Tuesday Night Open Mic for June 29, 2010

We come to another Open Mic night with a full plate of topics out there. I know I could have simply picked out some of the big ones out there and ran with them. But everybody is doing that! So I decided to find some of the other stories out there and offer them up, with the full understanding that if it is a big story, someone else will be offering them up throughout the day. I intend to eventually write about Kagan, but I am not sure where I stand on her yet. The hearings aren’t giving me a lot of info. I am also going to write about the Court’s gun ruling when I can, because I think it is important, and will have a ripple effect on some other stuff. I also really wanted to offer something quick on the videos that JAC suggested, but I haven’t yet had a moment to sit down and watch them, and probably won’t have time until this weekend. But I will offer a link to them in a separate article tomorrow so look for that to make it easier for folks to find them. For tonight I offer the Federal Government boycotting Arizona, changes to the FMLA interpretations, an arrogant Congressman, and a question about what may turn out to be a nightmare for the GOP in Nevada.

Initial Thoughts on “The Summit”

I could literally sum up my entire thoughts on the health care summit held at Blair House yesterday with just a line or two. They would be: The was nothing more than theater put on by the two parties. There was nothing accomplished and this was a complete waste of time and money. Of course if I summed it up in two sentences like that, this would not be a very interesting blog to read now would it? I am simply not prepared to dissect the entire 7 hours worth of bullshit that went on there quite yet. And I am not even sure that it is worth dissecting. However, if after this short piece, you would like me to delve further into what went on, I will. I live to serve. Instead I am going to offer some very quick observations and thoughts on what I saw of the summit. I watched a good portion of it. Morbid curiosity. It was big news so I feel like I had to at least touch on it tonight. But I will keep it short. Because it is guest commentary night and I don’t want to take away from the article that was submitted.
7 Hours of My Life That I Can Never Get Back

Failed Republican Economic Plans…

soapboxI couldn’t help myself with this one. You know, we have listened to the the Democrats get on their soap box for the last 3 months and tell us how the Republicans and their flawed economic policies have been exposed, and the Democrats are “through with listening to their failed ideas”. As may of you know I am not a member of the Republican party, but I still didn’t like hearing it from the Democrats on this one, because I am a fiscal conservative. I believe that the economic policies of the GOP are far better than those of the Democratic party. Sure, neither of them would be nearly as good as the policies me and BF would implement, but given the choice of the two parties in power’s economic ideals, I will take the Republican plan every time.
I am So Tired of The Democrats on Their Soap Boxes These Days

“RUSH”ing to Spend Our Tax Dollars

It seems that the Democratic party just isn’t quite sure what to say when a member of the media is not lauding them for their accomplishments or telling us all about the savior and why we are good and righteous people for electing him. They have actually commissioned an online petition against Rush Limbaugh for his comment that was directed at the new President. His comment: “I hope he fails”. I am not one to stick up for Rush very often. I think he and Ann Coulter have gone off the deep end a bit, but let’s look at the last 8 years, shall we?
Why Democrats are Hypocritical Crybabies

Should Burris be seated?

We are watching the petty bickering in the United States Senate over the embattled Illinois governor’s selection to replace Barack Obama’s Senate seat. Today they refused to allow him admission to the United States Senate. Harry Reid led the charge. So the question is, should he be seated or should he be barred from being the next Senator from Illinois?
Let’s Look at Some More Childish Behavior by Our Democratic Senators

Dude, Can You Loan Me Some Cash to Buy Your Car?

Now we see the American automotive industry looking for a bailout along with the financial industry. Let’s take a hard look at what is being proposed here and, more importantly, who is proposing it. I personally oppose bailing out the auto industry. I opposed bailing out the financial industry too under the bill that went through. I am a believer in Economic Darwinism. But read on and see what I am thinking. Then let’s talk about it.
