governor is unable to discharge the powers and duties of the office, the powers and duties of the office of Governor shall be temporarily discharged by the Speaker of the Senate as Acting Governor, or if that office is unoccupied, then by the Speaker of the House of Representatives as Acting Governor, until the Governor transmits to the same officials a written, signed declaration that the Governor is able to discharge the powers and duties of the office.

Whenever a majority of the commissioners of administrative departments of the Executive Department transmits to the Secretary of State, the Speaker of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written, signed declaration that the Governor is unable to discharge the powers and duties of the office, the Speaker of the Senate shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting Governor, or if that office is unoccupied, then the Speaker of the House of Representatives shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting Governor, until the Governor transmits to the same officials a written, signed declaration that the Governor is able to discharge the powers and duties of the office.

Whenever a Speaker is temporarily discharging the powers and duties of the office of Governor as Acting Governor, such Speaker shall not be required to resign the Speaker’s position as the Speaker or to resign as a member of the general assembly and shall retain the Speaker’s salary and not receive the Governor’s salary, but such Speaker shall not preside as Speaker or vote as a member of the general assembly during the time the Speaker is Acting Governor.

    Text of Section 13:

No member of Congress, or person holding any office under the United States, or this state, shall execute the office of governor except as provided in Article III, Section 12 with regard to the Speaker of the Senate or the Speaker of the House of Representatives temporarily discharging the powers and duties of the office of Governor as Acting Governor.

    Article II

    Text of Section 26:

No judge of any court of law or equity, secretary of state, attorney general, register, clerk of any Court of Record, or person holding any office under the authority of the United States, shall have a seat in the General Assembly; nor shall any person in this state hold more than one lucrative office at the same time; provided, that no appointment in the Militia, or to the Office of Justice of the Peace, shall be considered a lucrative office, or operative as a disqualification to a seat in either House of the General Assembly.

This section shall not apply with regard to the Speaker of the Senate or the Speaker of the House of Representatives temporarily discharging the powers and duties of the office of Governor as Acting Governor under Article III, Section 12. [5]

    • Just A Citizen says:

      V.H.

My first comment is “But Why?”

What is it that has caused someone to think this is necessary now?

      • I don’t know “why now”. The reasoning that is stated, is that the constitution does not address what should be done if the governor is temporarily not able to do his job and that most, if not all states have something like this in their constitutions.

        • Just A Citizen says:

          V.H.

Do you not have a Lt. Governor? We do and the power of the office goes to the Lt. Governor if the Governor is away or incapacitated.

          • The speaker of the Senate is the Lt. Governor.

            • Just A Citizen says:

OK! So I guess the legislature felt it necessary to clarify succession. But I think this is far to reaching, if you will.

Why not simply state the Lt.Governor shall become governor until …… ?????

I see you have a potential conflict built into the system they seem to be trying to address. If the Lt. Gov. is the Speaker of the Senate then he/she has power in the Senate that the Governor does not have. Looks like they are trying to do a “hog all” with the Lt. Gov stepping in as “Acting” Governor but keeping the job of Lt. Gov at the same time, which allows keeping the power of the Speaker of the Senate job. That is TOO MUCH power in the hands of one person, even if it is temporary.

I DO NOT like the amendment as written. But that is given my limited knowledge of your Constitution. It just seems far too much for a simple transfer of power during a Governor’s inability to do the job.

I think an amendment dealing with succession is needed if there is none. But this just seems far to complicated and self serving, from the Lt. Gov. position, for my liking.

I especially do not like the provisions for Commissioners to get together and declare the Gov. unfit for the job, then the same Gov. can turn around and send a letter stating he/she is fit for the job. If they are going to get into the weeds of having exec. branch member declaring someone unfit then there should be a process for validating the condition causing the letter. Not just taking their word for it. And especially not then allowing the accused to simply call B.S. and get reinstated.

              • They do specify that the “Speaker shall not preside as Speaker or vote as a member of the general assembly during the time the Speaker is Acting Governor”, not sure how much power that actually takes away. Although, I don’t think he or she should lose the position for a temporary situation. But I really dislike that there is no definition for temporary. The words the majority can, etc, is confusing. If I’m not sure how to interpret its meaning, than it can be interpreted in more than one way. Not a good thing for a constitution. So thank you for helping me think this through.

                • Just A Citizen says:

                  V.H.

And if the Speaker cannot act as Speaker while in the Temp. Acting Gov. role, then who becomes the Acting Speaker??? Just one more nail, in my opinion.

    • S Kent Troy says:

One of the reasons why, a dozen years back or so, NJ finally created the position of Lieutenant Governor, though, all things being equal when Jim McGreevy had to resign because of his gay trysts with people he had put on the state payroll. The Senate President, Richard Cody did a bang up job as “acting” governor, governing from the center with no desire to run himself.

Then again, when Eliot Spitzer had to resign in NY because of his extraordinary S and M trysts with high priced call girls, David Patterson, his Lt. Governor did a great job, also governing from the center, as his replacement. Wish to God he had stayed and saved us from Cuomo Jr. and of course his “successor” upon resignation, Kathy the baby killer Hochel.

How do you know when the Democrats think they are in trouble?

They resort to the pettiest of smears they have used in the past.

Today I see Dr. Oz is an animal abuser. Shades of Mitt Romney anyone?

I also see that per Oprah the current Governor of Georgia will be taking away everyone’s healthcare if re-elected. His is going to push granny off the cliff and starve all the children to death.

The saddest part of this is how many Americans will fall for this garbage. You know, those people raised in the most educated society in human history.

    • “You know, those people raised in the most educated society in human history.”

As opposed to the toothless wonders who support a city born con artists to the point of feeding his fugazy “legal defense fund,” etc., and making complete fools of themselves.

How can you tell when a Republican thinks he or she is in trouble?

Resort to their favorite catch words “law and order” (while ignoring the Knucklehead Revolution and trying to squeeze “fake electors” into the electoral college count) … “liberty!” (while seeking to hinder voting rights) … “patriot!” (while committing acts of insurrection) … “Christian!” … while bending the knee to the ultimate false God, Donald J. Trump. You can’t make this stuff up. 🙂

      • Just A Citizen says:

Yet you just did. And to show just how knee jerk you are, your comments were NOT opposed to my comment.

Sometimes you really should stop to think a minute or two before popping off.

        • Once again, Oh master of right and wrong (you get this from Black Flag, because he had the same arrogant assumptions?) … prove I made them up. Prove one thing I mentioned isn’t exactly how Republicans respond to everything … it’s all bullshit and they can’t spew it fast enough … much like yourself, JAC. 🙂

          • Just A Citizen says:

Nothing you spewed has anything to do with the idea of “in trouble”. That was your mistake from the outset.

Second was providing your standard litany of complaints about Republicans as a counter to my statement and sarcasm about our level of education. Your list compliments my point, it does not counter my point. Unless the tendencies of the R’s you so despise are correct. Which would make them smarter, again failing to make the point.

So you see, whether people do or do not say the things you mentioned is irrelevant.

            • Everything i said there is spot on. When Republicans are in trouble, they whip out the old Marxist playbook. That asswipe, Mark Levin, call the democrats and Biden “radical marxists” … either he’s a bigger fucking moron than he appears to be, or he’s full of shit. I suspect is the latter. It’s the same old, same old. “Law and order” party … liberty! … on and on … all pure bullshit because they fear losing power. They’re fortunate to exist in Dumbfuckistan where they’ll likely regain control of Congress … and won’t that be a blast? 🙂

            • Nothing, huh? 🙂

              • More politicians calling each other names. What’s new. Not a damn fact in the video about what was good or bad about the legislation.

                • Unless you believe (as many here probably do) that Democrats are grooming kids, etc. … or is that just something Republicans fall on when they don’t have a single policy to compare to what they complain about? Where is that “healthcare package” they were going to replace the ACA with? How about the border policy they were so keen on?

                  • Just A Citizen says:

Can you tell us why you want first graders introduced to sex toys?

                    • You say that as if a) it’s something real … and b) it’s some nationwide attempt for DEMOCRATS to groom kids. Do you have any idea how fucking insane that is? How absurd and ridiculous your assumptions is? It’s why we laugh at that kind of stupidness. How can you fall for that bullshit? Wait, I know … never mind.

                    • Charlie, where have you been? Drag queen story hours, erotic drag shows in the classroom, field trips to drag shows, explicit sex books showing the mechanics of homosexual acts not to mention pride flags in classrooms and hosts of other concerns. Videos abound of parents reading the books at school board meetings and coming dressed in similar costumes only to be shut down for inappropriate material.

I have asked you repeatedly whether you approve of this kind of public “education” and you have ducked the question despite the fact that I suspect you would not approve if this was happening to your kids or grand kids. You just claim we are banning books and want to raise ignorant children. Your last statement is the first time you have indicated that you are not comfortable with this.

We screamed about FGM a few years ago but puberty blockers and cut it all off are now OK as long as you do not tell the parents. In VH’s terms this is sick and anyone that agrees with it is equally sick.

                    • 1) “pride flags in classrooms” … why the hell would that bother you? The American Flag in classrooms bothers me more.

The other things you’ve listed, I have seen or heard of them. Do you have proof or is this just another conspiracy theory you guys seem to live off of? Where’s the proof of this?

                    • Okay, I found an article (I’ll keep searching). I’m 100% behind this. No problem. My grandchildren aren’t being brought up in a constipated home. What’s the big deal?

                    • Again, I have no problem with this. Teen literature should shield teens from the real world. This is kind of like the CRT bullshit. Don’t teach our children actual American History because they’ll hate themselves? Total horseshit. The more knowledge, the more power … and I suspect that’s what concerns the right wing psychos more than anything else.
                      https://www.yalsa.ala.org/jrlya/2010/11/pushing-the-envelope-exploring-sexuality-in-teen-literature/

                  • I just saw this one and I have to admit, it’s over the top for younger kids, but I DO NOT have a problem with it in high schools. In case you haven’t noticed, most kids are well sexualized by high school, including having sex. In fact, there was a very smart campaign among high school girls a few years back where they preferred to perform oral sex on boys rather than have intercourse (circumventing pregnancy). I would be against it in grammar school, but not for the same reasons as you lunatics. I don’t think it would “groom” anybody, but kids can do some crazy experimenting, so maybe keep it in high schools that want to show it.

Relatives from Southern Cal just came to visit. Their local grade school has put a box of Kitty Litter in the boys bathroom. Why you ask?

Because one of the boys has self identified as a cat and the powers to be have told the school they must accommodate the “cat”.

Our relatives were seriously perplexed by this and other things they shared about the schools there. They asked what we would do here.

I explained that we had a policy in our schools. No animals allowed unless they are a service animal. So the “Cat” would just have to stay at home.

  18. I am going to write a few comments on the party of cults called progressivism. Here is the first cult.

The Progressives of the Democrat party are a party of cults.
The Cult of Climate Change: Progressives worship existential climate change as it is a problem that never can be solved hence gives them a perpetual issue to force their world view on the population. Anyone that looks at the ample science that the climate is not catastrophically changing, hence not a threat is attacked as a skeptic (heretic). The debate is over, thou shalt believe and obey and more consequentially pay. We will cripple the western industrial society to transfer wealth to the third world. Never mind that that wealth will be stolen. Fossil fuels will be denied to these third world countries, thus preventing them from easing their poverty and raising them from a life of manual labor to one assisted by machines. In our quest for a non-fossil fuel society, they will increase their demands that others rape their environments to supply the minerals necessary to support their agenda.

Observation: If the skeptics are right and there is no existential climate change, should we not celebrate?

    • 🙂 That particular issue doesn’t seem to be a big deal in the midterms, but feel free to make believe you know what you’re talking about. 🙂

      • I suspect that I have done far more reading and studying on the topic than you have. It is well documented that none, as in ZERO, of the predictions made in the 1988 congressional hearing on AGW have come true. It is well documented that it is cooler today than in the the 1930’s and during the Medieval Warm Period or the Roman Warm Period. It is well documented that storms, floods, droughts, tornadoes, wild fires, etc. are not more severe or frequent than they were a century ago. Sea levels continue to rise at only 3 mm/yr as they have done since exiting the Little Ice Age in 1850. It is scientific fact that the correlation between increasing CO2 concentration and temperature has been broken for the last 20 years. It is fact that the AGW models (the only thing the doom and gloom crowd have to predict catastrophe) have over estimated the temperature increase for the last 20 years thus are proven to have no predictive power. It is scientific fact that while the earth radiates blackbody radiation based on its temperature back into the atmosphere and that CO2 and H2O absorb it, the lifetime of the excited states are about 1s much longer than the mean time between collisions with other molecules in the air which is under 1 ms. Thus the excited molecule under goes over 1000 collisions with much more numerous N2 and O2 molecules transferring the energy to them. These molecules cannot radiate so transfer the energy by convection. Thus, the de-energized CO2 molecule does not re-radiate the energy back to the earth increasing its temperature. The whole AGW scheme fails when one studies the thermodynamics.

Science is not based on consensus no matter how loud fools like you scream.

        • “I suspect that I have done far more reading and studying on the topic than you have.”

Possibly, since I tend to turn towards the men of actual science and not right wing bloggers … but … then there’s this …

“Science is not based on consensus no matter how loud fools like you scream.”

Right, you versus 99% of Scientists and a Cornell study. Sure, T. YOU must have it right … 🙂
          https://news.cornell.edu/stories/2021/10/more-999-studies-agree-humans-caused-climate-change

          • I wonder……since not one single catastrophic event has occurred from all the end of the world predictions……when is this science to be believed?

          • I suspect this is a highly bogus study as was the original 2013 study. The 2013 study threw out all papers that offered no opinion about 2/3. They based their statistics on the remainder; so the real statistic is about 30%. Of these they did not evaluate if the authors considered humans to be a major or minor cause of warming. Given the East Anglia email revelations that the proponents were stacking the deck at the refereed journals with proponents and shooting down papers that were skeptical and the fact that government agencies tend to defund skeptics (which is why most of the skeptics are retirees), I am not surprised. Your reference does not list the criteria for declaring authors pro or con nor does it list no comments or degrees of human contributions. Once again, science does not work on consensus. It is meaningless. One correct person out ways a million.

  19. Interesting discussion. Egalitarian, difficult word to understand.

    • Just A Citizen says:

      V.H.

Your concern is partly due to the word being used in two different contexts.

One is the equality of people under the law. That concept of course is rooted in our own via the English Common Law tradition.

The other is equality of outcomes or conditions. That concept is contradictory to the first in many ways. It is the root of the Socialist dogma.

Another word that has been twisted into two opposites is ALTRUISM.

        2nd attempt:

        • Well, reference still did not work but you gave me enough to research…..however, please let me state that backpacks in public and private schools have been required for years. This is nothing new. The original requirement was because of guns and drugs….never heard of it for books but will research this. Have numerous friends on the spousal side that are teachers, including spousal unit whom is now retired. I bet I can get some good “done” on this.

          • Don’t bother Colonel. He’s pulling your stetson strings. It’s from The Onion…satire. Lame satire, much like the Gadsden snake/ Flag meme. The left just can not meme!

The left just can not meme!

Whereas the right gives us gems like this…

            • Thats ok Anita……I was wrong about mandatory clear backpacks being a requirement, it was left up to schools. My kids wore them back in the 70s….however, there is a move to make it mandatory but not one in relationships to books. I surveyed about 7 different sights on this and the only thing mentioned was prohibitive items….nothing about books……eve from NPR.

A few years back, there was a problem in high schools of weapons being brought in…..that seems to have subsided because back packs are being checked any way….going to clear backpacks moves the line a little faster.

The State is providing, at no charge, the back packs.

  21. The Orange Coward won’t show. He’ll talk shit, like he always does, and he’ll cop out, like he always does.

Some of my law enforcement friends took issue with my complaints/posts about dirty cops. Shame on them. I’m almost finished reading “Hold the Line” by Michael Fanone, the poor bastard who had the shit beat out of him on January 6 (he was off-duty and responding to fellow officers requests for help) … he and his partner were caught in the tunnel, but Fanone is the one who was dragged out of the tunnel, hit with a taser twice, and beaten with Trump flag poles, etc., and suffered a heart attack. I’ll review it in a few days. He too would like to see the “law and order” President answer for his actions leading to the assault and his lack of action while it was taking place (while Trump watched it on television). Fanone admits to some bad actions as a law officer during his younger days … and he voted for Trump (like 99% of those who testified at the January 6 hearings) … he was fooled by the ultimate con artist and his “law and order” horseshit. The criminal Trump may FINALLY be facing some justice … but don’t count on it. What you can count on, however, is how police unions and most of its rank and file STILL believe this orange piece of shit supports them. FUCKING FOOLS.

You confuse me, JAC. Are you saying those who turned on Trump were doing something wrong? They should stand behind the blowhard and his lies and his crimes? Are you advocating for criminals because they’re pro-Trump? 🙂

        • Peter Navarro gets right down to it, calling out many people who were outright bad picks by Trump or those who worked to undermine his agenda. He also has some fresh names for positions in a second term. I saw him on two different podcasts. One with Charlie Kirk and I forgot the other guy, a former Newsmax anchor. Search Rumble for Navarro interviews if you’re interested. Rumble links seem to get hung up around here.

          • Just A Citizen says:

            Anita
You may recall back in the beginning of Mr. Trump’s run I warned that there is a downside to someone with zero govt. experience. This was one of the places where that was exposed. He had to take others advice, those others were of the swamp. It is an unavoidable hazard as nobody from the outside is going to be able to run the govt. effectively if the swamp wants to push back.

Not unless there is a major blood letting. But then you lose all the top management skills. Then if you do you have all these outsiders who themselves have personal agendas you may not like.

It is a very obnoxious conundrum.

Of course, if I am elected it will all be different. I will drain the swamp and the govt. will not miss a beat. Although it might be a little smaller. 🙂

            • Yeah, I remember your warnings. They had me fooled for sure. The Generals, I was all for them, until I wasn’t. Tillerson seemed to be a good pick…not! Its disappointing how complex and downright evil things get when it should be the opposite. You would figure if you go in with a team, the team is all on the same page. But not for Trump. Navarro was saying that from his off the cuff memory, only he, Stephen Miller, and Dan Scavino made it wire to wire.

            • Yeah, JAC, he sure “drained the swamp” … what a comedian you are. Anita, my love, don’t listen to this bullshit. You’re better than that!

  28. Interesting:

A “Face the Nation” focus group featuring a Republican, Democrat and an independent unanimously agreed that “woke culture” has become a prime concern for parents raising children in America.John, a Texas Republican, cited the “woke” overhaul of U.S. education as a key issue for parents.”The whole woke culture affecting our children, all these elementary, middle schools having woke culture pushed on them from the LGBTQ+ community for sexual identify and gender. We should be pushing the actual school studies. Math, social studies, science,” he said. “Not gender studies.”Lashawn, an Illinois Democrat and mother of eight, largely agreed.

Lashawn said parents should have more of a say over what children are taught.

Stephanie, an independent from Arkansas, also agreed, spotlighting the struggles children are facing as they get back in their classrooms after extended school closures.

Later in the segment, Lashawn took aim at leaders in her own party for putting the needs of illegal migrants before Americans with misguided open border policies.

“I mean, there’s nothing wrong with helping, but we have more problems here in our country. I feel like there is so much focus on helping immigrants and not enough focus on the people here that might need assistance.”

      • Do you think it possible that there’s a feedback loop at play here?

        Entirely possible….you betcha.

        • However, it is having a real effect on the Southern Blue border of Texas….this is turning it red….these midterms will show some of it I think. We are finding out that education (the lack thereof) and this gender thing is actually not very popular down here…especially among the Hispanic community. It appears that way. anyhow. It looks like long time Democratic Henry Cuellar is not a shoe in..Republican Hispanic females seem to be moving in….and the issues are education and immigration. The Hispanics down here (the legal ones) do not like illegal immigration very much.

Dont know….but we will see what the mid terms hold.

      • Just A Citizen says:

        Yes there is.

        More People don’t like it.

And round and round we go.

    • Isn’t it great that you like labeling….when you are supposed to be the inclusive one.

      • I don’t like jerking myself off, Colonel. If you want to claim Clarence Thomas is a fair man, be my guest. I’m sure he is to most on this site. If they fall for Trump’s bullshit, why not Thomas? I am inclusive, but I prefer reality to fantasy. Tell me something, do you believe Uncle Thomas and his wife do not discuss politics or they’re love of Trump together? Consider it a litmus test as to whether or not you’ll be forthcoming about that particular issue. 🙂

        • My litmus test, Charlie, is to try being consistent. I may stray sometimes but not very far. You are supposed to be inclusive, yet you use racists terms like Uncle Tom…..Orange Jesus…..etc. Uncle Clarence…are all clearly racists terms. They are unnecessary but I am sure you use them to rile up peoples feelings…they do not belong. That is all…..I do not care what people discuss on their pillow talk. None of my business and none of yours.

THE ONLY ISSUE I AM BRINGING UP IS NOT HOW CLARENCE THOMAS BELIEVES. IT IS ONLY THE LABELING WHICH, IN THE PAST, YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AGAINST (IF i REMEMBER CORRECTLY). *****

***** Caps are not yelling nor a sign of disrespect.

          • Oh, I am definitely using a racist term for Mr. Thomas … because he is the epitome of the an Uncle Tom. I don’t mind it when Trump et al use racist terms at all … In fact, I love it when they expose themselves as the racists they are. If I don’t have a right to use Uncle Tom when discussing Clarence Thomas, it’s only because I’m white and some may be offended in the black community for it. Tough shit, I say. The man is garbage, as is Trump. When they use racist terms, I’m fine with it, trust me. I love them being exposed … and I’ve never hidden my feelings about anything (I think you know that). When I point out that Trump used a racist term, it’s for the benefit of his supporters, who seem to be blind to his commentary. When Clarence Thomas supports his racist lord and savior, the Orange Jesus, I couldn’t be happier.

    • Just A Citizen says:

I believe that would be “Uncle Clarence” since Tom was the man’s first name.

Thank God for Justice Thomas. I hope he becomes the next Chief Justice, but he is getting on in years.

Probably has been the most consistent Justice in my lifetime on matters of the Constitution. His arguments always seem solid and well thought out.

He is only criticized because those on the left don’t like the outcomes. They think that if they sneak one by us while they rule the majority it should never be fixed. With that thinking slavery would still be around and schools would all be segregated.

Hard to say for sure where the Rush Limbaugh torch was passed but in the months before Rush died he stopped calling TC, “Chatsworth Osborne Jr.” (a Dobie Gillis) reference and actually, without naming him, said nice things about him. I remember pointing out to the bride that this seemed a back door endorsement or anointing if you will. Certainly it is fair to point out the Rush was a pundit whom the republican establishment and our “fair weather” friends deeply feared.

(Russia has no capable navy to stop this embargo but would be given access to trade routes. The American Navy, right now is capable of breaking the embargo but we probably lack the resolve to do so.

I will also take issue with the “debunking” of 2000 mules. I do not know of any investigation where the information (phone numbers) were tracked back to individuals and those individuals interviewed or if the drop houses were investigated. I have seen one report that at one drop box in GA, 271 people visited between pickups and 1962 ballots were collected, none with the required signature of an authorized individual dropping the ballot for a family member. All the debunking uses speculation and not verifiable facts.

        T-Ray,

Have you ever heard of Russel’s Teapot, sir?

You assert these things, these flimsy unfalsifiable assertions, on the back of blatant partisan exercises in manipulative and selective data analysis. And then you plop down the burden of proof at poor Charlie’s feet and say “I demand you disprove this crazy, biased, shoddily-constructed, and highly speculative claim” rather than shouldering the onus of supporting your own claim.

There is no amount of evidence he could ever provide you to DISprove the fantasy of (widespread) election fraud. The debunking of 2000 Mules is readily available, well sourced, and comprehensive. But you do not accept it, asserting it is true until proven to your satisfaction. Even if you do ultimately accept that this example is nonsense, you, and others so-motivated, will always shift to a new accusation, a new theory, and new argument, and new supposed report, a new questionable study. All the while pointedly refusing to accept the most credible, the most plausible, the most Occam’s Razor of alternative theories: that your candidate simply got fewer votes.

Charlie can only ever disprove your claims by accounting for every single voter and matching them 1-to-1 with every single ballot. Something, I think even you must agree is impossible.

No sir. He is under no obligation to surrender to you an unlimited number of hours of his life to provide a comprehensive itemized debunking of the conspiracy theory de jure. Moreso because – even though the burden of proof is not his to bear – you demand an absurd amount of demonstrated bad faith and illogic and contra-evidence to even consider that a claim might be false. And, again, even if you do accept that, you simply shift to the next theory so long as it supports the final conclusion you want to believe.

You have a belief in search of evidence.

I say to you that you have had your shot. Your day(s) in court. The burden of proof is YOURS to bear and it is incumbent on you to support your assertions- assertions that are rightfully deemed false until supported by strong evidence.

Just like a Flat Earther… after so many attempts, after so much debunking, you are presumed wrong prima facie. Neither Charlie nor I have to entertain your umpteenth theory and crazed logic.

        • T-man … this is why we laugh at 2,000 mules …

        • T-man: In 2015-16, Trump told you if he lost it has to be rigged. He won the Electoral College, but lost the popular vote (so that had to be rigged when 3 or was it 6 million or whatever the number was that spewed from his orange asshole of a mouth “illegals” voted in California?) … in 2020 he told you the same bullshit story, if he loses then it’s rigged … even advisors Stone and Bannon are on video claiming that is Trump’s plan to claim victory whether he wins or not. He lost both the popular and the Electoral Collge (albeit close in the EC) and he did EXACTLY as he said he would … and only you and your people won’t believe it because it’s either willful ignorance or just good old fashioned lying through your teeth because you actually know better.

Why do you still believe his obvious bullshit? What the ____ is wrong with you? 🙂

          • I do not give a shit what Trump says. I look at the data.

I do not care about the popular vote….it is meaningless to me. I do not care, at this point, about stuffing ballot boxes. I am sure that it happened in places but that is a State issue. Fix the problem.

That’s EXACTLY what the Republican want to do … use the Gravy Seals to intimidate voters and maintain Republican wins where they can dispute whatever they choose. Make it a national policy and procedure and let the MAGA crowd go nuts. 🙂

There are 50 states….and they should have autonomy to run their own affairs.

                • Why trade and defense? That’s like half pregnant, no? If texas is so macho, let Texas fight China. I’ll sell tickets. If Texas is so self-sufficient, let Texas handle it’s own defense. We already know how macho its police in Uvalde is …

The 50 separate states scenario is a disaster, as is clearly obvious, but what the hell, let it ride … the end of Empire is around the corner (certainly more so than the end of Covid, as OJ claimed) … 🙂

                  • I suppose we could spare a couple of Rangers to take on China….

By the way, the entire Uvalde police force has been terminated….or most of them.

                    • I read that it was the entire Uvalde Public School police force that was terminated. Has it expanded to the city force too?

                    • I remain surprised why, if there were Texas in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq … we lost.

I sure hope they were terminated … but under your states rights they can get hired in the next town or state … and that is obscene.

            • The electoral count itself, no. Its what happened in the swing states before the count that I have issue with. Legislators in my state had asked for Pence to allow our votes to come back before he certified. Several Federal congress people had objections ready to go before Pence decided to just flat out certify. My problem is with Pence, not necessarily the count. Considering the magnitude of the protests, questions whether by state or federal legislatures, the obtuseness of the judiciary in not looking at ANY evidence of fraud, the vagueness of whether Pence had authority to wait this out or not… it all stinks. Pence could have come out with a better image even IF he was right.

disclaimer: my state legislature stinks also

              • Another thing. Pence played sketchy business in the days previous too by saying he would fight to the end…creating a false perception that he WAS capable of sending the questions back to the states. So which way is it? Can anyone cite a clear case on what his obligation was? Then maybe run that by scholars like Mark Levin, Sebastian Gorka, or others who said Pence had options.

                • “Mark Levin” … now I may have to hang myself … I often listen to his bullshit on the way home from work. I usually last 2-5 minutes, laugh a few times, then quickly grow bored when he calls the Democrats or Biden “Marxists” … Levin is a total hack. I do enjoy his nicknames though (MSLSD, Rachel Madcow, etc.), but the guy is full of shit. Always was, always will be. He lies a dozen times a night. Pence’s obligation is very clear: Count the votes. Not dismiss some and count others. Not ignore some and send them back to the states. The states have already certified the ballots. Fake ones should be prosecuted as a conspiracy to defraud the United States (hopefully, they will be). Assuming the power of some Political God and returning certified votes to the states is a recipe for chaos (and treasonous). Time to get over it. Trump lost … BIGLY.

              • “Legislators in my state had asked for Pence to allow our votes to come back before he certified.”

Anita, my love, I believe you’re going to make me have another dizzy spell. Those WERE CERTIFIED votes Pence counted. The others wee FAKE CERTIFICATIONS. If Pence had ignored CERTIFIED VOTES so the Republican houses in those states could hand the election to OJ, after the smoke cleared (and assuming an OUNCE of justice in this oligarchy called America), he would’ve/should’ve been hung. 🙂

                • Fair enough. You know what I was getting at. I see you didn’t mention a clear case on Pence’s obligation. “They” say its a ceremonial count, but there is more to it than that.

                  • No….it is not ceremonial……Pence could have stopped the count.

                    • No, he couldn’t. Where do you people get this bullshit from? He was “obligated” to do his job, which was count the votes. That’s all he was empowered to do. Jahsis Christ! 🙂

                    • Charlie, I get the information from the rules of the House and Senate regarding objections. There are several approaches to objections. The VP can stop the counting until the objections are noted and decided. The VP CANNOT issue an objection and cannot stop a vote for the purpose of changing the outcome of any election. He/she does not have that power but the VP can stop the counting and not certify until all objections (following the rules) are settled by the unanimous vote of both houses. Pursuant to the Act of 1877, 91-1, Jan 6 1969. It has happened only twice.

                    • Colonel, that is exactly what happened. All the naysayers were given their day on the floor, then the house voted. It was done EXACTLY as it was supposed to, so the VP does NOT have the right to ignore or reject CERTIFIED ELECTION RESULTS. (ignore the ALL CAPS … that’s me screaming in my noggin’ … By the way, I’m watching the Fetterman-Oz debate. That race is OVER. I don’t know how they could let that poor bastard go on the stage for a debate with a professional con artist. Fetterman lost his shot because he’s clearly (health reasons or not) blowing this big time/bigly.

                    • The other thing, two Republicans who lost their primaries already claimed their election was rigged. Thank you, Orange Jesus! This country is going down the toilet in one big red wave flush. 🙂

Above is a typical “fact check”. Where in this article did they actually do a survey of the actual phone numbers linked to specific people and interview them? Where did they check the locations of the reported ballot sources? Where did they look at the time stamps and determine that the individual was just “driving by w/o stopping” or stayed so long as to conduct other business? These actions require the ability to subpoena phone records and other information. The bottom line is that no one followed up. De Sousa did offer the data to law enforcement and did interview one individual who claimed to be a mule. If you constantly bury your head in the sand, you will never know.

I posted one piece of evidence that shows a great disparity between the number of individuals visiting a drop box and the ballots collected in a state the does not permit ballot harvesting. The average was over 7 ballots dropped per visit. Does that not seem odd to you?

A couple of years ago, Project Veritas had video evidence of ballot harvesting in MN. They showed how it’s done. They go around the neighborhood collecting mailed out ballots, get people to sign them and then fill them out.

I have two ballots here mailed to my wife and I. They are identical. No watermarks and no serial numbers. All the numbers and markings match. There is a square barcode in the corner. I overlaid the ballots and back illuminated them with a flashlight. No difference in the barcode. The only thing that would be hard to duplicate is faint county seal.

When you show me legitimate evidence that you actually checked the facts, then I will change my mind. Until then, all the rebuttals are just guess work, speculation, and opinions.

        • The assertions are definitely falsifiable. All it takes is an energetic reporter to run an experiment with a couple modern cell phones and to show the GPS and time stamp data is not accurate enough for the tacking proposed in 2000 Mules. It is a very simple experiment and could get rid of all the weasel words like maybe, could’ve….

I had a much longer response but it went into all pervasive ether. Oh, excuse me, the all pervasive ether theory got totally debunked by Michaelson and Morley.

      • S Kent Troy says:

Perhaps I am wrong here but almost immediately after the election it was pointed out that 40,000 votes in SIX states swung that election. The States I remember off the top of my head, AZ, PA, GA and WI. If true, that does make the “minor cheating” germane.

The other issue that can never be talked about is the various state constitutions violated by the “Covid Emergency” and court and executive involvement in legislative matters.

        • There are also Zuck bucks, FBI advising tech giants to block the Hunter story as Russian disinformation, failure to match signatures on ballot envelops, 100% turnout in some WI nursing homes which included mentally incompetent people voting as testified to by their children, illegally blocking poll watchers, preventing voter rolls from being cleaned up,….

From the comments of our resident left leaning friends, I can only conclude that they condone ballot fraud since they do not seem to support any efforts to clean things up.

    • I’m with TRay. 2000 Mules also showed that many drop boxes were strategically placed to avoid cameras, so if people are willing to film them, why not? But then what? What if there is box stuffing again? Will video evidence get us anywhere this time? If nothing else, it will show a pattern from year to year. The dam will have to break sometime. The article says that people have taken to covering their license plates…which is illegal to begin with. There is always a work around as I read about on another article. Apple Air Tags can be purchased 4 for $100. Tracking devices that can be stuck on the vehicle…track it back to the pick up points. Another more crazy option I read was to cause a fender bender to the drop off car, which would expose the covered plate and trace that car’s movements back to the ballot box…where cameras have captured the drop. Its getting spicy out there.

      • Anita….you are going to read and hear about a variety of things right out of James Bond. However, election security is a State problem. Fix it there and it can be fixed. Worry about the future, not what DID happen.

        • “election security is a State problem.” Therein lies the rub, Colonel. Make it a national policy (same as policing) … do not allow red states or blue to alter election procedures or you get the bullshit we’re getting now. What DID happen, by the way, is the Zombie, Joe Biden, received more popular AND electoral votes than the criminal, Donald Trump. It’s as simple as that.

I reiterate (as I did to T-man earlier): In 2015-16, Trump told you if he lost it has to be rigged.

          • I simply do not care what Trump said…..I care that the electoral votes from the states went to Washington, where they were certified by Pence, who is a Republican and did his job and properly certified the electoral count,

            • Thank you, Colonel. Now, do you think Mr. Trump was responsible for January 6? I know you say you want to wait for a trial that may never happen, but what is your prima facie opinion?

              • My opinion is……..I do not know. Out of curiosity, why do you think a trial will not happen? If they have a strong case, why no trial?

                • I don’t believe you, but I still love you.

If there’s no trial, it’ll be because the Dems are even more feckless than they appear (and fear Biden will be roasted next—and he should be).

                  • The Dread Pirate Mathius says:

it’ll be because the Dems are even more feckless than they appear

                    They appear completely feckless.

You are posting strange new realms of theoretical fecklessness.

How is possible for the Democrats to be more than 100% feckless?

What does it mean for Nancy Pelosi to be 112% feckless?

                    • About the same way that the Submarine commander of Red October….when he says….”then give me a 105% on the reactor.”

                    • Well, Dread, look at Tulsi Gabbard, a one-time Democrat I admired turned Kari Lake supporter. Easily computed to 120% feckless.

Upon further review of her now infamous ice cream home video, 400 year old Nancy Pelosi has achieved 112% (your number) fecklessness.

          • Charlie, who are you gonna claim is your scapegoat when the MAGA movement continues after ’24?

        • I agree Colonel. That’s why I have the backs of the group in AZ being watchdogs for THIS election. Hopefully more groups plan to throw sand in the gears, because its clear there are problems.

  40. Just A Citizen says:

Always snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Sad thing is McConnell isn’t going anywhere. There are not enough Senators with brass to send him to the back row.

    https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/3702813-alaska-republicans-vote-to-censure-mcconnell/

    • Another fossil that plans on leaving feet first like McCain, Kennedy, Grassely, Pelosi, Schumer, and Feinstein. What did Twain say about changing politicians and diapers?

  41. I do not understand the issue with drop boxes. It is easily solved. Pick them up. We did. Texas redistributed so called drop boxes. They are in specified places, guarded and watched, have open and closing times…. We had a problem several years ago but apparently solved it.

What is the issue with drop boxes? Am I missing something?

    • Just A Citizen says:

One more link in a chain. The more the links the greater the number of potential weak spots. Basic tactical understanding.

  42. My book review of Michael Fanone’s “Hold the Line” on FB this morning. Enjoy … I’ll even filter out some of the nasty cuss words I prefer.

“I finished reading Michael Fanone’s, Hold the Line, this morning while waiting to be tortured by my dentist. There’s no way to validate some of his personal history, although I suspect it’s mostly legitimate for the simple reason his cynics and critics could easily expose him IF they had counter FACTS. They don’t, so I tend to believe him because of his admission of being overzealous regarding his early years as a police officer. He was an anxious cop eager to serve and protect but with a bit too much adrenaline and not enough critical thinking. He claims fellow officers with more experience helped him become a more compassionate cop. He served for twenty years in one of the toughest/most dangerous areas of D.C. Again, one has to (or not) take him for his word on his police career, although there is a lot there to verify his efforts and performance. “Fanone participated in more than 2,000 arrests for violent crimes and narcotics trafficking; served as a special task force officer for the FBI, ATF, and DEA; and earned more than 3 dozen commendations for his work.”

As a cop, Fanone, like most police, fell for Trump’s bullshit about supporting the police. Unfortunately, many still do assume Trump and the Republican Party support them because of stupid shit like Trump telling a group of Long Island cops “don’t be so nice” when you help them in the back of a police car (i.e., bang their heads on the roof). One has to wonder if those who applaud that kind of police behavior have a fucking clue what they are supporting.

Fanone claims he was a single issue voter and I believe him. Like most police, he voted for Trump in 2016. The “law and order” President proved his mettle on January 6, 2021, when more than 100 police personnel were injured (many, like Fanone, severely). One can only imagine the frustration he and other police who were beaten by the MAGA crowd experienced when Republicans downplayed their injuries and the assault on the Capitol itself. Calling it a “tourists gone wild” affair, or claiming it was “legitimate political discourse” might be ludicrous and/or funny to you or I, but to those officers who went through the assault (i.e., having suffered a heart attack as Fanone did after having the shit beat out of him, and having to plead to the MAGA morons beating him that he “has kids”) there was nothing funny about it.

Fanone was clever enough to bring a pocket recorder with him when meeting with spineless politicians like Kevin McCarthy, Lindsey Graham, and/or police union reps who continued to support Trump even after their own membership was brutalized by the MAGA crowds. There is no disputing what he recorded (unless, of course, you’re a MAGA moron and refuse to acknowledge truths).

What I found most interesting about his book were the recommendations he made at the end for what needs to be done about and for police nationwide. Rather than individual states and/or jurisdictions deciding on police procedures, including training, Fanone recommended what I suspect is the ONLY answer to some of the issues between the police and those they are paid to protect and serve, which is nationalized standards of operating procedures (i.e., something standardized by the federal government across all 50 states, as well as funded by the federal government). I know it’ll never happen, but until it does, I suspect nothing much will change.

Fanone was self-deprecating in the book and his take on “Defund the Police” was accurate. My wife and I have had this argument a few times and she and Fanone were and are right. When one looks behind the policies of defund the police there are some good proposals in it, but the slogan itself has been used like a battering ram by Republicans against Democrats. Republicans only want to protect the rights of the police against brutality claims, thus making their treatment of civilians worse … and making the relationship between community and police a LOT worse (unless, of course, you live in a wealthy white neighborhood).

It’s a brief read, but I enjoyed getting a cop’s perspective. He was off duty when he received emergency calls for officers requesting assistance at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. He and his partner responded and he was nearly killed for his effort. His partner was beaten pretty badly also, but was the one who eventually pulled him back from the crowd that was beating him with Trump flag poles, pipes, fists, bear spray and a taser.

The greatest shame, aside from the FACT that the “law and order” President and his spineless party were DIRECTLY responsible for the January 6 assaults on the Capitol and the Capitol police, remains the fact that some of his former colleagues in law enforcement took the bait offered by Republicans and found fault with Fanone for speaking out and ignoring the Blue Wall of Silence. They claim he was an attention seeker. The man spent 20 years in law enforcement, dealing with undercover drug enforcement, etc. I say he’s entitled to speak his mind. He’s earned the right to speak his mind. The police union in DC and others on the political side of policing preferred he keep his mouth shut and move on (as too many others did). When the Republican Congress refused to acknowledge Fanone and his fellow officers who defended the Capitol and their chickenshit asses, he felt it was more evidence of how most politicians couldn’t care less about the police or anybody else. Fanone isn’t a democrat today. He knows the Dems aren’t guilt free and mentions it in the book. I suspect he’s an independent, which is probably best, because neither party seems to care much about anything other than the power they get to wield. I also suspect, like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, Fanone will vote against the election deniers who nearly had him killed on January 6, 2021.

Remaining silent is law enforcement’s version of Omerta. I was glad to see how Fanone mentioned Frank Serpico at one point toward the end of the book and how Serpico was also vilified (and nearly killed by the inaction of his fellow cops). It puts the book in perspective for me. There are police, like Fanone, who seek to do their jobs without allowing their egos to rule the day. They treat those who they come in contact with day-to-day, whether via an arrest or an investigation, like fellow human beings and NOT the enemy. When Fanone mentioned the hardships some in poor communities (where he mostly served) were devastated by a simple traffic ticket they couldn’t afford (a ticket they might’ve received because police were meeting quotas), I read the kind of compassion that has to go a long way when dealing with poor and/or dangerous communities. He mentioned the “us against them” mentality that has to change. I agree.

But for cops like Fanone to work in policing environments with police who can’t imagine their egos being bruised, it has to be more than frustrating. I don’t think there’s a way to farm out those with fragile egos, but unless there is a national standard by which police are required to perform their duties, for their sake as well as the public, I doubt much can be solved as regards police relations with the communities they are paid to serve and protect.

For the simple FACT Fanone realized how full of shit Donald Trump and most of the Republicans have been regarding their bogus support for the police, PLUS the fact he DID NOT keep his mouth shut when expected (and ordered) to by fellow police, some in police leadership, and the police union, he is indeed a hero. Staying silent is what cowards do. Speaking truth to power is what true heroes do. His fellow police who treated him like a pariah before he retired by using schoolyard tactics like isolating him in their work environment (walking away when he approached, turning their backs, etc.), shame on them. They’re assholes … and the kind of assholes who shouldn’t wear a badge, never mind carry a gun.

For those who stood by Fanone, big ups to them for not caving.

Fanone wants people to know the true story of January 6, 2021, and what he and his fellow police faced that day. He acknowledges all of them throughout the book and at the end of the book, he LISTS every single officer attacked at the Capitol that day. Support the guy if you can. He did the right thing on January 6, 2021 … it’s the “law and order” former President, a man I used to call “shit for brains,” who caused it.

I now call Donald Trump a few other things … including the Orange Jesus, a S_____g Piece of Shit, a Dumb F__k, etc. ..

  43. One for yous … unbelievable, but true … as in a FACT.
The idiot panels of CNN … and the pathetic so-called “progressives” … great timing, guys … 🙂

  44. For posterity 🙂 I’d like to add that she addressed this group as the Indivisibles. Isn’t that special?

Former secretary of state Hillary Clinton claimed Republicans are out to steal the 2024 presidential election in a video posted to Twitter.

“I know we’re all focused on the 2022 midterm elections, and they are incredibly important, but we also have to look ahead because, you know what, our opponents certainly are,” Clinton said in the video. “Right-wing extremists already have a plan to literally steal the next presidential election, and they’re not making a secret of it.”

The former Democratic presidential candidate added that the “right-wing controlled Supreme Court may be poised to rule on giving state legislatures the power to overturn presidential elections.”

    • As much as I HATE to admit Hillary Clinton is right about anything, she’s right about this.

      • So, now, you are on the side that the election in 2024 will be stolen?

        • You tell me, Colonel. Kari Lake has already said she wouldn’t certify an “illegal” election. Who gets to determine that? They were dead wrong about Arizona being a fraudulent election (their own Republicans audited it separately from the government and came up with the same result). What if a Democrat wins Arizona in the Presidential and Kari Lake refuses to certify it. You okay with that? I mean, it is a state determination, right? TOTAL BULLSHIT.

          • You cannot have it both ways, Charlie. You cannot criticize the Republicans claims and then agree with the Democrats claims about stolen elections before they happen. This is ludicrous, my friend…….Stacy Adams is yours, no? She still, like Trump, claims her election was stolen and still does not agree with it….This whole thing is bull shit on both sides……FIX IT from the States. If the legislature wants to rig elections, it is up to the people to stop it. Vote the bastards out and secure the voting areas.

Drop boxes are bullshit….they should not exist and all this crap filled hate about not having them hurts the minority areas….is smoke filled coffee house crap. When something does not work, just throw the racists mantra at it….it is time to stand up to this racist rhetoric and call it out….just like the left likes to claim “white privilege” and systemic racism……time worn excuses like “it’s in the mail.”

Boxes being transported in the middle of the night in trunks of cars…suddenly discovering boxes under a table or in a closet…..and now, just recently, a burned truck with mail in ballots in a red rural area….how easy would it be to blame conspiracy on this one.

So, no one gets to claim stolen elections. Not on the Republican side and not on the Dem side. It is a fact that there are inconsistencies out there on voting. It is a fact that there is intimidation out there. It is up to the people to stop it. As I said, Texas finally had enough. we revamped our elections and the left screamed that our new election laws isolated the black and Hispanic vote….when record numbers turned out. We require a picture ID and the courts tried to stop us…..we did it anyway. We changed the procedure of the requirements for mail in ballots and absentee voting and the courts tried to stop us….we did it anyway. The states are going to have to take care of themselves and not appointed Federal Judges 2, 000 miles away that are not even residents of the State.

The only area of our election laws that I disagree with is the gerrymandering. THAT, I think is asinine. Redrawing lines around population areas to guarantee elections on the basis of race is just flat wrong. I will never agree with gerrymandering……but, we are still working on that one.

So all this hoopla about stealing elections is political theater. Especially when someone like Hilary Clinton brings it up. She lost….Trump lost…..that is a fact.
            ======================================

            • “You cannot have it both ways, Charlie. You cannot criticize the Republicans claims and then agree with the Democrats claims about stolen elections before they happen. This is ludicrous, my friend…….Stacy Adams is yours, no?:

Nice try, Colonel. If the Republican Governor (to be?) claims she won’t certify an election, what part of that isn’t stealing it before the election?

And No, I’m a socialist, not a centrist Democrat who gives a shit about Stacy Abrams.

            • In “other words” Colonel … if the Dems win, it’s voter fraud. If the Republicans win, it’s clean as a whistle. 🙂

              • Nope…and you know I do not believe that…I am calling out both sides on election fraud and trying to say that it can be stopped…..the people can do this but you better be ready for a fight.

                • The ONLY thing that will change over the next few election cycles is this: If there’s a Red Wave, goodbye democratic voting. If the Dems win, goodbye world (WWIII).

        • Remember the predictions that there would be a massive shift in the voting results once they started to count the absentee ballots? Repubs were well ahead and then the pause followed by a huge swing to the left. We heard the same thing in SoCal in the 2018 election. In traditional red districts, the Repub was well ahead at midnight but was behind by morning. The counting went on for weeks. And this is with all the machines to assist in the counting unlike the old days when it was all counted by hand.

Strange how Florida counted the absentees first so did not have this problem and was through counting in a few short hours.

    • The state legislatures already have full power: “Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.” Article II Section 1

      • Are you seriously trying to claim the votes within the state (popular vote) doesn’t count? 🙂

        • I am saying very simply that the legislatures, not the governors, not the courts, not the SOS’s, not the Feds, not you make the rules.

          • That’s fine, T. But if those who have to certify an election choose not to do so, welcome fascism.

            • Just A Citizen says:

You really don’t seem to know what that word means.

Did not Kari Lake say she would not certify an “illegal” result??

So how are you twisting that into she won’t certify any Democrat win?

And to the Colonel’s point, the AZ legislature could write the law that simply by passes the Gov’s certification.

              • “So how are you twisting that into she won’t certify any Democrat win?”

You’re joking, right? This lunatic still clings to election fraud in her state where 3 audits were conducted and every single challenge in court was tossed. The Colonel’s point is BS if the state legislature holds a MAGA majority. Tell me, guys, do you hang your posters of Mussolini in the kitchen or the bedrooms? 🙂

                • Neither place, really….do not have a Mussolini portrait, but if you send me one of yours. I will hang it…..not the kitchen, though….nor the bedroom, how blase’….but I will hang it in the latrine down here on the border. That would probably work to our benefit. Get ’em in and out quick.

            • Just A Citizen says:

So let’s look at Kari Lakes actual words.

              https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/21/politics/kari-lake-arizona-accept-election-results/index.html

Really not sure why this is so awful. As for not certifying Biden’s win you have to put yourself in the Gov’s shoes at the time of certification. All the supposed “evidence” that the AZ election was above board was not “evident” at that time.

I again go to the legislated timelines as a major issue here. Those due dates prescribed by the Constitution and/or Congress do not allow a true vetting of election issues. Evidence, see two major decisions by the Courts just this year acknowledging “illegal” changes to the voting methods. These issues were raised by the Trump campaign before certification occurred. The lower courts tossed them out and then the Dem/MSM claimed because of this there was no evidence. Yet different lawsuits ON THE SAME ISSUE proved otherwise. There is no mechanism, even at State levels to address a fraudulent election outcome once the wrong person has been seated.

Out of the clouds one day came the “fact” that the movie 2,000 Mules was bullshit!

Notice how it has caught on.

Scientific “Proof” or is it “Poof” has been used to discredit it.

Bottom line is, and will be, in the history books: election rules were illegally changed by the Executive and Judicial branches in various states where there was an “emergency” which violated the state constitutions which give only the “legislature” which represents the people at the basic level the right to make those changes. There can be no argument about this. Would the results have been different? Did those changes present an opportunity to do some creative accounting? We will never know since the courts, on their usual effing high horse refuse to let things go forward.

And, another thing! The Covid lock downs were started about 16 March 2020,. Within a month, we knew they would be long lasting. Nobody, nowhere, nohow thought that there was time to legally change the rules rather than leaving it to Judges and Governors who lacked the authority to do what they ultimately did? By fall of 2020, probably half the country was under video surveillance with the “ring” phenomena, and somehow there was little to none at drop boxes? Who thought of NOT doing that and let us see just for the hell of it, the break down of surveillance on those boxes in red vs blue communities.

  48. Col., Fact check please: “We’ve already seen a stemming of the tide of people” Kathy Hochul

    • If you are talking about the border….there is no stemming of any tide….In my area of the border (Del Rio to Presidio) we have seen a 64% increase over last year and since we have drones and better cameras now, we estimate over 700,000 “got aways” in my area alone in the last 9 months.

No, the border is wide open and now we have a problem of two cartels fighting each other for control on the Mexican side. They are killing immigrants by the hundreds….and no one gives a shit.

      • Thank you.

        • Also,, for your knowledge….I may have mentioned this, but we are capturing numerous Chinese made weapons…as well as a Chinese Military drone used by the cartels.

          • Are they flying drugs in using drones?

          • Here is a list from my area… (2) QJB-191 – 5.8 mm light support weapon (LSW), (1) QJS-161 – 5.8 mm light machine gun (LMG), (7) QJY-201 – 7.62 mm general-purpose machine gun (GPMG), (11) QBB-95 – 5.8 mm light support weapon (LSW), (11) QSZ-92 – 9 mm and 5.8 mm pistol, (6) QSW-06 – 5.8 mm silenced pistol, (23) Type 84 – 7.62 mm small pistol for security and police forces (in service).

These were captured in the last 11 months….in my area alone.

Hey Charlie. I saw where you were calling for Federal standards for Policing. As a solution to some problem. Thought you might be interested in some facts on the issue. Oh, this is not the first such order from a POTUS or Congress regarding “standards”.

    https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/department-justice-announces-standards-certifying-safe-policing-practices-law-enforcement

P.S. For those of us who prefer a Republican form of govt. I just want to point out this is one of the many ways the Federal Govt. has wormed its’ way into controlling local decisions. Another is the “certification” of colleges and universities.

    • Wanna bet some coin on whether or not a national police policy is put into law (and/or adhered to). The executive order will be ignored across all 50 states. Certifying safe police practices does not make it federal policy (executive order or not).

      • Just A Citizen says:

That is nothing but your typical biased opinion. Those standards and the certification did in fact occur. It is always ongoing. Every time there is an incident involving a Black person it is politicized and the reviews and certifications begin again. When bad policing occurs and the locals let them off the DOJ steps in with Civil Rights prosecutions. You seem to actually know little about the policing systems.

What this does show is that Standards, regardless of who imposes them (Federal vs. Local) cannot prevent some bad cops or policing to occur. Maybe that is because cops are actually people.

I suppose you are going to call for “Robo Cop” as your next solution.

Reading Mr. Fetterman’s people commenting on the debate last night. Along with several in the MSM, The Hill, Politico, etc. etc.

My Conclusion? There is very little HONOR left in the country. But I guess we shouldn’t expect anything better. Because as the saying goes “There is no Honor among thieves.”

    • Yes, but who is pushing Fetterman? From the news things I have seen, it is clear that the man did not need to be there. Both Fetterman and Biden are being pushed and I think it is cruel.

Empathy stops here. That was my weekly quota.

      • Both Fetterman and Biden … you’re correct, Colonel. Last night was very difficult to watch. Aside from the obvious health issues, when he turned his back on two issues he’s previously been a proponent of (no more fracking/universal healthcare), he lost me. Oz is a snake oil salesman, a much more polished Trump, but he’ll probably win after that fiasco last night. I don’t know how his people allowed him to do that. As for Biden (I call him the zombie), who was shoved down the country’s throat to avoid Sanders, I’m curious as to why you find so much fault with him … he’s been a stout conservative democrat most of his career and only speaks to progressive politics without ever having an intention of pushing them. Think about his past (not just his lies), but what he actually did — all pretty much conservative. His attacks on Anita Hill paving the way for Uncle Thomas … the crime bill … support of the Iraq debacle … attempting to cut medicare and social security … they didn’t nickname him “The Senator from MBNA” for nothing.

        • It is not Biden…he left but only slightly. He is now going to go down in history as the worst POTUS….even over Carter. He is nothing but a puppet and he is clearly not in control of all his faculties. It is sad to watch. He is being used.

    • “There is no Honor among thieves.”

Since when are you so anti-Trump?

      • My friend……can you find where I was ever PRO Trump…..I have always said that I adopted the same philosophy that MIA Mathius always said…..”He would rather vote for an axe murderer than vote for Trump”…..

I feel the same way about the choices…….I would have voted for Charles Manson before Biden…..but that was not an option and since, in my mind, Biden and Jimmy Carter are about the same……I saw what Carter did to the country and the economy, I did not want a repeat…hence Trump.

I DO NOT like his ego.
I DO NOT like his tweets.
I DO NOT like his attitude.

But, I did like his policies (well, most of them)

I still do not like his ego.
Cant say about Twitter…he ain’t there.
I still do not like his attitude…..

But I do like how the world responded to him. Most of them hated him but he did make them toe the line and I do not care if the world likes America or not.

China did not move on him. Russia did not move on him. North Korea did not move on him. He forced countries to pay “their fair share”. He did not start wars. I liked the business model approach. I think he was correct on tax cuts and still do. I think he was correct on the border.

But, I still do not like the man…..he is definitely the lesser of two evils as it stands now.

        • Colonel: I also liked a very few of Trump’s policies (not getting involved in another war, something the Dems seem anxious for) … but he did step up pointless drone strikes, killing far more innocents/civilians than actual enemy combatants (which is even harder since there’s never been a declared war) … I also like other paying their way as regards NATO, but his love of the power he craves in others (Putin, Un, Bolsonaro, MBS, et al) is scary. I have no doubt whatsoever that if Trump had the power to do so, journalists and political enemies would be jailed overnight. He’s a wannabe mob boss and a coward. The tax breaks for the wealthy swelled national debt and created a greater income gap than what existed under Obama (in just 4 years). His appeal to the police to “not treat them so nicely” is him being the coward-bully, but a very anxious to be absolved of brutality charges (and murder) law enforcement community loves that shit. Read the Fanone book if you get a chance. He was also a Trump supporter.

          • ROFLMAO because…. I know what I’m going to say and JAC only has a minor idea. Disclaimer: I clicked onto SUFA , clicked the bottom recent comment, which was JAC, just to get a starting point to start scrolling up to where I left off before work. While scrolling I saw my name and stopped dead in my tracks….so I have no idea at this moment what you two were talking about besides the 2 comments I’m replying to right now. OK?

Let’s just say that I don’t know JAC except for on SUFA, so I don’t know if he has it in his heart to hate anyone…but IF he does…in the top 5 of his list would be Trump (cracking up over here!). He was dead set that Trump would never be elected, as were many here at that time I give JAC great credit since Trump was elected for giving Trump credit where it was due. He even surprised me one time when he actually typed the words “well done Mr Trump”

HOWEVER, what JAC doesn’t know, because I didn’t let him know, was how PISSED OFF I WAS when. soon after Trump left office he asked the question ( with a tone heard ’round SUFA, and I thought maybe a wee bit of help from some bourbon) (ROFL) something to the effect of…Can any Trump fans in the group articulate what Trump ever did that has made a significant change to long term policy, since Mr Biden came in and wiped the slate clean on day one? Boyyyy, I was a pissed off sister that day.

Believe me, Charlie. JAC is no Trump fan.

Does it give you and people like her some kind of comfort to see the world in such overly simplistic and tainted terms? Funny how the “other side” is never listed in these tirades. An endless debate over who started it.

So tell me, when did this crusade against Russia start? Seems to me that Europe and the USA had been kissing Russia’s backside, along with China, ever since the 80’s. A little ironic that when the “conservatives” tried to normalize affairs with Russia the “left” howled about them getting in bed with tyrants and abusers of civil liberties. A little to damned if you do and damned if you don’t for my liking.

      • Does it give you and people like her some kind of comfort to see the world in such overly simplistic and tainted terms? Funny how the “other side” is never listed in these tirades. An endless debate over who started it.

It is simplistic. We support the worst of dictators way more often than not (if we don’t install them directly). And actually she lists most of our illegal endeavors (wars or support for dictators). What other side? The ones that were democratically elected, like Allende in Chile? She’s not a fan of Putin or anyone like him (that’s who we tend to like, certainly Trump did) … she’s simply anti-war and anti-hypocrisy.

So tell me, when did this crusade against Russia start? Seems to me that Europe and the USA had been kissing Russia’s backside, along with China, ever since the 80’s. A little to damned if you do and damned if you don’t for my liking.

I seem to remember the U.S. supporting the mujahedeen, or Islamic insurgents against Russia’s invasion of Afghanistan (they were smarter than us and got out after 10 years) … so you can point to that as a secondary starting point (NATO being the first) … I agree that the left (not my left, JAC, the Democratic left, which is Republican Light at best), howled and were wrong for it. Same goes for Trump’s love affair with North Korea. I didn’t have a problem with it. She’s merely telling it as it is and has been. We most often side with dictators of one sort or another and/or support them. Those are FACTS, no matter which side is hypocritical about it.

        • Just A Citizen says:

          charlie

Yes, we sometimes side with dictators. Often we side with someone we don’t realize is a wannabe dictator. Our foreign entanglements often bit us in the behind.

But all of this slinging of arrows fails to address what a proper role in the world is for a Nation State, let alone one who sits at or near the top of the hierarchy. If the left had their way we would fight wars and support dictators for the sake of stopping poverty or global warming. The right would do the same for economics or halting communism. You are correct, either way leads to destruction for many, economic or physical.

Ironic, to you NATO is the starting point, not Soviet Russia’s invasion of European countries. I don’t think NATO came into existence just to create a “crusade against Russia”. But how about the other side of the current NATO issue?

If you think Cuba or Mexico should be able to ally with anyone they want then why not Ukraine? If we helped start a war by considering Ukraine’s membership would Mexico or Cuba be starting a war if they considered China or Russia??

Don’t get me wrong in all this. I agree that we have often been on the wrong side, or at least guilty of gross hypocrisy. What gets my dander up is this tendency by the supposed anti war crowd to always point at he USA and/or UK, etc. and never the other side. And there is always another side. A freely elected Communist Dictator is still a dictator. And he/she usually causes damage, regardless of how we respond. Furthermore, they are only “freely” elected once.

For the record, I would also oppose Communist or Socialist regimes in our hemisphere. I just wouldn’t have done it in such a ham handed way. Which by the way, we learned from the Soviets, and maybe the English, French and Germans.

          • If the left had their way we would fight wars and support dictators for the sake of stopping poverty or global warming. The right would do the same for economics or halting communism. You are correct, either way leads to destruction for many, economic or physical.

Again, not my left, JAC. The dems, sure. They’re feckless at home and very anxious to feed the war machine (military industrial complex). As I’ve said many times here, Corporations run the show.

Ironic, to you NATO is the starting point, not Soviet Russia’s invasion of European countries. I don’t think NATO came into existence just to create a “crusade against Russia”. But how about the other side of the current NATO issue?

NATO may not have come into existence as regards a crusade against Russia (just a defense mechanism), but … that’s EXACTLY what’s going on now. Sec. of Defense says, “We want to weaken Russia.” How do you weaken anyone with 6,000 nukes?

If you think Cuba or Mexico should be able to ally with anyone they want then why not Ukraine? If we helped start a war by considering Ukraine’s membership would Mexico or Cuba be starting a war if they considered China or Russia??

Nation states should do whatever they want. What allows us to economically colonize other nation states is our military (i.e., nukes) … same goes for Russia. Bullies with nukes get to call the shots until they push the wrong bully (one another). I’d have no problem if Mexico or Cuba attached themselves to China. None of our business.

I understand, but Allende was NOT a dictator, no matter how Henry Kissinger tried to portray him. He was LOVED by his people (those who elected him). The other side is also guilty (see above), but right now it’s us pushing wars we can’t win. 94% of our existence at war should tell us something, no?

For the record, I would also oppose Communist or Socialist regimes in our hemisphere. I just wouldn’t have done it in such a ham handed way. Which by the way, we learned from the Soviets, and maybe the English, French and Germans.

I don’t think we have right to decide any nation state’s choice of government, economic system or military. When Trump suggested Japan might want to build its own nuclear arsenal, I thought why not? Same goes for Iran and nukes. Who are we or Israel to tell them what they can build, etc. Answer: We’re bullies (as is Israel) with nukes.

            • Just A Citizen says:

On your last point. So we have a situation where a bully invades another country and we are supposed to sit back because he has nukes. So if we do anything meaningful it is Armageddon. In short, the crazy guy with nukes is blackmailing the Civilized World.

But you are OK with Iran and anyone else getting nukes because, “who are we to decide?”

Do see see the problem with that position? Play it out in the long run.

One other thing. It was not our nukes or even military power that allowed us to dominate economically, or colonize as you say. It was that we were the only industrial power standing untouched after WW II. It was our economics that provided the power. Without it there would be no military capable of anything.

              • In short, the crazy guy with nukes is blackmailing the Civilized World.

Unfortunately, I think that’s the reality. How do you call his bluff without risking everything? They didn’t stop us from invading Afghanistan or Iraq … or our never ending drone strikes on 7 Muslim countries that never did a thing to us. Why not? It wasn’t worth the risk to them. It sucks, but those nukes are the game changer both the US & Russia get to muscle people with.

But you are OK with Iran and anyone else getting nukes because, “who are we to decide?”

Because at least for the near future, they aren’t a real threat. If they had a dozen or two dozen nukes tomorrow, who are they going to nuke? Israel likely will attack (again) sooner than later and they’d be wrong (and I doubt they use nukes).

Do see see the problem with that position? Play it out in the long run.

In the long run it sucks, but I fear it’s the end result long or short term. Man, in general, isn’t intelligent enough to keep those things on the shelf. Sooner or later, somebody will use one and we can only hope the reaction isn’t nuclear war. I do see your point, however … but how do you stop them short term? What can America do in Ukraine or anywhere else Russia stakes a claim without risking nuclear war? The macho nonsense is just that, nonsense.

One other thing. It was not our nukes or even military power that allowed us to dominate economically, or colonize as you say. It was that we were the only industrial power standing untouched after WW II. It was our economics that provided the power. Without it there would be no military capable of anything.

Absolutely (and why I’ll never allow someone to say “we won WWII on our own”) because much of Europe & Russia were devastated … except for Pearl Harbor in the Pacific, we were unscathed at home (geographically). Once we used a nuke (2), the world understood our power. Russia couldn’t get one fast enough and we’re all damn lucky Hitler never had one. He would’ve no doubt used them to win.

            • I agree, but then how to you marry that to what are supposed to be American values? Both parties are guilty of it.

              • Just A Citizen says:

That is the REAL QUESTION now, isn’t it?

One possible answer is that American Values apply only to Americans living in America. Look at it this way. If you are a prize fighter who adheres to Marcus of Queensbury rules in the ring, but then get cornered in the streets by some thug, do you stick with your fighting methods or are you going to get down and fight a street fight in order to win?

I can point you to THE thing that has created this conundrum. Our foreign policy has mostly been aimed at “protecting America’s interests”. I posted a video here some years back of this doctrine being taught at the Naval Academy. I believe this is simply to general a statement from which to build any kind of consistent policy. For a long time the criteria was “defense of our country” which included protection of our ships and shipping lanes.

People have forgotten that the US involvement in Central and South America was driven by a new age response to the perceived threat of Germany in our hemisphere.

One simple fix would be for Congress to take back all war powers. Eliminate this notion that POTUS can dispatch the military around the world based on his or her perception of National Interest. Maybe stop using the military to train other nations in how to combat terrorism or narco cartels. Instead use law enforcement agencies.

              • Just A Citizen says:

                charlie

Another criteria. If your choices are supporting a Communist Dictator or a Capitalist Dictator, choose the Capitalist. America has nothing to gain from a Communist Dictator, in the long run.

This puts aside how Dictator and Capitalist don’t fit together in the first place.

If I were running I wouldn’t directly answer some of their questions either. There is nothing gained as they ask the question in hopes of using the answer against you. Even if it is benign. So you use the question to push your issues or your arguments.

In case some have forgotten, I explained long ago how “media consultants” have trained politicians to do this. That is EX media people coaching politicians and bureaucrats on how to respond to the Press. Then they wonder why they/we don’t get straight answers.

  59. “I wonder if we would get more straight answers from politicians if the media were not so corrupt?”

You left out a few words: “… not so corrupt to the core.” I totally agree. It is shameful. Last night after watching that disastrous debate, I wanted to see how it was spun. MSNBC was unbelievable. At least CNN had 2 Republicans (they like, because the R’s hate Trump) who offered very sympathetic calls, but accurate ones (i.e., Fetterman has no business running right now) … and I like him, but last night made it clear he needs to get a lot more healthy before he runs for anything.

A good short course on why Govt. seems to fail so often these days. I have pointed this out before. Mission creep created by the Executive is deadly to the original mission, created by Congress. The Courts add their layer of BS as well.

  61. Democrats who run the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) have blocked a freshman Latina Republican lawmaker from joining the group.

Mayra Flores, who flipped a long-held Democratic House seat along the U.S.-Mexico border earlier this year, said she was refused admission by the CHC because of her party affiliation.

“As the first Mexican-born American Congresswoman, I thought the Hispanic Caucus would be open to working together,” said Flores. “This denial once again proves a bias towards conservative Latinas that don’t fit their narrative or ideology.”
The CHC has defended its decision by saying the organization is for Democrats only and that Flores holds “extreme” views at odds with its mission.”The party of ‘inclusion’ does it again,” Flores said in reaction.

    • So, If the Republicans take the House, then the leadership of this committee changes hands……to a party of One…….She should just dismantle the Congressional Hispanic Caucus….be done with it, start a new one, and reshape it for Republicans only?

  63. Charlie, I have an assignment for you (should you decide to accept). There is an education project that is called Project Business that will be hosting a three day seminar on the different types of government in the world and it is to be presented in a debate style format for junior high school students. It is going to be presented from the different political strata in the world. Communist, Socialist, Capitalist, and free market. I volunteered to chair one of these…..not thinking I would be selected. Well, I have been asked to present the “Socialist” and one of the prerequisites was that I have to be forthcoming and actually present the socialist viewpoint ranging from Business, Social, Family, and Political standpoints.

This will take place in December before Christmas break. I am doing research now but I cannot find any country anywhere that represents what your definition is….so, I would like you (if you will) to help me present a socialist point of view. This has to be a Socialist point of view and not a progressive no leftist point of view but pure Socialist. Therefore, since you claim to be an avowed Socialist, will you help me with this? Mind you, this will be a tough test for me……but I am very capable of presenting this side in an aggressive manner.

    • I can view the scenario in a variety of ways, so if you agree, I would like to ask you specific questions on how you view the way things should be.

      • Here is an example: A definition of Socialism is thus I copied from the internet when I asked it to define Socialism.

A simple socialism definition would be where a government or group provides everything to the people or workers. You can think of this as everything being owned by the public. It’s also called common ownership. So, the government, rather than corporations, regulates everything from your wage to healthcare.

I would ask you questions along these lines.

        • Accepted, as long as you understand it is Stella’s Socialism and not something defined by anyone else … and most importantly, like any form of government seeking to curtail corruption (because corruption does and will exist in any form of government), Stella’s Socialism requires a viable, INDEPENDENT, media unbeholden to corporate coin and/or distribution. Under those conditions, I’d give you my $.02 …

        • Just A Citizen says:

          Colonel

That is a lousy definition. If you are going to do this then use a REAL one.

The following has been THE definition for a very long time.

          noun

          1.
a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole:

In order to defend this you will have to defend it against all the other “forms” of socialism because “true” socialism hasn’t happened yet. Charlie is correct in that this point can anticipated as well.

If I am on the other side I would point out that Socialism, as defined above, has a serious flaw built in. Namely “how does the community OWN the means of production, distribution, property, etc.????

What is the mechanism for adding new people onto the DEED when they are born? Who exercises their property rights while they are still minors? I think you get the gist.

Man, didn’t you learn in the Army not to volunteer?

          • I have several definitions of socialism…7 all told. I am trying to reconcile what socialism actually is and no one seems to know. All of the definitions point to one main thing…..there is no private ownership. The state owns and runs everything. The state decides how much food and the type of food that is available. The state owns and runs the electrical grids, farms, production, and media. I will read through all of them again. I just finished the Socialist Manifesto…..

I have to try to make arguments for this type of control…..and I will make the arguments that are presented.

As far as volunteering…….**sigh** You would think that I learned.

            • Just A Citizen says:

              Colonel

There is only ONE TRUE DEFINTION. The reason you find so many others is because of the very question I offered. Public ownership is not practical so Govt winds up being the surrogate or “Representative” of the “people”. That and people who write about these things often rely on real world applications.

As you build your arguments you should look to the “reason” Socialism even exists as a concept. Charlie is very close to the original purpose. For the people to share in the fruits of all economic activity, production, transportation, etc.

          • Good questions to build into the rebuttal. Thanks, JAC. Colonel, I’ve been putting something together a small bit at a time. Do you want the come-backs or just the proposal (so JAC et al) can rip at it without you defending it? I smell a set-up. 🙂

          • I am on the other side I would point out that Socialism, as defined above, has a serious flaw built in. Namely “how does the community OWN the means of production, distribution, property, etc.????

The same way the community owns the Green Bay Packers, except there is no board of directors and everyone has an equal say in management. Because there is no private property in my socialist state, it isn’t a concern. It smells of chaos and bureaucracy but is preferable to having ONLY those of wealth making decisions that will benefit the private owner ahead of his workers. For example, my beloved New York State Buffalo Bills want a new stadium? Well, put it to the community that will be paying for it, since the OWNER of the team won’t be forking over his or her coin for it. First off, it’s an unnecessary expense to the city because the Bills stadium right now is fine. Secondly, why would the OWNER still assume profits from ticket sales or leasing for a stadium he didn’t pay for?

“Under their 30-year lease with New York State and Erie County for construction of the new stadium, the Bills will get a record $850 million from public taxpayers, as well as $250 million from Erie County, in addition to the $600 million state funds.

“The state will also pay almost $7 million a year for 15 years in maintenance costs and contribute $6 million a year for the full 30 years to a capital improvement fund. Yet the $6 million a year Highmark Health pays for the Bills’ current stadium to carry its name — that all goes to the Pegulas.” (the OWNERS)

“… that all goes to the Pegulas.” … TOTAL AND ABSOLUTE THIEVARY.

            • Just A Citizen says:

              Charlie

The Packers are a “Corporation” and issue shares of stock. There are a little over 300,000 current “owners”. So not even everyone in Green Bay is an owner. Ownership is limited to Stock Purchases and there is a limited amount of Stock.

The Packers do not have a Board of Directors, but they have a 7 member Executive Committee.

And there is this: “Shareholders don’t get any financial benefit since their shares can’t appreciate, there isn’t a dividend, and they can’t be traded. There isn’t any input from shareholders on team operations either. Also, ownership is capped at 200 shares per individual.”

Not sure this is your best available answer to how The Public gains not only ownership but control and profit sharing.

              • It is if you change the rules, JAC. 🙂 Doesn’t America “change the rules” at every opportunity to bolster corporations and shit on workers? And why do corporations always turn to socialism when they find themselves in trouble?

            • Just A Citizen says:
  64. Media also seems like a great place to start. (Others can opine, but we are not here to argue on this assignment). So, who owns the media, in your world.

    • And, since this is Texas, I KNOW the question will come up about gun ownership. In your world, would there be private ownership of weapons?
      Handguns? Rifles? Shotguns?
Allow me to breakdown rifles into two categories….Deer rifles vs semi auto rifles.

      • I have ZERO problem with gun ownership (minus the semi-auto rifles). Everything else is fine, except the hording of same. 2 each to a customer (rifle and handguns). Collectors can keep their collections in a locked environment. I’m sure there would be loopholes to deal with in all such scenarios but those are generalizations. I know the disarming of citizens was/is a tactic by authoritarians, but history shows us that without the military joining a revolt, there’s not much of a revolt (i.e., it gets squashed). We’d also have to take the risk that an independent journalism would keep authoritarians in check.

    • Corporations own the media, Colonel. They keep everyone left or right of the establishment positions for both parties on the margins (i.e., youtube, etc.) AND since they own YouTube as well, they can and do disappear dissent at every opportunity.

            • Actually, I don’t think that’s worked out for them … goddamn deep state. 🙂

I can only hope some genuine patriot takes Mr. Trump out because he really is the most responsible for all this bullshit from the right (armed morons sitting outside ballot boxes, etc.), January 6, the imbecile who attacked an FBI office in Cincinnati (don’t have to worry about that warrior anymore), etc. MAGA, speeding the plow to the end of empire.

Perfect example of what is WRONG with our laws and their enforcement.

    Politico reported:

Police have taken DePape into custody and said he will be booked for attempted homicide, burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with serious bodily injury, elder abuse, infliction of great bodily injury on the elderly, dissuading a victim, threatening a family member of a public official, and damaging or preventing a communication for an emergency call.

This guy committed TWO crimes. Trespassing and Assault & Battery. Easy to prove and should result in many, many years in prison given the damage to the victim.

Are they going to claim burglary because he grabbed the Pelosi’s hammer away from him to inflict the beating? I think we all know that the “elder abuse” laws were enacted for entirely different reasons. Those reasons should be considered by prosecutors when they do the “piling on” trick. My patience with Govt. lawyers is running very low this AM.

Well, that is demonstrably FALSE. Easily proven by just looking at those two along with all the others elected to Congress.

    • It has become a button pushing issue these days. Each party wants a body to push a button for a vote they want. That’s it. Walker or Fetterman, if they can push a button (the one they’re told to push), they can be Senators. That’s America today.

  69. https://michaelshellenberger.substack.com/p/pelosi-attack-suspect-was-a-psychotic

Also read he was in his underwear when he was arrested. People who try to kill people are nuts. People who are nuts find excuses for doing what they want to do. Politics, is just one excuse some use.

    • He’s definitely nuts, but … he’s also been ginned up by all the Trump and Qanon bullshit. He found a cause and he acted. Trump and MAGA aren’t doing the country any favors spewing non-stop bullshit. This is how it turns out. It won’t be the last of them. I think we all know that.

  70. There was an incident in TX in the ’80s that triggered an industry wide review of HF alkylation units. A crane dropped a pipe on a 6″ line in a Marathon refinery. The line ruptured and shot HF straight up. A cloud formed (HF grabs whatever moisture is in the air to from a dense heavy aerosol cloud) which went over the neighboring AMOCO refinery and then settled down to ground level before moving into town. It etched glass up to a mile way meaning the levels were above 1% and were deadly. No one died but had there been a high body count Marathon would have gone the way of Union Carbide after Bhopal, i.e., into non-existence.

I was asked to sit in on engineering meetings at Exxon were the incident was being reviewed because of my expertise in airborne chemical detection technology. I remember hearing analysis of the failure rate of various components in the plant. Valves, flanges, etc. were given failure rates of 1 part in a million. I remember thinking about the Challenger and that one cannot compute overall failure probability by summing up individual probabilities. Case in point, the Marathon release was due to a crane accident.

We then watched a video of spills at China Lake conducted by AMOCO who proposed the water curtain mitigation technique. The spills were absolutely scary. The water mitigation did not work, being only about 50% effective.

Later I went to AMOCO head quarters and gave a presentation on how to detect an HF release spectroscopically using laser fence line monitors.

These plants should be shut down especially if they are located in urban areas. The potential for a massive human disaster exists. If such a disaster occurs in a western country, no amount of insurance will save the company from bankruptcy.

    • “no amount of insurance will save the company from bankruptcy.”

Is that really what concerns you, T-man?

      • Your mind is absolutely warped. Of course not. It is just that I question the company logic on risking the entire company on a process that does not need to be used. There are alternatives especially in the last few years. I also question the engineering theory that says if all the risks of failure of individual components is low, then the total risk is acceptable. Unexpected shit happens and the law or averages soon catches up.

      • S Kent Troy says:

Boy, you missed the point completely!

        • SK, chirping in after the fact. 🙂 The bottom line is insurance and bankruptcy never should be mentioned … and isn’t it convenient how corporations can claim bankruptcy and are off the hook? Tell me T-man, do you know about the Chevron fiasco? Do you the extremes of this case? “Steven Donziger, the environmental and human rights lawyer who won a $9.5 billion settlement against Chevron over oil dumped in Indigenous lands in the Amazon rainforest, surrendered himself to the federal authorities on Wednesday to begin a six-month prison sentence.” Do you know the story behind this? That’s what I mean by corporations run the system. SK, chirp in when you get a chance. 🙂

          • S Kent Troy says:

Still missing the point. The company would have gone Ka-Boom and been toast regardless of ANY attempts, insurance or otherwise to save it. Moral of the story, is to pay attention to what you are doing, mitigate risks and in some cases, do not even attempt it.

            • Not missing the point at all. Whatever happened to the “risk” associated with capitalism? Why aren’t corporations that fail (whatever the reason) held accountable? Why are we remotely concerned with bankruptcy in a country that screams pull up your bootstraps as if means something? If a company makes a bad decision, it’s on them … unless it’s got an inside track (bankruptcy) to bail itself out. So, don’t attempt it … but they did. Why should they have the bankruptcy option? See Wall Street … no matter what they did to sink the worldwide economy in 2008, they were rewarded for it with RECORD BONUSES on their way out (thank you, Obama) …

  71. Anita, no joy in Mudville tonight.

  72. S Kent Troy says:

Saw another stupid piece today on a tour of relevant sites of the 1863 NYC draft riots where immigrants, mostly Irish, led the hunting down of blacks over their being the perceived cause of a Civil War in which these new immigrants where about to become cannon fodder.

This is part of our history, it is not part of our present anymore than the oppression the Irish faced or the Italians or anyone else. The people leading those riots are long DEAD. They are paying for their sins.

The attempt of the tour, to make some kind of comparison to today is just plain silly. We have heard nothing but RACE, RACE, RACE when we were not hearing, RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA in the past couple of decades. In both instances it seems some kind of psychotic and sick attempt by many to relive the past. Perhaps they miss it or perhaps, in the case of race hustlers, they missed the boat, being not yet born, in the late 1950’s and 1960’s and cannot feel fulfilled without somehow pretending that nothing has changed and they are part of the “struggle”. What an incredible insult to those who were in the front lines then at the cost of their lives in more than a few cases.

“Bury the past”? NEVER, but use it as an instruction manual on what can go wrong and how to avoid the same mistakes. Both Race and Russia are issues today because we chose to make them issues which is sad and just plain dumb.

Remember, there is not a single 1863 insurrectionist alive today, nor are their children or grandchildren. Stop living in the past and start learning from the past.

  73. I was a bookmaker for a while and it stopped me from betting myself. I haven’t placed a bet in a very long time (at least 30 years) … but IF I was going to bet today, it’d be on the Bills laying the 10.5 … they will win by 20 or more.

I know, famous last words … especially from a Bills fan. 🙂

    • I don’t know about 20 or more but you’d have a safe bet considering the Packers’ history in Buffalo. 🙂

      • Anita, my love, we blew it. Josh threw 2 picks in the 2nd half and condemned us to a 10 point win. When you’re laying 10.5, that might as well be a loss.

        • Bah, winning ugly is still winning. I’m too cheap to bet. I bought exactly one lottery ticket in the last 20 years, didn’t win 10 cents, and I won’t buy one for another 20

Articles galore attacking Republican ads which feature Nancy Pelosi as the devil, or what ever. These ads need to go they say.

Meanwhile, later in the day while watching football I was forced to watch Democrat Party attack ads against the nice lady running for Senate in Washington. These ads were very dark and negative and linked the nice R lady to that evil bastard Mitch McConnell who, according to the ad, is going to pass a Federal law banning abortions. A vote for Smiley is a vote for Trump and McConnell and the evil they are going to do to the country in general and women in particular. By the way, Smiley has said from day one she will NOT SUPPORT a Federal Law either legalizing or abolishing abortion. One went to Fox, the other to ussanews.com – looks to be a small conservative site – a stark difference in reporting between the two. Fox is still trying to sweep these reports under the rug. They boxed themselves in by calling AZ for Biden so early. Now they have to stay in denial mode.

Good point about ‘that’s why they keep doing it’. Its taking way too long, but I feel more vindicated each day.

  78. There are 100 people in a community of equals. They believe in equity so all have $100. Then Charlie writes a novel which they all want so each gives Charlie $10 for a copy. Now Charlie has $990 + $100 or $1090 and everyone else as $90. Each voluntarily gave Charlie the $10 for the product he created but it created an inequality and made Charlie rich. So equity demands that $990 be taken from Charlie and redistributed to the 99. Now they are all equal again.

    • What was it you Ayn Rand worshippers always said about taking things by force/violence? Seems like that’s EXACTLY what your people are doing across the country. Showing up with rifles and harassing people at their homes … cowards, punks and morons. USA! USA! 🙂

    • Charlie…..sorry to hear your withdrawal but ok…I’m still going to fight the fight for socialism in the mock debates.

By the way, I watched that 60 minute thing you wanted me to watch. It did not change my mind any….if there was proof, then show it. The fact that they did not bring or submit proof, makes them appear just like Schiff. He had no proof either other than a loud mouth.

The Republican that said he was not going to compromise his morals should be applauded.

      • “The fact that they did not bring or submit proof, makes them appear just like Schiff. He had no proof either other than a loud mouth.”

Here’s the rub, Colonel. Why Schiff? He didn’t have to bring proof. He was part of the investigation. “just like schiff” from you sounds like (to me), you can’t let it go (i.e., that the Republicans crying foul WITHOUT PROOF) are equal to a party hack like Schiff … except Schiff nor anyone on the committee or in Congress has to prove anything. When you make an accusation and you claim to have proof and then don’t deliver … well, you’re full of shit. How does Schiff fit into that equation? And please don’t make me feel like I’m defending Schiff. 🙂

        • Also, you claimed to have watched all the hearings (to shut me up) 🙂 … Rusty Bowers was featured in the hearings … in fact, 99% of those who gave testimony were Republicans who voted for and/or worked for Trump. That deep state must be pretty clever … 🙂

          • Get off your high horse, Charlie… I watched the hearings, except for about 1 hour of it, to learn. I did not do it to shut you up…that is a lost cause. The same lost cause that would shut me up. ain’t gonna happen. All the hoopla still comes down to the final act. It is NOT true until you have an indictment, trial, and conviction. Now I ask you, if I watched the hearings and I have a different conviction than you, does that mean I am MAGA? All it means is….indict, try, and convict. There is no other “out” to take. And, if they elect not to indict, you have already stated that the fix is in. So, either way is not going to make you happy.

Now, as to Schiff….he was on TV MANY. MANY times using the words…I have clear and convincing facts and documents to prove Trump was involved with the Russians in collusion…..none of that has surfaced anywhere. The fact that Guliani and that other woman saying that they have clear proof and “forgot” to bring it or has not produced it…..means they do not have it….at least to me it means that. If you have proof…clear and convincing proof, and not some “whistle blower, or informed source that refuses to be named,….bring it forward and put it on the table. Let’s get this thing on the road or forget it. Quit this dragging shit out and TV grandstanding……..bring it forward, put it before a jury…and finish this thing…..then forget about it.

The Republican that said he was going to stand by his morals and did not follow a party line, like most of the Democrats do, is to be applauded. Glad to see it. No one…..NO ONE…..should walk a party line simply because it is a party line. Walking party lines regardless of your personal feelings is cowardly….has nothing to do with loyalty at all. Have the courage of your convictions and march forward.

            • I’m afraid of horses, Colonel. High or low. I’m a city boy. Used to bet on them, but no longer do (don’t like the way they are treated — you know us bleeding hearts). I appreciate you at least acknowledging that Bowers, et al, the Republicans who didn’t sell their souls to a demon, aren’t deep staters looking to take down the Orange Jesus. I mean, seriously, everyone is lying except the pathological liar? At least I hope you acknowledge that.

“If Nancy were to tell DePape the ‘truth,’ he would let her go, and if she ‘lied,’ he was going to break ‘her kneecaps,’ ” according to the complaint. “DePape was certain that Nancy would not have told the ‘truth.’

“In the course of the interview, DePape articulated he viewed Nancy as the ‘leader of the pack’ of lies told by the Democratic Party,” the complaint said.
