Ron Paul, the Doctor is In

I came across an article I thought was well written, and touched on a subject I think is very important, media bias.  For the record, Ron Paul is not my first or second choice for president.  There are many things I agree with him on, but also some where I have a different viewpoint.  But it has really gotten my attention how the media is universally dismissive of him, including FOX.  Maybe that alone is reason enough to switch my support to Dr. Paul, if no one in the media thinks it’s a good ideal, it must be a great idea.  And they are all playing their standard tricks, they decide what is “newsworthy”, so most don’t hear anything of substance about Paul because he is ignored.

Are Tough Questions Out of the Question?

I once found myself at the crossroads of rational decision-making. Oh, it wasn’t some insane moment where life and death were being decided (well, perhaps my life and death). It wasn’t some moment where a major earth shattering event was unfolding. Nope…. I was in a bar. It just so happened that it was a biker bar. I used to frequent those when I was younger and thought myself a whole lot tougher than I am in my forties. There were buckets of testosterone on each table. Boxes of manhood and muscle were stacked behind the bar. The lighting was dim, the place was filthy, and the steady pounding of hard rock music was only broken every now and then by a selection from one of the superbands of the 70s. There didn’t seem to be a whole lot of value placed on intelligence in that bar. They dealt in respect and feats of strength. It was the kind of place you didn’t walk into unless you were part of the regular scene or you really did believe that you were a pretty tough hombre. I sat at a table with a group from a well known national biker gang, and the discussion turned to racism, and it weren’t good (bad grammar intentional!).

Freedom of the Press Under Duress?

I saw the headline for this article the other day. At first I skimmed right past it. After a moment or two I thought about what I had passed, wondering whether it really did say what I thought it said. So I went up and found the headline again. It read, “Michigan Considers Law to License Journalists.” OK, it really did say what I thought that it said. I then read the article and found that it was exactly as bad as I had feared. It seems that simply going after the 2nd Amendment rights are not quite enough for those in power. They now appear to believe that they have the right to begin regulating the use of rights singled out in the 1st Amendment as well. While the proposed legislation does not stop anyone from writing whatever they like, I see it as a step in that direction. Further I see it as a result, and not an unexpected one, of the politicians in the US finding that they no longer can control the message to the people.

More Media Bias and Marginalizing American Sentiment

What would happen if that creepy “Sham Wow” pitch guy had an audience that called him out on the things a critical viewer notices in his sham of a commercial? What if someone pointed out during the commercial that that piece of rug he just showed wasn’t the same one that he had just poured the soda on (or pointed out that he shouldn’t beat up prostitutes?) ? Last week, when I had time, I was following the happenings of the supposed “town hall” meetings that were happening throughout the country. With Congress in recess, members were back in their districts “getting in touch with their people” (read as: doing more personal Sham Wow commercials for health care BS). I think that the answer to what would happen to the Sham Wow guy is being shown to us each day at these town hall meetings. I know my liberal friends here are going to cry foul, but I am personally tiring of every public outcry against the policies of this administration being labeled as either “right wing extremists” or “GOP plants that are not the feelings of regular voters”…..

ABC Changes Name Name to SBC…

Last Wednesday night we saw the official move by ABC to abandon their old moniker and adopt a new one. I have to admit I was a bit surprised that it was ABC that did it rather than MSNBC. The latter being so far in the liberal camp that it cannot even be considered a news source any longer. I was actually initially OK with the idea that ABC was going to give an hour long block of time to President Obama in order for him to tell America about his health care plan and why we have a crisis that only he can solve. After all, there is nothing wrong with him making his case. Where I lost my being OK with things was when they refused to allow any groups opposing Nationalized Health Care to buy advertising spots during the program or to be able to offer any sort of rebuttal or alternative ideas on the channel. It showed me that the America Broadcasting Company has officially changed into the State Broadcasting Company (SBC)….

Blame it on the Rain… Or Rush… Or Coulter… Or…

Last week we saw yet another horrible act committed by a man that was obviously demented and mentally screwed in the head. He decided to walk into the National Holocaust Museum and begin shooting. He shot and killed a security guard before being shot himself by other guards at the site. The reaction from the main stream media has been, on several fronts, to link the killer to conservative causes and further to say that this deranged man was spurred on by conservative commentators such as Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, and Bill O’Reilly. I find this “reporting” by the MSM despicable. Not only is it dishonest, and hateful, it is hypocritical. I have had just about as much of the liberal media as I can take at this point, and I have decided that I am going to continue to pound home the pieces of trash that they have become for as long as it takes.

Racist Rednecks Hold Tea Parties

Last Wednesday we saw the gathering of Americans across the country in cities far and wide to protest the out of control spending and expansion of government that they feel is ruining America. I have to say that I am proud of those that did so. The protests were peaceful (which is in direct contrast to most of the liberal protests that have happened over the years). The protests were non-partisan (despite the claims of those who opposed them). The protests were controlled and organized, and from what I could see, the protests were even cleaned up after, as those who protested made sure to pick up their mess when they were done. I can tell you the one thing that the protests were not….. Covered by major media outlets. Disgraceful. And I am now watching to see the reaction from the far left to the parties. I wondered how far they would go to disgrace or demonize those who held a different opinion. And I have to tell you, the far left has not disappointed me in providing example after example of why they are despised by many in America.

Silencing Christianity

As many of you may recall, I recently wrote a post suggesting that the religious right be minimized in the Republican platform and stripped of power in setting the agenda. I laid out my reasoning. Some agreed and some disagreed. I was asked yesterday about a current trend in discrimination against christians in America. I offered to write a post about it because there were certainly a few different religious discussions threatening to break out. Couple this with the recent discussion I saw about Muslims and I feel like perhaps the time has come for a bit of a religious discussion. I enter into the territory with trepidation, however….

Because We Cannot Let Maureen Dowd Suffer

I think you all know what I think of the Main Stream Media. All of them are biased. Most, but not all, of them are biased to the left. I chuckle at the sheer stupidity of anyone who attempts to make the claim that this isn’t true. They point to Fox News, but in reality Fox does pretty unbiased news during the day and freely admits that they turn the station over to conservative hosts at night. But it is far too easy to point out MSNBC, CNN, NBC, CBS, The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, LA Times, Keith Olberman, Katie Couric, and the wonderful Mrs. Dowd…. you get the point. The fact is that the news simply is not the news any more.
