IN MEMORY OF JOHN ELIE (US WEAPON); THE FOUNDER OF SUFA:

USW created this blog to openly explore his misgivings and thoughts about American politics with complete strangers. It did not take long for him to gather together a rather large group of people willing to do the same. Unforeseen by him, or any of us, was that this group would become one big eclectic family.

Those of us who comment each day have changed over time. But the discussions that USW encouraged and participated in will have everlasting impact on the lives of not only those who participated, but those who watched from the gallery. That is because ideas, once released are very hard to hide or ignore. They will affect anyone exposed to them. We will not all react in the same way, but they persist in having an “impact” on us. In short, the family he created with SUFA and thus the lives he touched, numbers in the tens of thousands.

USW first found me at the Huffington Post, doing my absolute best to maintain my good manners in the face of overwhelming head winds. At that time I was exploring the web for much the same reason he started SUFA. He sought me out, as he did with others, because he thought I had something to offer and would appreciate a “less toxic culture”, as he put it. It was in essence an offer to come join his family because he thought I would fit in. As it turned out this little family of his was so diverse that virtually anyone could fit in. Unless, of course, they were obnoxiously rude to others in the group. Civility was the rule, even if it was sometimes very hard to enforce.

Most of SUFA only saw a portion of the discussions USW and I had with a certain Pirate about how his effectiveness would be enhanced with more civility and a less acidic tone. These talks would have some effect, for a time. But as we all know, Pirates will be Pirates. No matter what the color of the flag they fly.

He offered us all a place where diversity of thought, experiences and opinions were welcome. A place where civil discussion, and disagreement, was the rule. This in turn allowed us all to gain greater knowledge and understanding. A place where we could expand our minds and improve our thinking and argumentation skills. I think it was his underlying purpose for SUFA. I do not think he realized the extent to which achieved this goal nor how much he was appreciated by most of us. I think Mathius captured that with his tribute:

“What a tragic loss. He was a man who wanted to do good and who valued kindness. He was open and evenhanded and intellectually honest. This is, as many of you will know, perhaps the highest praise I can offer of a man.

I often disagreed with him – but never once did my respect for him falter in the slightest. I wish his family well in this time of grief.”

His desire to keep this a place for civil discussion of dissenting opinions was noble, timely, greatly appreciated, and needed now more than ever. As you all know, USW left me with the keys to his kingdom when he decided he needed to attend to other priorities. SUFA had grown so big and demanding of his time it was becoming overwhelming. He dropped in from time to time, and I know was often watching from the gallery. In his absence we did pretty well, for awhile. But it has, to say the least, been a challenge for us all, me included, to maintain the culture he built. Frankly, sometimes we have not lived up to his expectations. We identify many reasons for this, but the real point is that no garden may flourish without constant attention and care.

USW’s passing has caused me to reflect on what he hoped to create with SUFA and to commit to trying harder to maintain his legacy. But, no matter how hard I, or anyone else, tries to live up to his expectations for SUFA, none of us will ever be able to reach the standards set by one Mr. John Elie, our very own US Weapon.

In closing I have copied one of the first articles by USWEAPON on the status of the various Political Parties. Oh the irony it being his critique of the Republican Party in 2009. This was soon followed by a series on the Libertarian Party, and was about the time he brought me to the family. The reason I coped it, however, was to remind us of the tenor of his articles and the essence of the man who built SUFA.

The Direction of the Republican Party

FEBRUARY 22, 2009 BY USWEAPON (EDIT)

republican-symbol

By request I have bumped this post back up towards the top of the page. The discussions have been good thus far and I want them to continue. I originally posted this on February 3, but will try to keep it closer to the top as long as people like. As those who have been along for the last four months know, this journey started with my realization that the Republican Party no longer represented to me what the Party used to. I was feeling a bit neglected by my party and embarrassed by their actions. So I left them and began seeking a better way forward because I felt that a better way forward was not what they were interested in. We have explored the Libertarian Platform, which seems pretty solid to me. But I can’t get the Republican disappointments out of my head. The selection of Michael Steele as the new Chairman of the RNC got me thinking….

So here is where I am sitting these days. The Republican party for me used to represent the good guys. It was the christian party. Family values and cutting taxes. National Defense and smaller government. Sure the party had its share of bad guys, but the party always seemed to hold just a bit higher moral ground than Ted Kennedy and the Democrats. I was talking to one of the few people I trust to discuss politics intimately with tonight and she reminded me of what I used to like about the party. They weren’t perfect, but they were certainly better than the democrats.

elephant-shooting-self

That is certainly not the case any more. The party has slipped into the abyss and now find themselves on equal moral ground with the Democrats. Republicans have just as many crooked politicians as their opponents. They seem to find ways to justify expanding government’s role just like the Democrats, only from the opposite end of the spectrum. They vote for the same pork laden bills and take the same kickbacks. Realistically the only thing that makes them better than the Democrats is that they don’t have to admit to having that crazy bitch Nancy Pelosi in their party.

1986-reagan-pointing

The last couple of weeks have found me discussing with my many politically minded friends what the direction of the Republican Party needs to be in order to get better again. Should the Christian Right be given far less say in the party agenda? Should they remove the abortion debate (which they will never win out on) go away and stop polarizing moderates with it? What about gay marriage? There are so many platform issues that are out there for the Republicans. So I am asking all of you for your input and opinion. What should the Republican party change in order to “fix itself” and get back on track with its many disenfranchised voters?

So no issue is off limits here. I want to hear from everyone. If you are reading this you surely have an opinion on at least one thing the party should do differently. What are the issues that you don’t like in the party? Not sharing it would be a neglecting of your purpose for reading this blog in the first place. Most of America is somewhere in between the two party platforms, so let’s here where you think the party should go if they want your vote.

Your service to our country was and remains immeasurable. I look forward to the day we can sit at the table in Valhalla, sharing Tankards of Ale and our thoughts on the musings of the universe. Until then, God Bless You my friend and thank you for all you did. May nothing but peace and loving memories be with your family. JAC

Ray, if you think this appropriate please feel free to share with his family. If you have contact with them. I considered him a friend and do truly regret never getting to N. Carolina to meet him in person.

    • Thanks JAC for posting this. USWeapon did a great job in creating this JUNTO Club or Leather Apron Club a la Ben Franklin. I stumbled onto the site in 2009/2010 time frame and spent some time just reading before I got up the nerve to post. I especially appreciated USW’s ability to find relevant topics to start the healthy discussions that followed. Both the loss of gman and USW leave a big hole in the site for us to fill. The best way to honor them is to keep the discussion going.

  2. Dammit JAC. Somehow I held it together last night. Your tribute here opened the flood gates. I spent a good amount of time thinking last night how US Weapon lifted much burden from my shoulders. I finally felt relief that someone, many people I learned, could articulate what I could not. I still feel that way here. I’m thankful beyond words for the knowledge I’ve gotten here, and that in my own way, I’ve been able to relay so much from here to my siblings, kids, and friends. I only wish my dad was around. He’d fit right in here and he’d be proud of me for what I’ve gained here.

I received a couple personal emails from John. One was a beautiful condolence message from him when my sister died. Another was after some jerk flew in here one night, throwing shade at Weapon about his military career. I threw shade back along with a couple other people. John told me he deleted the entire comment thread and asked me to keep it on the downlow. Of course I honored his request. I hope to meet him somewhere over the rainbow.

I’ve looked back at the archives many times. Its such a useful thing to have handy and it brings many fun memories. I’ll bet money that I know what the D in D13 stands for! LOL. Give me permission, Colonel , and I’ll see if I’m right. Otherwise mum’s the word on that.

  3. Beautiful tributes to our SUFA leader. Many times I am asked how my beliefs developed and I’ll share a few experiences I had, then say, “then one day I saw an ad on FB for a discussion group and joined this blog. The learning curve (and research time) increased tremendously!” I have so many good memories from those days; going through the archives sounds like a great idea, Anita. Who woulda thought back then that we’d be here today. We always talked about a reunion — I would love that!

    • IIRC that reunion was supposed to be at Cyndi P’s place. 🙂

Just looking through the contributor’s list on the home page is enough to set off flashbacks. We know of two now who have passed…makes me wonder if more are gone.

      High five, sister.

  4. USW and I had some really good discussions on here and privately……a loss to be sure.

Taps has sounded and he has moved on…..when the role is called for me…I will see him again.

  5. From John’s post: “The last couple of weeks have found me discussing with my many politically minded friends what the direction of the Republican Party needs to be in order to get better again. Should the Christian Right be given far less say in the party agenda? Should they remove the abortion debate (which they will never win out on) go away and stop polarizing moderates with it? These are some very prescient questions that have been answered in the worst possible way, it seems to me. I wonder if John might agree with me on some of it.

The Christian Right is now a HUGE voice in the party of fascist wannabes and the FACT they’ve taken Trump in as their standard bearer … oy vey! It’s one of the questions I put to MAGA and the religious right all the time and have yet to hear a reasonable explanation. How do you marry Trump and Jesus? How do you marry the beatitudes and MAGA? You can’t. Next … they won the abortion debate because of the Christian right and the election of someone who was a wholehearted supporter of abortion but was depraved enough to “evolve” … someone who saw the opening of lying about it and joined the pro-life fray for political purposes. I think Trump looks over the playing field and sees the rubes are there for the taking and he tells them what they want to hear (like every politician) and then sits back and watches the chaos take root. Gay marriage is no doubt on the chopping block by the Republican Nazi party and their chosen judicial fascists, but will they succeed? Probably. Everything else they’re doing to turn what’s left of this country into a shit-hole country seems to be on schedule. As far as the Republican Party fixing itself, I believe it’s already too late. Once they embraced a fool and a charlatan like Donald Trump, they went down the rabbit hole of stupidity and logic squared. There’s nothing they won’t say or do to gain or remain in power (including the Knucklead Revolution they staged on January 6, 2021). Not that the Democratic party is any better because they’re equally corrupt to the core and do NOT care about those who elected them, but the fact is we’re traveling in reverse with the bonus of a sudden desire for an authoritative figure (ignorant con man or not). I’m no Republican, although I have voted for the dummies in the past. I’m not democrat because they infuriate me with their bullshit and embracing of the corporate state. I’m a socialist and while I know it will NEVER take root here, it isn’t because it can’t … it’s because there won’t be enough time before this empire collapses in one of several ways, none of them good.

    • Just A Citizen says:

      charlie

I see you still cannot control your habit of hyperbole and slander. It really isn’t necessary to make a point. And as I explained to you long ago, as well as BF and others, it DETRACTS from your arguments. Mathius chastised G-Man profusely over his habit of just poking at Democrats or the left for the fun of it. To just get a rise out of them. This was in part what pushed Mathius into the gallery. How is your behavior any different? Hint: It is not.

There is no Nazi tendency in the Republican Party. Nor do I see it in the Democratic Party. While not Nazi, both parties have long supported the idea of a “mixed economy” which is a euphemism for Fascism. Mr. Trump did not display any affection or beliefs that even came close to Nazi. I also think you completely misunderstand the MAGA types desire for a “strong” leader as opposed to an “authoritarian” or tyrant. MAGA is similar to the Tea Party in one very important way. They want the Swamp drained. They see the corruption and decay of govt., the decline of Constitutional authority over the Govt. Ironically, this is what many in the Democrat Party also used to espouse.

The “Christian Right” influence over the R party has declined since USW wrote that article. It has in fact declined since Reagan’s term. It would be fair to say that as a group they may have influence in certain States or State level parties. But not the party as a whole.

And that my friend is why you have such a hard time meshing the Christian values with the election of Mr. Trump. He was elected by a large group of Dems and Indep. that defected from their normal D vote. Why? Hillary Clinton. Any rational and moderate Democrat could have beaten Mr. Trump but the Dems just had to have Mrs. Clinton. Large numbers of Christian Right did not vote when Mr. Romney was the candidate. Some think it cost him the election. So maybe some of them felt not voting turned out worse than accepting a flawed man who at least would defend our national interests over those of the global elite.

Now has Mr. Trump always been such a “conservative”? No! And I do think there is truth in saying he changed his spots to consolidate his power base, the Republican Party. I also think some of this movement in his beliefs was due to the relentless, unjustified, and irrational reactions to his election.

Also, the only “judicial fascists” that are readily apparent were appointed by the D’s and spout some of the most un-Constitutional rhetoric I have ever seen from a Justice. Remember Charlie, a hallmark identifier of fascism is “the ends justify the means”. A clear trademark of the Democrat Party and the likes of Ms. Sotomayor and Ms. Kagan.

How Mr. Kavanaugh feels about abortion is irrelevant. Because he and the others who killed of Roe did so due to the “means” not the “ends”. They remained silent on the “ends”, as they should have. Unlike their Democrat appointed colleagues.

      • “There is no Nazi tendency in the Republican Party.”

I disagree. I believe the Republican Party, by their embracing Nazi wannabes like Orban, have filled in the blanks of the Muslim ban, “shit-hole” countries, Charlottesville, et al.

“Mr. Trump did not display any affection or beliefs that even came close to Nazi.”

You stand corrected. The Muslim ban/Jewish ban in Nazi Germany.

“I also think you completely misunderstand the MAGA types desire for a “strong” leader as opposed to an “authoritarian” or tyrant.”

Mr. Trump deferred his duty to serve in Vietnam 5 times. How is that a “strong” leader? He bragged about “making everybody at a fundraiser “richer” … he attacked the press the way Stalin did “enemy of the people” … and his embracing of authoritarian leaders around the world kind of makes the final point. His attempt to overthrow the 2020 election was icing on his cake. There’s more desperation than strong leadership there.

“MAGA is similar to the Tea Party in one very important way. They want the Swamp drained. They see the corruption and decay of govt., the decline of Constitutional authority over the Govt. Ironically, this is what many in the Democrat Party also used to espouse.”

Trump “draining the swamp” is about the most absurd argument in the history of the world (excepting, perhaps, the one for the designated hitter) … the guy has been a dirty businessman with 6 HUGE bankruptcies and 3500 law suites waiting for him to pay the poor bastards he screwed out of the fees for services performed. Maybe you need to look into that a bit more.

“The “Christian Right” influence over the R party has declined since USW wrote that article.”

Declined? What are you talking about? Seriously?

“It has in fact declined since Reagan’s term. It would be fair to say that as a group they may have influence in certain States or State level parties. But not the party as a whole.”

They own the party as long as they remain lockstep with Bunker Boy. Jesus & Trump, a marriage made in the Christian right heaven. Do you really think Trump garnered 74 million votes with them? Come on, man.

“And that my friend is why you have such a hard time meshing the Christian values with the election of Mr. So maybe some of them felt not voting turned out worse than accepting a flawed man who at least would defend our national interests over those of the global elite.”

Clinton killed the Dems (as did the Dems themselves) but Trump doesn’t win shit without the Christian right. Trump is part and parcel of the global elite. How can you even type a sentence like that?

“Now has Mr. Trump always been such a “conservative”? No! And I do think there is truth in saying he changed his spots to consolidate his power base, the Republican Party. I also think some of this movement in his beliefs was due to the relentless, unjustified, and irrational reactions to his election.”

The reaction I agree with. The fugazi “Russian asset” bullshit was nonsense. The Democrats are nonsense … so yeah, the reaction has been a bit absurd. His crimes, however, have been there before he ran. Now they’ve caught up him. We’ll see if they actually do their jobs at the DOJ.

“Also, the only “judicial fascists” that are readily apparent were appointed by the D’s and spout some of the most un-Constitutional rhetoric I have ever seen from a Justice. Remember Charlie, a hallmark identifier of fascism is “the ends justify the means”. A clear trademark of the Democrat Party and the likes of Ms. Sotomayor and Ms. Kagan.”

Oy vey … I guess it depends on whose ox is gored, but you have got to be kidding. 🙂

“How Mr. Kavanaugh feels about abortion is irrelevant. Because he and the others who killed of Roe did so due to the “means” not the “ends”. They remained silent on the “ends”, as they should have. Unlike their Democrat appointed colleagues.”

Irrelevant for GOP nominees but not so for Dems. I see now! How could I have been so gasslighted! (sarcasm intended).

There was NO MUSLIM BAN. And even if there were, it would not have been a Nazi move. Just prudent.

True Nazis would have rounded up and eliminated the Muslims. See the difference?

Your continued use of Nazi due to associations is not very smart, to put it nicely. Furthermore the label Nazi is assigned by you or others on the far left, not objective observers. You have not, and I dare say cannot, explain how simply wanting to maintain one’s cultural identity, i.e. Slavic, is being a Nazi.

You and your cohorts that abuse that name have done the world a great disservice. You have cred Nazi so long that we have to conclude that either a) everyone is a Nazi, or b) no one is a Nazi.

          • All forms of Nationalism have a Nazi ringtone … you can’t see it because … 🙂

Me and my cohorts are pretty sure we’re right. 🙂

            • Just A Citizen says:

So pretty much the whole world is filled with Nazi states, or at least states with Nazi ringtones. Is that correct?

“Clinton killed the Dems (as did the Dems themselves) but Trump doesn’t win shit without the Christian right. Trump is part and parcel of the global elite. How can you even type a sentence like that?”

          1. Mr. Trump needed every vote to win. TRUE.
          2. Does the fact that some Evangelicals voted for him prove they control the party? NO.
          3. Does Mr. Trump win without defecting Dems (Bernie Bro’s) and Independents? NO.
          4. Does Mr. Trump’s status as a member of the global elite have anything to do with Evangelicals or Christianity? NO. Does this fact negate the reality about how he got elected? NO.
          5. Since Mr. Trump needed the Bernie supporters to win does this mean that they own the Republican Party? NO.

          • 1. Mr. Trump needed every vote to win. TRUE.

Trump needed Dems and independents to stay home as well. We did. I actually was glad he defeated Clinton knowing full well what a moron he was. What I didn’t realize was how much he’d embrace being emperor and how he’d abuse the power of the office.

            2. Does the fact that some Evangelicals voted for him prove they control the party? NO.

He doesn’t win without them. FACT.

            3. Does Mr. Trump win without defecting Dems (Bernie Bro’s) and Independents? NO.

            Correct.

            4. Does Mr. Trump’s status as a member of the global elite have anything to do with Evangelicals or Christianity? NO.

Wrong. It’s that magical marriage of Evangelicals-Trumpism and Jesus. Hilarious but there they remain. Jesus sacrificed his life so that everyone would become rich, don’t you know? 🙂

4b. Does this fact negate the reality about how he got elected? NO.

Not a fact, so a pointless argument.

            5. Since Mr. Trump needed the Bernie supporters to win does this mean that they own the Republican Party? NO.

Confusing … and has nothing to do with how the Dem corporate media (MSNBC & CNN) used Trump’s campaign to amass a fortune in revenues and provide $2 billion worth of free coverage. The really big mistake, I suspect, is the hypocrisy the DEMS show today by funding MAGA candidates as if they will be a slam dunk to defeat in November. It’s like 2016 never happened … but that’s on the Dems and if the MAGA candidates win, the DEMS will have deserved it. They claim MAGA is anti-constitutional (and it is), then fund them. Our entire political system and the economic system that rules over it in a nutshell. Total hypocrisy.

            • Just A Citizen says:

              charlie

Such density is amazing. “Wrong. It’s that magical marriage of Evangelicals-Trumpism and Jesus. Hilarious but there they remain. Jesus sacrificed his life so that everyone would become rich, don’t you know? ”

It is you sir who is wrong and again misdirecting. First, Jesus died to cleans us of Sin. A clean slate so to speak. Earning money, even becoming rich has nothing to do with that. As making money is not “sin”.

That fact that some Christians vote for Trump does not denote a “marriage” unless you are claiming that the fact Ms. Pelosi, Mr. Schumer and others also rely on blocks of Catholics to get elected. Catholics who vote for people who support killing innocent babies in the womb, by the way. Ah, but it is only the evangelical cohort that deserves derision. Why? Because TRUMP.

        • Just A Citizen says:

“Irrelevant for GOP nominees but not so for Dems. I see now! How could I have been so gasslighted! (sarcasm intended).”

Good, you are finally waking up. Note what you said. The Dems have had a litmus test and that test was based on the “ends” not the “means”. They have known for decades that the legal arguments supporting Roe were FALSE. So they started holding nominees accountable to “precedent/Stare Decisis” So they have a “loyalty” test for their candidates. If you do not support lousy legal arguments because we like the outcome then you are bad.

You focus on Roe, but the Affordable Care Act was another example. Only in that case you had the gutless wonder boy Mr. Roberts on the D side.

          • The Dems “assumed” Roe wasn’t worth the fight. Another Obama failure since he could’ve codified it with legislation had he not wasted his time on a half-assed insurance company giveaway (ACA). It was horrendous language (Roe), I’ll give you that, but it’s also another example of how feckless the Dems are to the working class (thank you, Bill Clinton) who you guys should be kissing the ground he walked on for his corporate giveaway and NAFTA (kissing the ground the way Dems now kiss Liz Chaney’s ass) … so it goes.

            • Just A Citizen says:

              charlie

What do you mean the Dems didn’t think Roe worth the fight. They have been “fighting” over that issue since it happened. Using it as a fund raising ploy and scare tactic to keep certain demographics loyal to their party. There has never been a real threat to Roe, until this last SCOTUS was convened. And if Roberts had his way it would not have been overturned.

Why would I be kissing Mr. Clinton’s ground over NAFTA? I do get a kick out of watching the D’s kills Ms. Cheney’s backside though. Even more funny is how she thinks they are her friends. If they did push her over the finish line in the primary they would turn on her in a New York minute in the general. Once the Jan 6 and Mr. Trump stuff is over, they will stab her in the back.

  6. S Kent Troy says:

    Totally off topic.

A “new” theory. last week. We took all nine grandkids and their parents to Knoebel’s Groves amusement resort in PA. Best Amusement Park ever. I noticed, something that I’d seen elsewhere but had NOT thought about. A large number of young Anglo guys were there with kiddies in tow and their young Hispanic wives. Besides the wonderful times they were having I noticed the close knit and relative large family size.

The synapses suddenly connected. Had been talking to the bride earlier in the week about the two young guys living down the block from me still with their parents. Both good looking successful guys in their mid to late twenties, very traditional. Their Mom had talked to the wife repeatedly about how impossible it was for them to meet traditional girls with values and religion. They just kept running into young ladies in Hoboken and lower Manhattan interested first and foremost in careers and money.

I would posit that the smarter young white guys have given up on their peers in many cases and literally lucked into Hispanic girls, perhaps first generation American born who still believe that a career may be important but a family more so.

    Maybe there is hope!

    Two quick points.

    1. The “technical changes” that forced this bill into reconciliation was the Dems inserting stuff unrelated to the bill. Which of course was more “funding” for something.

    2. Why in the hell is legislation like this even needed? And do we really want Congress deciding that there is “no burden of proof” required to get benefits?

    • S Kent Troy says:

I’ve had this question for a while. Take my cousin, dead at 55 from Leukemia. He was in Viet-nam with the marines early on and certainly had agent orange exposure as well as being stationed at Camp Lejeune for a year before his deployment. Then take my overweight 75 year old friend with heart conditions who was in the Navy, off Viet-nam. Bobby died before anybody got serious about benefits for Agent Orange. My friend just qualified. I did not know until reading this that the Fed. Govt was revisiting stuff that was completed long ago. As in during the Clinton/Gore administration. I agree with the author, this is a waste of time and money. It sure smells of more political interference in agency level work.

The greenies have longed for simplified definitions that rely on things like tree size and/or density, or particular wildlife habitat (spotted owl). But as the author notes, not all “old growth” is created the same. Furthermore, the term “old growth” was bastardized by the greenies in an effort to get public support for halting logging on federal and state lands. Political terminology, even wild life terms, are not the same as ecological terms.

To put it in terms most can relate to, “old growth” is not a static thing or identifiable entity. It is a stage of development, be it a late stage. Just as a fetus is an early stage of a developing human.

    • Not to worry, since the most recent fire up the hill from me, most of the forest can now be classified as new growth. All the old growth is gone.

    https://www.politico.com/newsletters/morning-money/2022/08/10/inflation-deceleration-00050750

Looking into the way back machine, I see a time when the Fed raising rates 3/4% point did not stop inflation. Not until they crippled the economy with double digit interest rates.

    • Just A Citizen says:

One other note. I saw a video a couple days back by an economist type. His point on inflation was that the USA can respond, via the Fed, primarily because we have a larger population of younger workers than much of the world. His take was that this “allows us to absorb the impact of the Fed raising rates”. Do you want the layman translation?

We can screw over the younger workers with higher interest rates in order to keep inflation down. In order to keep the retired generation from rising up at the polls and throwing us all out on our arses.

    • Once prices have gone up, they stay up for everything except a few commodity items. So the damage is done. Also, the government has $Ts committed yet to spend so the money supply will continue to grow.

You were right. I loved it. I would add a couple points. I do not think Fox News started this slide. They seem to have forgotten why Fox succeeded. And that took a while. The media was already being perceived as bias, aka the Reagan years. It was just getting worse and then Fox gave folks breath of fresh air, so to speak. But Fox also originally had more “balanced” opinion show. They devolved into group think later, after they became No. 2, CNN still being No. 1.

Second point on political parties and being the same. I read a great academic piece two days ago on the history of political parties. The USA was pretty unique in terms of how they started and what they were. The USA has always had two parties that were closely aligned on many topics. Political scientists think this is why our Govts have been so stable. The only other time they became widely split on “ideological” grounds led to the Civil War.

The Democrat party started losing ground across the country when it decided to embrace the far left, more radical side, and abandoned that “liberal” center. It started before Clinton. He tried to bring them back by moving back towards the center. So having two parties nearly agreeing on most things in and of itself is not bad for the country. Only the pure ideologues that get left out. Like you on one side and me on the other.

      • “The Democrat party started losing ground across the country when it decided to embrace the far left, more radical side, and abandoned that “liberal” center.”

There is no “RADICAL” SICE within the Democratic Party. Bill Clinton did business a HUGE favor with NAFTA and his taking it up the ass with Wall Street. Obama followed suit. Not sure if you’re familiar with Chris Hedges (very left), but he makes a valid point I think you’ll agree with: Americans can no longer vote against the military industrial complex (war/proxy or otherwise) or Insurance companies or Big Pharma or Big Oil or Wall Street. Both parties are copacetic on those issues (for the most part).

“It started before Clinton. He tried to bring them back by moving back towards the center. So having two parties nearly agreeing on most things in and of itself is not bad for the country. Only the pure ideologues that get left out. Like you on one side and me on the other.”

We probably agree on more than you think. I really do hate the Democratic Party more than the GOP. Not because I think the GOP is better, but I respect the fact that they tell you to their face what they’re about. The Dems are so full of shit … (i.e., kinte cloth) … oy vey!

Those two are two of my favorites (Taibbi and Greenwald) and I couldn’t care less if Greenwald goes on Tucker Carlson. 🙂

        • This is one of the shows I try to watch … a progressive (Ball, fired by MSNBC for telling Hillary not to run in 2016 & big Sanders supporter before he folded his tent) and Enjeti (Conservative and Carlson acolyte). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSwh810W48k

          • Just A Citizen says:

You should stop watching them, unless you recognize their bias and act accordingly.

I have watched Ball before, on some other issues. She is very good and misleading with subtle claims of fact that do not exist, but appear to support her rhetoric. For example, saying Thomas’ arguments about the court’s rational for Roe and Gay Marriage leads to interracial marriage is BS, in my opinion. The D’s have run out with a bunch of left leaning lawyers to make this argument. They are not the same and I think these lawyers are playing politics. Go back to the video of Greenwald. Few people making comments today are truly objective and independent. Most want to fit into one of the clubs.

            • BS, huh? Meanwhile Thomas has already said he’d go after gay marriage and CONTRACEPTION. Think about that for a full second. You should stop watching FOX. 🙂

              • Just A Citizen says:

He did not say he would go after either. He said that the same flawed legal arguments were used by the SCOTUS on those cases. And therefore, they could be reviewed under the same guidelines. He is RIGHT.

So yes, it is BS rhetoric. Designed to inflame your emotions. I see it has worked.

                • “The same rationale that the Supreme Court used to declare there was no right to abortion, he said, should also be used to overturn cases establishing rights to contraception, same-sex consensual relations and same-sex marriage.” SHOULD BE USED … read it again.

                  • Just A Citizen says:

That is nothing different from what I said. But you beloved was talking about inter racial marriage. This is a Strawman. And you jumped on it, I called you out, now you want to change the argument back to what I stipulated he said from the beginning.

That those laws created by SCOTUS should be overturned because SCOTUS used the same flawed legal principle to create them. That does not mean those things will go away.

                  • Just A Citizen says:

You do realize, don’t you, that SCOTUS cannot simply review those old decisions. A lawsuit must be filed and then perk up through the system before they could review it.

  14. Just A Citizen says:

While just out soaking my compost piles and watering some raspberries, that are waiting to be planted in the fall, I had a thought.

The populist rhetoric used to rationalize some type of govt action against one group who is bad and for another which is good, completely misidentifies the problem. That is the decline of moral standards and the ethics which would follow, and thus the social/political/ economic which depend on it.

Corporations are not the problem. Bad people within them are the problem. Bad people exist everywhere so you cannot Fix the problem by giving any one entity more power over others. If moral decay is the issue, you must address the decay.

What socialists, in all their forms, do is rationalize theft on their behalf by pointing to someone they think stole from them. This is the ultimate manifestation of the “what aboutism” fallacy. Well they stole millions in their schemes, so I should be able to use power to steal from them. Or anyone else I deem unfit or crooked or just better off than me.

The video Charlie provided mentioned “traditional divisions” based on class. I submit that class division did not exist in this country because there were no classes. Not until the socialists arrived during early industrialization. They brought that plague with them from Europe. Since then it comes and goes with respect to its intensity. But only recently does it seem that the Elite have decided to create a “protected class” for themselves. And as Mr. Greenwald and Taiibi pointed out. Such a division of power into the haves and have nots has never ended well.

The real question we have to address is whether we as a nation are becoming corrupt because our leaders are corrupt. Or are our leaders becoming corrupt because we are corrupt. If we keep throwing them out and we still get the same result, maybe the problem is not them.

    • “I submit that class division did not exist in this country because there were no classes.”

Wow. I”m trying to imagine the mental gymnastics necessary to come up with that one. 🙂

      • Just A Citizen says:

gymnastics is not required when truth is spoken.

The ONLY class that existed in this country was Slaves, which were emancipated after the Civil War. But those slaves were not part of any “class” struggle in politics.

Class is a fixed socio/economic/political group. There is no, or virtually no, upward mobility.

The whole class warfare meme was imported from Europe. That is what happens with unrestricted migration. One culture overwhelms the other.

        • Oh, my bad. I didn’t realize how many farmers and fisherman were present at the constitutional convention when the laws protecting private property and interpreted by the wealthy were penned. Not sure how I missed that one.

Every society is a class system, including socialist and communist (for all their best intentions) … Native Americans had a class system. Not as defined and protected as what was drafted but speaking of those Europeans … I’m sure native Americans appreciate your defense of their culture that was wiped out by those Europeans. This is what happens with unrestricted migration … I think you stepped in that one, brother. 🙂

          • Just A Citizen says:

I didn’t step in a thing. The impact of mass migration is documented. And yes, the Red Man should have had better immigration laws. Maybe they should have adopted the New thinking from Europe that created private property.

I always got a kick out of people saying we stole something they didn’t own, and our own Govt. signing treaties over land that neither side owned.

          • I thought you were in favor of unrestricted migration?

            Soldier: 2

Several could be listed with multiple occupations. I listed GW as a soldier. but he was also a planter. Most served as soldiers during the Revolution. One of the listed politicians started life as a financial clerk. Most had college educations but not all including Ben Franklin.

  15. I just read an article that quotes a DOJ official that said they wanted to go into Mar-A-Lago quietly to avoid the political fallout. Now if I planned a quiet raid, I would not use 30 officers and over a dozen black SUVs. I would also shut off the d— blue lights.

Now I would also like to know the content of the documents seized. Are these things truly associated with government secrets or are they documents that reveal the level of corruption that the DOJ wants to hide?

On the NY civil suite. They claim that Trump altered property valuations. First, the banks have their own assessors and should have the ability to discount any over valuations. The same goes for the city, they also have assessors that can compare like properties and determine if the valuation is correct. Valuations for tax purposes and loans can be different. For the insurance companies, the valuation determines the risk which determines the premium. If Trump undervalues the property, he receives less if there is a loss. If he overvalues it, he pays unnecessary premiums. In any case it is always buyer beware.

    • Another thought, property valuations for tax purposes are public domain. Are the banks and insurance companies too stupid to look them up?

      • Probably too corrupt to give a shit. Same goes for the IRS. Their “excuse” for not nailing people like Trump (and there are THOUSANDS of them) was they didn’t have the resources to go after big money. It sure is a mystery how all of these scams work so well in a capitalist economy.

      • Well, guys, it looks like Bunker Boy has more blood on his hands. Some moron supporter of his tried to take out an FBI office … didn’t go well. All over the BIG LIE. Frankly, I think you guys have a bigger problem. These are the people you embrace? 🙂

Involved once in a Federal case where my boss actually, on the advice of the lender (a Freddie Mac seller-servicer), put an estimated rent roll down instead of the actual which did not exist since the building was 80% vacant under renovation when the loan was applied for. The final rent roll, achieved well BEFORE the loan was granted exceeded the estimate by 20%. They still indicted him, financially ruined him, seized all his properties but the jury acquitted him. So a Pyrrhic victory! Hoorah! His name in the industry was blacklisted. Do business with him and the Feds wouldn’t do business with you.

    • The FACT they told the Secret Service about the “raid/seige/attack, etc.”) means nothing. Nor, apparently, does it mean anything that Trump himself won’t release the warrant or the items taken from his home. And better than all of this is the possibility the WSJ is right and somebody gave the information up. I LOVE that. 🙂

      • Don, Jr. said they would not give the lawyers on site the warrant, only showed it to them at 10′ away. So who said Trump had a copy? Did the warrant contain a gag order? There is a lot of assumptions, speculations and just plain guessing going on and not many real facts.

Good morning SUFA. Grab a cup of jo’ and enjoy.

  18. Yeah, I’m sure Bunker Boy has been enlightened about the 5th after claiming anyone who took it must be guilty. He advances so quickly, doesn’t he? He’s evolved! 🙂

    • Of course then there’s this: The UPSIDE to this is the following: The 5th CAN NOT be used against you in a CRIMINAL PROCEEDING.

BUT … it can be used against you in a CIVIL PROCEEDING. So, a jury can hold it against Bunker Boy for taking the 5th in the NY AG’s investigation into his company (a CIVIL case). Goodbye Trump Organization?

    • Just A Citizen says:

      charlie

Yes, some people learn and evolve.

“I once asked, ‘If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?’ Now I know the answer to that question,” Trump said in a statement on Wednesday. “When your family, your company, and all the people in your orbit have become the targets of an unfounded, politically motivated Witch Hunt supported by lawyers, prosecutors, and the Fake News Media, you have no choice.”

      • I’m flabbergasted (seriously) at the amount of credibility you continue to give a pathological liar and cheat. It truly is amazing. All the lawsuits regarding the workers and contactors he stiffed over the years (3500+), all the bankruptcies, all the lies this clown has been caught in, his attempt to overthrow an election, etc., and you believe he “evolved”. Sweet Jesus, no wonder he collected HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS in this phony “defense fund” …

        • Just A Citizen says:

          charlie

I do no give him any credibility. It is you I am arguing with, not Mr. Trump. Your argument is just one more straw man at its core.

You criticized him for taking the 5th because he once said that indicated guilt. You did this to make him out a hypocrite. But as it turned out he had already addressed his change of view on the matter. So your accusation was just emotional knee jerking. Although, given where you get your news you probably didn’t see Mr. Trump’s quote.

    • Charlie, instead of denigrating the man for his actions, ask yourself what you would do in this situation. It is very easy to find a contradiction is someone’s testimony that can be turned into perjury. The questions they ask are nuanced, often misleading, and designed to entrap. Memories are never perfect and as you get older you will discover never complete or always in chronological order. It is the 1/n effect. You are trying to recall a single fact out of n facts where n is increasing exponentially. On top of that, do you think that Trump actually does his own taxes or finances. He probably has dozens of lawyers and accountants doing the work, so his detailed knowledge will be limited. One slip on the details and they have him nailed for perjury. No, Charlie, I suspect that you would do exactly the same thing if in his shoes.

      • Of course he should take the fifth! I’m not doubting that for a second. If they ever let a pathological liar try and talk himself out of criminal charges, there’d be another couple dozen charges for perjury. I’m poking fun at him because of all the BS he used in his campaign about taking the 5th. He knew back then why people take it (mostly because they have something to hide), but also to avoid perjury. Nobody on this planet, except “possibly” Hillary Clinton, should be more worried about perjury charges than Trump. I’m amazed he found lawyers other than the clown car of them he used to try and overturn the election.

  19. S Kent Troy says:

    WHAT IF?
Donald J. Trump, not as dumb as Nixon TOOK the picture of the papers thrown in the toilet and fed it to a leaker for laughs. Just think, innumerable FBI agents combing 5,000 gallons of raw sewage to find the golden bullet.

    • So, If WaPo’s report is true and Bunker Boy took nuclear related documents to his home in Florida, why?

Could it be he planned (or already did) sell them?

Could it be he planned to throw ketchup on them?

Is there any good reason for him to have nuclear related documents?

And what will his loyal supporters think of him if he did have those documents?

What will they think if he planned or did sell them?

So far, Bunker Boy has remained silent … but his sycophants on FOX and everywhere else in MAGA Media are already touting the “planted evidence” theory of Trumpism.

Bunker Boy is singing now …

      • I’ll go with planted evidence. Did we ever get an itemized list of what was taken?

I’ll also go with Trump set the trap. Reports are now that his team watched the raid in real time while sitting in NY. Security cameras never did get shut down.

Charlie. Dude! Trump remains silent? HE’S THE ONE WHO BROKE THE NEWS OF THE RAID

Your questions are about equal to mine. If an elephant walks through your backyard, how many pancakes does it take to fill a canoe?

      • How does anyone know what documents are involved. We learned over the last 6 years to not trust any leaks coming from the FBI and DOJ. All is just pure speculation and rumor until we see real information. As for WaPo vs FOX, look back at the Mueller investigation and see who got it right. It wasn’t WaPo despite all their awards.

      • Well, let’s fact it……that was planted evidence before and, as usual, the person who planted it never even got a phone call……so there is relevance to the “planted evidence” theory. There is only one reason not to allow Trump representatives to not watch the raid….there is only one reason that the cameras were disabled, and there is only one reason to block off the driveways. But that is another thing….

I watched a CNN special this morning on the vote about to be taken on this ((((ahem)))) inflation reduction bill…..during this special, they showed a clip of Janet Yellen saying that the addition of 89 thousand agents will not increase the examination of the middle class more that what it is now. Then CNN showed a scale of the last two years of investigations….and lo and behold…..72% of the investigations and audits were on people who made $200,000 or less…..with 60% of the 72 investigating those who made less than $120,000………………….you have to listed to her statements carefully…she said that there will be no increase in the current trend. Now, let us extrapolate……it is already at 72%, so therefore 72% of the new agents will examine in the same trend……consequently, while the percentage will not rise, the base will be expanded and the middle class is going to get hammered.

If CNN has a special on it and they reported it…….it must be really bad.

        • And there you are … proof positive that Bunker Boy was right all along. He “could shoot somebody in the middle of Fifth Avenue” … and his sycophantic suckers would still defend and vote for him. Everybody is lying except the pathological liar. Everybody is cheating except the inveterate cheater. Everybody is out to get him … the poor soul. I think you guys need to rally around Bunker Boy and make the next Knucklehead Revolution a bit more impressive than the first one. And don’t forget … no videos. 🙂

          • Never said that, my friend…..I am only saying that there was planted evidence before that has escaped scrutiny from the DOJ……that much is clear……

Now…bring me evidence of nuclear codes. If you can do that…..I will be on your side on this particular incident. If there were nuke codes, then go to court, prove it….and put him in jail. Do it now……Right now and do not wait until November. Waiting until election time makes it proof positive that it is a political hit. All I require is proof, Charlie. Not innuendo…not unnamed sources..not informed sources…….take the man to public trial and provide the truth…and then…and only then, will I say anyone is guilty. Until then, the facts are that this is unprecedented and the public sees this as a farce…..for now.

Proof……or as we say in the business world….”Show me the money”.

            • Are they too stupid to change the passwords when the guard changes?

            • I don’t think anyone said there were nuclear codes, sir. I don’t think anyone said anything more than there were documents that may have referenced nuclear weapons. And it wasn’t confirmed at all yet, so … the bottom line is it was illegal to bring anything (ANYTHING) home and even after a subpoena back in June when they turned over 15 boxes, they still held on to other boxes of documents. Clearly illegal and that’s all there is to that. One box would be evidence. Just one document would be evidence. I’ll say this much, no matter what they find or don’t find, it won’t come close to three Trump appointed/headed agencies losing their text messages for 2 days in January, 2021 … now that was some real conspiracy shit there. 🙂

              • S Kent Troy says:

Washington Post did! The national archives said today that despite the fact Obama seems to have perhaps millions of documents, they are NOT, repeat NOT under his control his though apparently they are NOT in the national Archives ????????!!!!!!!

Ans YOU thought the Deep state ended with the FBI, DOJ, ATF, DOS,

          • By the way, you never did respond to the Janet Yellen thing…what say you?

            • I don’t think I saw the question. Fire away … and understand I have no use for either party and most (if not all) of their appointees. They are ALL (both parties) shills for a system that is permanently flawed and will collapse on itself within a generation or two.

  24. Charlie, you said “I am laughing my ass off at the defense of a megalomaniac in this joint. By the way, has the “law and order” president issued a statement denouncing the attempted murder of FBI agents yet? ” I have never heard this before. Can you direct me to the source of this?

    • Wait….are you talking about this?

FBI agent charged with attempted murder in 2020 shooting

    • Maybe this one?

Pulaski Constable Gary Baldock formally pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court to the attempted murder of an FBI agent during a standoff with agents who were serving a warrant against him.

Baldock’s agreement stipulates that he will give up the right to appeal both his guilty plea and his conviction by a jury last month on charges of Conspiracy Against Civil Rights and Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.

      • That’s the way to do it. Keep ignoring the FACT another MAGA moron tried to shoot up and FBI field office yesterday, but like all those patriotic warriors in the MAGA army of mutants, he didn’t count on getting himself killed (or arrested). 🙂 In the meantime, Trump has provided Anita, my love, with the excuse we all knew was coming. “They planted evidence.” Sure they did, Donnie. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-nuclear-weapons-fbi-mar-a-lago-b2143855.html

        • Have not heard about anything yesterday……..but then again, I am on the border and do not tune in frequently.

          • An armed man clad in body armor who tried to breach the FBI’s Cincinnati office on Thursday was shot and killed by police after he fled the scene and engaged in an hourslong standoff in a rural part of the state, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The confrontation came as officials warned of an increase in threats against federal agents in the days following a search of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

The man is believed to have been in Washington in the days leading up to the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection and may have been present at the Capitol on the day of the attack, according to a law enforcement official briefed on the matter. The official could not discuss details of the investigation publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.
The suspect was identified as Ricky Shiffer, 42, according to the law enforcement official. He was not charged with any crimes in connection with the Jan. 6 attack, the official said. Federal investigators are examining whether Shiffer may have had ties to far-right extremist groups, including the Proud Boys, the official said.

This one? Just like an idiot….taking a nail gun to a gunfight? Very strange dude, indeed. Have not found a reference to MAGA yet…..I see references to POSSIBLY being at the Jan 6 thing……..so, since this happened yesterday, what would you expect trump to say before any investigation has happened. I also have not seen references where Proud BOys or any other extremist group is linked to MAGA…..or is that an assumption that you wish to make.

            • He posted ALL OVER Trumps Truth Social calling for the killing of FBI agents. One would think the “law and order” President would condemn the attack as soon as it happened. Not a word since.

              • Well, I do not know what Truth Social is as this is the only social media I participate in……so I will take your word for it. I assume this truth Social is a (obviously, I guess) social media platform?

          • Sorry about that, Sir. Yes, a Trump boy went ballistic and ranted on social media over and over and then finally acted but went about it as if he was hoping for suicide by cop. It’s just more blood on Trump’s hands because it ALL has to do with the BIG LIE and his perpetuation of it. I look forward to him either going to jail or one of his knuckleheads realizing what a profound piece of shit he is and taking his vengeance on the guy who deserves it (not some poor bastard FBI agent doing his job).

          • Yeah, so why aren’t you “patriots” out there giving the “hoople” a hand? Did you guys go to the Capital on January 6? Did you take pictures? 🙂 And it’s Noam not Norm, but hey, it’s not as easy to remember as Bunker Boy.

            • S Kent Troy says:

My apologies to Norm. I knew it was Noam but thought you would enjoy correcting me. Known Norm and met him back in ’67. Tried to radicalize me and my buddies at the NSA convention. I much preferred my meeting with Tim Leary. Even on acid he made more sense than the other guy.

              • 🙂 Norm and Noam have more brains in the tips of their fingers … whenever you doubt it, check out his Firing Line debates with Buckley … no contest.

  25. Dan Bongino has a good show today. He interviewed a former FBI agent.

    https://rumble.com/v1frfz7-an-fbi-agent-blows-the-cover-off-the-mar-a-lago-raid-ep.-1829-the-dan-bongi.html

  26. Charlie….ok, I get it. I looked up truth Social and read a few things on it. I classify it as a “gossip rag” much like Facebook and such where people can post whatever they want. The point I guess you are making is the silence of trump condemning the attack (which is something out of Saturday Night live in its hey day) of going after an FBI agent with a nail gun? But he then runs and gets in his car with an ak47 (non US made weapon, by the way) and fires bullets and stuff and then gets himself killed while I would have killed the idiot when he shot a nail gun but that is another story.

Yes, Trump should have probably said something about it. But (here is where my what-about-ism takes over) at least call a spade a spade. These social media outlets are full of posts about going after people….like MAGA supporters, SCOTUS judges, parents, killing police in Portland…etc..etc and no one condemns those….Biden has been silent so I guess you are pointing out that ALL OF THESE should be condemned by sitting POTUS and former POTUS.

If that is your point, then, yes, things should have been said. But all this anti police stuff started way before Trump. It SHOULD BE CONDEMNED BY ALL…….

But your point is made. This is why I do not read social media rags and give little to no credence to news media that quote social media rags. I will have to glean my information on here when everyone posts links……but I will say this. There is no social media out there that I would give the benefit of doubt to….None.

    • S Kent Troy says:

      Why should TRUMP say anything?

Cops are shot down it seems daily by various nut cases, some political and nary a word from the White House.

      • Because he’s the “law and order” President. The FBI director Trump appointed and Garland made statements … Biden chirped in as well … only the “law and order” president kept his yep shut. Looks like Bunker Boy scored a hat trick with those documents. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rj_wogzXlyU

        • Just A Citizen says:

HE IS NOT THE PRESIDENT. Thought you people knew that.

          • Depends who you ask. I think he is…

            Relax Charlie. 🙂 🙂 🙂

          • Then why, oh why does he continue to proclaim himself to be the “law and order” president? I’m totally relaxed, Anita, my love. I’ll be less so when he gets another pass or is convicted and then pardoned by the next GOP President and/or the Georgia governor. 🙂

            • And wait a minute there, Hojo! If he won the election and claims he won and is the rightful President … don’t tell me you accepted the words of the 60 courts, his AGs, DOJ, etc. You no longer believe “team crazy?”

  27. So, Charlie, given the fact that this information came from Politico, an un-trusted source of info, but never the less it was printed. I call your attention to the following from Politico….

“A search warrant newly unsealed on Friday reveals that the FBI is investigating Donald Trump for a potential violation of the Espionage Act and removed classified documents from the former president’s Florida estate earlier this week.

    Key word……”potential violation”…..nothing concrete….as of yet.

“that Trump possessed documents including a handwritten note; documents marked with “TS/SCI,” which indicates one of the highest levels of government classification;”

    Key Word…. “indicates”…..notthing concrete…as of yet.

“underscore the extraordinary national security threat that federal investigators believed the missing documents presented.”

    Key Word…..investigators “believed”….nothing concrete..as of yet.

So far, Politico has kept itself out of trouble by not accusing Trump,
    ====================================

Now, as Politico reported…….”Other items on the list indicate the presence of classified material, describing them as “miscellaneous top secret documents” and “miscellaneous confidential documents.”

IF and that is IF this is true, and the documents are not marked declassified, then they should throw the book at Trump. I hold a TS/SSIR and a TS/SCI clearance. I take my oath very seriously…and if he is in possession of any classified material that has not been declassified…….he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

My only objection would be the double standard that appears to be in process. There is clearly a deep state…..everyone knows this, even you. You have referenced it many times….This deep state is fearful of Trump and the fact that he can, and probably will if re-elected, expose Washington for what it really is….he is the only one that can actually crack the vaults of deep state. That said……if he does, indeed, have possession of classified documents and they are not de-classified. Bury him……then go after all the others because a precedent has now been set….The republicans will be in power again at some point…and since the Dems have fired a shot across the bow (and maybe a shot amidships), you will see an unprecedented “revenge” factor. It is going to get ugly and you know what? The socialist party will not gain any ground because people, myself included, associate the Socialist Party with the left….with the democrats.

Now, here is my belief…..IF Trump is indicted and found guilty of anything, of course his Presidential bid is over and that was the objective. I suspect that nothing in those boxes will rise to the indictment state and the Dems should be satisfied that they defeated Trump, not at the ballot box, but in the court of public opinion.

But, we shall see, wont we?

    • About to leave the office. I’ll revisit when I’m home, sir.

    • “There is clearly a deep state…..everyone knows this, even you. You have referenced it many times”

I mostly joke about it, but to me the deep state are the oligarchs who rule the roost (the 1%), the government and its agencies I consider their tools, but they can only set policy up to a point because the man in the WH does have executive powers and war powers that are pretty much all powerful, especially if/when their party is in control of the Congress.

“This deep state is fearful of Trump and the fact that he can, and probably will if re-elected, expose Washington for what it really is….he is the only one that can actually crack the vaults of deep state.”

Here is where I totally disagree. Trump is a threat to the norms of the establishment, but even more so to the health of the nation. He is an ignorant man. He doesn’t have a clue about history. He is ONLY a threat when 51% of the population is willing to follow him … America is one dumb country, but it’s not THAT dumb yet. His best friend in any election is the absurd Electoral College. Without it, he can’t win.

“That said……if he does, indeed, have possession of classified documents and they are not de-classified. Bury him……then go after all the others because a precedent has now been set….The republicans will be in power again at some point…and since the Dems have fired a shot across the bow (and maybe a shot amidships), you will see an unprecedented “revenge” factor. It is going to get ugly and you know what? The socialist party will not gain any ground because people, myself included, associate the Socialist Party with the left….with the democrats.”

You don’t have to remind me how hypocritical the Dems are, sir. What they did to Sanders in 2016 and 2020 is all you need to know. As far as their concern about “democracy” go, the FACT they’re funding MAGA candidates with the assumption they’re easier to best in the general election (plus their bullshit SuperDelegates) is all you need to know about how “democratic” they really are. If they fail, they’ll deserve the revenge factor.

The Democrats are about as socialist as Trump is honest. That is just silly, but you have nothing to fear, the corporations won and there will be no socialism in the United States for “we the people” while PLENTY for the corporations ($50 billion to silicon valley the latest corporate welfare). All we get going forward is a lot of income inequality and sooner or later, the end of empire. Frankly, I’ll be dead by then, but I’d be looking forward to it on my deathbed.

“Now, here is my belief…..IF Trump is indicted and found guilty of anything, of course his Presidential bid is over and that was the objective. I suspect that nothing in those boxes will rise to the indictment state and the Dems should be satisfied that they defeated Trump, not at the ballot box, but in the court of public opinion.”

I suspect this particular investigation is one of several that “may” preclude him from running again (there really are so many and ALL of them legitimate). I suspect this will be used to pile on potential jurors and prosecutors but nothing will come of the document scandal, certainly no indictment. Personally, I’d like to see this piece of shit indicted for EVERYTHING, but I’d also like my beloved New York State Buffalo Bills to win a super bowl before I die and that’s still a long shot, no matter what the “experts” say.

      • Good one. Likely no indictment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhVKc99Ko8s

      • “I mostly joke about it, but to me the deep state are the oligarchs who rule the roost (the 1%), the government and its agencies I consider their tools, but they can only set policy up to a point because the man in the WH does have executive powers and war powers that are pretty much all powerful, especially if/when their party is in control of the Congress.”

It really does not matter who or what the “deep state” is, now does it? Just that it exists.

        • And what exactly do you think the reason is a deep state wants Trump so bad? I suspect it’s the democrats and about 55% of the population. 🙂

          • No on the population ….they have no clue as to what a deep state is nor the power it wields. I wonder, if the raid turns up nothing and there is no indictment, I think that the population has a change of mind about things. I have several friends that are avid trump haters and they have even said that the raid is bullshit and a political hit job and then followed it up with….whatever it takes, fake or not.

Trump is the only one that actually has the balls to attack the deep state but he cannot do it unless he is in the white house. He can cause havoc with simple executive orders…he can hire the ones to clean house. But…what do you get in exchange….more deep state? I suspect..yes.

            • Let me ask you a VERY serious question, sir. Do you think the ones he did hire (Giuliani, Eastman, Powell and Clarke) are the ones to clean house? Please think before you answer that question. And if you don’t know what they were involved with regarding the “fake certifications” please watch the hearing that dealt with that (it’s the one with the DOJ, when they attempted to install Clarke as the AG so TRUMP could use DOJ letterhead to declare the election a fraud. Please, please, please watch that one. And try and remember that except for two poll workers, EVERY SINGLE WITNESS WHO TESTIFIED AT THE HEARINGS IS A REPUBLICAN … most of them appointed by Trump and his crew.

                • Yes…..saw that…please re-read my last sentence. But…I would surmise it exchanges one for another one. The DOJ, right now is partisan….it is not independent. It is political, pure and simple.

When I said that the deep state is afraid of Trump, he is the only one that will reach deep enough to upset it. He is NOT on their payroll or they would not care. Now, as I said before…and I will ask again…why is everyone afraid of him? He is a loose canon and they know that. He is not predictable. That is the one thing that I liked about him….unpredictable…. and the world was afraid of him as well. They just did not know how to read him…and still do not but, like him or not, he still got things done with NATO and the UN that no one else has done. How many time did I hear that ‘HE HAS HIS HANDS ON THE NUKE BUTTON”……but, as it turned out, he is the only one of the last three POTUS’ that did not start a war. He was correct on the Paris accords and he was correct on the Iran issue……this is what I meant by loose canon. He did not walk in the same lock step as the previous POTUS individuals….and that is what scares everyone.

You do not like him and that is obvious and I respect that but he did do some things that I was in favor of…Now I have explained to you that I do not follow the lock step of the MAGA crowd, although I do have a red MAGA hat (dont wear it but I have one).. There are things he did that I was not in favor of, but his dealings are nowhere near that of the Biden’s and his corruption is kindergarten compared to the Biden’s. But set aside the whataboutism…and look at precedents and double standards. This smacks of third world dictatorship.

The one thing that has me worried is the raid on his home and the horrible double standard that seems to be followed. Not because it is just Trump…I think the precedent that has been set is totally third world. There better be indictments out of this or I fear that this raid will do more to get Trump re-elected than anything else.

Indict the man and try him….that is the only thing that will work. As I stated before, I have strong democrat friends that do not like what happened.

Did I answer your question? I think I did the BF long edition.

                  • “The DOJ, right now is partisan….it is not independent. It is political, pure and simple.” okay, no you REALLY CONFUSED ME. The DOJ that REJECTED Trump’s bullshit was non-partisan (obviously) but now that a Democratic appointee is the AG it’s automatically partisan? Do you not see where your subjectivity precludes objectivity?

                    • Read me carefully, sir. I will repeat it. The DOJ is partisan. End of sentence. It matters not who the POTUS is…..if you were POTUS, you would assign your own man or woman to head up the DOJ…..that makes it partisan….yes?

                  • “why is everyone afraid of him? He is a loose canon and they know that. He is not predictable. That is the one thing that I liked about him….unpredictable…. and the world was afraid of him as well.”

Do you REALLY believe that horseshit? He is a worldwide joke. The only fear anyone had of him was his total incompetence and all his bluster that went NOWHERE. The world thinks the same as most here do, that he’s one GIGANTIC ASSHOLE. Donald Trump never did care about “America” nor would he EVER care about America. He cares about himself. Not even his children. He would throw them under the bus in a heartbeat if he could escape what’s facing him now. I find it amazing how much faith you have in a total incompetent imbecile. he’s a con-man, sir. Always was, always will be. He’s a mafia don wannabe (and most of them suffer from similar narcicisitic maladies.

                    • Again, read me carefully………I said he was a loose canon. I do not care if he was/is an ass hole….that does not matter. I said he did not walk in lock step with all the past administrations. I am tired of “kow towing” to the world. They, the world, did not like the fact that he stood up to them. You and I are on the opposite ends of the political spectrum, sir. I understand that. If I were POTUS, I would pull out of the UN completely. I supported him on his stance with NATO….I also supported his stance on the Paris Climate accords and the Iran nuclear (one sided) deal. That does not make me a Nazi, (you have never called me that) , it does not make me Islamophobic, it does not make me a radical because I do not believe in the climate accords. It makes me an individual. There are many things I do not like about Trump….many. But you know this about me.

                      Please, sir, read me carefully.

                  • “He was correct on the Paris accords and he was correct on the Iran issue……” that is a matter of opinion. I think he was right about NATO, but not Paris nor Iran.

                  • I’ll give you the double standard on Biden. He and his son should be in a cell … right next door to Trump’s cell.

                  • Your answers are always appreciated, sir. And believe it or not, there are a few things I like that he did … to wit, #1 didn’t start another war … but he did continue pressing for the overthrow of a democratically elected government in Venezuela … he and a bunch of other Presidents who believe America gets to rule the world.

                    • Two points here…..Second one first….America does not need to rule the world. Unfortunately, there is a world order clique (Buffet, Soros, Koch’s, etal) that want to rule the world and they are very close to this because of their money and shady assed politicians the world over that sell their souls…….your next point, there are NO democratically elected governments anywhere in the third world…Chile, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Honduras, Panama…..even Costa Rica and Belize are dictatorships under the disguise of Democracy. Mexico is not Democratically run nor elected and now (recently) Canada has followed suit.

I am especially conversant on Mexico…..we have lands there….sort of. Have to go into that with you some day. My dad was a very astute businessman. He got us involved in ranching in Mexico and I curse it to this very day.

  28. We get a dozen unsolicited sales calls a day. Sometimes it is the same person several times in the day. Today I got one about funeral planning. So I said, “Glad you called. I have a stiff in the basement that is stinking up the place. Can you take it off my hands?” Dead silence.

        • It’s the word “Left” that is a joke. You guys are so full of shit when you use that term. Obama, who fundamentally changed NOTHING, EXCEPT to increase the socialism/welfare for corporations (insurance companies) … who left the bush tax cuts you guys applauded (as Biden has done with Trumps tax breaks for the wealthy) … keep using the bullshit terms because it reminds me I’m talking to walls. 🙂

That does NOT include getaways who have something to hide so that they’d not even have a cursory examination before they get their free flight and phone . Yes I FUCKING want them stopped and if it takes goddam landmines (with appropriate audible and visual warnings) to do it fine. Now if every other country in the world including Mexico and Canada does not allow the border jumpers to jump their borders then I guess they are NAZI’s too in which case I guess I am in good company and should just snap my nazi fingers and have you and the rest of the spirogyra rounded up.

You come across as the “tough guy” New Yorker. Bullshit. When I was on Boynton and Bruckner or 141 and Lennox or East 97th and Clarkson in the ’80’s and ’90’
I saw where this shit winds up and managed to survive it without hating anyone too much except the politicians who allowed the regular folks to be abused by the bad guys. .

And I’d watch that word “nazi” . I not only don’t like it but have been known to get upset. Right now I see your prodding rhetoric as far, far beyond normal commentary and frankly doubt you even belong in polite society any longer (you ae in fact a master of the ad hominum, shit like your buddy Norm Chomsky encourages) . Oh, sure, you could be a “jokester” doing this crap for laughs or you could just one damned dangerous lunatic.

We all have seen the Godfather and how the bad guys preyed on their own people. Before going “public” the very same is happening today in the Salvadoran, Columbian, Mexican, Guatemalan, Ecuadorian, Guatemalan communities in our midst and YOU do not give a fucking shit as we used to say on the block. In one of the greatest “New York” genre books ever written, The “Last Angry Man” Dr. Sam Ableman, the hero had a word for folks like you, actually a lot of words but the best, I think was “crap merchant”. I like the sound. I think for my blood pressure I should just ring the bell, close the book and blow out the candle on my dealings with you.

                • Wow, so much to deal with in this one.

“Yes I FUCKING want them stopped and if it takes goddam landmines (with appropriate audible and visual warnings) to do it fine.”

Why warnings? Why not use napalm?

“We all have seen the Godfather and how the bad guys preyed on their own people.”

Have you seen the history of the United States, by any chance (talk about preying on their own people, not to mention those around the world). Seriously, you need to read what you type up before spewing it. It’s not only funny, it’s absurd.

“You come across as the “tough guy” New Yorker. Bullshit. When I was on Boynton and Bruckner or 141 and Lennox or East 97th and Clarkson in the ’80’s and ’90’s. Imagine people wanting more for themselves … how horrible. By the way, my grandfather owned buildings in the South Bronx, aka Fort Apache. He gave them away for tax breaks (donated them to Chin Gigante’ priest brother). If you want a tough part of NY, try East New York in Brooklyn. “When you were on” … spent a few hours there, did you? And in the time you were there, you figured out all the ills of people redlined into ghettos by capitalist real estate barons. I was brought up in Canarsie (one town from East New York) and when real estate offices sold to minorities, they were bombed for their efforts. Now Canarsie is 98% island blacks (and houses there cost anywhere from 500K to 1 million). You don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. As for “polite society” … you don’t get to pull that bullshit after making some nasty comments of your own. You don’t like my posts, don’t respond to them. Or block me. I won’t hang myself, trust me. When I refer to Nazi or Nazi wannabe, look at the context and maybe your blood pressure won’t erupt.

“Before going “public” the very same is happening today in the Salvadoran, Columbian, Mexican, Guatemalan, Ecuadorian, Guatemalan communities in our midst and YOU do not give a fucking shit as we used to say on the block. 31. AHEM……..JAC…I am exile yet again…..what does it take to get on the “good boy” list?

  32. And remember, he LOVES America! And so do the scam artists following his lead. 🙂

    • Yep…..like Nike…..and Nike still does it today. Take a look. Another company that does it is Lemax….they were forced, however, to change it to “assembled in America vs made in America. This is wide spread….same as the car manufactures used to do…my spousal units car shows “assembled in America by American workers”. Maybe so….but was made in Japan.

But the issue you want is not ripping out tags…..you just liked the thing because it was Trump bashing and that article is not correct in the outsourcing claims but a quick check of the US commerce Department will show you the levels of outsourcing under differing Presidential regimes. I think most startling to me was Regan and Clinton…..makes Trump and Obama look like romper room rejects.

      • Cheap labor……

That is where business will go.

        • Yep, and that’s a direct requirement (if you want to win at business) of capitalism … has ZERO to do with “patriotism” or anything other than profit … so, with a world OVERLOADED with cheap labor opportunity, how will America sustain itself (or sustain all the CORPORATE WELFARE/SOCIALISM) it continues to dole out? The answer: It won’t.

      • Exactly, sir. You make my point. Of course I love that Trump was caught doing it back in 2015-16. The difference is he hugs the flag and tells the rubes he’s there for them and American jobs and he makes fools of them. Every time he or his minions get caught in a lie, I do love it.

  33. Charlie…….my bad………I did use the terminology of “ right now the DOJ is partisan” . I does appear that the way I wrote that, it means only now…..I hope I sufficiently corrected that in my clarification later. Apologies.

    • You’re fine, sir. Appreciate the correction. I know YOU cannot be listening to this lunatic (the Pillow Guy) and hopefully he is too embarrassing to consider someone who would “clean the swamp” … but CPAC, among other lunatics, seems to love him. • Yes, I saw that. Mentioned it to my wife. Weird.

    • They brought her out of that house, wrapped her head to toe in a white sheet, and she sprung up to a sitting position on that gurney! Good thing she was strapped in or who knows what would have happened. That’s some creepy stuff right there. So maybe she did die twice. Yikes.

  35. Note to DOJ: You are losing in the court of public opinion. You better come up with some indictments. And, if you do, you better have an airtight case. Even my liberal acquaintances are beginning to raise eyebrows.

  36. Lock him up! 🙂

  37. All these news reports are coffee house crap……..innuendos and informed sources and such. As I said before…nothing matters until an indictment and trial and a guilty verdict. Until then……non starter.

    • Yeah, but you gotta admit, it’s fun. It’s the ONE thing I’ll miss about Trump going forward. I consider him and Biden about the same as regards how they affect the working class and poor, which is to say only negatively, but Biden is definitely brain deficient and Trump only seems that way because he’s so stupid. At least Trump does and says some funny shit. I mean, Biden’s antics are pretty funny too, but nothing compares to Bunker Boy’s rants. He’s contradicted himself so many times on these stupid documents, it’s become just another set of gaffs. On the funny vs. funny meter, Trump is the “best” funny. And you’re right, sir. Indict, prosecute and convict. If they televise one of the trials, I’ll be taking a leave of absence. 🙂

  38. Hey….I just had a thought…..all those new IRS agents….send them to Ukraine! That’s where our tax dollars are…..

(I hope JAC was drinking coffee)

  39. I do hope some of yous watch this. Why? Because I get to remind you that EVERY SINGLE WITNESS … and ALL THE TESTIMONY is from REPUBLICANS THAT VOTED FOR TRUMP, WORKED FOR TRUMP and/or were APPOINTED BY TRUMP. Here are the attempts to change state election results. The best thing about this is what I said about 6 months ago regarding Trump and his cadre of conspirators. He always wanted to be a mob boss and Rudy sure used RICO statutes to take the mob down … now those same charges, in my opinion, should be aimed at all of these traitors.

  40. Posting this for two reasons. One, to show the Colonel what a “Truth” is from Trump’s Truth Social platform. Two, for Charlie’s benefit, since he says Trump remains silent about the raid. Now why would Trump call for unsealing the affidavit, which the DOJ has requested to keep sealed? The affidavit reveals the reason to issue the warrant. What was the reason for the warrant? Reports are that its a National Archives issue. Skeptics think its more fishing about J6.
So who is trying to CYA? Trump? No.

    • Anita, my love. This has been debunked over and over already. The reason they won’t release the affidavit is because it will reveal the WITNESSES (plural) and hinder OTHER investigations. Why do you continue to believe anything this lunatic spews? He’s been caught in so many lies over these documents, he may set a new record for lying. 🙂 He’s a pathological liar going back throughout his miserable, spoiled life.

      • Ahhh! The old We can’t reveal because of ongoing investigation trick. They have investigated Trump for years. The process is the punishment. I trust Trump more than the district of corruption or the media.

        • And if he’s indicted, prosecuted and convicted? 🙂

          Hoax! 🙂

          • Then he is history.

            • S Kent Troy says:

No sir, then he is an early victim of our very own NKVD.

              • Good point.

              • Oy vey.

                • Oh Charlie, quit it. His point is well taken…may not be true. My opinion is still out on a lot of this. I am waiting to see….but what I don’t want to see from you is that if there is no indictment, then start complaining about the system if it does not go the way that you believe it should. remember, there is still al awful lot of people that did vote for Trump and still back him. The Dems are making it real easy to back with the shit they are pulling right now. (Think tax bills, incentive crushing stimulus, etc) I am telling you, the Mira Largo raid is hurting the dems and it is really hurting the credibility of the DOJ and the FBI.

I have very serious doubts about the credibility of these institutions, not just from the Mira Largo raid, but from the past that goes back to Nixon and the weaponizing of the FBI, IRS, DOJ, and EPA. I am seeing across the board disgust from liberals. independents, and republicans alike.

                  • :::hearing a southern drawl as the Colonel says Mira Largo:::

I’ve been reading in comment sections of people who were Trump voters and who are greatful for him exposing the corruption, but who are/were ready to move on from Trump to DeSantis. But now, as a big FU over the Mara Lago business, are firmly back on Team Trump. Plus, I keep saying, black conservatives online are gaining more and more traction with blacks. There are several I follow with subscribers in the millions.

                  • Me thinks you seriously overestimate the percentage of Americans (dumb as they may be) who are repelled by Bunker Boy, Sir. His only chance to win an election in 2024 is if Biden remains in office and runs again and Trump survives the 10,000 investigations. If there is no indictment, you’ll suddenly have faith in those institutions again? 🙂 Think about what you just wrote to me. 🙂

Nope, if there’s no indictment, it’ll be a political decision based on the Dems stupidity about assuming Trump will be easy to beat in 2024. That’s the ONLY reason there wouldn’t be an indictment. If there were any form of justice pertaining to this POS (Bunker Boy), he’d be tried and convicted in Georgia, New York and for seditious conspiracy by the feds. If that happens, I’ll still challenge all and any authority (because it’s what we’re supposed to do–an independent media/not corporate controlled), but I’ll be one happy MF’er.

    • Ummmm….Anita, why is this for my benefit? Did I miss something?

      • Just that you mentioned a few days ago that you didn’t know what Truth Social was. I don’t think anyone has posted a “truth” from that site on SUFA yet.

        • Ahh..ok thank you. I have not looked it up as yet. Thank you

          • Ok Anita….I looked up Truth Social….and spent a couple hours reading through archives and such and I am sorry to say…..it is a conservative Politico. It is biased and full of innuendo no different than the liberal rags out there.

It uses the same terminology of “informed sources”, “confidential informants”, unnamed sources, whistleblowers who wish to remain anonymous….I can’t abide by this. you want truth out there, as I do, then there should be NO informed sources without a name, there should be NO whistleblowers without coming forward with a name and backed up allegations, there should be NO unnamed sources.

I was particularly unimpressed about Trump continuing his diatribe that the election was stolen. He is upset that Pence did his job and certified the election instead of not certifying on innuendo that the electors were not properly counted or that the votes were not properly certified at the state level.

For example, Texas has been very successful in its overhaul of the voting requirements and voter ID is required. (Picture ID). Drop boxes have been eliminated except in supervised areas. No more corner drops, no more going to the local store and put in drop boxes. Absentee voting must be applied for in advance and the signatures on the absentee ballots must match the voter registration. They must be postmarked 24 hours in advance of the voting day and no late ballots are excepted. It is up to the state to make sure its electors are certifiable and not a Federal issue.

I do not know why it takes some states so long to count their ballots. Texas is certified within 24 hours of polls closing. None of these last minute boxes being “found” in someones trunk or a corner of the office.

I know this was a rabbit trail but Pence did his job correctly…and certified the results.

So, I will take Truth Social in the same vein as I will take Politico or any newspaper or TV show….with a grain of salt.

            • Sir, you’re my hero!

“I was particularly unimpressed about Trump continuing his diatribe that the election was stolen. He is upset that Pence did his job and certified the election instead of not certifying on innuendo that the electors were not properly counted or that the votes were not properly certified at the state level.”

            • Wait a second!!! I have never been to that site and am not advocating for it. I grabbed that one “truth” from another site just for display and context only…context about the affidavit.

dangit…gonna be late for work now. Pedal to the metal. 🙂

            • S Kent Troy says:

Sorry sir, way too many questions in this election for my taste. The drop boxes. T he substantiated and NOT discredited (discredited if I may ask by whom and of course how?) “2,000 mules” and of course the 51 “intel” operatives who said Hunter’s laptop was Russian disinformation plus the fact that the Fibbies sat on it since December of 2019. I wonder if anyone really believes that Biden would have been elected let alone NOMINATED had that made the news.

The old man always when I would make the mistake of being “simple” would remind me extraordinary circumstances call for extraordinary actions. Dad used to cite FDR and Lincoln on that. We forget so damn soon the complete, utter chaos that the Covid thing caused.

By the by, how do you like the CDC reforming itself? That gave me a laugh so deep today I almost went off the PA turnpike.

People like “chuck” who had the fucking temerity to call me the Nazi word are a total waste of my time. The pure hateful balderdash he spews is neither funny nor factual. He fits nicely into the “Bolshevik” model I have recently delved into regarding the events of 1917-1918. Those asses took over Russia based entirely on lies. They allowed to Socialists (Kerensky and teh Mensheviks) to do the hard work overthrowing the Czar then stepped in and solidified their power in the ensuing confusion by the simple expedients of lying and being ruthless. So, “chuck” can kiss my ass at high noon on Broadway for all I care. He ain’t funny.

              • And you’re a liar. “People like “chuck” who had the fucking temerity to call me the Nazi word are a total waste of my time.” What I said, you genius (who got the Russian revolution wrong, by the way) was that “you sounded like a Nazi” which isn’t far from the truth when you state you’d plant mines (or something) on the border … yeah, that sounds like a Nazi to me. High Noon on Broadway? I no longer travel to the city (what we NY’ers call Manhattan) and I now live in NJ. Your elections nonsense sounds more Qanon than MAGA, although both are so full of shit, it “looks” like it’s coming out their ears. In case you didn’t notice, the GOP has put forward a bunch of insane candidates who may just lose their general elections (but of course those will be rigged too). So far, bunker boy has lost the house, the senate and the white house …and an awful lot of souls. I still love ya, though. 🙂

        • Isn’t that the site where that knucklehead who got himself killed in Ohio for trying to storm an FBI office posted his crazy shit? Truth Social … oy vey!

          • Could be. We’re surrounded by knuckleheads, ya knucklehead! Charlie, open your mind to the thought that…I’m not saying this guy…just in general…that the deep state is planted firmly in most groups, as in…infiltrating groups. You know, like 2/3 of the knuckleheads involved in the Whitmer kidnapping, or I don’t know, maybe several dozens of people at the J6 rally. Then you have a group of RINOs, and another group of Never Trumpers out and about causing trouble….(cough, goodbye Liz Cheney, cough). Groups like the Oathkeepers and Proud Boys, who we would all have given benefit of the doubt to. But anymore, its…keep your head on a swivel because somebody, somewhere is out for sabotage. All you have left is us MAGA folks who “they” try to smear because we back Trump. But what “they” don’t get is that its bigger than Trump. That’s what really sucks. Oy vey!

        • Ok Anita….I looked up Truth Social….and spent a couple hours reading through archives and such and I am sorry to say…..it is a conservative Politico. It is biased and full of innuendo no different than the liberal rags out there.

  41. It’s always fun looking for Hillary’s shoe.

  42. Canine Weapon says:

Sharing this here for no reason whatsoever. Yup. Just a random comic with no deeper meaning or relevance to anything that may or may not be happening in the world in any way whatsoever. Have a pleasant day.

  43. The “law and order” former President … 🙂

  44. The right’s “HERO” in the Democratic Party exposed … as if the Republican Party (and every politician from either party) doesn’t do the same thing (except Bernie Sanders, of course).

    • Just A Citizen says:

So why exactly is that corruption?

Maybe a lack of objective analysis by yet another wannabe lefty hack.

  45. Curious as to why the DOJ does not want to release the affidavit?

    • Ya know Charlie….the longer they delay things, the more it looks really shady and the more it looks like something could be planted…..what do you think, sir?

      • I think you’re looking for reasons to accuse them, sir. If they sped through it, something tells me you would complain about that too. Apparently, the warrant sat in Garland’s office for 3 weeks before he approved it. I do believe the collective government is out to get him, but he’s sure making it easy for them. I think the dumbest thing the corporate media ever did was cut him off from FB, etc., because nobody does more damage to himself than Trump and his big mouth. Now there’s an issue about some of “team crazy” taking information/data off some states’ polling computers. Count that as another investigation, although some involved have already been prosecuted and/or pled guilty. As far as the documents go, like I said, I fear they’ll use that to take the easy way out of keeping him from running again. He’ll still be dangerous on the sidelines. He needs to be indicted and tried for seditious conspiracy, among other things, and although it’ll never happen, his orange ass needs to be in a prison (where we’d finally see how tough a man he really is, the f’n coward).

        • Apparently, the warrant sat in Garland’s office for 3 weeks before he approved it. Have not researched it but I thought it was 5 months….

I think you’re looking for reasons to accuse them, sir. Wrong again, Padewan. I don’t need excuses to go after anyone…..Just telling you what “appearances” look like and the lay person thinks on appearance.

      • Regarding “planted evidence” … Jesus f’n Christ! 🙂 He’s made so many accusation and excuses, each contradicting the other, it’s comical how ANYONE can choose one and attempt to defend it. You’re way too intelligent to by whatever Donald Trump tells you … there’s a great meme on FB showing the 4 FOX hosts wearing neck braces from whiplash at the load of shit Trump and his lawyers are throwing at the public. Trump = lie. It’s as simple as that.

        • You’re way too intelligent to by whatever Donald Trump tells you Right you are!!

Were you down here, you would be on the street at high noon ready to draw. I am way to intelligent to believe anything a politician says…and that same intelligence extends to reports from media and pundits. I have stated before…indict, convict, and throw away the key. Then, and only then, will I say you were correct. Until then, he is innocent until proved otherwise.

          =========================

Charlie, have you not figured me out yet? I am an independent voter. You know this. I lean conservative. I am a capitalist. I tote my guns and drink Dr Pepper. I am not a right wing religious person. If you wish to worship a lamp-post, that is your business, not mine. I have my likes and dislikes to be sure…for example, I would not walk across the street to piss on Jane Fonda if she were on fire. I think that making profit is just fine. I am conservative…..yes!! But, you already know, that I am a realist. If I can see it, hear it, feel it, touch it, and smell it….It Exists. I do not follow the news media as gospel. So….I think you know that I will weigh all the sides, without innuendo, and make what I consider the correct decision.

          • What exactly do pundits and the media have to do with what you can see with your eyes and hear with your ears? He’s on video. He spews crazy shit all the time (the latest, “The Fascist Bureau of Investigation”) … I’m going to guess (possibly wrongly) you’re not for attacking random FBI agents or police for the sake of a demagogue. I hope you’ll accept the verdicts (if there are any) and not then decide the court was part of the deep state (which I’m already hearing from some lunatics regarding Trump’s inability to hire “good lawyers.” Maybe because he’s burned so many not paying them? Maybe because they know it’s a lost cause? Anyway, we shall see, sir.

    • Apparently, it contains a witness list, among other things. And also apparently, it’s standard operation procedure for prosecutors to make targets/defendants wait for discovery. I don’t care what they do as long as there is an indictment at the end of it.

  46. I know yous want my opinion about last night … So, last night Wyoming chose yet another Trump-backed lunatic to be their single representative in the House … the woman is nuts (and not just a little nuts, she’s bat-shit crazy) … she said Joe Biden is a human trafficker, the election was rigged, and that Donald Trump, someone she once … “In 2016, she condemned Trump as a “racist and xenophobic” candidate who would repel voters Republicans needed to win a national election. … has now fallen under his incredibly potent (to rattlesnakes) spell. And that’s all you need to know about her integrity … there is none.

So, how does one determine conservatism vs. bat-shit crazy? What does this say about the Republicans in Wyoming who voted for the bat-shit crazy candidate? Cheney voted WITH Donald Trump more than 92% of the time (more than his speaker of the house and several other bat-shirt crazy Republican Congresspersons). Cheney’s politics are abhorrent to me. She supports ALL wars, is glad Roe v. Wade was overturned, and has no problem with the overwhelming income gap in America today. She’s a hard core conservative. Those were her qualifications in a very conservative red state. Her opponent last night, future Wyoming House Representative, bat-shit crazy, has one qualification. To wit: She publicly licks Donald Trump’s balls. That’s it. That’s the ONLY qualification for ANY Republican running in ANY primary these days. Hitching one’s integrity to a political cancer is what is required to be a part of the Republican Party today … and the ONLY thing making it all possible has nothing to do with Donald Trump and EVERYTHING to do with people SO FUCKING STUPID and UNWILLING TO EDUCATE THEMSELVES, they let a New York Con Artist take them and their souls to the cleaners.

And that is what America is today … the entertainment capital of the world. 🙂

    • Wow….a little inflamed are we? Two things against Liz Cheney……her name and she voted for impeachment. Pretty simple actually. That, and the fact that she crossed the line to sit with Democrats on the J6 hearings, really hurt her. She was not bi partisan at all. She was one sided right along with the Democrats. You don’t do shit like that in Western States like Wyoming and expect to survive.

There is one other problem…..and I do not know how to prove it……the J6 hearings are not popular and I personally feel that the majority of the electorate do not like the way it was conducted. ( I say this because of the reaction that I get from my hard core left friends- yes, I still have hard core left friends..we do not pick our associations like some hard core’s do….like my neighbor who divorced her husband because of his conservative opinions).

Now, you throw in this Mira Largo raid….and it simply does not look good. This is, of course, my opinion.

She will try to run for POTUS and will get nowhere.
      ========================

      • Not too partisan, are we? 🙂

“and she voted for impeachment. Pretty simple actually. That, and the fact that she crossed the line to sit with Democrats on the J6 hearings, really hurt her …” you just proved my “inflamed” comments, sir. 🙂

        • No sir….I am not partisan…..why do you insist on this? Perhaps you see something that I don’t? All I did was say what hurt her…I did not agree with or disagree with what she did….I simply answered why she lost.

          • A question for you…..so if I am not partisan and I give equal consideration to both sides….and I come to a conclusion based on what I saw or heard and I rendered my opinion on that basis on what I felt……does that make one a partisan if they disagree with the other side?

  47. There is a private exorcism going to night for Charlie……going to get the Orange Man out of his head……..Huuummmmmmmmmmhhhuuummmmmm….

    • I heard that on Truth Social! Guess Trump and Bannon will be on hand to welcome him to MAGA! And they live happily ever after. 🙂

      • A commi on FB said, “Another moron who lets Trump live rent free in his head” … about me? He did … The explanation was too long and he couldn’t accept it to so I sent him to that big blocked cloud in the sky. NOTHING that happens in the Trump fiasco(s) will change an iota of life in America. Life in America has long been doomed by 2 things: 1) capitalism … 2) corporations … That does NOT preclude me from enjoying seeing a POS possibly (maybe) FINALLY get his comeuppance … especially since I have friends still doing time for FAR LESS than Bunker Boy will ever do if he is convicted.

        • Curious…and you do not think that life under socialism is not doomed?

          • Of course it is. Everything, worldwide, is doomed form neoliberalism (capitalism gone wild) … it’s over … not our generation, obviously, but I suspect the next two (if the “superpowers” can avoid blowing each other and others up) generations are screwed.

            • Ok….you are a socialist but you believe that a socialist government is also doomed. Glad to hear you say that…..your stock just improved. You get a couple of Colonel points on that statement. (There may be hope for you yet ).

I often talk with my kids and apologized for my generation giving them a sack of shit but…..and I am particularly worried about my grand kids. But, all that said, my late father said the same things as did my late grand daddy…..so……………………………………..

              • I “earned” those points, Colonel! 🙂 I fear, more than anything, that larceny is in the heart of us all (to a greater or lesser degree), which is why all forms of government are doomed sooner or later. Once people become complacent, it seems to me, the corruption becomes the norm. I’m guessing you read Hannah Arendt’s Eichmann Trials … “the banality of evil” … all empires collapse … I suspect we’re well on our way (because from both parties, the shit that is being accepted by “we the people” is a killer in the end.

  48. I am in purgatory again. Go to Just the News for an article on a 2012 court decision concerning presidential records issued by Justice Barrett. Basically, Judicial Watch sued to have NARA retrieve some audio tapes Bill Clinton had and Barrett ruled that they were his personal property and POTUS had a broad range of authority to declassifying information. Under this ruling, the FBI should return all the documents.

  49. Uh-oh, Spaghetti O’s …

  50. 🙂 The most entertaining collection of clowns EVER … Cohen says it’ll be Rudy under the bus first.

  51. He lies … 🙂

  52. Charlie……if they redact anything…..that would be a travesty.

    • Of course it would … because all the Trump defenders, who never know which excuse to use day to day, would go nuts again. Maybe they’ll kill a few judges. The bottom line is it is standard procedure to keep affidavits sealed, but this judge wanted to be liked by both sides (remember, the “liberal” media is also suing for disclosure). Trump wants to know who gave him up (like any mob boss would) … it’s hilarious. I don’t care whether the seal, redact or expose the entire affidavit. By the way, Trump’s lawyer stood mute during the procedure, so I guess they didn’t really want it unsealed either. She didn’t argue at all, said NOTHING. 🙂

      • So, please refute my argument……if you want things in the open so everyone can see them….then why would you want the affidavit sealed? Why not throw the whole thing in the open……keeping things sealed and keeping things from the public tends to make be believe that something is rotten.

        • People…all people….should have to courage of their convictions…do you not agree with that? There should be no whistle blowers or “informed sources” or “confidential informants”……nothing should be kept secret in things like this. Do you agree with this?

My reasoning is…..if you say it, stand behind it. I see it like you see the 5th amendment….your opinion is, if you take the 5th, you are guilty. My opinion of informants and whistle blowers and confidential sources is that they are not believable. They can say or do anything without fear of reprisal.

          Opinion?

          • Yes, but you’re asking a society that has been indoctrinated to “me first” to be honorable. My wife and I were discussing this this morning (literally) before I left for work (where I am now). There is ZERO integrity in politicians … and by extension, the entire government … it’s why I STILL am happy Trump defeated Clinton. All the corruption was exposed from 2015 to today (the DNC’s war against Sanders, no matter if you think he’s a Bolshevik, although in Europe he’d be a centrist). From that horrendous nonsense exposed by Wikileaks to the persecution of Julian Assange (who the Dems didn’t hate when he exposed Bush war crimes via the military) to Trump and his non-stop criminal activity to date. I doubt the American public has the fortitude for honor when it involves their personal interest. As I said in my FB post, I abhor Liz Cheney’s politics, but she did the ONE thing other GOP pols (except for 9 or 10) refused to do, which was to give up her seat on principal. She was/is honorable … and now condemned by the collection of phonies that run and are the party.

            • Yes, but you’re asking a society that has been indoctrinated to “me first” to be honorable. Yes, I am asking our leaders to be open and honest. I am asking the populace to stand behind their convictions. If it is important enough to say, then it is important enough to say it to your face. But, the internet has created cowards…no heroes.

There is ZERO integrity in politicians … and by extension, the entire government Agreed.

I doubt the American public has the fortitude for honor when it involves their personal interest. Sad…very sad…but so.

              • We’re in agreement more so than not. I can’t get over the different in what I perceived as just and righteous when I was a kid in the 60’s and now. America seems to have done a backflip.

        • Sir, I’m fine with them releasing everything. If Bunker Boy isn’t indicted and prosecuted, it’ll be a political decision not to do so. I was just stating the facts (that affidavits are generally kept secret until indictments).

          • If Bunker Boy isn’t indicted and prosecuted, it’ll be a political decision not to do so. That may be….but the Dems are in control right now. If there is no indictment…like it or not Trump is, by acclimation, not guilty. Political decision or not.

And…a question for you….. where do you think Trump would be more effective…..as POTUS or being a power behind the throne.

            • I suspect, due to the % of people who have bought into his bullshit, it wouldn’t make a difference. The ONLY way the GOP will abandon him is if, say, the midterms turn out to be a disaster for them (when they should be cleaning house). But … Roe V. Wade is going to hurt them … and Trump’s toxic radiation has already caused them the house and the Senate and the WH. if they lose a split in the Senate and if the Dems hold the house, you may see “some” in the GOP start to grow a spine. The man (Bunker Boy) is poison. He won’t change a thing regarding the establishment. He’ll just create more chaos and make America look dumber than it already does.

  53. Bunker Boy lost Alex Jones? This should be the end of DeSantis. 🙂

  54. 18 former senior Trump officials say … guess what? He’s full of shit.

  55. Watching a lot of the issues on the news of the lawless reactions and antics in some of the cities, the trend seems to be growing nationwide. Recently, the sucker punch that is all over the news, the flash mob looting of a 7 eleven……etc.
Governor Abbott was just on the local news telling store owners and individuals to protect themselves and their property. Do not wait on police response if you feel threatened…protect yourself. He reminded store owners and individuals of the Castle Doctrine in Texas…you are allowed to protect your store and theft using deadly force…..in other words…gun ’em down.

Here is a synopsis of Texas Law.
The castle doctrine in Texas presumes that using force is reasonable and justified when another person: unlawfully and with force enters or attempts to enter your habitation, vehicle, or work-place; or attempts to remove you, by force, from your habitation, vehicle, or work-place; was committing or attempting to commit aggravated kidnapping, murder, sexual assault, aggravated sexual assault, robbery, or aggravated robbery.

    Self-Defense – Texas Penal Code § 9.31

A person is justified in using force against another when he reasonably believes the force is immediately necessary to protect himself against the other’s use or attempted use of unlawful force. A “reasonable belief” is one held by an ordinary and prudent person in the same circumstance as the actor. The person defending themselves has no duty to retreat if they had a right to be in the location, did not provoke the person they used deadly force against, and was not engaged in criminal activity. Also, the judge or jury cannot consider whether an actor failed to retreat when determining whether the actor reasonably believed force was necessary.

Self-Defense using Deadly Force – Texas Penal Code § 9.32
Like regular self-defense, it is presumed that the use of force was immediately necessary if if the castle doctrine elements are satisfied.Furthermore, the person defending themselves has no duty to retreat if they had a right to be in the location, did not provoke the person they used deadly force against, and was not engaged in criminal activity. Also, the judge or jury cannot consider whether an actor failed to retreat when determining whether the actor reasonably believed force was necessary.

Protection of Others – Texas Penal Code § 9.33

A person can use force or deadly force to protect another if, under the circumstances, he reasonably believes that he would be justified in using force or deadly force to protect himself if he was the one being unlawfully attacked and he believes his intervention is immediately necessary to protect the other person. The actor in the situation is said to “step into the shoes” of the person being attacked and act as if he was that person for the purposes of self-defense.

Prevention of Trespass or Theft – Texas Penal Code § 9.41(a)

Texas law allows a lawful owner of land or tangible property to use force to protect his property. The property owner is justified in using force when he reasonably believes the force is immediately necessary to prevent or terminate the other’s trespass on his land or unlawful interference with his property.

Recovery of Land or Stolen Property – Texas Penal Code § 9.41(b)

A person unlawfully dispossessed of land or property by another is justified in using force against the other when he reasonably believes the force is immediately necessary to re-enter the land or recover the property. The owner can only use force if he uses it immediately or in fresh pursuit after the dispossession and he reasonably believes the other had no claim of right when he dispossessed the actor or the other took the land or property by using force, threat, or fraud.

Deadly Force to Protect Property – Texas Penal Code § 9.42

There is a three-part test an owner must meet in order to use deadly force to protect his property. A person is justified in using deadly force to protect his land or tangible property if:

    (1) he would be justified in using force against the other under § 9.41 of the Penal Code;
(2)he reasonably believes the deadly force is immediately necessary to prevent the other’s imminent commission of arson, burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, theft during the nighttime, or criminal mischief during the nighttime or to prevent the other who is fleeing immediately after committing burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, or theft during the nighttime from escaping with the property; and
    (3) he reasonably believes that the land or property cannot be protected or recovered by any other means or the use of force other than deadly force to protect or recover the land or property would expose the actor or another to a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury.

    ========================================

Ranchers are now using the trespass section of the Castle Doctrine.
Shop owners can use it to prevent looting and shoplifting.

So, in view of all of this, it looks as if the correct response to all this violence is to take the law into your own hands….I believe we used to call vigilante.

  56. JAC…….HELP…….in jail again.

  57. A wonderful version of “Yesterday” … by Randy Rainbow.

  58. Oh, no! The Deep State! Could it be it’s the Trump appointed agencies?

Colonel, in all seriousness, do you find it “odd” that 3 agencies had their text messages deleted for January 5-6, 2021? Secret Service, Homeland Security & the Pentagon (all appointed by Trump and dumbass Biden allowed them to stay more than 3 seconds after his inauguration.

  59. Why, oh, why do they LIE so often? Hageman, who called Bunker Boy a “racist” and a “xenophobe” in 2015 … has learned the art of licking orange balls … and she’s even picked up his specialty … LYING: 🙂

    • Just A Citizen says:

      charlie

Proving once again that your bias gets in your way. You see Ms. Hageman was called a liar over the phone call so she played the message for the media. The message was as she said, two words.

Rational people think that the message was dropped or interrupted. Just as happens to many of us.
Oh, and the debunking of this was done like three days ago.

      • She played the message? 🙂 Do you remember when SHE called Trump a “racvist” and “misogynist”?

        • Just A Citizen says:

I do not remember because her rhetoric has never been of interest to me. Didn’t even know who she was until she ran against Ms. Cheney.

But I do know that the accusations of her lying about Ms. Cheney’s phone call were BS. She proved it, but you can keep on trying to move the goal posts.

  60. THIS is why the world laughs at us … and why the GOP will wind up losing yet again backing Bunker Boy.

  61. Actually, I do not find it odd. I find it to be in concert with those agencies. I do not think it strange. Each of those agencies ride with the brand until it is time to not ride with the brand. I do not think that it is a Trumpian thing but something that has been natural to do since 1975.

  62. Just A Citizen says:
  63. Let’s see, Red State.com … 🙂 I think they might be right. It wasn’t an attack on the capital by Bunker Boy’s minions … it was Antifa … and those Jewish space lasers … and Hugo Chavez … and the Italians! You’re all nuts if you buy into any of this bullshit. 🙂

  64. Think he’ll be happy when a few FBI agents are killed? I do.

    • Speaking of red states … 🙂

      • Just A Citizen says:

        You are such a tool.

      • You do know what prompted this….correct?

        • I can give you the Cliff Notes version of this because Texas stopped this a long time ago. The Democrats were promising food and water to Democratic voters only. That was a way to get people to the polls. Texas says, food and water is just fine IF it is given without party denomination and everyone can have it and you cannot charge for it. No kiosks or such and no profit making.

          That took care of it.

          • Me thinks your “cliff notes” are not accurate. Closing down voting stations in black areas only? And the issue is VERY specific, regarding food and water in Georgia. You might not like it, but there it is … a racist state cannot believe it might lose it’s privilege. 🙂

  65. Just A Citizen says:

This is interesting, and in line with some thoughts I had on the raid. Wonder if we will ever know the full truth?

    https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2022/08/20/new-intel-officials-leak-about-what-fbi-was-looking-for-in-trump-raid-n614834

    • No, you will not see the affidavit. The full version. The way it is now, the DOJ can selectively “leak” what they want out. Being going on for decades. They will control the narrative.

      • Just A Citizen says:

        Colonel

I agree to a point. I think their ability to actually control the narrative has been diminished. It seems they can control it among the elite but we the people have seen through their lies and manipulations.

I think this is one of the reasons they went after Mr. Trump so hard. He did not give them the benefit of the doubt, right from the start. He did not destroy them, he simply piled onto the stack of evidence that had been building.

The house cleaning required in D.C. is astronomical. I am not sure it is redeemable in its current form.

        • And his comments about the FBI … causing danger to agents or not? Remember there’s been people killed (one of his own mutants) over this.

        • Well, sir, the reason I say that the DOJ can control the narrative is that through redactions, they can then leak only the narrative that they want.

I will never be convinced until the entire affidavit is made public. I do not believe in “whistle Blower protection….I do not believe in “informed sources” protections, I do not believe that media has the right to protect sources. I am firmly in the camp of “if you feel it pertinent to mention, then stand up and do it”..

I am not like Charlie and convict on innuendo and media postings. I want to see the data, unredacted, I want to see indictments, if any, and I want to see people, no matter whom, go to trial and be judged.

It is like the border. I can sit right here and tell you everything that is happening on the border. You can either believe it or not. Charlie can believe it or not. The media WILL NOT…I repeat, WILL NOT report it in truth. Even conservative media only wants headlines. But finding bodies almost every single day..is not news. Finding bodies of children staked out by the cartels is not news. Finding people staked to trees with signs hanging on them is not news. An 80% rape factor of the women crossing is not news. The rapes of children aged from 6 years old is not news.

Unless it is reported, no matter how many times I say it….in the minds of the uninformed….does not make it true. So, this is why I tell Charlie all the time…I do not believe U tube or the postings that Charlie puts up there because they are biased….

So….indict and prosecute….unless that happens, the rest is coffee house bull shit. Failure to do so……means innocence.

    • You guys EVER quote from another source (speaking of TOOLS)? 🙂

    • Tell me this, JAC. Was the election rigged? Was it a fraud? Did Israeli space lasers change the votes? Was it Hugo Chavez? How about the Italian satellites? Does the Red State source you live off of tell you it was a rigged election? And what about that suitcase full of votes in Georgia? Or the truck with all the ballots from NY to PA? Was it rigged, JAC. Was pour Bunker Boy really robbed? 🙂

      • Just A Citizen says:

Yes the election was rigged. There are DNC operatives who have openly stated such. Colluding with federal agency staff and media to make sure Mr. Trump did not win. Like the deliberate and “coordinated” suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop info, showing The Big Guy took payoffs from Ukraine, China, and God only knows who else.

Then there was the open effort by Pelosi to fix it all with Federally funded mail in ballots across the country.

Michigan…………. over 150,000 ILLEGAL BALLOTS were counted.
Pennsylvania……….. ILLEGAL changing of the election process months before. These ILLEGAL changes were upheld by a Democrat partisan court.

As for Red State, they have a variety of authors. Some believe it was rigged and others not so much. But attacking information based solely on who publishes it is …………well……….. a logical fallacy.

  66. Just A Citizen says:

How dare these reporters report the actual information to us. I guess who can blame the Feds for doing this, given how the media is such a bunch of wingnuts. OK, sarcasm off.

    https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2022/08/sharyl_attkisson_reveals_how_low_the_fbi_will_go.html

  67. S Kent Troy says:

A tidbit from the book “The Gun” which documents the development and ubiquitousness of the AK-47.

“In 1961 the East German government had begun the construction of what they called the , ” ANTI-FASCIST PROTECTION WALL” (ie. the Berlin Wall) another milestone in doublespeak.”

So, when someone calls someone a fascist, it is important to remember just who blithely bandies about that particular epithet.

  68. Charlie…your opinion of Alan Dershowitz?

    • Can’t stand him most times, defend him other times. My beef with him has to do with a professor I took classes from a few years ago. Dershowitz went out of his way to have Norman Finkelstein removed from his teaching positions because Finkelstein destroyed him in a debate (proved Dershowitz had plagiarized from another book). They are on opposite sides of the Israeli-Palestine issue. These days, because of his connection to Weistein, he’s totally discredited, so I have no use for him anymore.

  69. I think it would be a great idea if we all took a moment and re-read the article at the top of this page. If you don’t want to take the time, here’s a couple quotes, “He offered us all a place where diversity of thought, experiences and opinions were welcome. A place where civil discussion, and disagreement, was the rule.” “As it turned out this little family of his was so diverse that virtually anyone could fit in. Unless, of course, they were obnoxiously rude to others in the group. Civility was the rule, even if it was sometimes very hard to enforce.”

Let the discussions , hopefully civil, continue.

  70. S Kent Troy says:

“a smart, moral person can never do battle on equal footing with an evil, immoral person.”
    SK Trynosky Sr.

    • Depends on who is doing the judging, Mr. Troy. One person’s evil is another person’s sunshine.

      • Just A Citizen says:

        The classic rationalization of evil.

While it is true that the concepts of what is moral or not can vary by person, it is equally true that the vast majority of humans and their societies share certain key moral principles. Such as their stance on murder and theft.

        • “Such as their stance on murder and theft.” I’m not so sure this is true or there would be universal objections to illegal wars and America has a pretty good lead in that category. Theft doesn’t seem to bother you (unless I’m misreading you) as regards Trump’s tax fraud, charities schemes, his fugazi university, etc. … the thing is, if ideologically you see nothing wrong with Mr. Troy’s statement a week or so ago regarding setting mines on the border, how does that marriage work (i.e., murder) … same goes for me, a person who believes life starts at conception, yet defends a woman’s right to abortion. It’s a tough one to make definitive statements about.

  71. S Kent Troy says:
  72. Just A Citizen says:

Since I am around a lot of these “new” Republicans I can say I just do not see justification for all the FEAR about the Constitution or the notion the new R’s are a threat to that rule of law. I think this person’s viewpoint is really just more evidence of how long time politicians are out of touch with the rest of us.

    https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/3609531-jan-6-witness-rusty-bowers-says-constitution-hanging-by-a-thread-after-election-loss/

This argument in summary: They have ignored us for decades. They have trampled on the Constitution and imposed unjust laws upon us. So now when we finally wake up and start making noise, they label us EMOTIONAL hacks filled with REVENGE.

One should recognize here that in the history of human events, when large numbers become actually emotionally driven for revenge very bad things happen. Those things are not happening, not even close. Ergo, the assumption must be false.

    • “They have ignored us for decades. They have trampled on the Constitution and imposed unjust laws upon us. So now when we finally wake up and start making noise, they label us EMOTIONAL hacks filled with REVENGE.”

I actually agree with this, except from a different perspective. I think the people of this country, red states and blue, have been ignored by the powers that be (both parties & corporations) and I believe the Democratic Party’s failure to address those issues are what brought about Trump (plus their insistence on ramming H. Clinton down everyone’s throat). I also believe, however, that a 240+ year document is absurd to continue to attempt to live by … and not only from the different perceptions and interpretations of it, but because 240+ years have seen the kinds of changes that document(s) can no longer address.

“One should recognize here that in the history of human events, when large numbers become actually emotionally driven for revenge very bad things happen. Those things are not happening, not even close. Ergo, the assumption must be false.”

I totally disagree with your assumption. Bad things are happening. Very bad things, none of which have to do with Trump’s investigations or investigations that should land Biden and his kid in jail. The bad things have been distracted by those spectacles, as they are designed to do by a corporate media, for the sake of passing abhorrent laws. Do you know how many states attempted to demand a loyalty oath to Israel, for instance? Last count I saw was 18. Same goes for protesting Big Oil, except that # was higher (28 or so, I think). Then there’s Roe v. Wade, the nonsense about leading prayers on football fields (I assume it means all athletic fields) and one has to wonder what happens when a Muslim coach lays down a rug to pray on. The deregulation and attacks on labor (although unionization seems to trying to fight back, but not via the government, that’s for sure). Poor Rusty Bowers, is all I can say. I disagree with probably all his political ideology and his faith, but that man has integrity, which very few in that party seem to know how to smell, never mind possess.

      • Just A Citizen says:

        charlie

That 240 year old document is the sacred text, which happens to include a means of amending it to stay fresh. So the attack on the Constitution due to its age is hollow. Even Mathius came to realize that the document must be sacred and if we change then we need to change it as prescribed. Then, and only then, do you get the support of We the People to an extent needed to maintain our Society and its affection for the Govt.

When I speak of very bad things I am thinking of really actual bad things. Violence and destruction. The Roe vs. Wade issue you raise is not a bad thing in that context. More like a distraction like the others you listed.

As for Bowers and his ilk. If you define integrity as standing on your principles then yes. But that does not mean his principles are correct, or that he has a grasp on the nation’s mood, let alone the new Republicans.

        • “That 240 year old document is the sacred text, which happens to include a means of amending it to stay fresh. So the attack on the Constitution due to its age is hollow. Amendments are IMPOSSIBLE in a divided country and it doesn’t appear that we’ll be in any kind of harmony anytime soon. Mathius, if I remember correctly, is essentially a Democrat. Democrats are now moderate Republicans. Either way, they both speak the same language, which is stasis, which changes nothing.

“When I speak of very bad things I am thinking of really actual bad things. Violence and destruction. The Roe vs. Wade issue you raise is not a bad thing in that context. More like a distraction like the others you listed.”

Okay. Violence and destruction. Does January 6 count?

“As for Bowers and his ilk. If you define integrity as standing on your principles then yes. But that does not mean his principles are correct, or that he has a grasp on the nation’s mood, let alone the new Republicans.”

The new Republicans, I suggest, have ZERO principles. The FACT they’re following a con artist demagogue proves that point, I think.

I will never forgive her and her ilk, along with the Democrats, for the way they politicized the Covid outbreak. Their games led to thousands of dead people that could have probably been avoided. They destroyed and economy and set out children’s development back years all for the sake of making themselves look important and damaging the “Orange Man”.

    • The triumvirate of Collins, Fauci and Birx cost us thousands of lives plus untold economic pain. On top of that them, the CDC, NIH, etc. have had billions of dollars and decades to prepare for a massive 1918 style flu pandemic and the were caught totally flat footed. They should have all been fired within 30 days for their lack of preparedness.

  74. Just A Citizen says:

My take on this polling data, and the story, is this. The Deep State, which included the MSM, has affectively changed the narrative for the time being with the Mara Lago raid. Note that less than half have confidence in the Jan 6 hearings. Which means that for the majority to believe further investigation is warranted is being driven by the more current events. Not the Jan 6 riots.

    https://thehill.com/policy/national-security/3609770-most-voters-in-new-poll-say-investigations-into-trump-should-continue/

Then there is the old fashioned issue of how you ask a question. Note the words attached about making sure that an ex POTUS has to live with the law as the rest of us. If you were to ask the same question about Mr. Biden and his money schemes I bet you would get the same percentage.

    • I suspect when all is said and done, whether Trump is actually indicted, prosecuted and/or convicted, the lines that have been drawn will remain the same. Both parties LOVE government institutions when they work in their favor … Both HATE the same government institutions when they work against them … and the bottom line in America (AND WHY I’M A SOCIALIST) is that with either party, NO ONE can vote against GOLDMAN SACHS or THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX … so polls and results are essentially meaningless … which is why we live by spectacle alone these days.

      • Just A Citizen says:

You so often accurately identify the problem but fail in devising a solution that will work.

        • I have no solution, JAC, but the FACT that our system ONLY benefits a small percentage of the population suggests to me another system must be given a chance, incrementally or not. I have no doubt it won’t happen because the levers of power in America are controlled by corporations for the benefit of corporations.

          • Just A Citizen says:

Your claim is false, therefore your assertion that a radical change is needed is based on a falsehood.

Our system doesn’t only serve a small number. It has benefited everyone. Just look at the standard of living by population segment of 100 years ago to today. You cannot objectively claim that only a small number are better off.

You, as most, compare what you think should be and then claim what is as a failure. But you have not evidence that “what should be” is either possible or actually desirable in the long run.

If you know people who are hurting, then help them. It is that simple.

            • “Your claim is false, therefore your assertion that a radical change is needed is based on a falsehood.”

Because YOU say so? I don’t think so.

“Our system doesn’t only serve a small number. It has benefited everyone. Just look at the standard of living by population segment of 100 years ago to today. You cannot objectively claim that only a small number are better off.”

Yes, let’s look at the standard of living of the entire American population and not just the white middle and upper classes 100 years ago. Ever hear of Jim Crow? Christ, look at today. Look at some of our RED states on education, health, drug addictions, prison populations.

“You, as most, compare what you think should be and then claim what is as a failure. But you have not evidence that “what should be” is either possible or actually desirable in the long run.”

If you can’t see how the United States if failing at a very rapid speed today, I don’t know how to get you out of that bubble. “President” Bunker Boy is your first clue.

“If you know people who are hurting, then help them. It is that simple.”

I do, but I can’t afford to fly into space for 20 seconds as opposed to feed the hungry, house the homeless, etc. America is so blatantly a failure, we allow people who pay ZERO federal taxes to piss money away on flying to space as if it’s something new and for the sake of their selfish pleasure. I’d nationalize everything they own and put them in a tent city and give them some great American advice. “Let’s see you pull yourself up by your bootstraps now, MF’er.” 🙂

      • Just A Citizen says:

One other thing. Mr. Trump should not be indicted for anything he did as POTUS nor for his efforts to deal with the election.

If he is found guilty of any crime it will more than likely come from his business dealings before being elected. Although I find it very curious why nobody was trying to skin him so completely before he was elected. But of course, our legal system would never be used for political purposes.

        • “One other thing. Mr. Trump should not be indicted for anything he did as POTUS nor for his efforts to deal with the election.” Good lord (said the atheist) … why not? Why in God’s name (there the atheist goes again) not? Please answer.

          • Just A Citizen says:

He committed no crimes while POTUS. That simple.

At least no crimes have been revealed to date. And trying to organize alternative slates of electors is not a crime. It has been done in the past. It will probably happen in the future. That is for the States to resolve, per the law written by those who wanted to protect their own power at the Federal level.

  75. Just A Citizen says:

The ESG rules should be done by PRIVATE organizations. The Govt. should not be in the game at all. If something is so toxic as to poison people then outlaw the product or dictate its use via product safety.

This type of game has been going on for almost two decades in the forest products industry. A friend now works for an international group certifying “sustainability” in many areas. In terms of making a real difference, this is all BS.. Just adding more layers of bureaucratic nonsense that increases cost of operations, thus driving small producers out of the market place. As only the Big Corporations can sustain the financial burden.

    https://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/3605143-republicans-wage-war-on-environmental-investing-rules/

P.S. When the “green” label becomes important you will find that most products are “suddenly” green. Like magic it will happen over night.

    • “The ESG rules should be done by PRIVATE organizations.” Oy vey! A little history reading should cure you of that idea. Privatization has been and always will be a disaster to the interests of we the people. Only those with greed in their hearts, it seems to me, could convince otherwise.

      • Just A Citizen says:

As evidence of your mistaken conclusion I give you the US Govt, and every other Govt. that has existed since the time of the Assyrians.

If Private enterprise draws the immoral who do you think an organization with absolute monopoly power will draw? If I were an immoral person why would I work for some sniveling private firm when I can use Govt. Power to my advantage?

  76. Just A Citizen says:

Another great example of how to misuse data to make a political point.

In case you don’t realize it, a Masters in education is not the “same level” of education as a Masters in Biology or a Masters in Physical Therapy.

    https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2022/07/teachers-among-most-educated-yet-pay-lags.html

I don’t buy the reason put forth either. That being vilification of teachers. First you have to know the number who reached retirement age. Just about all the professions, except high tech, are suffering the same situation. And of course, nobody pushing for more teacher pay is going to acknowledge the reasons why public education has been criticized these past few decades. Namely, it went off the rails. Teachers I had in the 60.s and early 70’s quit teaching before the 80’s because of changes within the system, not due to criticism from without. Primarily the loss of control over student behavior. One history teacher, and football coach, quit and started a lawn mowing business, with 20 years left before retirement.

    • Some quit because of the curriculum forced down their throats. Not teaching ACTUAL American history serves no one outside of those in power (old white men). How many books has Florida banned now? FUCKING IDIOTS (those who banned them, not you, JAC).

    • “You can never pay a good teacher enough while bad teachers are always over paid.” Grandpa

Once again, the comparisons are apples and oranges. You compare salaries for people working 12 months/yr to those working just 10 months/yr. You also need to understand that the general public thinks (and international comparisons confirm) that our schools are doing a terrible job of education. They do a somewhat better job of indoctrination. So in general the pay scale reflects the quality of the product provided.

Standards in public schools have been declining for decades. My mother took a class in solid geometry in a school that was smaller then mine. Our school did not offer the class. My dad had a class in freshmen college chemistry in HS. Again not offered in my school. Now in case you think it had something to do with class size, Mom’s graduating class had 17 students and Dad’s had 7 while my class was 42.

      • “Standards in public schools have been declining for decades.” Do you suggest banning books is a good thing?

        • You imply that any book banned for any situation is not appropriate. Banning books from store shelves or public libraries is one thing, banning books that are not age appropriate in schools is something else. I do not support having overtly sexual books in lower elementary schools. But then do you support the banning of Huck Finn or the Little House on the Prairie because they use certain verboten words? I think there is a big difference between the form and the latter.

        • Also stop equating education standards to book banning. Teaching that math and science are inherently racists is absolute insanity but insanity seems to have taken over.

          • Yes, the curriculum of a school has nothing to do with teaching. How do you marry that one? 🙂 No book should be ban. The ONLY way to correct the mistakes of a society/country is to teach it. Ignoring it guarantees a collection of sheep like Trump supporters. And on that issue, looks like 57% of those polled want to see Bunker Boy investigated. Bless them. 🙂

            • So I take it you read the Happy Hooker as a bed time story to your six year old?

              • Why would that bother you? For people who claim to want liberty, you sure put a lot of caveats on it.

                • Do you ever answer a question?

                  • I think it’s pretty obvious I did answer the question. I may or may not allow my kid (or read the Happy Hooker to him or her at bedtime). What business of it is yours? Like I said, for people who claim they want liberty, it seems like only on your terms. What do you care if a gay couple adopt a kid, if a woman has an abortion? Again, why the hell would that bother you? Try answering a question, why don’t you? 🙂

                    • I guess I can forget that answer, huh? Foiled again, you were. 🙂

                    • No you did not. The question is not about freedom. You are free to do what you want. The question is personal. Would you read sexually explicit literature (smut to be more explicit) to your 8 yr old? Would you be comfortable if a teacher did this without your permission?

                    • What a strawman argument this is. You’re full of it. You don’t want to address the issue. Personal my ass. It’s a public policy when you ban books in a given state. You guys are so full of it. 🙂

                    • You idiot, I addressed the issue. I said banning books from stores and public libraries is wrong. However, books for lower grade elementary students should be select for age appropriateness. Sexually explicit books are not appropriate in lower grades. Neither is racist CRT based books that teach one race inferior or superior to another.

I just saw a video that claimed a teacher in TX stated that 80% of her 3rd grade students fell into on of the letters of LGBQ+. This is total BS and smacks of grooming which has no place in the public schools. Kids will try to please the teacher and are easily programmed at this young age. How many of these kids will not develop into normal healthy adults as a result?

Oh the irony of ironies. The Democrats continue to scream about Saving Democracy. Meanwhile they celebrate the “conservative” SCOTUS for overturning State election rules for a sublevel elected position because, “voting at large threatens to disenfranchise the African American voters”. Because they might not be able to dictate which “commissioner” is elected for their particular neighborhood.

So it seems Democracy just doesn’t work when you are in the minority. Who could have ever imagined of this potential downside to Democracy?

For the record, I think SCOTUS was full of it on this decision. None of their business unless someone could prove the election rules were deliberately set to disenfranchise someone. This idea that “negative impacts” exist because some special interest group screams real loud has got to go the way of the Dodo.

    • You have a much better argument showing the hypocrisy of the Dems regarding democracy than a loser argument like SCOTUS, I think. Superdelegates alone make a mockery of the word democracy … and let’s not forget funding the MAGA candidates because they think they can beat them in a general election.

One other note. This article lets the magistrate off due to being misled. Why was a search allowed on such generality as “we just want to inventory the stuff??????

  79. Pence is walking a tightrope of his own making. Democrats praise him for all the wrong reasons. He did his job on January 6, but if he was a true American hero and someone with integrity, he would voted to get rid of Trump with the 25th amendment. He has no shot at the presidency in 2024 because the MAGA crowd has become brain dead in its defense of a true piece of shit. I’m curious whether he’ll testify before the Jan 6 committee, but I suspect the feelers his people are putting out there will preclude him from doing so. I’d much rather see him testify in an actual criminal case against Trump.

Now I can get the stuff all over me when taping, breath the dust when sanding and live with the dried results for decades, but in the bucket it is hazardous waste. The plastic pail is more hazardous than the contents. Brought the bucket home and dumped it in the old pool pit which I am trying to fill. It is now rock and not hazardous and I now have a 5 gal bucket I can grow potatoes in.

Another book recommendation. A fantastic one night read (for me) Who can resist a nutty true story of an old Inwood NYC hand who takes it upon himself to deliver real NYC brews to his buddies in Viet-nam in 1968 and gets embroiled in Tet? The story is really a two parter, that of growing up in Northern Manhattan in the ’50’sand ’60’s which I can attest to by personal knowledge and the Viet-nam part which I would have had trouble believing if there were not photos. The bar by the way existed, After work on Fridays, my co-workers and I spent time there drinking $ 2.00 pitchers of Schaeffer and Rheingold.

Soon to be a major motion picture. It ought to be a riot. Bill Murray plays the barkeep who makes the challenge.

So, you think you know about Russia, huh? Well I did and then discovered I knew about a tenth of the story. An historical novel covering from 160 AD to the collapse of Communism. 700 pages of fascinating history a la James Mitchener. Since the first capital of the thing that came to be Russia was Kiev or KEEVE as they now say, puts the current mess into a different perspective. It also goes a long way towards explaining Russia’s distrust of the West.

    • Kirkus, while praising the book (not starred, however) states: “Rutherfurd’s immense canvas allows a fictional cast” … I prefer anactual historical cast … but I suspect, for the purposes of what I “think” you’re driving at, understanding the Romanov’s and the tragedies they oversaw until they were gone, tells a much better history of what’s happened since. And it is interesting that they too, at least Mrs. R, adored a demagogue in Rasputin as well.

A study of the development of Automatic Weapons with particular attention to the AK-47 which made every two bit hood and “revolutionary” a one man army. Do not be fooled by the title. This sat on my bookshelf for years before I took it on last week. Those who remember Viet-nam will be fascinated by the chapters dealing with the design, procurement, testing and failure in Viet-nam of the M-16 back in ’66-’67 which cost hundreds if not a thousand American lives. A “crime” that no one was ever punished for except those who brought it to light. There are enough “personal” stories in here to make half a dozen movies if someone cared. Well written, entertaining, infuriating and engaging.

    • “A “crime” that no one was ever punished for except those who brought it to light.” … Yes, and every president who made the decision to remain in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq should be tried as war criminals. Wars based on LIES should be prosecuted to the fullest extent. And war CRIMINALS should never be pardoned, considering all that such a conviction requires. But Bunker Boy couldn’t resist pardoning one, could he? The ultimate in hypocrisy: a 5 time dodger/deferment master (deferments based on total BS), talking tough about “law and order” and then pardoning his BFF’s and a certified war criminal. Of course it doesn’t surprise me that this “person” criticizing and folks like you mis represent what Boebert is saying. It is not that the Church should have total say, but that the people, who are the Church are to tell Congress what to do. Not the other way around.

The Founders did not want Govt to have “nothing to do with Religion”. They didn’t want the Govt. establishing a national religion or “church” via law. Those are entirely two different things.

    • Just A Citizen says:

Pence is not a traitor. He was not a RINO per the original definition. As in he held pretty close to the Republican platform as a Governor. But he was also not courageous in that effort and I understand caved to the left’s pressure on occasion. HIs reputation as Governor was not all that great, per people I know from that state.

He should be thanked for joining the Trump administration and helping keep it from going off the rails.

But his time is past. He should spend time fishing or whatever he does.

    • I disagree with JAC. Pence is a traitor. Maybe not in the Benedict Arnold sense of the word but definitely in the MAGA sense. I never liked the pick to begin with but figured the VP is normally in the background. I see him as elite GOP, firmly in the Bush camp. Always with an ‘on guard’ look. Always in the middle of trouble. Bunch of Never Trumpers on staff…then it spins off to who the staff was married to.

Right off the bat…General Flynn supposedly lied to Pence about contacts with Russian diplomats. Nobody seems to know how Pence got the info to begin with. Maybe Strozk? Oh! You didn’t know Strozk’s assistant was married to Pence’s chief of staff? Follow the timeline and we get to pee tapes and Russia, Russia, Russia. So connecting dots Pence was the first to start the Russia hoax into action. Then impeachment #1 failed.

One of the main accusers in the Ukraine phone call was also a Pence staffer. And the staffer’s info came from the likes of Vindman. Why did Pence allow her to testify at all? The testimony was all innuendo, and she was never questioned much about it. But maybe Pence was clueless about her connections. :::eye roll::: . Regardless, Pence’s crowd, again, at the heart of impeachment #2. FAIL

Covid response. More Pence staff involvement. Pence got his advice from a person with a picture of Fauci displayed in her home. She eventually came out as a fraud dem operative, and was escorted out of the White House by her supervisor.

Then Pence’s chief of staff was the first person to call for Trump to accept the election results and to concede. Pence then spent time in front of mics proclaiming that he would get to the bottom of every vote, and not stop fighting for the truth. Yyyyyeah! We see how that worked out. Why, as Trump says, if Pence had no authority to change the election results, why are they now trying to pass legislation to NOT allow the VP to change election results? Oh, don’t forget about the coin handoff as soon as Pence certified the votes.

And now Pence is thinking about a presidential run? Keep dreaming Pence. You know you can’t win. You’re just hoping to be the splitter. No wonder why they call you 30Pence.

Yeah, I’m pissed all over again.

      • Just A Citizen says:

        Anita

All good points. I did not know about his staff’s connections to the Flynn or Ukraine situation.

As for his establishment label (aka. Bush types) I think I already admitted to that. As in kind of a RINO by today but not yesterday’s standard.. We forget sometimes that the RINO label was first used to describe those who ran away from the “Republican” platform once elected. Like those who ran on killing Obama Care then voted to keep it or worse yet, failed to provide an alternative.

But I will withhold the “Traitor” label for those who have in fact betrayed our Country. Like Mr. Biden who took money for influence. I wonder why the DOJ never charged him with violation as a “foreign agent”??? Oh, never mind.

        • You mean like McCain and Hillary? The answer to that is Arkancide. What are we up to now? 100 probably.

      • Just A Citizen says:

        Anita

Mr. Pence did not have the power to simply overturn the EC votes unless there had been a tie among Congress. Which is nearly impossible.

While I also raised the same question some time ago, the law is clearly written. Some think the new revisions are to make it absolutely clear but in really the new rules are designed to handcuff Congress. Which leads to questions of Constitutionality, once Congress handcuffing another.

        • You both realize the certifications Pence was supposed to use were FAKE, right? 🙂

        • JAC, I agree that Pence’s role was more ceremonially until a tie occurred. But this was a joint session so not his typical role as in just the Senate. The plans for the day were to enter the objections which required the houses to go back to their respective chambers. Each house had two hours to debate and vote on each objection. This would have allowed for evidence to be brought forward and seen by the general public that the MSM was basically blocking. I do not think that anyone expected a successful objection given the makeup of congress. Unfortunately, the idiots who stormed the building thwarted the plan and the debates got shorted out. The objections followed the legal precedent.

          • Just A Citizen says:

            Exactly.

          • ONE MORE TIME: Yous do realize the certifications that Pence was supposed to act on were FAKE, RIGHT? 🙂
Speaking of the Knucklehead Revolution …

            • Just A Citizen says:

You are mixing two issues and then focusing on only one of them. Which by the way, NEVER actually happened that I know of.

Oh, the idea was not to create FAKE electors but Alternate Electors, which has been done in the past when disputes occurred within the State.

Of course because you can’t get past the Orange Man derangement you are unwilling to see that we now know there is little that can be done to address real potential fraudulent elections in a timely manner. Congress is now pushing a law that would further limit legit challenges.

Don’t bother claiming the Courts reviewed the challenges to the last election on their merits prior to the certification. Because they did not. Several in fact placed a burden of proof on the accusers at the injunction phase that would not be required under other circumstances.

              • You beat me to it. I like your answer better.

              • “ou are mixing two issues and then focusing on only one of them. Which by the way, NEVER actually happened that I know of.

Oh, the idea was not to create FAKE electors but Alternate Electors, which has been done in the past when disputes occurred within the State.”

Per usual, you have NO idea of what you’re talking about. A Trump lawyer used the EXACT word “fake” and another suggested they change it to “alternate” … as for “been done in the past” … this election wasn’t a state election, It was a national election and your boy was caught.

                • Just A Citizen says:

OK Mr. Opera, why is it that one of your favorite left wing rags uses my terminology. And makes no mention of “illegality” or “crimes”?

I want to draw attention to one paragraph in the story which reveals aconflict within the arguments.

“The Constitution stipulates that states select their electors “in such manner as the Legislature thereof may direct.” In modern times the states have done that by holding popular elections that determine to whom their electors will be pledged. Various constitutionally enshrined rights and laws would preclude state legislatures from changing the rules and nullifying the popular will after the fact in pursuit of a different outcome.”

Note that the first part clearly states the Legislatures get to set the process. So there is nothing stopping them from changing it and overriding the popular vote in the State, if those changes complied with the State Constitution and laws and /or rules governing the Legislature’s business.

But then note how the author, using scholars, says that this plenary power is actually controlled, as in overridden, by “constitutionally enshrined rights and laws”. Note that no examples are provided. In fact, there are no such laws or rules enshrined by the “Federal” Constitution. There are only those created by SCOTUS via the Penumbra process. So in a proper legal world, the Legislature is controlled by the laws of the State, unless the Constitution specifically withholds or controls State power.

I don’t know the actual count but I know many State Constitutions dictate a popular vote as the basis for selecting electors.

So let us deal with the theory that a Legislature could have negated a popular election. There may be legal standing for such an action, if the State Laws do not prevent it. How else could an actual fraudulent election be negated?

But the POLITICAL reality is that it would be suicidal to do so. Which is the real reason many try to hide behind law and procedure. If they could they wouldn’t. And if they wouldn’t, it is easier to try and convince the angry mob that they cannot.

                  • Because you lunatics (and I use that term in a loving way) refuse to watch the Hearings (where they show THE F’N EMAIL) … I don’t get it with you lunatics (lovingly used term) refusing to see FACTS when they’re staring you in the face, but you refuse to acknowledge them. How’s that, Mr, Citizen? 🙂

                  • Just A Citizen says:

Here is another “scholars say” moment in the above story. While I might challenge that point, the bigger point is that BOTH Houses would have to agree to block a slate or to accept a slate. If an alternate slate were presented I could see the House and Senate D’s voting NAY

“t is up to Congress to accept the Electoral College results, which will happen on Jan. 6. Even if a state legislature were to send to Congress ballots from its own appointed slate of electors, many legal scholars have said that Congress would have to give preference to the slate sent by the governor.

In any event, both chambers would have to agree to block the pro-Biden electors. It is inconceivable that the Democrats who control the House of Representatives would consider any such move by Republicans.”

            • WE HEARD YOU THE FIRST TIME. Fake or alternate? I got 3:45 into your video. All those khaki wearing SOBs…FED FED FED! THEY are the ones who disrupted the whole – send it back to both chambers for more discussion and discovery. Joint session returns with no more discussion and here we are. THAT’S the fake part.

              • Anita, my love … “fake electors” … those were the words used by a Trump lawyer … another suggested changing “fake” to “alternate” … either way, it’s illegal, fraudulent and a felony. You’ll have to write Bunker Boy while he’s under house arrest in his mansion … unless he has to sell that too. 🙂

  88. Does anyone agree with this statement?

“Our movement is about replacing a failed and corrupt political establishment with a new government controlled by you, the American People. There is nothing the political establishment will not do, and no lie they will not tell, to hold on to their prestige and power at your expense. The Washington establishment, and the financial and media corporations that fund it, exists for only one reason: to protect and enrich itself.”

    • Just A Citizen says:

The part I take issue with is the idea of “replacing it with…..”. Controlled by you? WHO is the you in this statement?

Remember those Tea Party folks who screamed about Govt. spending and stopping the Bailouts in 2007 while also screaming, “keep your hands of my Social Security”?? Are those the ones we want to run the Govt.??

Then there is the issue of “for us” becoming no better than those who are running it “for us”, as in them. You replace one Grizzly Bear for another. You have not solved the problem. So the introduction is a great populist type catch phrase, but fails at the functional level.

The rest I agree with, as in the whole thing is corrupt. I would add that it has gone on for so long that the rot has spread throughout our society. And thus we see it even in local government, such as your California problems.

      • Every form of government will seek to retain power and do whatever is necessary to accomplish it. I think we all know that (even you crazies) [that’s a joke] … what is a MUST is an independent 4th estate … what is nearly impossible (it seems) is having one exist within the confines of a capitalist economy. All power MUST be challenged. Remember Frederick Douglas anyone? “Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.”

          • It used to work pretty well in the good ole US&A (60’s) … but then along came cable and the desire to turn non-profit news to profit based (thank you capitalism) and it’s all for shit now.
