Sayonara Rahm

This week begins one of the biggest transitions for the Obama led White House since they assumed power 20 months ago. We see the worst kept secret in the White House confirmed as Rahm Emanuel officially resigned his position as the Chief of Staff in order to pursue his candidacy for the Chicago Mayoral race. As most of you are aware, I am no fan of Emanuel. He certainly rubbed me the wrong way with his nastiness and absolute hatred for the other party, or for that matter, anyone within his party that didn’t go along with his plans and aspirations. Add to that his now famous “Never let a crisis go to waste” statement (which I personally think was one of the most damning statements ever made by a top level official in terms of revealing to the general public the way that national politicians view their role of governing the people), and you can see why he isn’t on my list of personal favorites. Of course everyone has their own opinion of Rahm Emanuel. What I am going to cover here is why I think that Emanuel leaving the White House is good news for the Obama administration, good news for Americans in general, and then pose a question to the people of Chicago who may now be forced to deal with Emanuel in a position of ultimate power within the city.

Tuesday Night Open Mic for May 4, 2010

Another fine day for an Open Mic. The legalization of Marijuana debate was interesting yesterday. I have to say, however, that I didn’t see a single coherent argument against legalization. A lot of supposition, rhetoric and ignoring of the facts that legitimate studies show. But very little in the way of evidence to support the idea that cannabis should be illegal. I was afraid that many would be so stuck in their ways that they wouldn’t even be willing to entertain ideas or facts that flew in the face of their beliefs. I was fortunate to find that there are many willing to think for themselves and really attempt to learn and discuss. For tonight we have a few articles, and I am sure there will be more added by all of you. We deal with the GOP panicking over candidates that don’t toe the party line, climate change legislation, terrorists who are simply misunderstood, and the “transparent” White House working to block an audit of the Federal Reserve.

White House is Proving They are Not Fit to Lead

Boo Hoo PosterWell, I have returned home and can now get back to writing like I am supposed to write! I was out of town all last week and operating from a hotel with spotty internet access. On top of that I was quite busy with work, which had me on a weird schedule working in a different location. But I did enjoy my time there and met quite a few cool folks in Dawsonville, Georgia. I touched on this subject a week or two ago, and I was going to let it rest because when I talked about it them I thought it was nothing more than a bold and outlandish statement from a rogue idiot in the White House (Anita Dunn). But today saw all the top administration officials from the White House hit the Sunday morning media circuit to further their message and attempt to really begin to take down Fox News. It was one thing when a statement was made. It is quite another now that it has become clear that President of the United States thinks the most pressing item on his plate is taking down a media outlet that doesn’t ask how high when he says jump….

The Best Course of Action Is…. Nothing?

I have watched this debate in the comments under several different articles over the last couple of months. There are those here who are fed up with the tactics of those in Washington who feel that the time has come for action. Then there is the train of though that says we should just do nothing. Don’t vote, don’t participate. BlackFlag is usually the one pushing that process. I thought it might be a good idea to have this debate as an open topic. So I asked BF to write an article that addresses the idea from his perspective. And I have done the same from my perspective. I will post them both below and then you can all let us have it for our perspectives.

Pot versus Kettle, Part 2

democratic_crybaby_sealOne of the reasons I get annoyed with Democrats today is that they are complete hypocrites. I have to roll my eyes every time I listen to their whining about someone saying something about the President. I mean, Really? You are going to play that game? How dare Rush Limbaugh come out and say that he hopes Obama fails. That is un-American. No, my friends, that is uniquely American. It is what makes us what we are. A country where the opposition is free to voice their opinion without fear of prosecution. And here is the kicker Democrats, you better thank your lucky stars that America is like that. Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been enough of you left walking around free to elect this fraud to the White House.
