So…Who is the True Interventionist

So….Who is the true interventionist?

“Obama’s regime-change policy, like Bush’s, showed that the United States has the “reverse Midas Touch” — whatever it touches turns to chaos.”—–CNN, December 2016.

interven2The full quote of my teaser is this…. “More significant is the fact that even many of his (Obama) supporters believe, as Nobel committee secretary Geir Lundestad has written in his memoir, that the Nobel prize to him was “a mistake.” The Nobel committee awarded Obama the prize less than nine months after he assumed office in the hope that he would be fundamentally different from President George W. Bush, whose invasion and occupation of Iraq created a failed state.”

The paradox is that Obama, the supposed peacemaker, turned out to be a mirror image of Bush on foreign policy. This statement was also made so I decided to do a little fact checking and what I found is rather interesting. (1) To set himself apart from Bush’s aggressive “hard power” approach, Obama campaigned to become president on a foreign policy platform of “smart power.” Yet in office, Obama relied heavily on raw power, waging serial military campaigns from Somalia and Yemen to Iraq and Syria and initiating “targeted killing” of even U.S. citizens with suspected ties to terrorism. (2) Last year, for example, the United States, according to an analysis of military data, dropped more than 26,000 bombs in seven countries. This happened under a president who, while deploring the ethos of “might makes right,” told the United Nations that “right makes might.” (3) Another example, Obama did not seek U.N. or U.S. congressional authorization before launching an air war in Syria. In fact, he specifically justified his bombing campaign in Syria by relying on the unrelated congressional authority that Bush secured to go after those who “planned, authorized, committed or aided” the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The CIA Report on Middle East Studies said the following: “The 2011 U.S.-led operation against Libya’s Moammar Gadhafi began as a supposed humanitarian mission, only to quickly turn into a regime-change exercise, whose success quickly bred chaos and mayhem in Libya. Although goaded into the Libyan operation by his hawkish secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, Obama will be remembered in history for demolishing Libya in the same way that Bush unraveled Iraq. The collapse of the Libyan state has created a jihadist citadel at Europe’s southern doorstep.” When Mr. John Brennan was asked to respond to this report, he said the report is accurate.

The following analysis was presented by The Office of Strategic Services….( no, not the OSS of old ) , a little known intelligence office in the bowels of Washington DC……Obama’s CIA-led regime-change operation in Syria, although unsuccessful, contributed to plunging another secular Muslim autocracy into jihadist upheaval. Obama indeed presided over the birth of the most potent terrorist organization in modern history — Islamic State — which still controls large tracts of territory in Syria and Iraq even 29 months after Obama began an air war against it. As U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has admitted, the Obama team viewed the rise of IS as a possibly useful development to overthrow Syrian President Bashar Assad.”

intervenThe rise of IS represented just the latest example of how successive U.S. presidents since the 1980s have been fighting the consequences of their own shortsighted policies. The U.S. has first trained and armed non-state combatants in breach of international law, calling them “freedom fighters” or “the opposition.” Then it has branded the same militants as “extremists” and “terrorists” and waged war on them. This was the story of al-Qaida, made up largely of CIA-trained “freedom fighters” who, led by Osama bin Laden, turned on the U.S.

U.S. presidents, however, rarely learn from history, one of whose lessons is that the U.S. possesses, as one U.S. analyst has said, “the reverse Midas Touch” — whatever it touches “turns to mayhem.” Obama’s own creation of “moderate” rebel forces to topple Gadhafi has badly backfired, destabilizing not just Libya but also some other states in the Maghreb and the Sahel. Obama’s legacy also includes millions of uprooted Syrian, Libyan and Iraqi refugees, many of whom have flocked to Europe.

Obama did not change even the Bush-era Afghanistan strategy to use inducements — from billions of dollars in aid to the supply of lethal weapons — to prod the Pakistani military to go after the Haqqani network and get the Afghan Taliban to agree to a peace deal. With Washington clinging to a failed Pakistan policy, the longest war in U.S. history still rages in Afghanistan.

Obama’s legacy will clearly be defined as more war than peace. Obama embraced drone attacks with such alacrity — authorizing 506 known strikes, compared with the 50 strikes under Bush — that he has been dubbed “the drone president.” By dramatically boosting U.S. weapon exports, Obama also distinguished himself as the greatest arms exporter since World War II. During Obama’s tenure, as during Bush’s, the world not only became less peaceful but also America’s relative decline appeared to intensify. For example, in handling China — America’s principal long-term geopolitical rival — Obama’s policy unmistakably advertised U.S. weakness, including allowing Chinese aggression in the South China Sea to go scot-free.

Obama has handed down to Trump more theaters of war than he inherited from Bush. Add to the picture the deep political polarization in America over Trump’s election and the threat the establishment perceives from Trump’s out-of-the-box thinking on several sensitive subjects — from Russia and NATO to trade and the “one-China” policy.

Never before has a president assumed office in a major democracy with the deep state and mainstream media so unwelcoming to him. Seems to me that the ESTABLISHMENT is afraid of Trump……and for good reason.

Interesting article. I’ll continue to harp that Obama broke the law with the Libya attacks. That was an act of war against a sovereign nation, it should have been approved by Congress at the very least.

Question,,,who exactly is benefiting from these wars to protect the people from brutal dictators and bring democracy to them, which in most cases is an alien notion. It certainly is not the people whom the wars were claiming to be protecting. With millions of deaths and millions more maimed…and untold millions displaced…..please tell me who is benefiting? Could it possibly be people with even more ambition and desire for power and obviously more means than the leaders of the nations we are supposed to be saving?

        First Gulf War…August 2, 1990 – Feb 28m 1991

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1991_uprisings_in_Iraq

You will notice that in the NY Times article they talk about the use of WMD and genocide on the Kurds in the 80’s and the killing from an estimated 50K – 180K,

The uprisings by both the Kurds and Shia in the Basra area occurred AFTER Saddam’s defeat and withdrawal from Kuwait in late ’91 when the coalition still had massive resources in the theater. Their response to the ’91 uprising was a establishing a NO FLY zone and Saddam killed at a minimum of 150K and displacing millions…..How can the allies claim any MORAL high ground by allowing the slaughter to continue. They did nothing to stop it.

UN forces in Rwanda by order of Kofi Anan stepped aside and allowed the genocide of almost a million people….then charged some people of genocide, when the forces in that country could have STOPPED it before it began.

Our beloved military expert tells horrific stories about the Balkans and being a part of the UN “peacekeeping” forces.

Bottom line to me is that the people in power do not give a fig about the people they are supposed to be protecting.

Jump forward to today in Europe and ballooning in Canada as a major example. They are overseeing the destruction of their very own culture and well being over the opposition of the people they swore to protect…

Who is benefiting from all this continual chaos being created with no apparent resolution in place. “Democracy” is a weird concept practiced much less embraced by few people in the world or ever in its history. You have to have it instilled in your blood and culture to grasp it and all its inherent difficulties in dealing with “individuals” who believe they have a say in the direction the nation takes. You can not just plop millions of people who NEVER experienced nor lived in any way under a democracy, much less a Republic, nor had any concept of equal rights and have a totally different view of religion and government than the west does with them being secular and separating church and state.

It’s been very wet these past few days and pouring more often than not today. No outside work, so domestic engineering and SUFA surfing is the order of the day.

  2. Dale A. Albrecht says:

The more I read going back decades, We can go back to Truman even. I believe a president is allowed to do just about anything they want domestically just as long as they leave the machivellian international stuff alone and in the CIA’s hands and the President is to go along for his safeties sake and give legitmacy to the covert action . If they or any other politician goes against the plans of the lets call them international globalist by todays name they will suffer destruction. Either politically or even forfeit their lives.

As belicose as Obama was during his first campaign against anymore foreign intervention, he sure got into the program real quick. Every illegal indiscretion and violation of law has been never prosecuted and I doubt will Regardless of how egregious it was. Just look at HRC’s face during congressional hearing….she absolutely doesn’t give a fig because she knows nothing in the long run will happen to her or Bill.

Trump was a complete surprise in his victory over HRC and his entire campaign was to DRAIN the SWAMP. and stop all the covert and overt illegal actions by the government, deep six the Climate Change deal, TPP, renegotiate NAFTA revisit the Iran nuclear accord, ……he has to go, in their eyes, and there is no wait and see. If he is taken out office, you will see ALL investigations dropped in regards to HRC and the DNC etal. Pence will have gotten the message and will submit. There is so much evidence against HRC and her staff and others that is in hand, yet NO special prosecutor or serious investigation is happening even today. What is happening is smoke and mirrors. But immediately a prosecutor is named immediately to get trump at all costs, even instigated by a violation of law and lies and contradictions by Comey and innumerable conflicts of interest yet the charge continues to take him out..Rosenstein gave Mueller a carte blanc to get Trump and his family and allies.

.Take George Soros, he is a private citizen yet is actively undermining governments around the world with his actions and money. He could not exist unless he is doing the bidding of the international cabal giving the official governmental agencies cover

CIA got rid of the PM of Iran sustaining the Shah, yet it was Britains pet peeve not ours.
    CIA and Cuba
    CIA and Vietnam and Diem
    CIA and Allende and Pinochet
CIA totally missed the pending meltdown of the USSR feeding bad infomation to the government.
    BUSH I former CIA director
CIA totally messed up with their analysis instigating Gulf War II
CIA totally messed up Iran’s activities with terrible NIA’s ending with Iran getting everything
CIA up to their eyeballs in the overthrow of Libya and attempted overthrow Syria
CIA grants the Washington Post $600M dollars…isn’t Brazzos rich enough to fund his own newspaper.

The CIA has to be royally pissed off at Trump with his stopping any action to overthrown Assad and Syria and says the target is to be ONLY ISIS which as “moderates” which were fully armed and trained by the CIA…with links back to Benghazi and weapons running to support regime change…..

Think Bay of Pigs and the reported withdrawal of all advisors from Vietnam and the timing of Kennedy’s assasination.

Why would anybody put any credence in anything the CIA (or any of our intelligence agencies) says or does. Via computers they can manufacture anything especially evidence or make it disappear

Anyone else notice how the tin pot dictators around the world are all using Democratic Party rhetoric when referring to our President?

Anyone else notice how the old agenda of the Communists is being served by the Democratic Party whining and howling, let alone the Media concern over Mr.Trump’s rhetoric? Notice how they turn on OUR PRESIDENT instead of the Communists causing all the problems?

Makes you wonder if all those moles were flushed out after all.

I would love to call them out in a big way on this. It’s almost as if the Left have showed their true colors….and it are RED.

  4. Just A Citizen says:

I bring up that key question asked in the McCarthy video. Do you think the result of all this is ineptitude or deliberate. The answer was that if it was ineptitude then we should win one at least once in awhile.

WHO benefits from the USA mucking up the world and spreading our military ever thinner in foreign entanglements?

WHY do people claim the cold war ended when Communist China and N. Korea still exist and while Communism is continuing to fuel blood baths around the world? If it is not Communism then it is Jihad. But what is the difference in real terms?

    • JAC…….to us older folks that now see the hypocrisy….and who was actually part of the hypocrisy, unknowingly. ( Yes, I ended a sentence with an adverb but move on… it is no longer improper ). I was part of the B-50 TAG, project Omega in Ban Me Thout, Vietnam during the pullout….we were told to simply take off our berets, don black baseball caps and move our combat patch from our left shoulder to our right shoulder, folded up the flags and banners and that was our official exit from Vietnam. So, in one day, we went from 5th Special Forces to B-50 TAG ( Training Advisory Group, MACV ) and stayed right where we were. However, the CIA and other clandestine groups moved in with their unmarked aircraft, unmarked uniforms, unshaven faces, etc. Our paths never crossed except to support covert activities along the Laotian/Cambodian border. Air America was alive and well and used the runway at Ban ME Thout and we watched it all along.

In my dealings with Desert Shield/Storm, I never saw anything like that at all but, then, I had moved on from Special Forces because once you make Captain, the pinnacle gets a little tight at the top. But I had moved from Sneaky Pete, to regular combat arms/Armor.

One other thing that I noticed during the Vietnam War and the Kuwait theater…..was the media and their complicit role in those two campaigns. Walking lock step, not with the POTUS, but with an agenda of their own. That said, they knew how to fan the flames of the anti war set during Vietnam and the protests were not becuase of the war….the protesters had no clue….NOT ONE CLUE, of what was going on in Vietnam…but they played into the diversion hands of the media and the man behind the curtain.

The same thing is happening right this very minute and no one knows exactly what is happening. All these blogs that I have read where people, whom have never set foot in a combat operations, all these Black Lives Matters groups, and these Rainbow Coalitions….have no idea how bad they are being used as a diversion.

The upstart of it all…is I was falling victim to it again because of my lethargy. When Mathius and I have our friendly sparring times, I have realized, once again, how easy it is to be diverted from the real issues out there. I can see the makings of another article.

SO JAC…….I hit the rambling button this morning…sorry…..but to anser your questions or queries…..

      1) WHO benefits from the USA mucking up the world and spreading our military ever thinner in foreign entanglements?….D13 says: Follow the money.

      2) WHY do people claim the cold war ended when Communist China and N. Korea still exist and while Communism is continuing to fuel blood baths around the world?…D13 says: Because the cold war was not about Communism…it was a USSR thing and China was a non starter at that time. China moves in with a different brand of Communism in void that the USA/USSR created with their faux pas attitudes.

      3) If it is not Communism then it is Jihad. But what is the difference in real terms?
D13 says: There is not one whit of difference between Jihad and Communism…..follow the money.

      • Oh, I missed a question……it was ineptitude and it was deliberate. How’s that one?

      • I would like to add that once they stopped wearing “Mao” suits in China and appeared to adopt western business traits and a faux capitalism, the Wall Street honchos started loving them to death. “See, they’re just like us”. Unfortunately regarding the wall Street types, that is absolutely correct, not much difference between them and the PLO.

    • Dale A. Albrecht says:

JAC….I was wondering if anyone sat through the 3.75 hour video. One way to shut up a discussion for decades is to scream “McCarthyism” yet he was only a minor player at the tail end. Put it all together in the context of the time and the frustration of the FBI when they tried to get the WH and DOJ under Truman to do something. Yes I remember in the late 90’s when files were released and written up by Daniel Moynihan concluding that McCarthy was absolutely correct. But even then the DOJ has to do something with it. Which in the long run was NOTHING. The MSM then as in today are also entirely complicite in the charade and either whipping up some action or neglecting important issues that would derail the globalist plan.
I’m sure you have read what David Rockefeller deeply desired and that is a one world government. He stated as much in the 70’s. The Rockefeller Foundation funds a great deal of the major journalism schools, like Colombia.
I know for a fact that the Tehran Embassy takeover was a set up to create a supposed crisis, in which Carter was to be re-elected. I distinctly remember the headlines at the time. “No president has ever not been re-elected during a crisis”. The people said otherwise and elected Reagan. He had to eat the initial payoff set up by Carter, but based on actions by the clandestine forces for decades before and after, I would bet that the attempted assasination in ’82 was a direct result of him saying NO MAS. Blaming the attempt on a film with Jodie Foster and the assasin trying to impress her. Bush was Reagan’s VP and Haig his chief of staff CIA and cold warriors all. Reagan after his recovery went with the program…..the intelligence agencies see no need to change their faux scenerios because they work so well. Gulf of Tonkin, Tehran, Benghazi, Russian influence.

      What’s next?

      • Dale A. Albrecht says:

D13 says follow the MONEY. I totally agree. The original Rothchild used to say that he loaned money to both sides of a conflict. Regardless of which side won, he’d win and gain even more financial power..
Eisenhower warned in a famous speech about the military arms complex. He was not stupid and too much of a hero to take out. But he had had several heart attacks with which at any time he could die and besides he was at the end of his presidency and he went quietly into the night and retirement.

      • Just A Citizen says:

        Dale

Be careful. You got one leg down the rabbit hole. Don’t want to fall all the way in, it is very hard to get out.

As for the “follow the money”, that may be true in the end but I think MOST people think of this too narrowly. It is also about POWER. Yes, power brings money and to some they are the same, but to others they are not. Power is the elixir of immortality to the psychopath. So while the MIC may profit from war around the world, the MIC doesn’t completely control where or when such conflicts arise. There are Global Chess games in play. And the MIC is not in control of the board, in my opinion. They are but one of the pieces.

Personally, I think the Communist and leftist influence on how the US reacts and how it behaves is still dominant. Thus the immediate condemnation of any POTUS who dares stand up to some Dictator or Tyrannical Govt. Thus the constant beating up the USA as the true evil empire.

I think this influence is not as direct as it once was, as the old guard educated the new guard. The new guard think they are original thinkers, not knowing how they have been influenced by their elders. This can be especially strong in Federal Agencies and among prominent “think tanks” like the Council on Foreign Relations.

I also think it is “possible” the “Soviet” goals and tactics never actually disappeared completely. I wasn’t sure until this last election. The meddling in our election revealed they are still at the same old game. And YES, that means I think someone in Russia was involved in the various shenanigans. Especially the trolling of the internet in order to feed fake news into our public dialogue. What people don’t realize is that their ultimate goal may not have been the impact the election but to undermine the US proper. The election could have just been a test to see how the “trolling” would impact our media and public behavior.

Oh, I did watch the entire video on McCarthy. That is the second time I watched it. All I could think of was Chris Matthews ranting on and on during the primaries about how Ted Cruz was so “Joe McCarthy”. Matthews tries to make people think he was there and thus an expert. I thought he might have awoken when he asked Wasserman/Shultz if the Democratic Party had become the American Socialist Party. When he didn’t get a direct NO a true shiver should have run up his spine. But he soon went back to the same old left wing bantering and badgering.

        • Dale A. Albrecht says:

One of the things we have commented on in the past was a rhetorical comment about where all the communists went after the collapse of the USSR. “They went into the Green Party”

Either you or Stephen said that Putin is laughing until he cries. A bit of disinformation goes a long way. Just watch how we are tearing ourselves apart. That lawyer planted seeds on both sides..Right out of a KGB playbook.

Agreed…communists/socialists that do not hold our country’s best interests in hand are so embedded in every facet of our government and educational systems. Sanders has never varied on what he believes in. The only thing he fibs at is calling himself an independent. He is a dyed in the wool communist and came a hairs breath away from being POTUS. As Mayor of Burlington he with pride had the Cuban flag prominently behind his desk. He loved Castro and wished we’d be more like him and his regime. He actively encouraged destruction of GE property in Burlington because they manufactured the Vulcan gun system there. Then would refuse to have the city attorney’s prosecute any violators of GE’s property….why these weapons could be used against his friends in the name of Daniel Ortega and others….end quote. I used to live there. He did nothing to stop the destruction and takeover of UVM and the protesters demands for social justice and more diversity. The governor of the time put a stop to it. It was not Howard Dean.

As a retiree from at&t and Scott Adams being a former PacBell employee, I could not read Dilbert while working. It was so painfull to read, being so true. he always claimed that he did not have to invent any scenario, employees would feed him unlimited material. It was also true while I worked for IBM. So I come home yesterday from helping my elderly Aunt re-side her garage and learn of the protests in Virginia between the white supremacists and…..and…..and. It was unclear who the riots were against, but lets just say, counter-protester/anti-free speech rioters for the purpose of this comment.

While I detest white supremacists for what they stand for, they, just like the BLM with their “hands up don’t shoot lie” have the Right to march and protest/rally. They attempted to do so legally, with the appropriate government required permission slip. They were then met by anti racists Leftist’s and violence ensued. So who is at fault for the violence? The WS’s were seemingly ready for a fight, which is their norm. The AFSN (Anti Free Speech Nazi’s) were also ready for a fight. A fight occurred. The wrong occurred by the AFSN, who, while having the right to protest, DO NOT have the Right ti interfere with a legal protest, not to mention they didn’t have their government permission slip. Even the media had it all wrong last night, including FOX.

In retrospect. another march/protest happened along the Southern border, protesting the wall. The pro-wall people didn’t show up and interfere or fight with these people.

Conclusion: The divide grows and the AFSN’s get away with shutting down free speech again. The adults were home tending to family matters or working.

    • I’ve learned to ignore the news when stuff like this goes down. I turned the TV on after work only long enough to find all hell broke loose in Va. Listened to the basic headline, then bailed quickly. So at this point I have several questions.

      1) Who got the permit for the Unite the Right march?
      2) Who was the opposition at the March?
      3) Aren’t both sides anti Trump? and so therefore…
      4) Why don’t they just team up and be one team.
      5) What was the purpose of the march? Was it over that statue of Lee that was taken down? If so, how is any of that Trump’s fault?
      6) I need to know where I fit in. I’m white, and I’m all for the nationalist/populist thing, so does that make me a White Nationalist? who’s side am I on…but wait…they said the White Nationalists were fighting…about what?
      7) I disagree with White Supremacy. Does that make me anti Trump?
      8) I saw a couple BLM posters in the few minutes I had the TV on. Who’s side were they on and did they have a part in any violence?
      9) I didn’t see any American flags, no MAGA hats, no nothing to make it appear to be an American rally/march, so again, how is this Trump’s fault?
      10) I heard the talking head say something about a police stan down…again. Who’s genius idea was that? I thought that part was being dealt with as the police HAD BEEN cracking down on Antifa in Oregon.
11)Speaking of Antifa, who’s side were they on?

      I have a headache……

      • What you are seeing is racial divide….there has always been racial divide and there will always be racial divide….however, these are extremists out there and I could care less. Let them kill each other.

        • We, too, have our detractors.

But this quote says it all>

Pretending to find a moral equivalency between white hate groups violently protesting the removal of a Confederate statue from a city park and counter-protesting anti-racist groups is grotesque.

          Counter-protesting anti-racist groups….were violent, if I remember correctly.

Someone tell me the difference between Black Lives Matters and any white supremacist group……besides the spelling.

  11. Dale A. Albrecht says:

Your post pretty much sums up what I observed while flipping through different news outlets from MSM to alt media.

Most video posted showed the counter protesters reaching out and doing things like macing the marchers as they went by.

My overall impression though was that both sides were 5 cans short of a 6 pack. They were both angry and spoiling for a fight and something inevidable was going to happen.

Both sets of protesters looked incapable of having any sort of rational discourse to settle their differences. Or even relate their own ideal in any way.

Now if I got the sequence correct….there was a legally sanctioned protest march, regardless of what we think of their ideals. There was a heavy police presence. There was an equally sized and idealistic group at first just lined the periphery of the march route. Small harassing incidents all along the march…..The sanctioned marchers finished and went home as did the police. leaving the opposing team on the field. They formed an unsanctioned march and continued through Charlottsville. Then the incident happened with the car.
Question….why did the police and other government forces leave so quickly when one side left the area and an equally beligerant force was left unattended when they formed up and continued an unsanctioned “parade”? Especially when all video I saw showed it was this opposition force reaching out and commiting actions meant to provoke an equally violent response.

    • Dale A. Albrecht says:

Wasn’t the whole protest centered around the plan that the mayor had to remove/move a statue of Robert E Lee?

Here’s a what if….I wonder what the response would be if a group wanted to put up a statue to honor Robert E Lee in Harpers Ferry when he defended the US from a terrorist called John Brown who wanted to ignite a war in the US.

    • Ah, hadn’t read your post before posting my questions. I see a couple answers here but I’m still lost. I don’t know where I fit in. Sounds like I don’t want to be on either side.

      • Anita…..it is nothing, It is not a question of being on the other side. The sad part of all of this is the removal of history…like getting rid of a statue of Robert E. Lee is going to solve problems. If people’s feelings are getting hurt because of something they know nothing about happened in the 1800’s….the time is to feel sorry for them…not because of what happened but because of they have no idea of what or why they are protesting and they are stupid.

The supremacist groups, no matter the race, are low class ass holes. Leave it at that.

        • Just A Citizen says:

You realize don’t you that just feeling sorry for them allows them to dictate to the rest of us what things we get to keep in public, whether to remind us of historical events or honor historical figures.

That is the awful part of where we are. We all make fun of the snowflakes and asshats, yet they keep getting what they want. They are dictating the terms to the rest of us. Because we are afraid of what happens to us if we confront them directly.

That is why the media portrayed this event the way they did. Dare stand up for a statue of Lee and when the others come for you, we ill stand with the others.

          • Of course, JAC. Feeling sorry for someone does not have to change my action. I can feel sorry for someone in my crosshairs….and still pull the trigger. I get what you are saying though…

In addition he spent the final five years of his life trying to bind the nations wounds and bring us all back together.

When Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain took the surrender of Lee’s Army he called his troops to attention as the former rebels marched past to lay down their battle standards. Over 150 years ago, Chamberlain demonstrated more damned class than the entire left wing in the United States does today. “with charity towards all, with malice towards none”.

The weekend has brought us the annual running of the White Supremacists, which never even started before becoming violent, by non other than the violent Left “by any means necessary” crowd. This isn’t new and will happen again. People will get hurt and killed at events like these, and that will probably get worse in time.

I would like to point out that I’m not buying that these white supremacists are “right wing or alt-right” in any way form or fashion. I say this because I don’t know who they actually vote for or what political views they have. What I do know is that the Liberal media has lied time and again. The Liberal’s who have long claimed the Nazi’s were “right wing” when they were just socialist’s on steroids is a prime example of the Liberal lies trying to hide their own views and past.

For the last 8 plus years, the term racist, bigot and other terms have been so cheapened by the Liberal’s and their lapdog media that they have no real negative meaning anymore. It’s just a word Liberal’s call everyone who disagrees with them. The term has cheapened so much that they have taken on a few new terms to cheapen, white nationalism/white nationalists and white supremacy/white supremacists. They will use these terms as much as racist and after time, they will mean the same thing…..just another term that the Left uses for those who disagree with them.

Just like the last 8 years or so, identity politics will fail them. So, please continue Liberal’s, call us all the names you can muster, we all see where the division in the country is coming from.

    OH….Good Morning SUFA 😀

There is a “direct line” between how President Donald Trump’s campaign played on the nation’s “worst prejudices” and the rioting that ended in the deaths of three people in Charlottesville this weekend, Charlottesville Mayor Mike Signer said Sunday. “Look at the campaign he ran,” Signer told Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “I mean, look at the intentional courting, both on the one hand of all these white supremacists, white nationalists, a group like that, anti-Semitic groups, and then look on the other hand the repeated failure to step up, condemn, denounce, silence, you know, put to bed all those different efforts, just like we saw yesterday.”

I’m still waiting on at least ONE Liberal to quote a racist statement by Trump. As you can see the Left’s lying narrative continues with the cheapening of of the terms mentioned. We’ll be seeing a lot of these two terms in the coming 7.5 years 😀

  16. gmanfortruth says:

In Dallas, a black nationalist activist shot and killed 5 police officers at a Black Lives Matter anti-police rally. Instead of condemning BLM, Barack Obama defended a racist hate group whose role model is Assata Shakur, a wanted black nationalist cop killer, at the funerals of the murdered officers.

The left killed civil rights and replaced it with black nationalism. The racial supremacism of black nationalism that killed those officers is everywhere. Ta-Nehisi Coates and Ibram X. Kendi are lionized as brilliant thinkers instead of hateful racists, Amazon has ordered a black nationalist secessionist fantasy from Aaron McGruder and Showtime aired ‘Guerilla,’ a miniseries glamorizing Black Panther terrorism.

But racism is a two-way street. So is violence. Extremists feed into each other.

You can’t legitimize one form of racism without legitimizing all of them. The media may advance this hypocritical position. Obama used the shameful “reverse racism” euphemism that distinguishes between black and white racism. But propaganda and spin don’t change the physics of human nature.

Either all racism is bad. Or all racism is acceptable.

Charlottesville is what happens when you normalize racism and street violence. Every normalization of extremism equally normalizes the extremism of the opposite side.

A civil society depends on a consensus. ‘Racism is bad’ is an example of such a consensus. If you normalize black nationalism, you will get more white nationalism. If you normalize leftist street violence against Trump supporters, you will also get more street violence against leftists.

Extremists want to eliminate the consensus of civil society. They want to destroy the idea that there’s any solution except violence through confrontations that show the helplessness of civil society.

That’s true of black nationalists and white nationalists, of Communists and Nazis, of Antifa and Vanguard, of the tankies and hipster Nazis of the Alt-Left and the Alt-Right. They’re a set of evil twins and when you unleash one, you unleash the other. Their real enemies aren’t each other, but everyone in the middle. The bourgeois normies who don’t want to replace society with their totalitarian nightmare.

Street violence raises the bar so that only the violent will participate in protests. If you “no platform” campus speakers, then the only speakers you get will be those willing to face bomb threats, arson, and physical assaults. If you fire people for their views, political activism becomes the province of anonymous trolls and unemployed street thugs. Extremism limits political discourse to extremists.

If Democrats really want to stop the rise of Neo-Nazi violence, there’s a very easy way. Stop normalizing black nationalism and the Alt-Left. End the racist witch hunts for white privilege. Make it clear that street violence is unacceptable and that racism is bad no matter who it comes from. Allow people you disagree with to express their views without trying to destroy their lives.

But that’s the opposite of what the Dems will do. They don’t want fewer Neo-Nazis; they want more of them. They don’t want fewer attacks like Charlottesville and Charleston. They want more of them.

The Dems have become an extremist party run by the radical left. Obama, Holder, and Lynch made common cause with black nationalist hate groups against civil society. It began when Obama defended the vile racism of Jeremiah Wright and concluded with DOJ organized race riots. DNC boss Tom Perez addresses La Raza and his deputy Keith Ellison is a veteran of the Nation of Islam.

The radical left wants to see Neo-Nazis gain prominence on the right to polarize the country. It wants to see our values and norms drowned in violence so that it has an excuse to eliminate free speech. It seeks to eliminate democracy by making the other side appear nightmarishly dangerous. It plots to impose a totalitarian system on the United States by empowering extremists to destroy the current system.

Video interview with an alternative news reporter: It was peaceful until Antifa showed up.

  18. Well…….. that was an eventful weekend…..

  19. I have a question for anyone with the guts to answer…..

If Colonel D13 applies, pays, and recieves a permit to march against {{{insert whatever here}}} and does so peaceably. Enjoying the sunshine and chanting whatever I wish to chant in accordance with all known applicable laws. It does not matter at all what I wish to protest because it is my right to protest whatever I want.

Now, enter from side stage, an anti {{{insert whatever here}}} and the anti’s have no permit, paid for nothing, and did not go through the machinations of law and procedure and starts to throw things, spray mace, spit, whatever on me any my followers….

Do I have a right to protect myself from any type of violence by any means necessary?

    • Allow me to be more specific…..if someone breaks the police barrier runs up to me with pepper spray and starts spraying in my face…and I pull out my equalizer and blow a hole in him/her big enough to fly a B-2 through,,,,,,and I within my rights of self defense?

      • Just A Citizen says:

        YES.

        • D13: if someone breaks the police barrier runs up to me with pepper spray and starts spraying in my face…and I pull out my equalizer and blow a hole in him/her big enough to fly a B-2 through

          JAC: YES.

Same question as asked to Mr. The Colonel: If a toddler kicks you in the shin, can you blow his brains out in “self defense”?

    • A question that cannot be asked, anywhere but places like this where the “conventional” is challenged.

Initial footage showed the fascistic anti-fascists to be attired in their usual face coverings to prevent identification. As things progressed, that footage disappeared in favor of the wildest looking loonies on the other side.

You cannot tell me that the Governor of the State of Virginia did not, relish every moment of this.

Here is another question that cannot be asked: had a monument which is actually on the National Register of Historic Places not suddenly been scheduled for removal, would any of this have happened?

Better get down to DC quickly and view the Washington Monument because as sure as God made little green apples, it is going…….They will push, back off, push, back off, push back off as many times as necessary but ultimately when they have yet again gelded the average citizen, there will be a whole lot of aggregate available

    • If Colonel D13 applies, pays, and recieves a permit to march against {{{insert whatever here}}} and does so peaceably.

Mr. Colonel is allowed to protest whatever he wants. Provided he is not disruptive (eg, not blocking traffic), I do not even subscribe to the belief that he needs a permit. However, assuming that it is a major demonstration requiring street closures and/or police activity, then yes. He needs a permit.

Provided his is peaceful in his march and does not actively instigate violence, he may protest as he wishes. I may not like it. But he may do so. To suggest otherwise would be to suggest that only opinions I agree with have standing under the First Amendment, and that is preposterous.

In fact, it is precisely to the contrary – that opinions with which I disagree must be protected the most ardently.

      That goes for Nazis.

      That even goes for vegans.

Now, enter from side stage, an anti {{{insert whatever here}}} and the anti’s have no permit, paid for nothing, and did not go through the machinations of law and procedure

People are allowed to protest. Anti-protest as well.

As before, provided they do not become disruptive / require public resources, then they are free citizenry who are permitted to do whatever they want, and that includes counter protesting / counter demonstrating.

and starts to throw things, spray mace, spit, whatever on me any my followers….

You have no right to be violent. Period.

      Full stop.

I don’t care if you have a permit, or the other guys are actual, literal, Nazis. You do not get to engage in violence except as self-defense.

      Easy?

Now, when the two groups “clash” and there’s no clear “he started it,” I would generally defer to the legal group as having more standing. They were there to march, and would (presumably) have been non-violent if you hadn’t shown up. It’s like a train on a track – if you park your car on the track, it’s going to get hit.. but it’s not the train’s fault – the train was going that way regardless – it was the car’s fault for setting up an avoidable conflict.

That said, if you think you won’t be able to control your members and avoid violence, you should probably just schedule your counter-march for the next weekend.

Do I have a right to protect myself from any type of violence by any means necessary?

You have the right to protect yourself from any typo of physical violence by any the minimal means necessary.

To suggest otherwise would be to suggest that you can respond to a shove by shooting the guy in the head. You can’t. You can engage in as much counter-violence as necessary to end the treat an no more (plus a little wiggle room).

.if someone breaks the police barrier runs up to me with pepper spray and starts spraying in my face…and I pull out my equalizer and blow a hole in him/her big enough to fly a B-2 through,,,,,,and I within my rights of self defense?

No. Because even though he is at fault, and you are within your rights to defend yourself, his pepper spray is non-lethal. You can shoot him in the leg. Punch him in the face. Etc.

But “blowing a hole in him big enough to fly a B-2 through” is a disproportionate response. It is murder under the guise of self-defense. I get that things happen fast, and that you need a margin of comfort, but you know the guy with the pepper spray can’t kill you, so you should know that you can’t kill him. He is wrong. But that doesn’t give you the justification to be wrong, too. As I keep telling my 5 year old, two wrongs don’t make a right.

      • Ahhhh…..so you subscribe to the proportional response theory…….fair enough. Some states that I have researched prescribe that…and some states say absolutely not. There are a couple of states that believe in what ever response you use is ok…There are a couple of states that claim any right of self defense that results in death could be a homicidal act with intent. ( Well, Ok, if I pull the equalizer…it will be with intent )…..in some states, you have a right to even protect private property with lethal force even if such lethal force is not directed at you specifically. ( Cut a barbed wire fence in Texas, you are dead…but I suppose that would be in Montana, Idaho, etc and any other cattle raising place ).

But thank you, and, please, keep me informed of your research.

        • Forget the relevant laws.

I ask you this, as plainly as I can: If I threaten you with non-lethal force, are you justified in killing me?

As a followup: If a toddler kicks you in the shin, can you shoot him in the head in defense?

As a second followup: If you answered “yes” and “no,” what is the difference?

          • Forgetting relevant laws……..

Threatening me and using it is something different. You can wave a gun at me and not point it…I do not shoot back….you point it, I will be faster than Cole Younger….wait, he was not very fast……ummmm…….Clint Eastwood.

NOw, seriously, if you come up to me with a rock in your hand or a club, I will shoot you where you stand and I will do so even if I am trained well enough to disarm you without firing a shot. Let me elaborate some….you are going to have to be in my space…meaning close enough to do harm…a club, you will be within striking distance…if you are throwing a brick, large enough to kill me if I do not dodge it or unable to dodge it from a bridge..I would take careful aim.

If a toddler comes up to me with the same, I will laugh and disarm him.

The two are different for two reasons…age and the ability to reason. A toddler has no reasoning whatsoever….you know that first hand. I am sure you have scratched your head many times with your young ones thinking….”Why in the world did you do that?”

  20. It has come to Mathius’ attention that individuals who participated in the “Nazi March” are having their faces posted online along with captions along the lines of “Do you know me? Do I work with you? I participated in the Nazi March.” – the goal, openly stated, is to dox these individuals and give them personal consequences. Supposedly, people are using face matching technology and Facebook to out participants.

Allegedly, so far, at least one person has lost his job.

Now, I have a lot of reading to do because I have almost no idea what the hell happened this weekend (there was a march, a counter march, something about a statue of Lee, something about white supremacy, a helicopter crash, a neo-Nazi running over a bunch of people, and a partridge in a pair tree). But I do know this – even though I am not a big fan of Nazis, I can say that I don’t really like the idea of a coordinated effort to “expose” them.

I think it has a chilling effect on free speech (and a march is free speech). And I think it is a double-edged sword that people should think very hard about using. It has echos of “are you now, or have you ever been, a Communist Party?”

It’s too tempting when you have the insurmountable moral high-ground to think (well, let me break out this shiny new big stick and start whacking people who really, really deserve it).. but that’s the thing about shiny new big sticks. They start out as a one-off for extreme situations and, next thing you know, well, everyone’s got one. And then everyone is a loser.

    • Nicely said. I actually wonder if all the folks I watched marching that first night were ALL Nazi’s or White Supremacists. Pardon my skepticism but I would really like to see some “organizing material” for the march calling on all white supremacists and Nazis to show up. In the past these events have been coordinated by various Southern Heritage groups like “Sons of the Confederacy”. How about showing us the parade permits? What group took them out? If it was the Nazi’s then, as usual, the very best way to deal with them was by ignoring them. Creating a cause celebre is NOT very bright unless there is an ulterior motive……ah, the conspiracy bug bites yet again. .

I wonder how many people know that Bobby Lee’s bust is in the former NYU (now Bronx Community College Campus) Hall of Fame in the Bronx? Been there since about 1900.

      • I remember one KKK march in my lifetime. People either stayed home and shunned them or stood at the side of the road and condemned them with words. I don’t remember any physical confrontations but that may have been because the police were allowed to do their jobs. At the end of the match the KKK marched off into relative obsurity.

        • Ignoring them is, of course, the right answer… as long as you don’t think they have power.

Ignoring them if they have power – or a potential path to power – is ill advised (see also, you know, actual Nazis).

The problem, whether you or I agree, is that many on the left view Trump as being too.. cozy.. or perhaps tolerant.. of these types of people. True or not (and we could debate for days), that’s the perception by many on the left. And, if you think the President might be an ally of the neo-Nazis, a neo-Nazi rally cannot go unanswered.

Because, of course, a non-response would be viewed as weakness. And, if you are perceived as weak, that only emboldens the opposition. In such an environment, a show of force is called for.

So it’s easy to see why many on the left might have felt it necessary to respond rather than ignore. I’m not sure I agree (I still have a lot of catching up to do re this weekend), but I don’t think it’s so cut-and-dry.

          • Question, sir. Do you see a difference of BLM and KKK? If so, what is it?

            • I think BLM are 99% peaceful people who are just spook by the (real or imagined) perception that police seem to be willing and able to kill black people in 21st century America with little-to-no provocation, and to do so with impunity. I think they see things like Trayvon Martin getting killed and think “hey, this is some bullshit right here” and then the guy doesn’t go to jail and they think “this whole system is rigged. If that had been a white kid, the guy would be on death row.” Then another black guy goes into a cop car ok, and comes out with fatal head-wounds? Then another black guy – this time mentally ill – gets choked to death while begging for his life and saying “I can’t breath” and – again and again – the cops go free. No charges, no repercussions. And the media focuses on, what? That the guy was selling cigarettes illegally? Or some other mitigating, victim-blaming aspect of the incident? I think they see a trend, and they’re scared, and they want to push back. Because they think that the American criminal system treats black lives as less than white lives.

I may disagree with them in terms of the extent, but I think it’s a tough sell to suggest that their concerns are wholly unfounded.

I think there are some “agitators” in the group giving the whole a bad name. Much like our discussion of feminism, which contains a small faction of femi-nazis, the whole group identity suffers as a consequence, while the majority labor in obscurity to make the world a better place.

              ——

As for the KKK, I think there used to be a legitimate core of people just trying to protect conservative Christian values. Sure, many, if not most, if not all, of them were racist to some degree, but it was a different era and it would be apples-and-oranges to judge them by today’s standards. The 99% of the movement weren’t violent murders dragging the darkies behind their horses. They were ordinary housewives concerned about people coming in a upending their societies and changing their cultures. I get it. But, within that movement, 1% were the cross burning, lynching types. I think, over time, this 1% has completely ousted the other 99%. I think, as the KKK became more extreme, and the views more outdated, that vocal 1% took over the movement. And the good folks mosied along, leaving behind only racists extremists.

Today, the only members of the KKK are the moral inheritors of that radical and racist core.

I don’t think you join the KKK out of concern for your Christian values unless you also happen to think that white folk are the master race.

              ——

Perhaps, over time, the BLM will follow suit. But it has not reached that point. At this point, they just want some justice and a subset are giving them PR problems.

              • Vis a vis our prior conversations on words and language.

You said SPOOK and BLM in the same sentence. I’m saving this. NEVER plan to run for anything!

Next thing you know, you will be using the word niggardly!

              • A) I’ll never run for office. I just wouldn’t be willing to drag my family through that.

                B) I actually got in trouble in elementary school for just that. I had to fight with the teacher (black) and principal (black) that the etymology is different and that the words have nothing to do with each other other than sounding similar. (turns out, having your dad on the board helps, but I’m convinced I won on the merits). It has since been scrubbed from my vocabulary because I just don’t need that kind of hassle in my life.

B.2) That same principal gave me detention a week later for “graffiti” when I used chalk on the sidewalk during dismissal. I’m sure the two events are unrelated.

              • Well if you remember that SF councilman’s aide had to resign for the same reason. I have been informed by reliable sources that even using the word SPOOK anymore in a conversation about the CIA is a no-go. That’s just how goddamed dumbed down the world is.

I guess pretty soon , the internet will XXXX out those words automatically.

              • I guess pretty soon , the internet will XXXX out those words automatically.

Then you’ll enjoy this. People have devised plug-ins for your browser that turn youtube comments into literal (as opposed to nearly-literal) gibberish.

Another plug-in scrubs any mention of the Kardashians. You can safely browse the internet and never see a link or story or picture of any of them.

Lastly, a personal favorite, though I hear it doesn’t work very well. Based on a comic, someone made a plug in that converts any reference to military spending into the dollar-equivillent of domestic aid. So, for example, “The military dropped 400 full-ride scholarships to Harvard on Syria today.”

    • Very insightful and correct…..HOWEVER, when you finish your reading and research, would you please enlighten me on the research of a “Partridge in a PAIR tree”…..now, it is possible that you meant a partridge in a pair O’ trees….or you could easily be alluding to the ever present PEAR tree as outlined in the famous but redundant 12 days of Christmas with the exception of Texas, of course….there were 13 days of Christmas…but that is another story….

Now, I am sure that Mathius had a typo without the aid of Red Bull but I know that he will not ever admit to that….( I still do not have a keyboard that has learned how to properly spell and use correct grammar and punctuation )…but in today’s environment that Mathius has so eloquently pointed out to me, words now take on different connotations….SO…..it could be that pair is correct. It could be that with a weekend of Grog he is seeing a pair of everything. And being somewhat a self prescribed form of a renegade Jew, perhaps his reference to a Christmas song has a different meaning.

THAT SAID……the Colonel wishes Mathius a good day…..and stay away from the hedge funds on the Freddie MAc and Fannie Mae sell offs.

-The Daily Stormer, a white supremacist website, about Mr. Trump’s statement after the two days of racist demonstrations.

The Daily Stomer has been taken down by GoDaddy (their hosting service) – which is a matter for another conversation – but I was wondering what y’all think of this.

I, personally, think Trump (like all politicians) is an opportunist. He is happy to let everyone he can think that he’s on their side. So he doesn’t condemn the white supremacists, which lets them think he’s on their side, but neither does he condone them, which allows him plausible deniability. I don’t think Trump is actually a white supremacist, but I don’t think he would be happy to become one if it suited his political needs. And I do think he’s happy to help real white supremacists think that he’s one of them – hey, more votes and more donations, right?

    But what do y’all think?

    • I think that you are correct…..no different than Obama “endorsing” BLM….they are politicians and will react….I am a little surprised at Trump, personally…He lost a share of stock with me this weekend.

      Mathius

In response to CNN Jake Tapper’s attempt to claim Trump would not distance himself from Duke’s support, he made these comments. I clipped this from an Illinois media web page, circa 2016.

Donald Trump said Sunday he rebukes the support of David Duke, the white supremacist who recently launched a Senate campaign in Louisiana, who said he was inspired by Trump’s nomination.

But would he support a Democrat over Duke if that’s what it took to keep the former Ku Klux Klan leader from winning?

“I guess, depending on who the Democrat (is) — but the answer would be yes,” Trump told NBC’s Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press.”

Trump said he wanted to make clear that he rebukes Duke “as quick as you can say it.”

“Because last time with another person in this position, I did it very quickly. And they said, ‘He didn’t do it fast enough,’ ” Trump said. “Rebuked. Is that OK? Rebuked, done.”

His reference to “last time” was an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” in February.

“Just so you understand, I don’t know anything about David Duke, OK?” Trump had said.

Trump was pressed three times by Tapper on whether he would distance himself from support from the Ku Klux Klan.

“I don’t know anything about what you’re even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists,” Trump said then. “So I don’t know. I don’t know — did he endorse me, or what’s going on? Because I know nothing about David Duke; I know nothing about white supremacists.”

He later blamed his answer on a “bad earpiece.”

Later on Sunday Trump’s running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, also denounced Duke, over Twitter.

“Well said @realDonaldTrump on #MTP. There will never be a place in our party for that man or his hateful rhetoric.”

Now for those who have been claiming all weekend that supporting Trump is supporting Nazis, I posted the following: Was supporting Mr. Obama also supporting the Communists?

Because you see, the American Communist Party endorsed Mr. Obama. And to my knowledge he NEVER disavowed their support. Of course this last go ’round they endorsed Bernie.

      Mathius and D13

I have a different take. Trump does not like to be bullied into anything. I doubt he cares one whit about white supremacist votes. Here is the reality. Unless they have their own part they almost certainly vote for Republicans, if they vote at all. Because R’s are the least worst choice they have.

And the actual number of “white supremacists” is to small to matter. And anyone in politics knows this.

What we have in Trump was an America First and pro. law and order, including border enforcement converging with some of the views of these racist groups. Creating the illusion of alignment and solicitation of support. But notice who is actually pushing the narrative that Trump is always blowing some mystical dog whistle?

      • Check and double check.

        The COPS blew it!

      • Agreed sir…..but, even me, the retired old Colonel who knows nothing….thinks Trump missed a great opportunity. But, that is MY opinion….and opinions are like belly buttons…everybody has one…..

Well, maybe not everybody…I often wondered if Adam and Eve ever had a belly button…

        • I do not think he could say anything that would not be tortuously analyzed 933 ways from hell and still come out bad in the eyes of the Washington Post and NYT. Just my opinion but note that they are all back on the “he didn’t condemn David Duke” bandwagon again.

I would like to have an honest (hah, hah, hah), journalist create a timeline for what happened this past weekend as well as pull together ALL available video footage of who did what to whom when. I’ve also seen a couple of photos of people marching with swastika flags (big MoFo’s) without any attribution and wonder if these are or are not related to the march or to Charlotte or to this decade.

Trust no one seems to be more and more appropriate as time goes by.

          • analyzed 933 ways….totally agree. Sooner or later people are going to realize that a big federal government is useless, because there is no way to legislate peace and harmony for 300 million people. So, the less of it, the better. I keep wondering if that’s the end game with Trump. One thing for sure, the government will have far fewer people running it by the time he’s done. He laughed off (it was funny, what he said) the 700 returning from Russia, saying “Good, less payroll”

          • The Prez did what the Colonel suggested now let us see if it changes the rhetoric on the Leftie side.

            • ::gazes into crystal ball::

Left response: too little, too late.

              • D13 {{{{grabs crystal ball…dribbles it basketball style….shakes it….throws it}}}} Hands it back to Mathius…..Look again, sir.

              • ::gazes into slightly blurry crystal ball::

                “Ask again later.”

              • Of course! But the bummer could get away with contemplating what happened in Dallas to the five cops for weeks, like Hamlet at Elsinore. That was, I believe, yet another example of statesmanship.

People complain about him because the brighter ones knew he was nothing but a figurehead. An empty vessel.

            • gmanfortruth says:

Trump could have shot the driver of the Charger that hit those people and the Left would complain about the caliber, type of gun, bullet placement and if he killed him they’d bitch about that too. It don’t matter, they simply hate that it’s not Clinton and will pout about it till they die.

              • A) We both know there’s no way Trump would have any clue what to do with a a gun.
                B) We’d probably object to the head of the executive branch for murdering someone with a trial regardless of circumstances.
                C) Yes, we do bitch about him a lot.
                D) Yes, we do hate that it’s not Clinton. But, to be honest, the right has bitched more about Clinton lately than the left. (personally, I’m still upset it’s not Sanders)
                E) Lest we forget, there is literally nothing Obama did, or could have done, that the right wouldn’t have bitched about, while completely ignoring comparable (or worse) behavior in Trump.

  22. It’s no wonder I live in a simpler world than the rest of you guys. I missed a day somewhere. It was that 13th day of Christmas. Musta been where they threw in the complications. It’s so much easier being oblivious. Here’s lookin at you, Colonel.

  23. WAIT……………..Anita……………..you said….” It’s so much easier being oblivious. Here’s lookin at you, Colonel.”………….you…you….am I really oblivious?

  24. gmanfortruth says:

I’m going to take a stand and give Trump a thumbs up on his comments related to the events this weekend. First of all, it was clear that the Antifa losers were the cause of the violence. If they stay home, this march ends peacefully. Trump duty as President is to defend the Constitution, which includes the Free Speech of those who are clearly bigots. There are white bigots and those who have been prejudice against white people, the latter of which has been happening a lot. I didn’t hear or see one person on the Left condemn the feminists when they disallowed Jews to join their march, or BLM get knocked for kicking white people to the back of the march. Nothing but crickets from the Liberal’s on those issues. This video puts some of this into perspective. Note: as a veteran, I condemn the white racist fringe groups and their sick twisted ideology, but I will defend their Right to be who they are as long as they act within our laws. Free Speech is for everyone, even the ones we don’t like or agree with. The bullshit about Trump is just that, bullshit.

  25. gmanfortruth says:

      • Oh Mathius……..this is soooo funny…..and coming from you. I know you are left but you are not stupid…..Do we really need to debate this one?

        • Was the economy of late 2008 peaches and sunshine and I’m just mis-remembering?

I seem to remember having just gotten a job at one of the best hedge funds in the country after having been specifically recruited with promises that they’d never had a layoff… and then the world fell apart and, being the new guy, I got hit with a layoff. Or did I imagine that?

Or was the economy a post-apocalyptic hellscape through October 2016 and then, just now, turned into the aforementioned peaches and sunshine?

The way I see it, I think, we can all agree that 2008 was a shit-pile. So, either the economy recovered substantially under Obama (not completely – “substantially”) or it didn’t. If it did, then this cartoon is correct and Trump is claiming victory for what happened under Obama. If it didn’t, then we have two other options: Either it massively and suddenly (and without any real economic policy or tax changes) recovered in the span of a year or it’s still a massive shitpile. And, if it did recover suddenly and magically over the last few months, I’d like for you to explain to me what Trump has actually done that would explain it.

And don’t you dare babble to me about “economic confidence.”

          ——–

Unrelated – I caught Columbo on ME-TV last night. God, I love that show! Reminds me of the good old days. A dentist murdered his mistress’s husband and framed her for it in an effort to steal their fortune. Everyone was pressuring Columbo to arrest her since she was obviously guilty and he just kept muddling along (as he is wont to do) just snipping at the threads of the dentist’s story until he fell right into the trap. They seriously do not make TV like that anymore.

          • And don’t you dare babble to me about “economic confidence.”

How bout if we phrase it…. Energy Dominance then?

            • Coal is doomed. Stripping out a few Obama-era regulations from his last year does not actually create “energy dominance.”

So, I’ll bite: The economy was a shit-pile right up until October 2016, and now it’s peaches and sunshine due to .. something something energy dominance.

Please do tell me what that energy dominance even means?

What he has done to create this energy dominance (of note!) – not just “removed regulations.” If it’s that, then what, specifically.

And/or, also, show me a chart or something that shows this massive uptick since his election. I mean, what is the standard of showing that the economy has made this sudden and massive turnaround that, in no way, relates to anything Obama did.

I mean, the economy turns slowly, so I’ve always contended that, baring major economic policy change, the first year of a President’s term belongs (for good or ill) to his predecessor. So if this awesome change has sudden happened, it should be easy to show – and it should also be easy to show who is responsible, right?

              • Yes sir, allow me a day to pull together the data from Fed rates to mosquito droppings. Also, from deposits and earnings and GDP…M1 and M2 supply……be back with you on this.

Note that I am not saying that TRUMP has done anything but getting rid of Obama did. You do not want consumer confidence as a suggestion, but your gonna get it anyway….BUT……I will debate growth with you and the misused statement of the worst depression since 1930’s….But I will back up my growth of .9 to 1.9…with an average of 1.45%. Now, I am not going to use data from CNN, Fox News, or MSNBC..Nor will I use data from the Wall Street Journal….But I will justify why the growth rate is predicted at 2.4 this first year and I think it is going to be 3.0 or better and my reasons why……

                Be back with data…..

              • I mean, the economy turns slowly, so I’ve always contended that, baring major economic policy change, the first year of a President’s term belongs (for good or ill) to his predecessor. So if this awesome change has sudden happened, it should be easy to show – and it should also be easy to show who is responsible, right?

Normally, you would be correct…..not in this case…but…I am not giving it to Trump either. But as I said…stay tuned for hard data….

              • The economics major in me is both giddy for a fight and groaning at the prospect of slogging through this.

              • Yeah, I know the feeling…..but I think you and I can keep it from getting sloppy.

So the point of this cartoon is that the supposed recovery is the ice hidden under the water? You know, the ice that usually sinks the ship, because it is hidden.

Counter-protesters — including antifa, Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), Veterans for Peace, Indivisible Seattle, Black Lives Matter, and the Freedom Socialist Party — marched “in solidarity against hate,” specifically against what they called “the bigotry, racism and violence” of the “far-right” organizers. Solidarity Against Hate counter-protesters waved communist flags, yelled “f*ck America,” squirted police with silly-string, and burned the American flag.

Maricopa County’s “Sheriff Joe” Arpaio might have been hit with hard news two weeks ago, but the former Arizona lawman might be getting a life-changing phone call from President Donald Trump soon.

The president has confirmed he is looking at officially pardoning the controversial sheriff, according to a Fox News report.

“I am seriously considering a pardon for Sheriff Arpaio,” Trump stated on Sunday. “He has done a lot in the fight against illegal immigration. He’s a great American patriot and I hate to see what has happened to him.”

    • Certainly Trumperino has the authority to do this. What are your thoughts on if he actually does?

      • They are fine. The sheriff has done a good job, was convicted of a minor violation as opposed to what they wanted to hang him for. It will be portrayed as if he had been convicted of a Class A felony by the press but we are so far in the hole now, who gives a shit. Our true believers will believe, theirs won’t.

        • Dale A. Albrecht says:

And Holder walked on a “Contempt” of Congress charge. The sheriff in AZ was doing jis sworn duty to those that elected him and that was to protect them. Not some federally appointed judge and some temporary EO by the POTUS because he could not get any legitimate changes to Federal immigration law, even when he held both houses..

  33. Dale A. Albrecht says:

Anyone want to bet that there will be NO investigation against the police, mayor and Gov in VA as to why the police were TOLD to stand down, like there was during Christies Bridgegate?

Also if any suits are brought against the official party’s will be dropped as frivolous.

When are those that are put into positions of trust especially ones that are to “protect” the people, do their jobs and not just shrug and say ho hum….or like the courts found with the Nazi war criminals….”I was just following orders”…as not a legitimate excuse. .

    • What is it with you people and “stand down orders”? Can you support this?

      • No I do not support the stand down orders or the people that issue them. They should be prosecuted for violating the civil rights of those injured at these rallies.

      • Dale A. Albrecht says:

Mathius…..the use of the terms ” Ordered to Stand down” came from an MSM news source that said the police said to him that it was getting to dangerous here and they were pulling out and that they should move to a safer location. That said…..

These explanantions are from the chief of police news conference explaining that NO order to stand down was given……HOWEVER….my comments are in CAPS.

Thomas said white-nationalist demonstrators didn’t follow a plan to enter through the rear of Emancipation Park, leading to confrontations with counter-protesters and people “throwing objects and spraying chemical agents.”……..OBVIOUSLY THE POLICE DID NOT ELABORATE TO THE MEDIA AS TO WHY THEY PULLED OUT. I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN ANY PARADE where the route was not clearly marked with side streets blocked by baracades and or controled by the police allowing cross vehicular traffic…How can the paraders have not followed the planned route. the OPPO would also be lining the route.

Thomas said uniformed cops had to change into “protective gear”‘ before clearing out the park, which sparked “disturbances throughout the downtown area” that weren’t quelled for about an hour……….THE POLICE LEFT LEAVING THE TWO GROUPS FACE TO FACE TO GO CHANGE THERE UNIFORMS….THAT’S LEAVING THE SCENE.

“It was certainly a challenge. We were spread thin once the crowds dispersed,” he said.
…….THE CITY POLICE, STATE POLICE and NATIONAL GUARD were present and had an overwhelming presence.

Asked who was to blame for violence, Thomas said: “This was an alt-right rally. We did have mutually combative individuals in the crowd.”……..DUH….OF COURSE THERE WERE MUTUALLY COMBATIVE PEOPLE….THE OPPO, ANTIFA and BLM HAS A MOST GLORIOUS RECORD OF VIOLENCE.

Asked if he regretted not having his cops in riot gear before the planned rally, Thomas didn’t answer the question directly and only spoke about the three people who died…..
WHAT DID HE EXPECT, FOR THEM TO THROW LOVE AND KISSES. and FLOWERS, WHEN THROWING ACID, FECES, URINE, ROCKS, PEPPER SPRAYING PEOPLE has been the norm in events involving ANTIFA even when they were marching on their own., like in Portland Oregon and in Hamburg Germany….video from Charlottesville of a black man using an areosol can lit as a flamethrower.

In ’64 during the Watts riots CA was a democratically controlled State. Brown sr was gov. LA was a democratically controlled city and Sam Yorty was mayor. They had procedures in place that were guarenteeing an eventual explosion….I will not go into them because the Federal Government report as to why the riot occured became required reading in school and I still have the book on my shelf and I revisit it quite often….Mayor Yorty said he was just going to surround Watts and NOT send police or the Guard into the area to quell the riots. his quote was “If they want to burn their house down let them”……later when Yorty was running for re-election he tried passing himself off as a Republican after Reagan was elected gov…..that facade did not work with the electorate.

        • gmanfortruth says:

There didn’t need to be a “Stand Down Order” when the freaking cops knew exactly what they were doing. They stopped the rally before it really began and told the “legal” rally attendee’s to leave the area, right into the waiting arms of Antifa and their Lefty friends.

At that point, the police were to pull back and get into riot gear, knowing damn well what was going to happen, because THEY set it up to happen. The devout Democrat leaders had full knowledge of Antifa showing up, and it wouldn’t surprise me if a few of them actually donated to the organization when requesting their presence.

As has been the norm for Democrat governments…let them riot. I wouldn’t be one bit surprised if the Liberal media talking points were in their hands the day before. These things don’t just happen in secret. There is nothing secret about the internet and that’s where it was organized. They knew damn well that they would use this to blame Trump. Their failing identity politics is just moving forward, to my great pleasure 🙂

  34. I wish the Republicans would make the following statement:

    1) We condemn all violence be it from the left or the right.

    2) We condemn all racism by all parties whether it be overt or covert. We will strive for a color blind, merit based society. (Reverse discrimination is just racism by another name.)

    3) We pledge ourselves to equal enforcement of the law against all offenders.

    4) We will defend freedom of speech for all parties. You have a right to speak. You have a right to not listen. You have no right to silence someone else because you might be offended by their speech. You have no right to incite others to violence.

    5) We will defend the right of free and peaceful assembly by all parties. The key word is peaceful. Anyone who disturbs that peace will be prosecuted.

This should be a unified statement by the leaders in Congress and by the President and members of his cabinet.

    • Can I add a 7th…..? We will fire no warning shots.

      • Your free to add anything you want. I am sure there are some on the alt-right who think that whites should be supreme. This is abhorrent and un-American. However, there are also many on the right who find the favoritism to selected groups as wrong and also un-American. I agree. We should not have protected class of citizens. It is inherently wrong and unequal.

        • Anytime you have a favored class, you will have problems. I am convinced, since I lived through it, that Affirmative Action policies of the 60’s and 70’s has created most of the problems today. When you form a protected class of any kind, you will breed resentment. When you say that reverse discrimination is ok, you are discriminating. It is not ok…..any form of discrimination is not ok but discrimination has morphed into such a bastardized meaning throughout the years. Mathius says that it is a sign of progression. I see it differently. You cannot simply morph anything that you want to fit specific situations. This creates the resentment and reverse discrimination.

      • One of the things that has always puzzled me is why the Republicans can never get ahead of this stuff. They are always playing defense. A carefully crafted simple set of principles that they can fall back on would make it much easier to respond to these incidents. They could then point out the hypocrisy of the opposition.

    • It woudl make no difference. the Republicans are the party of Hoover, the Rich, the industrialists, the warmongers, the racists, the sexists, the bigots, the devil and the Klan.

How can you bat a false narrative when the avenue to fight have been closed to you?

There was an excellent point made last night by I forget who who talked about “populism” . Now, I know many of you out and out condemn it as does Glen Beck whom I love to listen too. The point was Populism is one hell of a lot closer to Conservatism than Liberal ones. If nothing, it cares about the individual rather than the collective. As i have preached for the past 50 years or so, there has to be a FIRST step to bring things to where the are recognizable to the founders. I had to turn Beck off last night when he became doctrinaire. No, Virginia, there is absolutely no way to go from Z back to A in one fell swoop.

This morning good ole Judge Napolitano was going on about the public works program and castigating Eisenhower for building the Interstate highway system. “It’s not in the Constitution”. How in the hell are you ever going to sell conservative principles to the underemployed, unemployed with pie in the sky crap like that which did not even sell in 1958?

      • Dale A. Albrecht says:

Napolitano is losing it.Let’s tear out the TVA, and all the public works projects that were done during the 30’s and ARE still with us producing what they were intended to do.

When we first went cross country, by car, before any shovel load of dirt was overturned by the “Interstate” act. it was quite an adventure. When we dropped off the PA Turnpike which was old and scanky even then at Wheeling WVa, I thought we dropped off into another world. THis is even after spending my 1st 7 years in the Catskills. Granted we did do some sightseeing, but they were quick stops. Old rte 66 and all. Dirt road across the rockies, it was slow going. 2-2.5 weeks. As the system went in the time across country was eventually reduced to 3 days from LA to Poughkeepsie NY. Stopping every night. Plus as the years went by cars got incredibly more reliable and efficient…..When I have time I do love getting off the interstate system and taking roads through the countryside where they had to survive due to distance from interchanges. Slow going but fun.

        • When I have time I do love getting off the interstate system and taking roads through the countryside where they had to survive due to distance from interchanges. Slow going but fun.

Not only fun, but you get to see country and wild life that you do not get to see on the Interstates. But, the Interstates are nice and fast.

I wonder if anyone remembers why the Interstates were built in the first place? ( I will save you the trouble of looking it up. ) It was for National Defense.

          • Dale A. Albrecht says:

Your question was supposed to be a quiz…..Eisenhower was impressed by the Autobahn and Germany’s ability to move armies and supplies quickly between the fronts.

          • 50% of my retirement savings will get burned up on roadtrips….wayyyy off the Interstate system….like, on two tracks going off into who knows where, lots of times ending up at a fishing hole. Tick tock.

            • Dale A. Albrecht says:

One of my favorite ways to travel on day trips is to set the GPS to an end point. But not follow the driving instructions. I turn down interesting roads and stress the system to get me back on track. You do see some interesting country that way. I do set some gross parameters though like crossing the SC state line, or the Fear River or Interstate 40 so I do stay within an area. Or I just use the built in compass on the overhead. I want to go NE just keep the general heading that way.

              • I’m stressin. I need a new circuit board on my overhead compass. Only a minor setback, tho, as long as I can figure out N, S, E, W, I’m good to go. Roadtrips are my all time fav thing to do.

  35. Dale A. Albrecht says:

I saw a video titled. “Hypocrite Democratic Party and the KKK….Partners since 1866”. Unfortunately I via google could not get the link to post here. Noted in it was a tactic that is being used today though in a electronic format via social media where before they used “push” cards identifying Black republicans, white republican politicians targeted to be eliminated openly calling to kill them. Look at the treatment that recently Collen Powell and Condelleza Rice received as betraying their race and being white. Hillary and Bill praising Robert Byrd who fillibustered the civil rights act for 14 hours. Plus he was a Grand wizard of the KKK. .

The Nork’s back down!!!!! Trump wins in a big way!!!!!!

    • Exactly, how does Trump win this one? The USA won this one. Trump was President and he showed leadership, but the USA won this one. The same as the USA lost when Clinton, Bush and Obama capitulated. We finally have some leaders that did not blink and those of us who have lived through this type of brinkmanship knows that North Korea is full of bluster and even the most renegade of regimes knows that if they punch a nuke……they become a glass factory shortly afterward.

The media is actually the organization that should get the blame for the hype. They fan the flames under the disguise of news reporting. An example, Seoul will be decimated if the POTUS…..the POTUS, mind you, keeps up his rhetoric. Every school yard child over the age of 2 knows that Kimme Boy was not going to fire anything? HE was not and is not going to fire off a nuke towards Guam or Japan or anyone else. It is all rhetoric and the USA should stand up and simply say…..go ahead, make my day. Not negotitate and not do diplomatic horse shit….simply say….go ahead, make my day.

As to using Seoul as a hostage…..does Kimme Boy have conventional weapons that can reduce Seoul to flames? Yep….we let them build it over the years. Do we have the ability to stop them? Yep…..we do. Does anyone win? Nope, no one wins in a war. Will thousands die in the streets?…Yep, they will.

Most people do not know that the Korean War is not over….never has been. It is simply in a cease fire. A cease fire does not mean the war is over. It is a stalemate and diplomacy simply does not work against regimes of this kind. We, the USA, made a mistake back then by not finishing the war. By not understanding the mentality of your enemy. Paying it forward, if you will. We are now reaping our inaction.

      • gmanfortruth says:

        Quite correct Sir 🙂

I should have said Trump wins because he was right and the Democrats and Liberal media were wrong….again.

      • Dale A. Albrecht says:

To fire a salvo of missiles at Guam as North Korea threatens, requires firing over Japan. Not a good idea. Besides Kim says he’d bracket Guam with in so many miles. Uh huh. With their track record of successes they just might hit just about anything within a 2000 mile radius. A backward richocette Siberia or Alaska. a good slice and it’s China, hook, Midway or Hawaii…..

Stalemates and divisions are never a good idea, especially if one desires peace. The world is still suffering through politically arbitrary divisions without regard to cultural heritage with the Treaty of Versailles

        • Kimmee Boy has exhibited an unique and fearful and uncanny expertise to hit an ocean…..and even then three have missed ocean….two b ew up on the ground and one in flight. Even if he does have the capacity to launch…..he still has no guidance systems. Kimmee Boy could not hit his ass with two hands….much less bracket Guam. Well, maybe he could hit his ass……its as big as an ocean.

  39. Mathius, I think that our little “battle” should be a new thread. I shall pen an article on this subject…..what say you?

    • I say work is nuts today (for for the near term future) so I cannot spare the bandwidth to keep up with you. Post away if you like, and I will be sure to read and comment as I can.. but a battle.. I just don’t have time at the moment.

Unrelated: wish me luck today! I need it.

      • Fair enough……..it will be a series of things anyway……to make it easier.

Unrealted: Good Luck, sir……and remember, when you are up to your ass in alligators it is hard to remind oneself that your intitial objective was to drain the swamp…….or……….

While looking up history of LA, from 1960 – today Los Angeles has had exactly 1 Republican mayor and that was Richard Riorden. Two term limited. I found it interesting that during his successors term, a democrat, the San Fernando Valley, Hollywood and San Pedro tried to secede from the City of LA.

LA is no city of angels and in my lifetime has quite a history of racial divide. …To be clear there were NO GO zones in LA even back then, It i not just in Paris and European cities today.

The wealthiest neighbor I knew in Hidden Hills or at anytime there was of Mexican heritage. His business was bringing in cheap laborers from Mexico. His hacienda was quite spectacular. WE never thought of him and his family as different or alien. They were extremely nice and were fun to be around.

  43. Dale A. Albrecht says:

“Cultural Vandalism in the USA” is the title of this video. It is prefaced by current events around the world.

In this video is a clip from the the destruction of a monument in Durham. Vandals acted just like those in Iraq after the fall of Saddam. Most of the participants were WHITE. Why does it seem that most people in the news calling for death to whites are white? Please lead the way and start the ball rolling and leave those of us that remain in peace.

On another note, I do find it ironic that a statue of Robert E Lee is in “Emancipation Park” Isn’t that a bit of an oxymoron?

For all the reasons that were rolled into the Civil War “States” rights were front and center. Isn’t California screaming States rights today? Aren’t sanctuary cities sort of bundled into that argument?

    • Dale A. Albrecht says:

The biggest school in Durham is Duke University, the site of the pilloring and attempted railroading of innocent “white” lacross players, so that gives an idea of the mindset there..
Duke is NOT an inexpensive school to attend. For all those White students protesting white privilege Please just return their tuition checks to Mom and Dad, oh and also please to not get a loan for your tuition. Get a job and earn it. Your education may just be a little bit more focused and valuable. You just may learn that becoming a plumber, or a electrician, or brick mason will earn you more than any old college curriculum debt free.

      • Dale A. Albrecht says:

This is the makeup of the crowd in Durham. The statue was at the old city hall. Many claimed to have attended Charlottesville.

Groups at the rally included members of the Triangle People’s Assembly, Workers World Party, Industrial Workers of the World, Democratic Socialists of America and the antifa movement.

FYI the police stood by and did not interfere with the vandalism and the Gov gave a really weak comment.

Why are they protesting Trump when he is an advocate of getting jobs back from overseas because it is adventageous for the companies to do so…….when Macdonalds and others complete their automation the graduates from these liberal arts schools in that area will have nowhere to go but back to the basement back home. As I have posted before my nephew used to manage the advanced studies grants at Duke. He was really frustrated because most of the grants went to asians. Americans rarely even applied. The asians were far more qualified and hard wiorking and the grant money was not wasted.

Get hungry enough and really face a collapse of your society, like the great depression or what faced Germany after WWI, or Russia after ’91….and they’ll change their tune immediately or DIE.

    • Until two weeks ago, it was “Lee” park.

    • Dale A. Albrecht says:

The families I knew from Germany and Austria that were Jewish were all patriots. They fought in WWI and were patriots to the nation. In the 30’s those I knew later could not believe that Hitler or others could possibly mean what they said. ‘What did I do, I’m a german and a patriot.” surprise surprise…those that believed his evil message got out luckily….those that disbelieved DIED, or if they satay and survived, it was because they were a scientist of value to the Nazi war effort, then were captured by the Soviets, but the because of their science, like rocket science were taken back to russia to develop their program, and never left the USSR until its collapse in 1991.;;;;;even with all the governmental abuse they suffered 100% are died in the wool socialist or communiststo this day. They make Mathius look like a ultra conservative Richard Nixon….Their most common response to any view other than theirs is are you “Fucking stupid” That ends immediatly any attempt for a rational debate. Which left the only topic open to discuss was the weather and that would morph into Al Gore and global warming and climate change.

    • All you have to do to see the truth in this is to look around. Look at what Trump is facing with Charlottesville. Trying to discuss this situation with a little truth, which is the only way to try and fix the problem, all he gets is a “How dare you attitude”.

  44. Rachael Maddow, who I know most of you probably loath, but who I generally really like, endorsed the efforts to identify individuals at the Nazi rally and make sure it follows them for the rest of their lives. This was on her show last night.

    • Dale A. Albrecht says:

Honestly Mathius i don’t even give her a second thought. Also most journalists on most MSM outlets. In fact I can stomach most lunatics in the alt media for just so long either. Most are lazy and talking heads like Max Headroom. CBS lost me decades ago with Dan Rather. CNN lost me in ’91 during and after the 1st gulf war. Fox, years ago, but I will catch the panel around 1845. I do like NPR. I may not like the tilt sometimes, but they do catch most important events, which prompt further investigation. Any event is tainted by the viewer and also their vantage point. A favorite story is how do 3 blind men describe and elephant. All three were correct and all three were wrong because they never “felt” or saw the entire picture, but one small piece of the whole. Each news outlet no matter who they are are biased and if anyone trust one you will get warped. The best thing is to dig and dig and get at the original story by who was there. and it has to be in multples. Once you feel you have all the raw data that seems right, the conclusion is still biased by your own life experiences and opinions.

Even the epitamy of journalist Horace Greeley was totally like a weathervane. the Hearst controled papers and what is synomous with what is called the “Yellow Press” were and maybe still are a lying bunch of scoundrals only intersted in circulation at the expense of truth. The nY Times even in the 1890, was absolutely instrumental in the Jim Crow laws getting implemented in the south. Just read WEB Dubois.n The Times lied and lied and created fear wre there was no basis in fact in other words FAKE NEWS. George Pulitzer was not known for his honesty, yet the most presigious journalistic award is given in his name.

The internet was a boon to getting at the truth. Tons of BS being spewed, but at least an individual can try and dig out a reasonable faximale of the truth. yet media giants like google, youtube facebook twitter are managed by people that have decided to take it unto themselves as to what can be publishe or not based on THEIR viewpoint. days of oild you had to rely on a storyteller, then came the scibe but they controled what it said, then guttenburg, In NY at best you might have gotten 6 papers with different views. Then Radio and TV. now with digital media…..with a stroke of one keystroke all articles around the world can be changed or deleted. It used to be hard to destroy all printed works. Today it is easy.

I have yet to find even ONE published article about what Khomeni planned and vocally laid it out to a french paper in 1979 we received it and translated it. That interview has been suppressed totally and completely and when I Wrote an analysis and sent it up…I was told to stay out of it.Maybe it’s buried in the worlds intelligence agencies archives. It was not even published in the journalist home paper in paris. Millions were and still being killed all according to plan…it could have been dealt with decades ago but has been actively supported and enabled by ours and other governments…..

The papers in Durham and the area are not conservative. Yet they interviewed and found that many of the Durham vandals were also involved in Charlottesville and not even from the area. These people ar nothing but our version on ISIS and domestic terrorists. Notice most go around masked…

      • People have wayyyyyy too much invested in keeping things the way they are. blasphemy (sarc)……..the clan went around in hoods to remain anonymous 1) to hide their identity but 2) they are and were cowards to their cause. If you truly believe in your cause you would stand up and take the risks involved….that is if words fail you and you can not or wil not debate your viewpoint to the satisfaction of otyhers…

Antifa are of the same ilk. They are cowards who not only refuse to try and justify their cause but refuse to even listen to the oppo. Nor have any reasonable debate. They intimidate with violence immediately. Go around masked to hide their identity in an attempt to avoid a reaction equal in kind or prosecution.

The post I made the other day about the clan and the “cards” they used to hand out with the names and photos and where to find black politicians, republicans and other officials to be killed and intimidated. Today it’s new and improved by social media and photo and facial identikits. Doxing people then attacking their employer to fire them. All over the events in Europe conservative journalist were identified and attacked by antifa supporters. Oppos is sought out and cars and property destroyed. But its all in a days work and they just buy another car after insurance pays off. That is exactly the tactics the clan used, the communists used and the nazi’s to silence any voice. Strange that these are all political ideals that killed and oppressed millions. and continue to do so.

Our revolution in 1776 is now being described and not a real revolution. They claim the french one was and future ones that the french one became the model Ours was soft. There may have been a few cases of retribution, but leave if you want, even fight, lose, stay join. The French killed in a most horrific fashion anyone who they deemed against them. But soon learned the people said basta and cut their head off. The bolsheviks same. No debate, no logical discourse to persuade….Mao said all power comes from the gun. New estimates are 100M dead for social justice. Russia at least 40M plus another 20M fighting another socialist totalitarian regime.

  48. gmanfortruth says:

    And speaking of Nazism…

No matter how many times the MSM (and Wikipedia) says it and the dumbed down American public school victims repeat it, Nazism is not a “right wing” ideology.

The term “Nazi” stems from Adolph Hitler’s National Socialist German Worker’s Party. It was big government, state-worshipping authoritarianism that embraced leftist eugenics policies and social welfare programs, opposed communism and parliamentary democracy and redistributed wealth.

    As Hitler himself said:

Each activity and each need of the individual will thereby be regulated by the party as the representative of the general good. There will be no license, no free space, in which the individual belongs to himself. This is socialism — not such trifles as the private possession of the means of production. Of what importance is that if I range men firmly within a discipline they cannot escape? Let them then own land or factories as much as they please. The decisive factor is that the State, through the party, is supreme over them, regardless whether they are owners or workers. All that, you see, is unessential. Our socialism goes far deeper.

In a May 1, 1927 speech, Hitler said:

We are socialists, we are enemies of today’s capitalistic
economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are determined to destroy this system under all conditions.

And as Hitler readied his forces for Operation Barbarossa on June 16, 1941, Josef Goebbels wrote that he looked forward to the new order the Nazis would impose on a conquered Russia. There would be no come-back, he wrote, for capitalists nor priests nor Tsars. Rather, in the place of debased, Jewish Bolshevism, the Wehrmacht would deliver “der echte Sozialismus”: real socialism.

Hitler preached class warfare, agitating the working class to resist “exploitation” by capitalists — particularly Jewish capitalists, of course. His program called for the nationalization of education, health care, transportation, and other major industries. He instituted and vigorously enforced a strict gun control regimen. He encouraged pornography, illegitimacy, and abortion, and denounced Christians as right-wing fanatics.

Each of those policies is decidedly left wing.

I thought Trump’s Press conference yesterday was SPOT ON and applied some good old fashioned common sense to the Charlotteville events. The Liberal Press can’t handle the damn truth. After I finally sat back to relax a bit last night, I caught another interview on Tucker Carlson with a ranking BLM person. Very well spoken, and appeared to be a kind person, smiling and making well thought comments, although they were mostly typical Liberal BLM talking points. The subject was about these statues and slavery. Then the “moment of truth” came that made everything she said nothing but a big lie. Asked if the many buildings and schools named after Senator Robert Byrd, and ex-KKK recruiter, she stepped on her tongue and wouldn’t answer the question, but rather sidestepped it, smiling of course 🙂 I’ll post the video when it comes available. When people cherry pick which bigots they hate, they are disingenuous and frankly, liars.

Here’s a quick list of violent Left Wing protests over the last 8 years:

Oakland 2009, Akron 2009, Pittsburgh 2009, Santa Cruz 2010, Oakland 2010, Los Angeles 2010, Oakland 2011, Chicago 2012, Anaheim 2012, Brooklyn 2013, Ferguson 2014, New York City 2014, Baltimore 2015, Anaheim 2016, Chicago 2016, St Paul 2016, Milwaukee 2016, Charlotte 2016, Standing Rock 2016, Oakland 2016, Portland 2016, Washington DC 2017, Berkeley 2017, Anaheim 2017, Berkeley (again) 2017, Berkeley (again again) 2017, Olympia 2017, and Portland 2017. This is a list of overwhelmingly leftist protests.

If someone can find a comparable list of violent protests by the loser neo-nazi’s here in the US, please post it.

Rant over, please continue with your daily activities.

I didn’t see it, so maybe I’m mistaken, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this. I read it more tactical than hypocritical.

I’ll give you a military analogy: Your goal is to conquer the world. So you attack your neighbor. You’re in the middle of that fight when, during a press conference, you’re asked about another neighbor. Are you going to come right out and say “yea, they’re next”? Of course not. If you did that, they’d attack you and you’d be engaged on two fronts. It’s far smarter to win the current fight then start the next one.

Same thing here. I don’t see why she should have let herself get baited into opening up a second front while the first is still active. Byrd, and many others, are all probably on the list of figures to be blotted from the pages of history. It’s just that they’re not ready to take him on. They’d rather focus on Lee first and get the win before moving on.

By the way, this is the mistake PETA makes. Rather than picking and choosing their fights and doing things systematically, they are just an unfocused mess of blind rage, attacking every perceived slight. This renders them far less effective and makes them, in many cases, a laughing stock. Hell, they attacked a popular video game called Pokemon because the goal is to capture and fight fictitious monsters. Why have that fight?

BLM would be wise to learn this lesson – you don’t have to fight every battle, and you don’t have to tip your hand every time someone asks you a question.

      • Just A Citizen says:

        Mathius

So you see nothing wrong with the hypocrisy and bigotry of this? You rationalize this by claiming it is all about tactics.

Looks pretty much like “the ends justify the means” to me.

And how about your own double standard. I seem to remember you going after Republicans and Trump for “dodging questions”. Have you not also inferred some meaning behind a political figure not answering?

        • There’s a lot to unpack here and I am really short on time…

hypocrisy of this: I don’t see them as hypocritical. They have a goal and they are pursuing it as best they can. That goal is equality. For a small (vocal) subset, it goes beyond that. The auxilary goal is to get people to stop hero-worshiping people who fought for slavery. In their minds, the civil was was lock-stock-and-barrel 100% about slavery, so anyone who fought on the pro-side, should be derived, not have statues. To them, a statue of such a man is a slap in the face, and completely contrary to the primary goal of being equal (how can we be equal when “they” are hero-worshiping people who fought for our subjugation?).

bigotry: There is a deep vein of bigotry within BLM. Similarly, there is a deep vein of bigotry within the people who marching in Charlotte and the guy who drove his car into a crowd and, per their opinion, in the President, as well. Bigotry is everywhere. I’m not sure BLM is much worst than the general populace, though they may wear it closer to the surface. I’d also point out that, as the less-powerful group, their bigotry is less dangerous that bigotry in, say, the White House.

Looks pretty much like “the ends justify the means” to me. Not justifying the tactics, goals, or anything. Just explaining why they would decline to answer that question. I think it exposes them.

And how about your own double standard. I seem to remember you going after Republicans and Trump for “dodging questions”. First of all, periods go inside the quotation marks.

Secondly, you’ll have to provide me a citation. I think that sometimes silence is an effective and necessary maneuver in politics. Sometimes, that silence speaks louder than an answer would have. Sometimes it’s a systemic effort to stonewall people from getting the truth. I also think there’s a world of difference between a private organization and public officeholders.

Have you not also inferred some meaning behind a political figure not answering? Sure I have – and you have, too. Similarly, I divine meaning behind the BLM non-answer being referenced here. I interpret it to be a “yes, but we’re not ready to say that.” The only distinction I’m really adding is that gman somehow interpreted their non-answer as belying the rest of their statements, and therefore generally hypocritical, because how dare they cherry-pick their targets. And I think that interpretation is nonsensical.

          • Just A Citizen says:

            Mathius

That is a better explanation. I was reacting to you not having a problem with it. That sounds like acceptance of their bull shit and the rest was just rationalizing the bull shit by calling it a tactic. I am sorry for misunderstanding your point.

The way you can identify people who have had media communications training is that they do not get off message when interviewed. They stay to their talking points. No matter the question, you turn it back to the one to two points you want to make.

Of course this makes for a crummy interview, if you are the audience. But if the media were more honest in its work, people wouldn’t have to go through such training.

  50. Personally, I think we would all be better off if we went without “News” for a little while. I keep hearing about how important a free press is, the saying used to be a free and impartial press. Wonder why they dropped the impartial part from the saying.

Now do ya’ll see just how big the forces are against us? All this effort at painting Mr. Trump a racist reveals just how massive the ship of establishment and partisan hackery has become.

It is bad enough that the usual players have jumped on this band wagon, but now you see Republicans and others doing the same. NONE of them applying any reason or logic. Just making emotional appeals to gain notoriety for them and destroy their opposition.

The part of all this that really bothers me is that most people will form their opinions based on the false narrative spread by the MSM and the echo chamber web sites. That and of course the nightly comedy shows which is where so many now get their news. This will in turn determine the success of this Administration and affect the next election cycle.

Which is of course, the purpose of all this moralizing and sanctimonious blather.

And one more thing. The Republicans have revealed just how spineless they really are. Rubio is just their new poster child. But he is not alone in his display of political opportunism and cowardice to the truth.

So did the Germans after the fall of the Nazis. So did the East Germans during the fall of the fall. So did the American in the run up to the Revolution. It’s not always bad guys erasing history. Sometimes it’s good guys getting rid of bad symbols.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think there should be any monuments (government owned, or on government land) to anyone who participated in the rebellion of the South. If you commit treason and armed insurrection, you should not be honored in any capacity by the current government. Just as we voided all confederate debt, and banned insurrectionists from holding the Presidency, there’s a price to pay for fighting the state… and losing.

That said, private citizenry are free to put up all the statues of Lee they can afford. I’m only talking about public land and public owned.

        By the way:

I think it wiser, moreover, not to keep open the sores of war but to follow the examples of those nations who endeavored to obliterate the marks of civil strife, to commit to oblivion the feelings engendered.

        …. -General Lee (1869)

One wonders what he would make of all this…

I’ve been racking my brain (easy to do) trying to remember which famous revolutionary figure said about those people out on the street creating all the disruption,,,,wasn’t it something like they were “useful tools” or fools

These revolutionaries should read history a bit more especially about who got the axe second after the revolution was won. The people who eventually wound up on top couldn’t risk having these “useful tools” around because once they discovered the big lie they’d revolt again….

    Morning thought.

I see so many comments by “the resistance” about how they “warned us about Trump”. Referring to all this chaos and division over him denouncing violent groups improperly.

So I wonder if they were warning us about Mr. Trump, or were they really warning us about what they were planning to do to regain power. Regardless of Mr. Trump.

I believe it is the latter. And now they have afflicted the country with hysterical group think.

  55. Wow, the left media and democrat power structure started out supporting the anti-fa by not condemning their actions or Stopping their actions. Now they are moving on to making them out to be friggin hero’s.

    • Dale A. Albrecht says:

Just like their support of the OWS protests which were a precursor of what was to come. Like Pelosi commenting on how terrified she was at the Tea Party gatherings in DC where they destroyed nothing and left the mall cleaner than when they came, and her support of the OWS crowd and their filth left in NYC and other cities, where the cities begged that they go home so the can clean up the waste and destruction in places like the port cities out west.

    • Just A Citizen says:

This little comment in the article is quite telling:

” But as proponents of white supremacy and other previously politically unacceptable ideologies gained momentum with the presidential campaign and election of Donald Trump, so too did their antifascist nemeses.”

Someone, anyone, please provide PROOF that the white supremecy groups have gained “momentum” with Trump being elected. Membership jumped? Gaining access to MSM outlets??? Showing up at the town square all the time??? Well more than ten of them that is.

What has happened is the media has given them air time in an attempt to tag Mr. Trump with the “racist” label. All because he dared tell the truth about what was happening at the southern border. All because the “left” has played the “dog whistle” care so often they actually hear them, in everything, all the time, everywhere.

The echo chambers have created a group think hysteria. Yes, I repeated myself.

Headline news in North Carolina, BOLD PRINT top of the front page.

Vandals that destroyed the Confederate monument in Durham have been identified and felony arrest warrants have been issued.

  57. Just A Citizen says:

Anti Fascists…………….. Would these not be called CAPITALISTS?

Since Fascism is just another form of Socialism it seems to me that the true opposition would be capitalism, not communism.

The former (capitalism vs. fascism )would be a true battle of ideology, the latter (communism vs. fascism) simply a battle for power.

  58. Dale A. Albrecht says:

Some of North carolinas rich “mixed” history

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Day_(North_Carolina)

Please note that he and his family were rich free blacks and had a plantation which in turn was worked by SLAVES. There is a great display of some of his work in our museum in Raleigh. Years ago I almost bought and restored an antebellum bank in his hometown where he had done the woodwork. Mantles, doors etc. It was all 100% intact and never painted over from when the place was built in 1845. The woodwork was all faux grained. It required a magnifying glass to determine that the wood was not ebony, or birdseye maple or blaze mahogany or tiger stripe. Every room was different style.

IN New Bern, there is a big mansion that is part of our local museum. The businessman named Stanley, was one of the major supporters of the 1776 revolution. The war brought major financial distress to him. One of his sons a black man who handled much of his business in the caribbean bailed him out financially. One of George Washington’s close bodyguards throughout the war was a free black from New Bern.

  59. The first step to totalitarianism….is to remove history. Removing statues and changing names is removing history.

  60. So now they want to selectively punish people who riot and be free not to punish others. Course they’re doing that second part already.

    http://www.timesunion.com/7day-state/article/Cuomo-proposes-new-hate-crimes-provisions-11820111.php

  61. You know what else I find amazing? The age of the protesters about the statues….they have absolutely no idea about the history…..none.

  62. Just saying, If the 400,000 Union veteran members of the GAR and the 1,000,000 other Union veterans and the Wives, Mothers, Fathers, Brothers, Sisters, Sons and Daughters of the 334,680 Union Dead not to mention the 500,000 union wounded had NOTHING to say when the Southerners erected monuments to honor their dead who the hell today has the right to say anything?

    • To me, it’s slightly different.

A state cannot exist if it shows tolerance toward treason and armed insurrection. Just as the state voided conservative debt – to make it riskier to finance future revolutions – so, too, must it not tolerate the hero-worship of traitors.

Now, the state can’t do anything about private citizens and private property given the First Amendment, but it can about the lower governments.

      • So, to you, having statues and such, about history,,,,good or bad…….is tolerance? Would you say the same thing about Julius Ceaser? Stalin? Che Gueverra? Castro?

        • It’s not really about tolerance, per say, though I used that term. A state cannot allow the perception that it is soft on those who would threaten its existence.

To that end, it should not facilitate the deification of confederate “heroes.” To the state, there are no confederate heroes. To the state, there are only insurrectionists. Insurrectionists who lost. Badly. Because resistance is futile.

To fascinate any other viewpoint is to invite challenge.

          • Wow……..cant go with that at all…..but ok.

            • Why do you think they went the extra step to void confederate debt?

              • Just A Citizen says:

As an attempt to bring the nation back together.

And pray tell, which of these dead confederate heroes is threatening the State today??

And please notice it is not the State they attacked that is fomenting at the mouth, it is the State they went to war to defend. Why would a State do that?

Because its demographics have changed. It is time to build the Northern Wall. Or in our case, the Western Wall AND the Eastern Wall. Although just blowing the bridges over the mighty Mississip would take care of most of the eastern threat.

          • Interesting thought…..because a freedom fighter is an inseurrectionist is it not? Or anybody that desired to “buck established laws”…..would they not be an insurrectionist if they took up arms or evenmarched peacefully? To erect statues of such persons, is no different.

          • Apparently it took 152 years to discover your point. You know my problem? The folks I mentioned above, the patriotic Americans who fought for the Union and their heirs, they had skin in the game, you don’t. Their “opinion” counts considerably more than yours. In case you forgot the 1776 folk were traitors too.

            • The difference between traitors and freedom fighters is whether they win or not.

              They lost.

If the “freedom fighters” of 1776 had lost, we’d read about their insurrection (and subsequent hangings) in our British textbooks (while enjoying our universal healthcare).

The State, not I, but the State has a vested interest in not facilitating hero-worship of those who would threaten its position.

As for their skin in the game, well, they aren’t around anymore. Well, except for you, SK. But the rest of them are long gone. You know who has skin in the game now? We do. Because we are still alive. And the government does (for the reasons previously mentioned).

I – personally – don’t give two flying shits about it. I honestly could. not. care. less. Not a single solitary fuck do, personally, give whether these statues are up or down.

But the state does care – and should care.

And some other people who are concerned about what they believe it stands for care. And if you want to keep them up, well, that’s between you and them. I’m just here to explain things. I don’t have a horse in this race.

              • Why do we not ask the hundreds of thousands of re-enactors their position. Having met a few they are far, far more “Up” on the war than you or I. But, gee, nobody asked. probably afraid to get the answer. One guy involved in our Scout Troop as a Union re-enactor gave a marvelous blow by blow two day description of Gettysburg when the troop visited about ten years ago. One would have thought he was there. They are the next best thing to having “skin in the game”.

In answer to your point about Traitors. Notwithstanding you ignore the 152 year thing, I can look at if from a Christian perspective which is where I believe Jefferson and Washington would stand. The Civil war was necessary as was the death of Christ. from an almost mystical point of view , the country had to go through that bloodletting to finish what was started in 1776. It was, frankly, an act of redemption. “I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever.” (Thomas Jefferson).

Oh, yes, and the state should not give a flying fuck either. the state did NOT put them up. One could reasonably argue from the whacked out point of view that you seem to take that since many if not most current historians (and I am sure a few more will join in the future), all agree the Viet-nam war was an atrocity perpetrated by America., The Viet-nam memorial, built with private donations but turned over as a gift to the American people by the Viet-nam vets who built it should also be bulldozed because it is a black scar on our history. And, while we are at it, let’s pull the “Enola Gay” out of the Smithsonian and melt it down to buoild a moinument to the dead of Hiroshima.

I’m going to repeat again what I said before. The “state” did not erect any of these monuments they merely became caretakers. Someday, when you get a chance, Google the 50th Anniversary of Gettysburg on You Tube. Watch the vets, both North and South together, then take this up with me again.

  63. Ok, Mathius…I think that step one is to identify what caused the crash in 2001 and 2008. Was Bush President? Yes. Did he cause the economic collapse….not only no, but hell no. It did happen on his watch but his policies did not cause it. So, we need to dispel the rumors and innuendo’s that Obama ran on….DId George Bush II cause the economic collapse of 2008 AND did his policies cause the crash of 2008.

The answer to both questions is NOT EVEN A LITTLE BIT. Here is why and it will have to come in sgments for discussion because of the length and depth of it.

First, there was significant carry over from the DOT.COM bubble of 2000. The dotcom disaster was a speculative bubble that covered 1995 to 2001. During this period, Internet stocks, which were both novel and difficult to value, soared as investors sought growth stocks and were afraid to miss out on the rally. On the first day of trading in January 2000, the tech-heavy NASDAQ was at 452. By March 20, 2000, the day the NASDAQ peaked during the dotcom craze, the index had soared 1035% to a record intra-day high of 5132.

The S&P 500 had entered 1990 at 353.40 and, by March 10, 2000, it had soared by a more modest 300% to 1413.38.

During the second half of the 1990s, stocks soared and the Federal Reserve’s key lending rate HOVERED ABOVE 5%. Investors, looking for new ways to make money, focused their attention on Internet stocks. The Internet was in its infancy but, by all accounts, the potential for growth was unlimited. VENTURE CAPITALISTS* poured millions of dollars into Internet companies that might have been founded on decent ideas, but had NO PROVEN BUSINESS STRATEGY**. Overzealous management burned through money in efforts to grow their businesses and take them public. Further down the chain were retail investors, who were looking for hot stocks to invest in. This, coupled with the untapped potential of the Internet, helped fuel the tech and Internet initial public offering (IPO) boom.

Many tech and Internet stocks were hard to value because they hadn’t generated a SINGLE PENNY IN REVENUE***. But again, the potential was there. Fundamentals like revenue, earnings, and valuations were ignored**** in favor of technicals and growing optimism, and the fear of missing out on the next big thing.

The most infamous Internet IPO of the late 1990s was theglobe.com, inc. (OTCMKTS:TGLO), a primitive social media site company. The company went public on November 13, 1998 with a set offer price of $9.00 per share. Investors went a little crazy; the stock opened at $87.00 and hit an intra-day high of $97.00 (for a one-day spread of 977%) before closing at $63.50. Two years later, it was delisted from the NASDAQ because it failed to meet the $1.00 minimum share price requirement.

It wasn’t just irrational exuberance that sent stocks and Internet stocks soaring. The U.S. federal government has to take some of the blame. The Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 lowered the maximum tax rate on capital gains for individual investors from 28% to 20% for equity held for more than 18 months. The legislation was signed on August 5, 1997, but was retroactive to May 7, 1997. (Source: “H.R.2014 – Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997,” Congress.gov, last accessed March 22, 3017.)

VERY IMPORTANT……The Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 didn’t have any impact on dividend tax rates; they stayed the same. This motivated investors to favor non-paying dividend stocks, like Internet stocks, which were less established but were also experiencing the most growth. A great idea might have been behind most Internet stocks at the time but, over the long run, an idea can never take the place of fundamentals. During the dotcom era, investors were more enamored with technicals and momentum than they were with traditional things like…fundamentals. It sent valuations into the stratosphere and stocks became wildly overpriced.

According to the cyclically adjusted price-to-earnings (CAPE) ratio, which compares current prices to average earnings over the previous 10 years, the S&P 500 was overvalued by 181.5%. In 1999, the ratio stood at 45. The long-term average is 16. This means that, for every $1.00 in earnings, an investor was willing to pay $45.00.*****

ANOTHER VERY IMPORTANT POINT….In the early part of the 1990s, the Fed lowered interest rates to combat the recession, making it cheaper to borrow money. A familiar tale. What venture capitalist and investor doesn’t like to borrow cheap money and throw it at a start-up or red-hot stock market? But the economy never stands still. Annual GDP increased throughout the 1990s and, from 1997 to 1999, hovered around 4.5%. In an effort to help moderate economic growth, the Fed STARTED TO RAISE INTEREST RATES. From 1999 to early 2000, the Fed raised its key lending rate SIX TIMES.******

Investors finally clued into the fact that the Internet companies with nosebleed valuations that they invested in weren’t making money, and were saddled with debt. Moreover, Internet companies looking for new capital found it difficult to attract new investors. Higher interest rates didn’t help. Investors ran for the exits, and once-high-flying Internet stocks started to go broke. And most went broke…over 90% of the dot coms.
    __________________________________________________________

Now with all this said, let’s look at some key points identified by the asterisks:

    * What is a Venture Capitalist? It is someone with OPM ( other people’s money ) that takes risks for the big hit. THEY get their money up front while putting 401’s etc, at risk.

**NO PROVEN BUSINESS STRATEGY……this means that they filed no pro formas, red herrings, or other documentation to show earnings and profits. They could not file them because it was all speculative.

***Single penny in revenue. Why is this important? Because it is a basic economics 101. You MUST have revenue to value stocks.

****Basic fundamentals…building blocks, if you will, were totally ignored because of the emotional craze of start up companies in the unknown tech and internet industry. YOU MUST Have earnings, revenue, and valuations. Much like the human body needs food and water and air.

*****Would you pay $45.00 to earn 1$? Neither would I. The Law of Diminshing returns.

****** RUT ROH…..the Fed now raises interest rates 6 times. Suddenly, cheap money disappears and the “kiting” starts. AND POP…goes the bubble.

    _____________________________________________________________

Key Question for Mathius, in his spare time………Do you agree with this assessment so far?

  64. So Sharpton wants the Jefferson memorial torn down. What do you all suggest about those rebel statues in Gettysburg?

    • Just A Citizen says:

Leave the damn statues and monuments alone. As one “liberal” suggested, why not add some plagues to some of them that explains why the statue is there, and why this person fought and died. How did it all turn out. Actually TELL HISTORY with each monument.

By the way, Crazy Horse hated white people. He was a racist. The Federal Govt. should take the site and destroy the monument while they are knocking down Mt. Rushmore.

  65. Note to G MAn…..I do not know if you want to put this in another thread……it is going to come in four parts.
