Yet Another Excuse to Attack the 2nd Amendment

not-about-guns-about-controlI know that many of you were expecting that I would be talking about the travesty that occurred Saturday night in the House of Representatives. Fear not, I am going to tackle that, but not tonight. I want to finish reading the bill that passed before I begin commenting on it. I will say I am very disappointed that it passed, and thus far I am under the impression that the Democrats in Congress are interested in passing a health insurance reform bill, but have no concern with whether it will actually be a good bill or an effective bill. But enough for tonight, I am hoping to make the newly passed bill the topic tomorrow night. For tonight I offer some thoughts from over there at the Huffington Post. It seems that the tragic events at Fort Hood have become yet another excuse for those on the far left to clamor about taking people’s guns away yet again. I will offer you all the opportunity to read what this particular person had to say, and then weigh in with my own thoughts…

Foreign Policy Needs a New Policy

Blame America TourI am going to do my best to answer several of the positions taken on this site by various folks when it comes to our foreign policy. The fact is that our foreign policy in America is drastically flawed. Unfortunately so are some of the positions that have been espoused on the site when discussing foreign policy. The flaws are many, from taking a interventionist position within the world stage, to using that interventionist policy as a way to excuse away the heinous actions of others, many fail to see the reality of the world as it exists. I feel like I don’t suffer from that lapse in reality. I am not unique, but I am not just another dumb kid when it comes to examining the situation either. What I am is someone who has served this country, both here and abroad. I have seen the world first hand. I have seen the conflicts first hand. I have worked in Washington and seen the intel first hand. And what I offer on this subject is a voice not influenced by a hatred for either side and not rendered blind by a bias that keeps me from seeing the realities we face abroad. But that doesn’t make me right. So everything I say is certainly up for debate.

White House is Proving They are Not Fit to Lead

Boo Hoo PosterWell, I have returned home and can now get back to writing like I am supposed to write! I was out of town all last week and operating from a hotel with spotty internet access. On top of that I was quite busy with work, which had me on a weird schedule working in a different location. But I did enjoy my time there and met quite a few cool folks in Dawsonville, Georgia. I touched on this subject a week or two ago, and I was going to let it rest because when I talked about it them I thought it was nothing more than a bold and outlandish statement from a rogue idiot in the White House (Anita Dunn). But today saw all the top administration officials from the White House hit the Sunday morning media circuit to further their message and attempt to really begin to take down Fox News. It was one thing when a statement was made. It is quite another now that it has become clear that President of the United States thinks the most pressing item on his plate is taking down a media outlet that doesn’t ask how high when he says jump….

The RNC Wants Your Opinion…

RNC LogoNot a giant topic tonight, as I have a lot to get accomplished at home this evening. I have a hectic week coming up and it may eat a lot of my time. So this week could end up with some spotty posting of articles. For tonight’s topic, I decided that I wanted to share with everyone the absolutely ridiculous questionnaire I got from the RNC. I received in the mail the other day, a “2010 Congressional District Survey” from the Republican National Committee. I found it odd that it was sent to me since I re-registered as an Independent two years ago. But none-the-less, I decided I would sit down and read it, see what it says. As I read the welcome letter from Michael Steele, I was a bit glad to hear that the Republican National Committee was interested in learning how I felt about the issues as they decide on how to go forth in the political world.

Taking the Fight to Fox News

Fox News LogoLet me start by letting everyone know that wordpress was down on Friday night for about 4 hours. It happened to be the four hours I intended to write, so that was why there was no guest commentary. It was not that I didn’t have submissions that could have been shared. Just wanted to give an explanation for why no article went up on Friday night. I was perusing the stuff out there this evening, hoping to find something that would strike my fancy in terms of interesting political news. I stumbled on to an article over at the Huffington Post discussing the White House’s recent decision to “go on the attack” against Fox News. I will be interested in hearing the opinion on this from the left. I know that we have discussed fox news before, and there are some who despise it. But I think that what we are seeing from the White House is something I cannot ever remember seeing before. And to be honest, it lowered my opinion of the White House a bit…

Another Night in the Hypocritical World of Congress

I am sorry to report that I will be offering more of an opinion piece on someone else’s work this evening. However, as I begin writing this it is already 2:50 am and I have no time to write a massive research piece. The good news is Mrs. Weapon is feeling a bit better and, as such, we were able to spend the evening hanging out and actually enjoying each other’s company (which means we hung out and watched Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice, which I can tolerate and even sometimes enjoy). Unfortunately her medication knocked her out all day so she is still up at this time of night, never a good thing for her. But she is recovering. It looks like she may get to return to work by the end of next week. But for now, she is up and moving around, which is a good thing. As for tonight, I again reach out to quickly discuss an article offered by someone else. It is a topic I though of covering, but I will instead simply offer my thoughts on what this author is saying on the subject. The guest commentary article for tomorrow is already written, which means tomorrow night I can hang out with my wife without any guilt, LOL.

What Happened to Reason and Values in This Country? Part 1

stand-up-for-americaI have been sitting around thinking about this subject all day. I knew last night that I was going to write this article. I kind of know what I want to say. And I will hope that it comes out the way that I want it to come out. Let me say up front what I want to accomplish with this piece. I want to set a few things straight for some of the folks that frequent the site. I have had this feeling over the last couple of weeks as I read the comments and discussions that I could not put my finger on. Something just didn’t feel right to me, no matter how detailed some of the responses were or how intelligent the people making them were. So for a couple of weeks I have tried to put my finger on what feels “wrong”. After some introspection, I think I have it figured out. And it isn’t just about the people on this site. It is about people everywhere in this country. It isn’t the left or the right (although lately it has been the left in charge and the left most guilty of forgetting what I am going to talk about). The fact is that the American public needs to wake up and get a grip on the absolute group of morally bankrupt idiots in Washington.

Tuesday Night Open Mic for September 22, 2009

Open Mic 1Tuesday Night Open Mic is upon us again. I wanted to write last night. I really did. However, Mrs. Weapon needed me more than you guys needed me. So she won. For the record she is starting to improve. She is still pretty sore and she can’t be on her feet for more than a few minutes, but each day gets a little better. As always, I appreciate the well wishes from all of you, as does Mrs. Weapon. As I was reading news last night there were all these different things that I saw that I thought, “oh, that would be a good one for the ‘quick hit’ open mic style.” My hope is that I will be able to go back and find them all tonight. The upcoming days will see me addressing the race issue a bit further and continuing on with some good articles I have been working on. I am hoping in the coming couple of weeks to offer a couple of further pieces on health care and a couple more articles that help us to debate and define our positions going forward. Should be interesting.

Now the Right is Mentally Defective

Huffington Post, logo1Whew…. Another very long day at the Weapon household. A 14 hour work day on top of making sure Mrs. Weapon stays as comfortable as possible during recovery. I want to take a moment to thank all of you who have wished us well and sent along messages each day with support and prayers. It is so encouraging to have so many people, even those who are diametrically opposed politically, who you feel really care about what happens in your real world. As an update, Mrs. Weapon is doing well, still in a lot of pain, but getting better. With any luck, we will have a full recovery and she will be back to writing me “honey-do” lists in no time. Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks, so we are almost through the first one. However this long day left me with little time tonight. But as I was reading some news and stuff, this article stood out to me. So I figured I would share the article with a few thoughts from me scattered in between.
Now those opposed are mentally ill

Defining the Greater Good

Greater Good SignI read through yesterday’s comments with some level of fascination. The discussions about the greater good were simply too good to pass up the opportunity to continue them by posting an article with my thoughts on the topic. As many of you may remember, I am a proponent of social darwinsim. I understand that in some people’s eyes, that makes me evil. I can live with that, simply because I reject your definition of evil. I have seen evil in my lifetime. It can take many forms. I saw pure evil in the eyes of men. But the purest evil I know is that which takes the form of a smile as someone tells me they have the right to control another’s destiny in order to serve “the greater good”. So I thought I would write out some thoughts here and merge them with the Atlas Shrugged content that I was going to share. I think the place where many are getting hung up is the idea of true freedom….
The Scam of Serving The Greater Good

Offering A Rebuttal…

I have some work to do tonight on a speech for a friend, so I didn’t have the time to really research and write a full article the way that I would have liked. I have lately been trying to do more research on the health care stuff and the series I promised is coming very soon. Wednesday or Thursday night will bring an article about a candidate in a local election that I think we can all get behind. We talked about supporting local candidates that can make a difference in terms of what many of us believe. This candidate is one so I want to make sure you get introduced to her personally. Tonight, since I have little time and wanted to respond to this, I make it my topic! Bob Cesca, who I wrote about from the Huffington Post the other night, decided that he would write about me on his site. Which is cool with me. I deserve it. I took him to task. He has the right to do the same. I certainly wish he would take a second and do so with some sort of informed opinion rather than making assumptions and trying to marginalize me with blatantly false claims about who I am, but hey, beggars can’t be choosers…

Arianna and Her Den of Hateful Idealogues

Huffington Post, logo1I was looking around this evening figuring out what I would write about. I have had so little time with my son here that I end up not starting until late in the evening. As I begin here I look at the clock and it is 1:43 am. But I was reading at a bunch of sites and I stumbled upon this article on The Huffington Post. I have to say, reading the Huffington Post often disturbs me. To read some of what the liberal folks post there and the things they say is downright infuriating. So I am going to take a moment here to single out one jackass who writes for the Huffington Post. Because it is important to realize the hate and vitriol that is being spewed at some of the most read far left sites out there. It gives you insight into the far left (which, for the record, does not include Ray, lest he be offended thinking I am talking about him). But I am also going to point to some folks there who have written some good stuff too.

More Media Bias and Marginalizing American Sentiment

Right Wing Extremist on BoardWhat would happen if that creepy “Sham Wow” pitch guy had an audience that called him out on the things a critical viewer notices in his sham of a commercial? What if someone pointed out during the commercial that that piece of rug he just showed wasn’t the same one that he had just poured the soda on (or pointed out that he shouldn’t beat up prostitutes?) ? Last week, when I had time, I was following the happenings of the supposed “town hall” meetings that were happening throughout the country. With Congress in recess, members were back in their districts “getting in touch with their people” (read as: doing more personal Sham Wow commercials for health care BS). I think that the answer to what would happen to the Sham Wow guy is being shown to us each day at these town hall meetings. I know my liberal friends here are going to cry foul, but I am personally tiring of every public outcry against the policies of this administration being labeled as either “right wing extremists” or “GOP plants that are not the feelings of regular voters”…..

Is Barney Frank the Biggest Idiot in Congress?

Barney Frank AngryI have wanted to discuss this for a bit now and finally had a night where I was able to read a little bit and research a little bit to attempt to get a grasp of whether what I had heard was true. I was figuring that after what Barney Frank played a major role in causing the first time, there is no way he would be crazy enough to suggest the same idiotic mistakes a second time. Apparently I have far underestimated the level of stupidity that Mr. Frank and the sheer idiocy of anyone who listens to anything that this man has to say. As you recall, I gave him good marks for how he handled himself a month ago when he made a return appearance on The O’Reilly Factor. Whatever good things I said about him then, I take back. He is clearly delusional and apparently lacks the ability to learn from the mistakes of his own past and make better decisions going forward. This man is a bumbling fool and should be dismissed as a Congressman immediately…

Transparency I Can’t See Through

democrat_and_republican_symbols1When I was a kid, I used to have the habit of walking or standing in the way of whatever my parents would be watching on the television. Inevitably, I would get the comment from my father that I “make a better door than a window,” letting me know that he cannot see through me. I have never forgotten that phrase and I continue to use it on my son and Mrs. Weapon. But I think that it is quite safe to say that, despite campaign promises to “bring transparency to Washington,” this administration, like all those before it, has no interest in being transparent. In fact I think that this administration is far less transparent than any administration in my lifetime. So I have to say that government really makes a better lead lined concrete wall than a window these days.
The Biggest LACK of Transparency in Political History

Well Then…. Let’s Just Get it All Out There Part 1

stand-up-for-americaTonight I was able to catch back up and read a lot of the comments of the last couple of days. I was not surprised to find that there were quite a few that disagreed with me on several different areas. D13 took me to task a bit (at least I think so, he didn’t say my name, but I got the distinct impression that he was talking about me along with others). I was also accused of felony possession of kool-aid with intent to distribute by TexasChem. Finally, I was under fire from G.A. Rowe, but then again, he and I often disagree on minor things while agreeing on major ones. All three offered up that I was wrong. And I will take that criticism. I don’t mind a bit. For goodness sake that is what I am here for! Now let me say up front that I don’t take offense to a single one of these attacks on my positions…

Channeling John Adams

soap-box-2My wife and I were watching the first part of the HBO mini-series this evening that chronicled the contributions of John Adams during the time of our founders. I have watched it before, a while ago. Mrs. Weapon had not watched any of it. So we thought we would sit down and watch an episode each night that we can until we finish it. I was listening to the speech that he gave just before he left for Philadelphia as one of the 5 representatives for the congress being held there. As I did, something really struck home with me. That spark has put me back on my soapbox tonight. And that is that the people of the United States have completely lost sight of everything that the founders were striving for when they did the things that they did. We have fallen into traps that were laid with the best of intention in most cases, and nefariously in others. I hear the calls to return to our roots and I submit to you that we are not ready to return to our roots….

Why The Hate for Sarah Palin?

PALIN CABINETI have been trying to go back and read some of the comments that I missed while I was on vacation. One thing that struck me was the hatred some espoused for Sarah Palin. I was literally reading it and saying to myself, “What the hell is this all about?” I understand she is a conservative. But it seems that the left has really strong hate for this woman. And I simply cannot figure out why. I mean, I have read all the same stuff. I have followed politics quite closely since well before she even entered politics. And I simply cannot figure out why the left hates her so much. She isn’t like Pelosi, who makes statements and pushes partisanship so blatantly and who is so far in left field that a ball that rolls to her has already long left the park. So I can’t figure it out. So I am going to talk a bit about Sarah, and maybe some of you on the left can help me understand your hatred for a woman who seems normal to me.

The Death of Whiners and CryBabies

dem-crying-baby-sealYou know, I am a fairly blunt and straightforward guy. I tell it the way I see it. And while I do a pretty fair job, in my own humble opinion, of being a kinder and gentler USWeapon when discussing things on my blog, sometimes it is tough. You see…. I despise whining and crying and people getting their feelings hurt over something that they should not have any issue with. So while I intend to be ethical and moral in my foundations for a new way forward, I have determined that I will abandon those priciples when it comes to people’s feelings and political correctness. A USWeapon administration will abolish political correctness and move whining and being a crybaby up on the offense scale to the level of treason. Punishable by death. The American mentality shall be reinforced in Americans and the time for weakness is over.

Differences in Sex Education Philosophy Part I

Sex Ed BooksThere was a bit of a debate on this subject in the guest commentary thread yesterday. I found that as I was reading it, I was wondering how much of what I believed about the subject was fact versus what I think I know. What better way to find out the facts than to do a little research and find out some of the truth on my own and present it to you. So I decided to do an article on this very subject. I have often been worried at the level of Sex Education being given to our children is not in line with the level should be. The results of America’s sex education programs are obviously not good, so where are we going wrong? Too much or too little sex education? Abstinence versus more comprehensive learnings? What about the seemingly earlier and earlier introduction of “alternative” lifestyle choices? Let’s take a closer look.

Blame it on the Rain… Or Rush… Or Coulter… Or…

Silent Majority No MoreLast week we saw yet another horrible act committed by a man that was obviously demented and mentally screwed in the head. He decided to walk into the National Holocaust Museum and begin shooting. He shot and killed a security guard before being shot himself by other guards at the site. The reaction from the main stream media has been, on several fronts, to link the killer to conservative causes and further to say that this deranged man was spurred on by conservative commentators such as Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, and Bill O’Reilly. I find this “reporting” by the MSM despicable. Not only is it dishonest, and hateful, it is hypocritical. I have had just about as much of the liberal media as I can take at this point, and I have decided that I am going to continue to pound home the pieces of trash that they have become for as long as it takes.

Republicans Finding Their Voice?

republican-symbolOver the last week or so I have seen countless articles discussing the current state of politics and proclaiming that the Republicans have found their way back to relevance through the topic of national defense. Along with that are the childish debates about whether Rush Limbaugh, Dick Cheney, or Colin Powell are the proper choice to be the voice of the new Republican party. I read these articles. I watch the videos. I listen to the speeches. And one thing that just sticks in my mind is that the Republicans are grasping at straws. Not one of those three men are fit to be the “voice of the Republican party”. The Republican party has no voice today because they do not stand for anything. They lost their relevance because they pandered and abused and lost their principles. When will that party wake up?

Couldn’t Happen to a Better Person

Oh, the sweet, sweet taste of one of my most disliked politicians finding themselves in a bit of a scandal and caught outright lying to the American people. They got you, Queen Nancy. They got you. For those that have not been following this ongoing drama as it played out over the last few weeks, allow me to just come right out and say what I am thinking. I cannot stand Nancy Pelosi. She is, in my opinion, the epitome of everything that is wrong with the American political system today. It isn’t because she is from the left. It is because she is not a good person. She is bitter and nasty and 100% full of bulldookey. There are bad politicians on both sides of the aisle, no doubt. But I struggle to find any worse than her. So the news breaking tonight that she has been caught in her hypocritical stance and caught lying about it just makes me giggle like a school-girl…

RNC Chairman Steele Says GOP base is Bigoted?

republican-symbolI got wind of this and to be honest I was a bit shocked when I read it. Many of the readers of this blog would consider themselves conservative. At least that is the impression that I get from all the comments. We have a few folks from the left (which I would like to see more of), but a generally conservative base. I often comment that the Republican party is no better than the Democrats these days. And I know I am not alone when I say the Republican party over the last bunch of years has become a party we don’t recognize any longer, and a party that certainly does not get unwavering support. Reading about RNC Chairman Michael Steele’s comments yesterday showed me a side of the Republican party that is exactly why I walked away from them several years ago.

Another Democratic Flip-Flop

In a surprising turn of events, the Obama administration is now reported to be reversing course and has come to the conclusion that all of their bitching and whining was unjustified. Realizing the flaw in their initial thinking and acknowledging that their petty attacks and reckless accusations against President Bush were unwarranted in this particular area, they have issued a formal apology. OK, I made that second part up. We all know that there will not be a time when the arrogant group of liberals running the Democratic party admit to being wrong or offer any apologies to Bush. But interestingly, they are in fact reversing course in the military commission system at Gitmo.

Hate Crime Legislation is Immoral

Hate Crimes HoRAlright, I made a fairly straight-forward statement there with that title. But I want everyone to understand how ridiculous I think all of the legislation around this is. Not only is hate crime legislation unfair and contradictory, it is hypocritical in today’s hate filled climate. This is a topic that I have actually wanted to cover ever since I started writing this blog. I just never got around to it. Today the news discussed the fact that Michael Savage (Conservative radio host) was banned from coming to the UK because of the things he says on the air. During the coverage on some sites, hate speech legislation came up because that is what he is banned from the UK for, hate speech.
Why Hate Crime Legislation is Wrong

Interrogation

interrogation-chairThe last couple of weeks have been dominated in the news cycle by the Obama administration’s de-classification and subsequent release of CIA documents around the enhanced interrogation techniques employed against high value terrorists. I have to say that I am a bit peeved about the whole thing. Probably not for the reasons that you may think, however. I am going to talk about interrogation here as I know it. I will talk about some of the allegations that have come up during the news cycles and what I know about them. I will attempt to discuss the morality of the situation and the line that we cross at some point. And I will discuss quickly the idea of prosecuting the folks that were involved in the interrogation of Khalid Sheik Muhammed and Al Zubaydah. Because it seems to me that these are criminals chasing criminals. So off we go…

Punished For Her Views…

mis-usa-logoOK, so here we are on Friday night, and you know what? I don’t have a single guest commentary to post! I thought I had a couple to choose from but when I went back and looked at them they were the ones that have already posted. So I apologize that you are just going to have to deal with plain old me again tonight. Now, upon realizing my lack of a guest commentary, I am forced to very quickly find something to write about an insert into the program. I wanted to do something I was fired up about, but that wouldn’t require hours of research and tons of brain cells. After all, it is 2:00 am as I start this article. And then I realized that I already knew based on pure opinion what to write about…. The Miss USA fiasco. Because it is in line with the persecution of Christian beliefs that I have discussed in the past. And it deals a bit with gay marriage, which I have also discussed. Plus it gives me a free shot at Hollywood hate-monger Perez Hilton.

Class Warfare.. A Liberal Chess Game

looneyleftChris brought up some issues about fairness in one of his recent comments and it got me thinking. He stated that he absolutely promotes class warfare, because it is warranted. We are rapidly approaching a breaking point in this country that has been driven by the politicians in Washington. They have promoted class warfare as a tactic to gain power. And they are furthering that tactic as a means to intrude further and further into private industry and take away the rights of American citizens. They do it by making people think that life isn’t fair, and government is going to even things up for you. Well, I will not be fooled by yet more government claims of their willingness to help Americans. I didn’t buy it from the Republicans when they ran things, and I certainly refuse to buy it from the Democrats now.

Gun Control on an International Level

un-sanctionsI have long held the belief that we, the United States of America, as the preeminent world super-power, must do our best to protect the world. There is a certain honor in the biggest guy on the block protecting the 99 pound weakling from the bad kids. I served my country for ten years, and I wasn’t a pencil pusher. I did a job where I literally put my life on the line for our country and our way of life. I am still proud of that service. I will always remain that way because I also think there is honor in serving something greater than yourself that you believe in. I believe in America, and that she is a great country. I fought for you, not for the Presidents that I served. And I would do it again.
