I find myself beginning to write this article shaking my head in wonderment. Did I really find a way to bring a discussion about Lebron James into the realm of political discourse? How could I let this happen, I thought to myself. But, alas, it is true. I am going to write about the Lebron James situation. But this isn’t about basketball. This is about the pervasive racism that exists in the United States of America. This is about one of the top race baiters of our generation once again opening his mouth and trying to turn every action taken by anyone as an opportunity to claim that the intentions were rooted in racism (uh oh, I used the word rooted, which is similar to “Roots”, which is a slavery story, which means Jesse thinks I am a racist). And before you laugh too hard at that…. Jackson really would claim that my choice of the word rooted was a subliminal reference to “Roots” and show that deep inside I am a racist white man who wants to take advantage of black men worldwide. He and race baiters like him use tactics such as that regularly. And what is worse is that there are some people with ridiculously low IQs who actually believe them.
Let’s Stop Allowing Racists to Claim Racism

Tuesday Night Open Mic for February 23, 2010
We come to open mic not a moment too soon! It seems the topics the last few days have lit a fire behind some people and the discussions have been great. There are obviously some fundamental differences in the starting points for different folks in the conversations. I hope that in the future we have the opportunity to discuss those starting points specifically, rather than lightly flushing them out in order to make a point on something else. For example, the taxes are or aren’t theft discussion is one that I will write about soon and we can have a whole day dedicated to that debate. Should be interesting. For the upcoming few articles I have some plans. Now that I can see Mathius is back among us, I will finish the answer to his post as promised. I will also be starting the series I have been promising. My thought is Thursday night for the Mathius article, unless a guest commentary article shows up in my inbox. And then Sunday night for the beginning of the series. For open mic tonight, I am posting fewer topics initially, simply due to time constraints. So there will only be two to start. But I will add others as time permits. Perhaps not until Wednesday afternoon.

Harry Reid: Racist or Window on America?
There appears to be quite a flap over the comments that Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader, made in reference to then Presidential Candidate Barack Obama. I understand the remarks and I am not yet convinced that they were meant to be taken in the way that many in America will take them. But I guess the real question for me is whether the remarks make him a racist, at least in the form that the word is used today, or whether the comments that Reid made really are nothing more than a brief look into the true heart of the average Congressional member, or for that matter, into the heart of the average American citizen. Because while I don’t necessarily believe that the average American is a “racist” in the sense of the word as it is normally meant, but that does not mean that the average American has yet gotten to the point where they do not see color at all.
Why I Don’t Believe Reid’s Comments Make Him a Racist
