The Health Insurance Debate

OcareOnce again we find ourselves in a debate on health insurance coverage.  My position is simple.  The Federal government has no business interfering in these matters.  But the Democrats think differently and we have Obamacare, which is failing miserably to live up to the promises espoused by the Liberal media and the Democrats.  Basically, if the government touched it, it’s failure was inevitable.  It will be interesting to watch this fiasco unfold.  Let the debate continue.

    But his alleged bipartisan credentials were a lie. This “professional” had been acting in an unprofessional manner.

    The Post was forced to add a clarification which said, “This column should have included a disclosure of donations made by author Edward Price in support of 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. In August, Price gave a total of $5,000 to the Clinton campaign and the Democratic Party.”

      Three separate intelligence sources believe that former President Obama veered ‘outside the chain of command’ and employed British surveillance agents to conduct surveillance on Donald Trump’s team prior to the election, according to a legal analyst.

      Judge Andrew Napolitano revealed on ‘Fox & Friends’ this morning that the sources spilled the details to him as the controversial case continues to dominate headlines.

      “Three intelligence sources have informed Fox News that President Obama went outside the chain of command,” Napolitano said. “He didn’t use the NSA, he didn’t use the CIA, he didn’t use the FBI, and he didn’t use the Department of Justice.”

      “He used GCHQ.” Napolitano explained.

      “What the heck is GCHQ? That’s the initials for the British spying agency. They have 24/7 access to the NSA database.” The Judge explained.

      Napolitano noted that this was done to secure plausible deniability. In other words, even if the Obama administration did spy on Trump, there may never be a way to prove it.

      “So by simply having two people go to them saying, ‘President Obama needs transcripts of conversations involving candidate Trump, conversations involving president-elect Trump,’ he’s able to get it, and there’s no American fingerprints on this. ”Napolitano added.

      Napolitano also noted that the sources have informed him that the individual who personally ordered the surveillance, who remains unnamed “[r]esigned three days after Trump was inaugurated.”

      The case continues to evolve after the Justice Department requested additional time Monday to gather and present evidence of the alleged surveillance to the House Intelligence Committee. It was granted until March 20th to comply with committee’s request to stump up evidence.

  4. I support making all healthcare expenses tax deductible except for elective cosmetic and sex change surgery. Cosmetic is OK if it is reconstructive surgery following some sort of disfiguring incident or birth defect. I also think that HSA accounts should be independent of one’s purchase of health insurance. In fact I think they are a great way for young indestructibles to save for future needs instead of buying insurance. If the powers that be insist on a penalty for insurance, why can’t the money go into your personal HSA account instead of the government’s coffers or to an insurance company.

    Get rid of all mandates including what insurance companies must offer. Add teeth to requirements that insurance companies live up to their contracts. Managers that cheat customers should go to jail.

    Fix the tort process. Losers should pay the legal fees of the opponent. This will stop frivolous suites but allow serious ones to proceed.

    The Republican plan using 3 steps to achieve the full repeal of Obamacare is interesting, because my feeling is that this is designed to fail. The Swamp Elephants know that OCare is going to fail, so they will put out these series of Bills that the Swamp donkeys will fight back against and probably win. The end result is that Ocare fails, the Swamp Elephants can blame the Swamp Donkeys. This is the lead up to the 2018 Mid-Term elections. The Swamp Donkeys will lose more seats and become irrelevant for the next 6 years plus.

    While this is just speculation that may not actually occur, I see the political elite playing their usual games to get re-elected. The Swamp Donkeys are losing big time. They no longer control the narrative, people can see through their constant lies and the media hasn’t helped them at all by putting out fake news all the time. Credibility is lost even further when Pelosi demands to see the Healthcare bill when everyone knows her famous “we have to pass it to see whats in it” comment.

    I also think Trump will succeed. His work ethic and understanding of deal making and business is just what this country needed. If only we had more like him in the Swamp.

    I side with states rights on almost every issue, including this one, but remember gay marriage? The conservative states all rushed to pass marriage laws in response to the left. I see this going the same way. The left just loves a good cause. They don’t have religious observation to make themselves feel righteous, so they need moral outrage to assuage their guilt. It just seems to me that this is feeding the monster.
    These people have been around since Thag the caveman tried to put a flower behind his ear and got clubbed for it. They didn’t suddenly appear. Why do we suddenly need laws to deal with them? (Disclaimer- I don’t believe in clubbing people who are confused about their gender.)

    • You are correct but I do not think that ignoring the issue is the way to go…..

      I like to think of it as….”something” got trump elected. What was it? “Something” woke the sleeping voters up…..I wonder if it is a beginning that we do not like and are seeing through the rhetoric.

      But a question for you. If we ignore (“insert issue here”) are we also ignoring the problem..if there is a problem. If I were a private business and I do not want to have ( transegender anything) in my place of business…what are my options should my rules be ignored? Can’t shoot em….if I do not have the force of law behind me, what are my options? Ignore them and just accept it? If I do that….whose rights have been ignored?

    As much as I read the different political leaning websites, including the comment sections, the more I have realized that both sides seem to view the other side nearly the same. Although I think there are clear differences in how issues are dealt with, the mental makeup observations are very close along the broad spectrum of opinions. If we were to exclude the far Left and far Right, we would all likely find that we are not that much different, politically. I think our differences would be more aligned with economics, which guides political views. I don’t view anyone here as FAR Left or Right.

    With that said, if you had to put in writing your view of the mental makeup of a Liberal and conservative, how would you word it? I would put the Left and Right into two categories each, far left/right and center/left center/right. I bet we would see things in a similar way.

The “moderates” McCain, and Romney were loved until they ran against Obama. Ditto for Dick Nixon. he opened doors to China, Created a slew of new left wing agencies like the EPA did “glasnost” with the Soviet Union, pulled out from Viet-nam, gave 18 year old’s the vote, Created title IX for women and supported the ERA. A fine record for a democrat president yet they hated him and acknowledge none of the above..

      While Republicans are becoming like this in many ways, it is mostly a reaction to the democrat intransigence. I mean, literally, just how many times can they kick your teeth out without you retaliating?

    And for those who may not actually know this the AMT is not just to make rich people pay. Many in the “middle class” get got up in the AMT. And it does not eliminate “special deductions allowed only for the rich.” It eliminates several “passive income” losses and deductions for certain state and local taxes.

    Which, if any reporter had half a brain, means that those huge “loss carryovers” they were worried about last year are overridden by the AMT. Meaning that the previous reporting that Trump wouldn’t have to pay taxes for 14 years was all BS.

About half way through, when it became obvious that she had nothing and Trump paid 26%, “more than Obama, More than Romney, more than Bernie Sanders”, Carlson cut away form a commercial.First there was his straight face waiting for the fade, then the corners of his mouth started rising, then I cracked up.       This is an easy fix. Take it all the way to the SCOTUS, if need be. In the meantime, make it damn near impossible to pass the vetting process. Ensure that the new vetting process is well known by those countries, so the people can chose to stay home rather than not pass the vetting process and be sent home. Then, it’s technically not a ban. Problem solved.

      On a different note. I read some Liberal’s complaining about Federal employee layoffs being proposed by Trump. There is also the directive to hire thousands of border security people. Simple solution…..transfer those who would get laid off to border security, send them to the Northern border offices where they won’t have to deal with any major immigration problems that the Southern border has. This limits layoffs, provides thousand of more border agents and saves on security background checks. 🙂

A five year old can understand the passage and if he wanted to ban all Muslims from everywhere, a cursory reading of the law allows that. If he wanted to ban all left handed, red haired, blue eyed people with dimples he damn well could. The law, as written, allows that. Proof is NOT a requirement.

        Based on this ruling, the courts could overrule a declaration of war by Congress after a nuclear attack by a Muslim country. This Judge and those like him need to be removed from the bench.

          The precedent is now set. There is no law passed that some judge cannot thwart based on what he “perceives” to be an ulterior motive.

          I really wish that someone could point out to me when this happened before in our history (not during a major war) so that I could have hope we could pull ourselves back from the abyss. The courts are supposed to be the “sane” ones.

            The issue here isn’t perception, it’s Trump’s (and his team’s) own words on the matter that creates the problem. I’ve long said that the President has wide authority in this area, but when the President is asking for a legal means of banning Muslims, the only answer is: “ummm….no such thing.”

            • Do you deny that the law, as written gives him powers that even I think are too broad? The law allows him wide latitude. Meanwhile it is awfully hard to call it a Muslim ban when it is A. temporary and B. restricted to countries previously identified by the prior administration as being problematic to say the least.

                As far as I am concerned, the judges are pretty much full of shit, exceeding their authority and demonstrating a contempt for separation of powers that is quite remarkable and unprecendented. Continue to defend the indefensible if you like but the law itself is quite clear and makes no mention of any “exception” to the president’s authority especially when the hell holes were previously identified as hell holes by other administrations. The ultimate shake-out from this is going to be quite bad for all of us. I have no doubt that barring a catastrophe, the President will blow out the House and Senate in ’18 because of the anger of the American People. That in turn will lead to some very profound changes. And, contrary to what you might think, I am not terribly sure I will agree with them.

    I predict the fall of the European common market, the European Union, and the end of the Word Banking System within five years…..with additional votes from several countries to leave the ECM within two years.

    It could happen even faster if the independent trade agreements with England are negotiated immediately. According to their law and the rules of the ECM, once a country starts the actual procedure of leaving, they are free to negotiate.

      I ask this from this particular issue…….currency manipulation. China and Russia are members of the G20 and each have issued free trade statements and each have issued statements that currency manipulation should not be done……..yet the largest violators of free trade and currency negotiations are…….China and Russia.   27. For Mathius: I just recently attended a hedge fund seminar consisting of representatives from Breven Howard Asset Management and Sachem. ( I have never heard of either before )…

    But since you and I have become acquainted, I decided to attend a seminar. I have always considered hedge funds way too risky and way too prone to insider trading but I thought I would ( as the Brits would say ) “give it a go.”

    I was surprised to hear that they are solidly behind Trump….however, I also noticed that the average hedge fund in 2016 was barely above 5% return…..with risks, according to their charts. Also, I noticed, according to their charts, that since Trump became POTUS, the funds are responding positively instead of negatively as in the last 6 years.

    Part of the seminar was focused on the fees and charges that the various hedge funds use. They are talking about significant reductions in fees and charges and significant reductions in shorts and puts since they are not likely to respond very sharply in a bull market.

    Ant any rate, thanks to you, I took a look and tried to learn more about this. Not very many down here play in the hedge fund market but I wanted to learn.

            Of more importance in seeing Trump’s full returns is (1) to be able to gain some insight into his various business entities and financial entanglements and (2) some general transparency.

    I’m sure everyone has heard about the picture flack at the VA facility in Florida. I would like to add to the VA and how things are going this year. I, yes ME, went to my annual checkup at the local VA clinic, as I have for 5 years or so now. Blood work and a long chat about current issues, basically the normal annual stuff. This year, unlike last year, it was a great appointment and the doctor was excellent. She asked if I wanted a colonoscopy, as I’m over 50 now and haven’t had one since my mid 30’s. This is where things have gone downhill.

    I got a call to call Healthnet and the number to get this appoint made. This was the 2nd week of February. 5 weeks later, I call back, no appointment yet, to be told that Healthnet sent the approval back to the doctor because they didn’t get the appointment made in their time limit. They did not bother to call me and inform me, and no doctor will actually get told this, it’s just a few computer clicks.

    The one question asked is for a Zip code because I’m using the Choice program. I’m still waiting for that appointment. I’m also waiting for another one for a Chiropractor, that’s been 8 days now and I’m not expecting to get an appointment through Healthnet. The reason…..my Zip Code.

      My experience with the VA in Eastern Carolina has been outstanding. The overall area is managed out of the facility in Durham NC which is right next to Duke. If the appointment is not made before you check out, the appointments have been scheduled within 24 hours. Those are ones where another group had to be consulted, as in their schedules. I have had NO appointment be late. And in fact my new physician has his nurses call you at least 15 minutes early, so their Q/A period is done by the appointment time and that is when you actually see the doctor. They have always been totally prepared for whatever you were going in for.

      The problem is that we live in a world that does not value life.

      The entire system of human organization on Earth, from local to global, is based on the principle threat of murder/destruction to control as per geography. It is a blue marble prison in space where life is not valued.

      From early childhood, ‘everyone’ teaches their children all the basic principles of successful social behavior(don’t lie, cheat, steal, share, be nice, don’t hit, etc), which is all based on rights and liberty and respect for life, but then prepares them for a world where their success is dependent on engaging a completely antithetical system of organization.

      In other words; our values system is all screwed up and contradictory.

      Correction would require establishing realistic values and ethics, and organizing accordingly instead of counter intuitively.

      That means not only being consistent in teaching children to value life, but also setting an example by providing a system that is conducive to all those basic ethical principles thereof.

      That is a good start anyway. Too bad for Mathius’s first law.

      In disregard of ethical restraints, as per according to the current values system of disregard for life, the utilitarian answer is to segregate society and start by killing anyone who doesn’t fit a set of criteria.

If it was a FISA warrant, nothing collected on Americans can be used under the warrant for any investigation. That Sir, is the law. It would require a different type of warrant to investigate anyone in the Trump campaign, because a FISA warrant/collection of data can’t be used against an American citizen.     4) If all the above is true….I said, if all the above is true….then what other answer is there?

    If all the above is true, I suppose you could say that it was mere coincidence. But I have seen less cases won on circumstantial evidence.

The SC was making rulings that seemed way out of their league and were very politically driven. Obviously the goal was to pack the court with justices who saw it his way, over his tenure he wound up being able to appoint 8 anyway. However, the court got the message and they started being ruling more on the law and the WHOLE constitution and less political.

    Because the problems with IDEA and it’s implementation Nationally, is Congress’ problem.     There are Federal Immigration Laws. We are supposed to be a Nation of Laws. We are supposed to be law abiding citizens.

    So, If a Mayor or a city council decide to purposely ignore Federal Law…and purposely with fore thought, decide to violate the law…..why does that not make them criminals subject to the full force of the Law? So, if there is a sanctuary city, that is led by a council and Mayor and they instruct mmigrants on how to circumvent the law and instruct them not to cooperate with the law and instruct them to violate the law…..why are they not accomplices?

    IF an illegal commits a crime, any crime, and is not reported to Immigration as the Law dictates and the criminal is let go, why is there not “aiding and abetting”? If the same criminal commits a murder, why can you not indict the Mayor and the City council for manslaughter or for being an accomplice?

    If you are I drive a getaway car in a bank robbery, why are we an accomplice?

      Answer: It is in the wording of the laws and a SCOTUS ruling that the Feds cannot hijack a State Govt. and force it to “enforce” the federal laws.

      And the Mayor, etc. can be arrested for breaking laws if they directly interfere in the Feds action against a particular person. Obstruction of justice would be the charge.

      The States are not required to enforce Federal laws in any arena. This includes the EPA laws and regulations. Except that SCOTUS overrode Private Property rights and the “Taking Clause” when it comes to the Endangered Species Act. But even there the court did not say that the State “had to” enforce ESA against the private citizen. Only that the Fed’s had authority to force private landowners to comply with their rules.
