Tuesday Night Open Mic for July 27, 2010

We come to open mic off of some solid conversations around government’s fiscal responsibility and the impact and effectiveness of the massive regulations that are imposed on private business in America. I appreciate all the comments from folks around the topic, as it is one that I think is the most formidable problem for the country today. If we don’t stop ruining the economy of the United States, it is that which will eventually cause everything to crumble and put us into chaos and rebellion. For the open mic topics we have a college dictating what students must believe religiously, a Senator trying to fool us into believing that regulation would work if it weren’t for Republicans, a move to ban Fruit Loops from being advertised during cartoons because it is unhealthy for children, and the Governor of Pennsylvania advising the President to not appear on the View because it is not a serious program. As always, I encourage all of the readers here to post their own topics as well for discussion.

Alan Grayson… Idiot Child of the Left

I didn’t have a ton of time to write again tonight. I had actually decided that I was going to skip the night and try to get some other stuff I have been procrastinating on done. But then I stumbled across this article, another of the open letters Representative Alan Grayson seems so fond of writing over there at the Huffington Post (one of the few places that will give a voice to fruit cakes like Grayson). As you all know, I have no beef with HuffPo. They have some interesting articles and some good ideas that come from a very intelligent group of writers. Unfortunately, they also have become a place where hatemongers such as Bob Cesca and Fools such as Grayson are given a podium from which to spew their nonsense. What they will not do, however, is allow for any dissenting opinions to be offered to counter folks like Cesca and Grayson. And that is a shame, because the surest way to ensure that your writers won’t be taken seriously by anyone other than those who already agree with your ideas is to limit the ability to to offer rational responses.

Tuesday Night Open Mic for April 27, 2010

Tuesday night open mic is upon me again and I have plenty to say! I think you will be able to tell by what I have written on some of the subjects that I am a little testy today. Not in a bad way, but in my own way, which means that when I get testy I tend to get a bit blunt with what I am saying. For our topics we have a childish play on capital hill with Goldman executives, Banning toys in happy meals, Porn that I haven’t yet found on my iPhone, the GOP’s shady fundraising scheme, and an answer to TexasChem that I promised to provide this evening. I thank all of you who wished me well with my back. I spent quite a few years in the military doing really dumb things to my body, and every now and then it reminds me how dumb some of them were, lol. I just hope that I can remain in as good a shape as the good Colonel has managed….

The Death of Self-Sufficiency

self-sufficientI have had this discussion with some of the people that I associate with. I was wondering whether I should write a post about it. Then I talked to Revolution2010 the other night and she brought it up out of the blue (we had not discussed it previously). And I decided that I was indeed going to write about it. Much of the problem in America today, in my opinion, comes down to two things, personal accountability and self sufficiency. Personal accountability is something that I have discussed before, and I am sure I will discuss again because I despise the victim mentality that has permeated the American soul. But tonight I am going to discuss self sufficiency, because I believe that the current system does not foster it. And Obama’s plans will unfortunately makes things worse….
